"Uhm, before we talk, can I know your name?" Leizcio asked nervously following the girl who asked to talk to him. Leizcio was always polite, but he really wanted to run away from this situation. While he's glad she managed to save her, he also wished it wasn't someone from his school. Would've been perfectly fine, Just a random student who knows some random vigilante's face. But nope, fate said nope not today.
"Of course, sorry about that! I'm Ochaco Uraraka! Sorry, but I wanted to talk to you about yesterday but we probably shouldn't be talking about it here!" She said in an energetic but apologetic tone.
They continued to walk until they reached a secluded part of the school where people rarely congregated. And thus, Leizcio thought in his mind that he was about to get either
A. Interrogated
Or
B. Blackmailed
When in reality, all she said was,
"Thank you for protecting me and my family from those thieves! We were getting some things last minute and those guys turned up out of nowhere!" Uraraka said excitedly.
Leizcio was surprised, but hey, at least he ain't getting arrested.
Uraraka continued to talk,
"And then you showed up and it was like you were a lightning strike! You held them off and ended up beating them! Really can't thank you enough!"
"Well uh, really it's not much, I heard someone yelling and I had to help."
"Expected of a hero in the making! But why are you a vigilante? We're still teenagers?"
"Uhhh, well, I know this person who wanted to train my quirk and I wanted to be a pro-hero. They said that I'd be able to use it more creatively on the field since it'd make me learn on the fly. But it's illegal of course! Hence the mask and goggles! Well... Guess I need a replacement for those."
"That's cool! And of course, this is our secret, and I promise not to tell anybody. It's the smallest thing I can do to thank you for defeating those villains."
Mentally sighing, Leizcio is glad that Uraraka isn't going to snitch on him. And honestly, she seems pretty nice. He's actually glad now that it was her that learned of his vigilantism rather than someone else.
"Of course, and it means a great deal to me that nobody else learns about this. I can't thank you enough for that alone."
With both Uraraka and Leizcio done with sharing their thanks, they headed back to their classes. On the way, they casually talked with each other, getting to know the other a little bit more. And thus, those two would form a friendship from that moment.
After the final class of the day was done, Leizcio would walk back home to the cafe. However, this time he was accompanied by someone else.
"Villa! Wait up!"
Looking over his shoulder, Leizcio saw Uraraka catching up to him. He slowed down a bit so that she'd catch up faster. Turns out they take the same path to head back home after school. On the path, they talk to each other so they don't have to walk in silence.
"So Uraraka, what's your plans after Rothal, if you don't mind me asking?"
"I'm thinking of applying to UA's hero course once we're done! How about you?"
"Actually I was thinking of applying there myself as well! Their entrance exam is coming up rather soon though isn't it? Like two months?"
"Yeah, it's crazy how soon it is! But it should be easy for you huh ?" Uraraka teased.
"Hey! Wait a minute, what even is your quirk?"
"Zero gravity! I can make things weightless if I touch them with my hand!"
"That's a pretty versatile quirk! You can save a lot of people with one like that!"
"And yours is pretty great as well! With that speed, you could save a lot!"
"Guess we'll both be pretty great heroes then huh?"
As they continue talking, they reach Leizcio's home, Stardew Cafe.
"Okay Uraraka, I'll see you tomorrow." Leizcio waved as he began to enter the cafe.
"Wait you live here? Does your family own the place?"
"Yeah my sister owns the place and I work here of course. Wanna come in?"
"Sure!"
As they both walked in, they greeted Lavania, and Leizcio went ahead to greet pech with a few head rubs and a treat. Leizcio shortly explained how Uraraka knew who he is. Again and unsurprisingly, Leizcio was lightly slapped on the head for not covering his identity well. After a short scolding, Leizcio returned to where he was with Uraraka with some pastries.
As they enjoyed the pastries, they'd engage in some friendly conversation. Talking about how excited yet nervous for the entrance exam coming up. What their favorite things were, their favorite sweets, the basics.
"Hey Villa, why do you want to be a hero?" Uraraka asked.
He stopped and thought about what he'd say for a second. It wasn't something complicated, but it's not the easiest thing to put into words.
"I want to become a hero because I was inspired by my mother, she was a nurse with a special quirk that'd heal a lot of pro-heroes. Even though my quirk isn't like hers, I want to be able to use it to save everyone within my reach, whether they're pro-heroes or normal people. I want to make sure they live to see another day and be with those close to them."
"That's really honorable! I kinda feel like my reason is a bit... Unwholesome." Uraraka said in response.
"I really doubt it, why do you want to be a hero?"
"Well, I want to use the money that I'd get from being a pro and use it to help my parents. They're not that wealthy, and I want to make their lives easier and have them live comfortably." Uraraka admitted embarrassingly.
"That's still a great reason to become a pro! Even it's for money, you want to use it to alleviate the financial stress that your parents have!" Leizcio encouraged. While it wasn't the reason he thought it'd be, he still finds it admirable.
"Also don't worry about having to pay here, I already eat a lot here due to my quirk so I just munch on the extras. If you ever want anything, just stop by and get what you want."
"Are you sure?!"
"Well yeah. Considering that you're keeping my secret and we're friends, I'm pretty sure."
After managing to get Uraraka to calm down, they both said bye to each other as Uraraka went to walk to her home. Leizcio would help Lavania a bit before going upstairs to his room to do his classwork and such.
As he props himself into his chair, he pulls out his phone and starts to listen to some of his favorite music. Having heard the radio a lot back when he lived at home with his mom and when he was younger, the old songs that played on the radio would end up growing on him. Resulting in his playlist mostly consisting of a mix of rock and pop music from the 90s.
After finishing up his work, he went back down into the cafe area to check up and see how it's going. Since it was nearing the end of the day, it began to slow down. He decided he'd help and clean up a bit early so that there wouldn't be much to do after business hours were over.
Seeing that he had some time leftover, he went back upstairs and went to their living room, a rather small one but it had the essentials. Sitting on the couch, he'd load up his Ybox 2 and play something. He enjoyed playing some ShaftCraft, being able to relax and just build whatever he pleases. He was more of a builder since he was usually satisfied with how it'd come out.
"Hey Lei! Can you come down and help me clean up early?" Lavania yelled from the stairs.
Of course, right when he had sat down and was about to play, he gets called to do something. Reluctantly, he picks himself up from the couch and heads downstairs to help clean up the seating area and kitchen in the back. Since Leizcio did some of the things earlier, they were able to finish and close up shop for the day.
"Hey were you playing some ShaftCraft?"
"Yeah, wanna join?"
"Sure."
Both Leizcio and Lavania walked up the stairs and sat down on the couch, accompanied by pech shortly after sitting on a pillow between them. They played for a while, doing some dumb shenanigans and building things. Once it got late, Leizcio turned off his Ybox 2 and both he and Lavania went into their rooms to go to sleep.
Knowing that he'd be back in the field tomorrow, Leizcio tossed himself to bed, getting some much-needed rest. It was rare that Leizcio would have days that were laid back. But he was glad that he got to make a new friend and spend some time to himself and with his sister and cat.
As his eyes began to close, he slept with a small smile on his face
