"It's been a few days, but your letter should be coming by today right?" Lavania asked Leizcio while they were relaxing on the couch with pech sleeping in the middle.
"Should, hopefully, I manage to get in."
Lavania jabs him lightly on the shoulder hearing this.
"Hey!"
"C'mon, you're gonna make it, you studied a lot for the written exam, and there's no doubt you aced the practical exam."
"That might be true, but I guess I'm just worried for some reason."
"Don't worry, you're going to do great things when you get there." Lavania reassures him, patting him on the shoulder.
-knock- -knock-
Hearing the door, they both get up and check to see if it was the letter being dropped off. As they look down, they see a letter with a red stamp on it. And without a doubt, the UA symbol was embedded in it. They both rush back upstairs heading into Leizcio's room to see the results. Leizcio sits down, shaking a bit, nervous about what it'll say. But his sister puts her hands on his shoulders, calming his senses. As he opens the letter, a small disc comes out of it.
"... Seriously?"
"Yeah like what the-
"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!" A holographic All Might yells, shocking both Leizcio and Lavania.
"Young Villa, you scored well and passed the written exam, however your practical was the real show! An amazing display of skills and utilizing your quirk! Not many who enter UA understand their quirk so well! You passed it with 55 points, however, that is not all! You also pulled someone to safety from the zero-pointer adding 20 points! You will do great here! Now come, for this is now your hero academia!"
The projection of All might shortly cut out as Leizcio sits there with disbelief. Something younger him once thought impossible, to the present him working hard to be his best, his dreams have become one step closer to reality. He can finally start to become a pro-hero. Tears of joy slowly fall down his face, droplets marking his desk. He knows that his mother, wherever she is now, is proud of him. And he'll do his damn best to continue to do so.
Lavania also cries for she sees the spirit of their mom burn brightly within Leizcio's soul. Who knows why he got his quirk until now. But to see him happy and becoming who he wants to be, she is overfilled with happiness. She'll be damned if any villains or Mashito get in their way. She'll do her best to support Leizcio and keep him smiling and help him fulfill his dream.
Leizcio stands up from his seat, hugging Lavania, both happy for him and all he's done. No matter what hardships they face in the future, their small family will continue to smile brightly.
After reading through the rest of the contents in the letter, they went ahead and cooked up some food to celebrate and ate leftover pastries to substitute for a cake. After the number of things they've been through, it was nice to have a reminder that great things can still happen in life even when everything piles onto you all at once. It was a day of relaxation that both of them deserved after long last.
Shortly after, they cleaned up and went to bed, resting and awaiting the day which he goes to UA for the first time. Things would continue as normal, as both waited for spring to arrive so that Leizcio could go to UA. Leizcio took a step down from his vigilante role and helped out his sister as much as he could with the cafe.
The weather starts to become warmer, providing comfortable air around. The rain is more delicate and passes by rather quickly.
Spring has finally arrived.
-knock- -knock-
"Leizcio wake up!" Lavania muffled through the door.
Leizcio's eyes opened up slowly, wondering why he was waking up so early. Checking his clock, there's like an hour and a half before school starts. The train only takes about 15 minutes to get there. Reluctantly he opens the door with his eyes half-open but still giving a glare to Lavania.
"Why'd you wake me up so early?"
"Did you even prepare anything for today?"
Leizcio glances at his room behind him. His backpack is empty, his uniform isn't laid out on his chair as he had planned to. He still looked like a mess. Yeah, maybe he wasn't prepared.
"Good point." Leizcio says as he starts getting his things ready as Lavania walks downstairs to get the cafe ready. He packs whatever he thinks he'll need into his backpack, quickly checking to see if he has all the recommended things to bring. He hops into the shower and takes a bit to make himself appear just a tiny bit better. Usually, he wouldn't care but since UA is known to be prestigious, it'd probably be best to leave a good first impression. Finishing up, he grabs his backpack and starts to head out. But as soon as he makes it down the stairs, a bunch of customers, new and loyal cheered him on, congratulating him on making it to UA. A bit embarrassed by all the attention, he thanks them and makes his way out. Not before Lavania checks on him making sure he has everything and giving him a small push outside telling him to have a good day.
As Leizcio makes his way to the station, he thinks back to his time as a vigilante. It might not have been too long ago, but it feels like a lot that happened in a short amount of time. Facing all those villains and doing some small things here and there. While he knows that it's illegal to do such things, he can't help but want to get back into it. But he'll just have to wait until he gets that license.
Arriving at the station, he sees Uraraka waiting and she saw him, greeting him. Waving back, Leizcio walked up and stood next to her waiting for the train to arrive.
"You ready for today?"
"Yeah! Just wondering what we're going to be doing today!"
"Same, just glad that we're in the same class!"
When both of them had received news of their acceptance, they texted each other congratulating and seeing what class they'd be in. Class 1-A. Leizcio also had texted Kirishima and Kaminari about it, learning that they're also in the same class. While it may not seem as much, Leizcio was glad to have some friends going into all of this. When the train arrived, Uraraka and Leizcio got on and waited until they reached their destination.
Shortly after arriving at UA, they both searched for where their class would be. Finding it, they walked in until they saw a familiar green-haired guy. Looks like some tall guy with glasses was talking to him.
"Oh, that curly hair! The plain-looking boy!" Uraraka said, recognizing him and glad to see that he passed. Leizcio decided he'd introduce himself to the guy with glasses meanwhile. But he felt that something was approaching. Looking to his right, he saw none other than Aizawa... in a yellow sleeping bag? Either way, remembering Lavania's advice on him, he quickly found his seat and sat down.
"If you're here to socialize then get out," Aizawa said from his sleeping bag. He slowly got out of it and proceeded to talk about how irrational it was that it took 8 seconds to quiet down. Taking a uniform out of his bag, he instructs the class to put it on and meet at the field outside.
Once outside the field where Aizawa had met the class, Leizcio was able to understand more or less that their quirks were about to be tested.
"What about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?" Uraraka had asked.
"If you're going to become a hero, you don't have time for such leisurely events." Aizawa explained, then talking about how UA allows for freestyle education for the teachers as well, going on about how it's irrational that the country prohibits quirks when it comes to calculating the averages of gym tests. Aizawa then calls out to some spiky-haired kid, Bakugo apparently, and asks him to do the softball with his quirk.
'I wonder what his quirk is.' Leizcio thought to himself.
As Bakugo pitched the ball, he sent it off flying with an explosion. Yelling," Die!" as he did.
'Okay, so he explodes stuff, and die?' Leizcio thought, questioning Bakugo's word choice.
Leizcio's classmates were impressed with the score, talking about how fun it looks, being able to use their quirks, and such.
"It looks fun huh?" Aizawa asked, bringing a silence.
"You have three years to become a hero. Will you have an attitude like that the whole time? All right. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be punished with expulsion."
A collective noise of confusion was heard from all the students, hearing such a thing happen on just the first day at UA.
"Welcome to UA's hero course!"
A bit of confusion is brought about in the class as well as a bit of fear. But from what Leizcio could gather from what Lavania has told him and Aizawa's nature in general, it's probably just a ruse for them to do their best.
As Aizawa went on a speech about how unfair things can be and how heroes turn them around, Leizcio was thinking of how he'd fare in the tests. 50-meter dash, sidestepping, were probably the ones he'd do best in. The other tests would be an average score at best. Once Aizawa said the demonstration was over, the events began. On the 50-meter dash, Leizcio's score was around 0.5 of a second. The following event, grip strength, all those years of working out, and boxing with Lavania in their personal gym in the basement was worth it. He managed to score about 65kg. Standing long jump was pretty average, he couldn't use his quirk to boost him since he'd need a running start to do so. Side stepping was relatively easy considering his speed. The ball throw was up and was shocked by Uraraka's score. While he knew her quirk, he didn't think it could actually send something floating for so long. However, broccoli boy was up next (he really needs to learn his name) and he seemed nervous. Leizcio took notice that he was struggling a bit with the tests and was a bit worried for him. But if what Uraraka said was true about how he beat the zero-pointer in one punch but ended up breaking his bones in the process, it makes sense that he wouldn't want to use his quirk.
'Oh damn, he boutta throw that thing with intent.' Leizcio thought to himself as he saw Midoriya's arm begin to glow. But it was shortly stopped, and the ball went only around 46 meters. No doubt Aizawa used his quirk to stop him. Leizcio only knows any of this since he's known Aizawa for a bit as a customer at the cafe. But he guesses that everyone else is just now learning who he is. Scolding broccoli boy, he gives him one more chance.
As the green-haired boy gets ready to throw again, he seems more determined. As he throws the ball, gusts of wind were created. The softball being thrown high into the air earning him a high score. And he only had a broken finger.
Leizcio was mentally cheering him on, glad to see that he found a way around his quirk to the point to be effective and minimize any setbacks. Then he saw that Bakugo started running towards him in what looked like a fit of rage. Whatever it was, Leizcio found it weird as hell, but luckily, Aizawa dealt with him and calmed him down, kinda.
The other tests went on, and Leizcio did decently well. Once all the events were all finished, Aizawa gathered the students around him and proceeded to show the results. Interested, Leizcio looked at who placed last. Izuku Midoriya. No doubt that was green-haired kid, he had hopes for him but Leizcio knew that he wasn't performing all that well, especially after the softball throw. But luckily, he knew that the expelling was all just a trick and couldn't wait to see Midoriya's reaction.
"By the way, I was lying about the expulsion. It was a rational deception to draw out the upper limits of your quirks." Aizawa said with a grin on his face.
As expected, lots of the class were taken aback by this, especially Midoriya. Leizcio held back his laughter looking at Midoriya's spooked face. As the class calmed down, Aizawa instructed them to head back to the classroom and look at the handouts they have in there. Other than Midoriya being told to go to the nurse's office, the rest of the day continued. It was rather uneventful, but Leizcio was glad that the first day of class went well.
Exiting the building, Leizcio and Uraraka talked about how the first day was and such and they spotted Midoriya and Iida. They decided to catch up to them as it seemed that they were going to the station as well.
"Hey wait up for us!" Leizcio shouted at them as he and Uraraka approached them.
"Ah, infinity girl." Iida states
"I'm Ochaco Uraraka and this over here is Leizcio Villa!"
"Hi!"
"Um, you're Teny Iida and you're 'Deku' Midoriya, right?" Uraraka said remembering their names. Mostly.
"Deku?!"
"Hold on, I'm pretty sure his name is Izuku Midoriya."
"It is my real name, but D-Deku is what Kacchan calls me to make fun of me..."
"An insult?"
"That's strange."
"Is that right?"
"Sorry!"
"But Deku sounds like the Japanese word for 'you can do it!' So I kinda like it!"
"I'm Deku!" Midoriya exclaims out of nowhere confusing both Iida and Leizcio.
"You're accepting it too easily! Wasn't that an insult?"
"Yeah, Iida's got a point!"
After figuring out the names, the four of them went ahead to the station, making small talk on the way there. Leizcio was a bit afraid of what UA would be like, considering he didn't really have many friends until Uraraka, and now Midoriya and Iida.
Once they all went their own ways home, Leizcio came back and saw that the shop was closed for some reason. Usually, it closes much later into the day. Leizcio walks in slowly and doesn't see pech running down the stairs. Now that's concerning, as it was practically a ritual for pech every day when he came back from school. Staying on guard, he walks slowly through the cafe until the lights turn on and Lavania and pech jump from behind the counter. This gave Leizcio a bit of a heart attack but he was glad to see them.
"Congrats on your first day at UA Leizcio! Now come on upstairs, we got you your favorite cake and some gifts from some of the customers!"
Heading upstairs with them Leizcio saw a beautiful cake with peanut butter frosting sitting on the dining table. His favorite cake that Lavania would always get for him whenever they celebrated something for him. They both sat down and enjoyed the cake, Leizcio telling Lavania all about his day, later opening the gifts from their patrons. Lots of loyal patrons are from when Lavania first opened the cafe, and they're glad to see Leizcio grow up to become an aspiring hero. It touched Leizcio that people believed and supported him and his dreams.
He felt lucky to be happy and to have his friends and small family with him.
