A lonely Danny watches a news report about a paranormal therapist James Possible and is instantly smitten with his teenage daughter, Kim, who dislikes her father's reputation and obsession with contacting the ghost of his late wife, Ann, prompting Danny to inspire Shego in summoning James to Whipstaff.
While driving to Whipstaff, Kim is not pleased with the trip and her father's annoying singing. That's life, that's life. That's what all the people say. You're ridin' high in April shot down in, Kim stops the music which cuts James's singing. Oh, honey, I'm so sorry about your Cactus Spooners, James said. Crooners, said Kim correcting her father. Look, I don't care what they say, okay? You're not demented. You are a picture of mental health, said James. They were talking about you dad. Why don't you just try to explain afterlife therapy to a bunch of junior high kids? she asked. Kimberly, some people go through life never questioning the norm. But you and I, we're doing something extraordinary with our lives, okay?
No, not okay, not okay with this, we're not doing anything because you're the one who's been packing up my stuff and moving me around the country. I mean in two years, I have been to nine different schools. I have eaten in different cafeterias. I can't even remember anyone's name. I would like to be in one place long enough to make a friend for once dad. And you will sweetheart. I mean come on. We're movin' to Friendship, Maine. I might make one. You better dad, cause a single guy like you is more likely to become a bank hostage than to make new friends. He chuckles and says, man you sound just like your mother. You're never gonna find her dad, she's dead. She's not a ghost, she said. Oh yes she is, she just has unfinished business, if you know what I mean, said James. They don't exist, she said.
James stops the car and tells his daughter, I'll tell you what, why don't you go with me one last time? If I don't find what I'm looking for, it's over okay? No more moving and no more ghost mining. Promise? she asked. Promise, he said. They both agree by giving each other pinky promises and continue driving to Friendship, Maine.
