Cye made it into the city as the storm finished. He still couldn't believe his best friend did something so insane. Cye was still furious with him, but he still wanted to understand what he was thinking. The blue Ronin knew he had to give Kento a chance to explain himself. Something else had to be going on. But what? Why wouldn't he tell them, or maybe for some chance he couldn't. At the moment, Cye didn't have time to talk with him. He was more concerned about trying to track down his sister.
Cye glanced at his cell. He could see Kaye's phone was still active. Being grateful to Rowen for showing him how to use the phone tracking app was starting to pay off for him. Cye pulled off to the side of the road and glanced around his surroundings. He sensed something was off, but it was faint. Cye glanced at his app, and it picked up more of a solid signal across the way. He went over and saw a bench with a cell phone sticking out halfway. He pocketed his phone and raced over to investigate. Reaching towards the half-hidden phone, he picked it up. Cye's eyes went wide. He recognized it as his sister's phone. "Kaye!" Cye called out as he put her cell in his pocket. He frowned when there was no answer.
Cye felt his adrenaline go off big time. His mind whirled with question after question. Was Kaye all right? Did she get involved in a fight? "Kaye! Answer me!" Still no answer. 'Where would you go?' The whole situation didn't sit well with him.
Cye needed answers. He decided to go to the place where it all started, the airport. Cye crossed back to the jeep and was once again on the road. He weaved in and out of traffic. Most of the time, he was a cautious driver. But today, he couldn't afford the luxury. It didn't take long for Cye to arrive. He parked and hurried over to security.
The security officer glanced up and saw him coming, "Cye, it's good to see you."
Cye nodded. "Good to see you too, Vic, but this isn't a social call. I need to see the footage from today's flights in regard to the arrivals from China."
Vic had an idea about Cye's request. "You're referring to Kento's arrival on today's flights."
Cye was taken aback by surprise. He frowned when he got over his shock. "What do you know?"
Vic motioned Cye to come to the security office. He waited until Cye entered, and then he shut the door. "Kento's arrival has been the main talk all day."
Cye frowned in confusion, "What are you saying?"
"There was a fight in the waiting area. Kaye was on the lookout for Kento. He and this woman were informing Kaye about their marriage. When I heard, say the least, I was confused. Anyway, as the fight, escalated crowds of people stopped and watched the scene. They couldn't believe he was acting like, well, for lack of a better word, an ass to Kaye. His wife wasn't any better."
"What do you mean?"
Vic frowned. He closed his eyes for a moment and then opened them. "She cruelly treated your sister. I can't believe Kento married such a woman. He stood there and let it happen. From what the onlookers reported to security, the woman enjoyed every moment of it. Kento didn't even go after Kaye when she raced out of the airport. To me, he didn't sound like the same Kento I used to know. Gomen Cye, if I had been on shift and knew about this, I would have had the two of them escorted off the grounds."
Cye shook his head, "It isn't your fault Vic. But I do appreciate you telling me. I was curious, did the cameras pick up which way Kaye went?"
"No, but I did notice three figures in the corner of the footage. I couldn't get a clear visual. It might be nothing."
"Did you notice anything at all about them?"
"Only they took off in the same general direction Kaye did. Not entirely sure. I'm sorry, I couldn't be more of a help."
Cye shook his head, "You gave me more information than what I started."
Vic glanced towards the door as he contemplated something, "Cye, wait. Maybe you'll be able to see something I missed. I'll let you check the footage yourself. I have to bring it up. It will take a few minutes for me to do so if you'll hang around while I get it on the screen."
Cye blinked in surprise. "Vic, are you sure? I wouldn't want you to get into trouble."
Vic glanced up from the screen with a smirk, "I won't get into trouble. I got promoted to head of security a few months ago. So I'll be able to have access to whatever I need."
Cye grinned, "Congratulations!"
Vic nodded. "Thanks, now to find, ah here we go. Come around here and watch it. I'll give you some time alone. When finished watching, you can leave it, and I'll close it out for you."
Cye hurried over to the other side of the counter and leaned over the screen. He glanced up towards his friend, "Thanks, I appreciate this."
Vic waved it off like it was nothing. "Don't mention it. Let me know how things work out when everything settles."
Cye watched as his friend left the security office and then turned his attention to the screen. He pressed play and watched. Cye winced when he saw how the scene between Kaye, Kento, and Sana went. Everything Vic told him, he could see it happening. He couldn't hear what was said. Cye continued to watch as Cye saw Kaye race out of the door. He kept his eyes on the screen and did see the three figures Vic mentioned. 'They did follow her. Who are they? Why did they follow my sister?'
Cye went back a few more frames and froze the shot of the three. He glanced around the screen and saw a zoom option. Cye clicked on it, and he had the screen blow up the section which held them. He studied them and couldn't see anything until he focused on the tallest one. There were some markings on his neck. Cye zoomed on the tallest one and got a closer look. 'Tattoo?'
Cye pulled back with a deep frown. He got all he could from the footage. Cye walked to the door and out of the security office. He glanced around and didn't see Vic. 'He must be taking care of something.' Cye walked towards the waiting room, where Kaye met up with Kento. He wanted to check out for himself if he could find anything. Cye made it and took a look around. He frowned when he didn't see anything. So then he made his way to the door where he saw Kaye ran. Cye looked around the grounds outside the door. He was about to leave when he spotted something and knelt to pick it up. 'What the bloody hell?!' It was a group photo of all of them together, and what shook him up more than the photo was recent. Taken the day Kento left for china. They were at the gate where Kento and Kaye were saying their goodbyes. He and the others watched from the back. 'We were being watched? Why?'
Cye stood and put the picture in his pocket. He raced back to where he parked the jeep and decided to head home since Kaye's trail turned cold. Who would be watching them? What would be their reasoning? The more he thought about it more questions the situation raised.
Rowen glanced at his watch. "Cye's been gone for a few hours."
Sage glanced at him, "I'm sure he's ok. Cye can take care of himself. Besides, it could be possible he found Kaye. They could be talking."
"Maybe..." Rowen was going to continue but then looked towards the door when he heard Cye enter. "Did you find her?"
Cye walked into the living room and shook his head.
Ryo studied him and saw how upset his friend was about the situation. "You did find something."
Cye nodded. "I found Kaye's phone under a bench by a building, and then I went to the airport and talked to Vic. He helped me by showing the footage of what happened when Kaye went to pick up Kento."
Ryo, Rowen, and Sage glanced at one another. They turned their attention towards him. "What did you see? Was it how Kento and Sana said how it went?"
Cye nodded. "Yes. I saw, but I couldn't hear what was said. It seems we might have a bigger problem."
Ryo frowned. "What do you mean?"
"I saw the footage of three strangers taking off in the same direction as Kaye when she ran. The tallest one had some tattoo on his neck. The details were hard to make out. But from what I could see, the tattoo seemed to be thorns. Plus, I found this on the ground." Cye informed them as he pulled out the photo and handed it to Ryo.
The red Ronin took the photo and looked at it. He had the same surprise reaction Cye did when he first laid eyes upon it.
Sage and Rowen walked over towards them. "Ryo?"
They looked at the photo and blinked in surprise. "It seems like there's more going on here than we realize."
"I think we need to talk with Mr. Rei Faun again. I can't shake the feeling he's holding something back from us." Sage suggested, and then he looked over at Cye. "I can understand how hard this is for you right now. But if we're going to figure out what's happening, then we need to come at it at all angles."
Cye looked over at him and nodded. "I know. I want to understand what's going on more than the rest of you."
"Sage is right. We can't hesitate. Besides, I'm sure Kento's parents would want some clarity too." Rowen suggested.
Ryo gave the picture back to Cye. "In the meantime, maybe we can call around to Kaye's other friends and see if she went to contact them. They could have run into her or something."
Cye studied Ryo, "Could be possible." He sighed while he rubbed his eyes and then walked past them as he headed upstairs.
Ryo, Rowen, and Sage watched their friend until they heard his door shut. Ryo turned and faced them, "I think we might need to keep a close eye on Cye."
"Do you think he might try and go out on his own? Seriously? It is Cye we are talking about Ryo. Cye wouldn't go and venture out on his own." Rowen shook his head.
Sage thought over what Ryo said, "I'm not so sure, Rowen. This situation is hitting Cye the hardest out of all of us. I mean, think about it. We would more likely do the same thing if we were in his situation. At least, I know I would."
"Well, let's go over what we have known so far. We had the picture of us at the airport when Kento flew to China. He was gone for a little over a month and is married to Sana. Kaye went to pick him up at the airport, and they had a huge fight. She ran off. Three strangers possibly took off after her, with one of them having a thorn tattoo on his neck. Mr. Rei Faun being secretive about something in regard to Sana. Kento and Sana in the process of moving into their new home. Which we have no idea where they moved." Rowen responded as he started to list off what has happened so far.
"I do know where the two of them moved," Ryo said, a bit sheepish.
Rowen and Sage blinked. "What? How do you know where they live?"
"I went to check the mail and saw an invitation to their open house," Ryo replied as he pulled it out of his pocket and presented it to them.
"Does Cye know about this?" Sage asked as he handed it back to him.
Ryo shook his head. "No, but I'll make sure to show it to him later. Right now, I think if he did know, he might go there on his own and confront them without us. Cye isn't in his right mind. He's concerned about Kaye and still pissed off at Kento."
Rowen sighed. "I don't blame the guy. But keeping this from him, I don't think is the best of ideas either, Ryo."
"I agree, but at the moment, we need to be here the best we can for Cye. I'll deal with the consequences of my decision of not showing him the invite later." Ryo replied as he turned his attention to the stairs when he heard Cye coming down. "Any luck?"
"No, none of Kaye's other friends have heard from her. But they said they would let me know if she reaches out to them."
Ryo frowned a bit when he watched Cye go towards the back door. "Where are you going?"
Cye stopped and glanced back at him. "I'm just going to the lake. I need to do some thinking and clear my head."
Ryo glanced at Sage and Rowen. He then followed Cye outside and stopped at the porch. Ryo stayed back to give Cye some space and watched him from there.
Cye was grateful for their support, but there are times when a person needed to be alone. It was one of those times. He walked to the edge of the dock and sat down. His legs brought up against him as he wrapped his arms around and lowered his chin to his knees. His eyes went soft as they gazed upon the water.
