'Mother is cruel as I remember. I'm rather curious to inquire how she knew the Nephilim never took a human life before today. She has been good about reading people. It was more of a test than anything.' Ammon thought to himself as he stood from his desk after observing the same fight Sana and Kento watched. He left his room and walked to the railing, and leaned over it. Ammon glanced down and saw Kento joining Sana. 'He's severely pissed. I don't blame him. I bet he's not used to feeling helpless like this.'
Sana glanced up and saw her son watching and gave a smirk as she heard Kento approach her from behind. She turned her attention towards him.
Kento narrowed his eyes at her, "What was the point of the fight, to show off your control over people?"
Sana laughed, "In part. Every one of my assassins pledged their loyalty to me. They follow what I say and never question my orders."
He crossed his arms, "Hmph, sounds more like a cult if you ask me."
She ran her fingers lightly along the side of Kento's face, "I suppose you can think of it as such. But also, it's been a long time since I've witnessed a blood innocence taken from them. Nowadays, people are too bloodthirsty. It is easier to bring people into the clan because they crave the same as me. But such a find to have someone who hasn't spilled human blood is a rare treat."
Kento grabbed Sana's hand and whipped it away from him as he let go and moved away from her. A low growl emitted from his throat. "You make me sick. There should have been no reason for you to force them to fight to the death."
"Choosing life, what a joke. Whatever has life done for anyone anyway?"
"You're kidding me? Sure, life may be hard at times. But those struggles help make people stronger. Then there are the times when people meet others who make life worth living, worth protecting. You lost sight of what makes life important. What is important to me are my family, my friends, and my angel. I won't allow anyone to take them away from me." Kento shot back.
Sana narrowed her eyes at him as they held a dangerous gleam. "Be careful on how you talk to me. Or I might forget you're my husband."
Kento narrowed his eyes right back at her, "Forget all you want. Do your worst to me. I don't care. But you are to keep the ones I do care for alone. If you don't, then I will fight you with everything I got. I won't hold back. I don't care if you are a lady."
Sana looked amused, "Bold words, but do you have the mettle to back them up?"
He clenched his fists as he was trying his best to keep his temper in check. Kento knew she was pushing to fight. It was taking all of his will to hold himself back at the moment. He had to wait. Kento knew he couldn't risk their lives on his short temper.
Ammon could hear what the two of them said. He frowned as he thought about Kento's words. He saw his mother flinch ever so slightly from what Kento proclaimed. 'His words made an impact on her. How? I never thought it would be possible for her to feel anything.' He pushed away from the railing and started to walk towards the basement. Ammon typed in a few commands, and then a secret door opened.
He kept walking for a while underground. Similar to the other passageway leading from the living room. But this one had a slight difference from the many more under the new home. Whatever his mother desired, she got no matter what. Once again, Kento's words came back to him. It seems he and Kento have something in common. Talk about irony at its best.
Ammon punched in new commands, and another door opened. He stood in the doorway for a moment when he saw Kaye still in her fetal position laying on the floor with her wings laid upon her back. Blood pooled between her and the deadly assassin who laid in front of her. He walked towards them and stopped as he took a closer look. To Ammon, he knew the corpse was nothing more than an empty husk with no trace of a soul remaining. When he was a child, he often wondered what happened to a soul taken before their time. Ammon shook the idea from his head and knelt as he reached for the Nephilim.
Kaye flinched when she felt someone touch her, startled she stared at him in fright. She could still feel her body trembling. Kaye was slow to move. The memory of what she did stretch like a shadow in her mind.
Ammon pulled back a bit as he kept his eyes on her. "I'm not going to hurt you."
Kaye found her voice, "Who..."
"It doesn't matter who I am. At the moment, what is important is to get you taken care of." Ammon started to say as he got to his feet. "Can you stand?"
Kaye pushed herself to sit up. Her wings fluttered a bit and then vanished. Her hand bumped against something behind her. She glanced back and saw the corpse. Kaye flinched away as she felt her heart race. The memories of what happened flooded back to her. The last words from the dead assassin echoed in her mind, 'Your blood innocence is mine.'
"I see, it's coming back to you. Look, you can either come with me and get cleaned up, or you can stay here with the dead body. The choice is yours." Ammon proposed as he studied her.
Kaye glanced between the corpse and the stranger. "Not much for a choice."
Ammon raised a brow, "Well?"
"I'm coming. Can you need to give me a minute," Kaye replied as she steadied herself and then got to her feet? She stumbled a bit but then became more steady with each step. "So, where is it you are taking me?"
"Just across the hall to another room where you can wash the blood from you. There are clean clothes inside as well. While you are getting cleaned, I'll have others come in here and get rid of the body and clean the room." Ammon told her as he leads the way to the far wall.
Kaye followed him and then stopped when she saw the door whoosh open. Just as she was about to rush past him, automatic walls shot up on either side of the hall. They were preventing her from going anywhere but straight ahead. Kaye glanced at Ammon with a glare, but she could see it didn't phase him.
Ammon punched in a few commands and opened the automatic door on the other end. "Shall we?" He walked ahead of her and into the other room.
Kaye sighed and followed him inside. She glanced around. What he told her was true. There was a bathroom, a fresh set of clothes set out on a counter and a trash can.
"I'll leave you. So then this way you can have your privacy. It'll take a while to get your other room ready so take your time." Ammon said as he walked to the door and typed a few commands. The door opened, and he walked through it then whooshed shut behind him.
Kaye hurried to the spot where the automatic door was, and she found nothing more than a smooth wall. She made her way back to the bathroom and turned on the water. Kaye waited until it was warm enough and then took her clothes off and stepped inside. Kaye leaned her forehead upon the wall and just let the water pound on her body. The water pushed the blood down the drain. She reached for the soap and a rag. Kaye started to scrub her body so hard it became raw. No matter how hard or how long she tried to wash away the death she helped commit, the event will forever be in her memories. She finished with the shower and then dried off as she dressed in the new clothes for her.
Kaye felt her tears stream down her face. She remembered Kento saw her kill the assassin. 'It was a fight for survival,' Thinking to self-justifying what happened. 'I couldn't let her kill me. I had to. I never wanted to take her life. Would they do the same if they were in the same situation? I can't go back and return her life.'
Time passed, Kaye wasn't sure how much. The one who brought her here was the main one who would be able to let her out. He wasn't back yet, just who was he? Where was she? How much time has passed since she's been here? Did the others believe she just ran off because of what happened at the airport? Did they think something else happened? Her head started to pound from all the questions. There was not much she could do except to wait for him to come back for her.
Ammon supervised the removal of the corpse from Kaye's room. He made sure there was not a single drop of blood anywhere. 'The Nephilim didn't need a constant physical reminder of the loss of her blood innocence.' He then ordered for them to bring food, drink, and bandages to the room.
They nodded and left to retrieve what he told them to get as he waited for their return. Ammon started to think of an idea. It was a long shot. But maybe it might work. Though he still had much to do for his plan to put in place. Ammon saw the food, drink, and bandages delivered. Ammon dismissed them. He waited until they were gone and then made the walls connecting the two rooms appear once again.
The automatic door opened a few hours later, and he stood in the doorway. His eyes scanned the room and saw Kaye sitting on the floor propped up with her back against the wall. "Everything is taken care of in your room. It's time to return."
Kaye looked over towards him, her forearm resting on her knees. "You mean I can't stay here. Darn, and here I was starting to become comfortable."
Ammon smirked, "Even with what you're going through, you still are a bit cheeky."
"It isn't the first time being a prisoner."
"True, since you have mystical armor like the rest of them, plus being a Nephilim," Ammon replied as he saw her expression of surprise.
"How did you?"
"It doesn't matter. The Jade Thorns know much about magic, especially as of late. Since our leader and her private assassins have stumbled upon it a year or so ago."
Kaye raised a brow, "Wait, private assassins? You mean the three jackasses who brought me here in the first place?"
Ammon chuckled, "Yes, those three, and from what I've found out, you gave them a run for their money as well."
"I was having a bad day. What do you expect?" Kaye shot back.
"Come along, I have food, drink in your room, plus I can bandage you from your fight."
Kaye studied him suspiciously, "Explain yourself. Why are you kind to me? What's in it for you? Some hidden agenda?"
Ammon shook his head, "I don't need to explain anything. I don't have to be kind. I have no reason to be like the ones from your past and torture you endlessly. But I figured it wouldn't do any good. Plus, it'll piss off a certain orange Ronin if you're hurt any more than you already are. Besides, I doubt he would continue to be loyal to Sana, and it would be counterproductive to her plans."
Kaye felt there was more to the story than what he's telling her. She studied him a bit more. What he told her so far made sense, but still, something was off. "From your tone. You don't sound like you favor Kento much."
Here was the reaction Kaye was looking for she hit a nerve. She watched him closely. "What is it about Kento you don't care for?"
Ammon whirled around and glanced back at her. "Are you coming?"
Kaye frowned a bit. This guy was hiding more than he was telling. It was starting to annoy her. She sighed and then pushed herself up from the floor and followed Ammon. Kaye saw there was still no exit. She had to bide her time to figure things.
When the two made it to the other side, the automatic door whooshed open, and he leads Kaye to her other room. She glanced around and noticed the deceased assassin was gone, and the blood-soaked floor is now clean. Kaye took notice of the food and drink on the altar, along with the bandages.
Ammon picked up the bandages and made his way to her. "Hold out your arms." He watched as she did what he instructed and started to bandage her wounds. It didn't take long for him to do the bandaging. Once finished, he shoved the remaining bandaging into his pocket.
Kaye studied her hands and arms. She then looked at him as she approached the altar. "Since you know about me and the others. It would be fair to ask your name."
"I suppose. My name is Ammon. I am the son of our leader, Sana."
Kaye blinked in surprise. "Sana's son," Then she felt her anger kick in, "Is this part of your mother's plan too? For you to befriend me, so I'd trust you?"
Ammon growled as he clenched his fists, "Think what you want. I have my reasons. You don't need to know them!" He stormed over to the area where the automatic door was as he typed in a few commands, and it whooshed open. He then went through, and it closed behind him and left Kaye alone.
Kaye started to calm. She then went to the altar and looked over the display. Everything looked safe enough to eat and drink as far as she could tell. The only way to know for sure was to try them. Kaye reached towards a small portion and sampled. Nothing happened. She sighed in relief as she took her time with the meal provided. Who knew the next time she was going to get her next meal.
