Vsae is a nine year old Mon Calamari who lives fifteen levels below the surface of Coruscant, he is the grandson of Quarry, the Mon Cal who would invent the B-wing, but the rest of his friends were nothing like him.
Horn is a Rodian, born on Corelia, as well as a streetwise orphan. Coral, daughter of governor Pryce of Lothal, attends an imperial boarding school for the children of important imperial officials. A Mon Cal, a Rodian, and a Human playing were certainly an odd sight, which was why the fourth member of the group, Mitth'atal'ki, or kiwi (not the fruit mind you, the bird) enjoyed it so much.
Imperial stormtrooper I-K-42-A29 watched as two young aliens and a human child raced down the street, followed by another alien, right on their heels
Humans playing with aliens, not that's something you don't see every day. I-K-42-A29 thought.
His counterpart, I-K 64-Y-82 smiled, it was good to see children of different species playing together, the rebel spy thought.
"You there! stop!" I-K-42-A29 demanded. But the children had no intentions of doing so, as they got closer, the front one jumped and whacked the stormtrooper on the top of the head, letting out a loud whoop at the same time, the next one jumped and did the same, each wack making the stormtrooper bend down farther until even the smallest, a blue-skinned humanoid who could not have been more than four feet tall leaped and used his head as a spring board to catch up with her fellows.
I-K-64-Y-82 had to try very hard not to laugh as his superior became the laughing stock of the Coruscant undercity.
"Kiwi, that was hilarious!" Vsae choked out in between laughs
"He looked so stupid!" Horn added
Kiwi smiled, though she was the youngest (by two years and one foot) she fit in perfectly.
"Its getting late, we should be going home" Home horn said, glancing at his watch
"I'm not sure you can call an imperial boarding school home" Coral pointed out
"True, but you live there, so its home" Kiwi argued
"Kiwi, you staying with me still or is your dad back yet?" Vsae inquired
Kiwi, who had been staying with Vsae's family while her father was deployed with the Chimera (Har father had been dismayed by this, but accepted it as necessary).
"He's not back yet, he had to make a detour to drop some Chiss of at Csilla, but he'll be here in a few hours"
"Horn, you can come over too if you want" Vsae offered, knowing the rodian, who had no home or family, would probably end up eating out of a trash can otherwise.
"Yah, sure, I'll come" Horn said, glad for the excuse to stay with his friends
As they walked out of the ally, they saw two stormtroopers, one of which who had a Kiwi-sized footprint on his helmet and knew nothing about it (And his subordinates intended to keep it that way)
Thrawn looked at the address his daughter had sent to his datapad.
Undercity?! My daughter, the daughter of a Grand Admiral is staying in the -15th level of the Coruscant undercity?!
Thrawn sighed, mabey she took after him a little too much.
A stormtrooper with a child-sized footprint on his helmet was walking down the street, wondering why he was attracting so much attention.
"Ah, excuse me trooper?"
"Yes" the stormtrooper replied, obviously being to preoccupied with all the people staring at him to realize Thrawn was a nonhuman
"You appear to have a footprint on your helmet" Thrawn told him politely
"I do?" He said
"Ohhh... I wonder how long that has been there?" He said, taking of his helmet and looking at it
"Its been there two weeks, three days, eight hours, and forty-seven minutes" The trooper next to him replied
"You knew about it?" The footprint stormie demanded
"Yes of course I knew about it, everyone who looks at your helmet knows about it!" the other one retorted
Thrawn sighed and left the two stormtroopers to their bickering
Small wonder the rebels keep winning. He thought literably
"Dad, your back!" A young voice shook Thrawn out of his thoughts
"Atal'ki!" He exclaimed, happily picking up his daughter
"And who are you?" he inquired of the three children standing nearby, looking around awkwardly
"These are my friends, dad" Atal'ki informed him
"Ah, and what are your names? He asked politely.
"I'm Coral Pryce" Coral, ever the diplomat piped up.
"Any relation to Governor Pryce of Lothal?" He asked, genuinely interested.
"Unfortunately, yahm shes my mom." Coral said indignantly
"And this is Horn" Atal'ki said, trying to keep the conversation rolling.
"Hello Horn" Thrawn said, ever eager to finish the peasantries.
"And this is Vsae, i've been staying with his family" Atal'ki said, gesturing to the Mon Cal
My daughter and a calamari. This just gets better and better.
"Hello Vsae" Thrawn said, not wanting to appear rude.
After the pleasantries, Thrawn was quick to leave, after two hours of hassle he finally made it out the door, albeit with three more bantha stakes than he came with.
Thrawn was quick to tell his daughter about the Emperors offer, and insisting that she take it. Thrawn didn't notice the slight dismay Atal'ki displayed at this, he had no idea that after that summer she would never quite feel the same about the empire, despite her fathers teachings.
