A year and a half had passed. Nick had since married Becca. They had a two month old son named Collin. Nick and Randy's relationship was still strained. Randy was a wonderful father to Adrian. He and Mollie had gotten closer then ever since Adrian's birth, but only in a friendly way. Mollie had just been busy working and taking care of the girls. She had given serious thought about dating again, but she was still undecided. It was around two o'clock in the afternoon, Mollie's day off. Allison was at school, Adrian was napping and Mollie was doing the dishes.
"Mama, mama." She heard on the baby monitor.
Mollie went upstairs to get her.
"Hi mama." Adrian said.
"Hi."
"Want dada."
She picked her up. "Dada's at work."
They went downstairs.
"Where Al?" Adrian asked.
"She's at school." "She'll be home soon."
An hour later Allison came home.
"Hi Allison." Mollie said.
"Hi mommy."
"How was school?"
"Good."
"Hi Al." Adrian said.
"Hi."
"Play?"
"Yeah."
Later that night Mollie had just finished giving Adrian a bath and dressing her. Her cell phone started to ring.
"Hello?" She said.
"Hi Moll." Randy said.
"Hi."
"Is she still up?"
"Yeah." "You made it just in time." "I'm about to put her to bed." She put the phone to Adrian's ear. "Adrian, say hi."
"Hi." Adrian said.
"Hi Adrian."
"Dada, dada." She said happily.
"Dada misses you."
"Come come."
"I am tomorrow."
"Love dada."
"I love you too." "Night night."
"Night night."
Mollie took back the phone.
"I'll call you back when I put her down." Mollie said.
"Ok." They hung up.
Ten minutes later Mollie called Randy back.
"Hello?" He said.
"Hi"
"I should be there around seven tomorrow night."
"Ok." She yawned
"Tired?"
"Yeah." "I'm gonna go to bed."
"Ok goodnight."
"Goodnight."
Randy went to a bar with John. They were drinking.
"I can't wait to see Adrian tomorrow." Randy said.
"When are you finally gonna ask Mollie out?"
"I want to." "I just don't want to do it to soon."
"Didn't she tell you she's thinking about dating again?"
"Yeah."
"It's time."
The next night at around seven Randy knocked on the front door of Mollie's house. Allison answered the door.
"Hi Allison." He said going inside.
"Hi uncle Randy." They hugged.
"How are you?"
"Good."
"Dada." Adrian said running into the living room from the kitchen
"Hey sweetie." Randy said scooping her up and kissing her on the cheek. "Daddy's so happy to see you."
Randy stayed for dinner and put Adrian to bed. When both girls were in bed Mollie and Randy talked for awhile. When she walked him to the door he decided to take a chance.
"Moll, would you like to go out to dinner sometime?" Randy asked.
She smiled. "You're asking me on a date?"
"Yeah."
"The kids are going to Nick's tomorrow night." "We can go out then."
"Ok." "Bye."
"Bye." He left.
