It didn't take them long to arrive near Sana's mansion. The Ronins and Ammon watched from a cliff overlooking the property.
Ammon picked up a backup device he had stashed in a few different places for such an emergency. He studied the security feed. "Looks like my mother has more of her assassins on patrol duty. She must be expecting a fight."
Rowen nodded, "I agree. It would be a suicide mission to take them head-on."
Ryo frowned, "Then how are we going to get inside without being seen?"
Ammon glanced up from his device. "I was waiting for one of you to ask."
Sage raised a brow, "So are you going to tell us or keep the suspense going?"
"Gomen, as I was going to say. There are multiple secret passageways to the underground tunnels inside the mansion. But what I never told anyone, including my mother, when I scouted out the grounds before, I found secret entrances outside as well."
"Ammon, keeping secrets from your mother." Rowen teased with a smirk.
He shrugged, "Yeah, well, I keep a lot more from her than she realizes. I know she has been keeping things from me too."
Sage glanced around, "So, what's the plan?"
"You guys take the secret passageways. I'll go in the front door." Kento replied as he stared at the ground.
The Ronins and Ammon looked over at him, "Kento, you can't..."
Kento shook his head, "No, Cye, I have to. They won't attack me if I go to the main entrance alone."
Cye scowled at him, "It has to be the craziest idea you ever had! Forget it! You're coming with us!"
Kento stood up abruptly from the boulder he sat. His eyes held great determination showing there was no way he was going to change his mind. "It has to be this way. Once I'm inside, Sana would more likely be waiting for me. Then I'll be able to buy the rest of you enough time to find us."
Ryo closed his eyes and thought over what Kento proposed. His eyes opened, "I hate to admit this, but Kento has a point. It's a solid plan."
Cye looked between Ryo and Kento in disbelief, "You can't be serious!"
Kento looked at his best friend with concern. "Look, I know you don't care for this plan. But Cye, I have to do this. I need to redeem myself. To make things right again with my parents, you, the others, and Kaye. They're in danger because of me. You know you have to let me do this my way. So, let me do this."
"I still believe you're insane for even making the suggestion. But I'll go along with it because I believe in you. I know you'll do whatever it takes to get Kaye and your parents back from Sana." Cye replied with a nod.
Kento smirked, "Besides, when have you ever know me to sneak around? I've always been the in-your-face type of guy."
Cye chuckled, "Good point." He turned his attention to the others. "Alright, let's get going."
Kento walked to Ammon, "Hey, I'm sorry for taking on Sana myself and robbing you of your revenge. I have no idea what kind of man your father was, but deep down, I don't think he would want you to try and avenge him. Instead, I think he would want you to do what you could to break away from the Jade Thorns yourself and live your own life."
Ammon blinked in surprise as he thought over what Kento said to him. "Oh really? What makes you believe he would have wanted such a thing for me?"
"Because it's what I want for you too. You deserve a better life than this. From the start, you never accepted me as your stepfather." Kento started to say, "I'm still fine with it. I never expected you to accept me in such a role. I never had any intention of taking your father's place."
Ammon was still beyond startled. He felt tears starting to gather. Ammon raised his hand and rubbed his eyes. He then lowered his hand, "Thank you."
Kento smiled at him, "Ok, now we're done with the warm and fuzzy lifetime moment, let's go and kick assassin ass!"
Laughter erupted from the group. Leave it up to Kento to break the tension. They laughed a bit longer and then collected themselves.
"Well, here goes nothing," Kento said as he waved and then started his way down the cliff and towards the mansion.
The other Ronins and Ammon watched over Kento. They were making sure he was going to make it to the front door without anyone attacking him. They continued to watch and were amazed. Furthermore, they left him alone. There was no way they were going to admit it to him. Once they saw Kento enter, the Ronins turned to Ammon. "Alright, where is the nearest secret opening?"
Kento glanced around. He could see every floor piled with assassins. None of them made a move towards him. All they did was watch. It unnerved him a bit, but he didn't show any indication. "Where is my wife?" Kento asked in a loud tone.
Not one of them moved or replied to his question. Kento frowned a bit when he noticed this. 'She ordered them to be like this, I bet.' He thought to himself. "I'm going to ask one more time. I expect an answer! Where. Is. My. Wife?" Again, no word and no movement. Kento started to feel agitated. 'Breathe, don't let this get to you.'
Sana's voice came over an intercom. "Lead my husband to us. We are waiting for him."
"Sana!" Kento cried out but scowled when she didn't answer. He saw one of the assassins step forward and motion for him to follow. Kento watched him take the lead, and then he walked behind him. It didn't take long for the two of them to enter the underground corridor. Kento continued to walk in uneasy silence.
"The entrance we are going to take is behind those boulders," Ammon replied as he leads them to the hidden opening. He put his device in his pocket and went to the door.
Rowen raised a brow at him, "No commands to type? How do we enter?"
Ammon smirked, "Well, we could say a magical phrase, or we could push it open."
Sage chuckled, "He got you there, Rowen."
"Yeah. Whatever, let's get inside. I have a feeling Kento is going to need our help soon enough." Rowen responded as he helped Ammon push the door open.
Ammon glanced at them, "This will be the fastest one we can take. So, fair warning, you'll need to brace yourselves because the first step is a major one."
They were going to ask him what he meant. But they couldn't because he vanished within a blink of an eye. The four rushed to the opening and peered inside. It was a straight dropdown. Without a second thought, they willed their sub armors and went down the hatch.
Ammon landed and moved to the side. He waited until all of them joined him. Ammon studied the Ronins. "Sub armors. Nice. Might, as well call upon the rest of your armors. You won't have time to when we arrive."
Kento stood behind the assassin and waited for him to open the automatic door. Once it opened, his guide motioned him to enter. Kento narrowed his eyes at him as he passed, and then once through the doorway, it whooshed shut. He scanned the room. Sana sat on the altar with a sword lying in her lap. Sana's private assassins secured his parents. His blood started to boil when he saw his parents held by this scum. He saw his parents give a slight nod up. Kento frowned a bit but then caught on and looked up, his fists clenched at his side when he saw Kaye secured by chains and shackles in midair. "Kaye!"
The Nephilim glanced down when she heard her name. "Kento."
A deep and twisted laugh came from the altar, "So glad you could make it to our little party."
Kento whirled around and faced his wife, "It wasn't like I was going to miss this reunion. Let my parents and Kaye go! I'm here. You don't need to hold onto them anymore."
Sana shook her head, "Sorry, love, but I do need them." She gripped her sword as she saw Kento take a few steps. "I wouldn't if I were you. Unless, of course, you like to see their lives taken away right in front of you sooner than I intended. I know my assassins are itching to take their kill since they haven't taken lives in a while."
Kento stopped in his tracks. A low growl emitted from his throat. He clenched his fists even tighter as his eyes narrowed. "I want a divorce, you psychotic bitch!"
Sana raised a brow towards him as she played around with her sword. "Well, since you are demanding a divorce, I think I should be able to collect on my debt." She glanced between Kaye hanging in the air and then looked over to her assassins. "Decisions, decisions. Which life to take for payment?"
"You're not taking any of their lives!" Kento shot at her angrily.
"Then you're not getting your divorce," Sana replied in a bored tone.
"I'm not going to sacrifice them! So you can forget it! If you want to take a life, then take mine!" Kento growled.
"Kento!" Mrs. Rei Faun shouted in disbelief as her eyes went wide.
Another laugh emitted from Sana's throat, "Clever, you know I still need you. So this is why you offered your life for theirs. I may not be able to kill you yet, but it doesn't mean I can't cause injury." Sana jumped off the altar and clutched her sword as she swung it into position.
Kento never once flinched from her approach. He watched as Sana shifted into attack position. Kento braced himself for the impact. He stepped back when he saw her wink and then launched into the air towards Kaye. "No! Don't you dare touch her!"
Sana hovered behind Kaye as she held her sword with one hand. "Why don't you present your wings, little Nephilim?"
Mr. and Mrs. Rei Faun glanced at one another in confusion. Nephilim? What did she mean? They looked over at Kento as the two of them could see he understood what Sana meant. "What do you mean? Kaye doesn't have wings. She's a regular person." Mr. Rei Faun said.
A grin spread across Sana's face, "You didn't tell them, my dear husband, about what the woman you love is. Let me guess you didn't tell them about your mystical armor either."
Kento looked away from Sana. He turned around and faced his parents with remorse in his eyes. "Gomen, but what Sana says, it's true. I should have told you a long time ago. But I wasn't sure when it would be the right time. I wasn't sure on how you two would take it."
His parents glanced up towards Kaye and Sana, then back to their son. "Kento, you can tell us anything. You didn't need to feel uncomfortable about telling us anything about your life. It might have taken us some time to process, but we would have accepted what you told us. You're our son. We love you. Plus, we approved of Kaye into our family a long time ago when you two started dating."
"Ma, Pa..." Kento started to say and then whipped his attention up when he heard Kaye yell out in pain. He saw Sana's eyes phased black it meant she activated her powers. Kento saw what caused Kaye to yell out in pain. Sana had her free hand on the back of Kaye's neck and black energy crackled around her throat.
"Gomen, was I disrupting your family time?" Sana taunted as she kept her hand on the back of Kaye's neck.
Kaye locked her eyes with Kento's. Her breathing was rapid as she felt her body tingling from the intense power surge.
"Get away from Kaye now!" Kento barked as he was feeling his rage.
"Aww, I want to show your parents the Nephilim's wings. What's so difficult about my request?" Sana questioned as she pumped up her power even more. She sent another wave of pain through Kaye's body.
Kaye thrashed around from the intensity of the pain. Her eyes squeezed shut as her screams became louder. Kaye was trying to fight with all she had to prevent her wings from being forced out. But as the pain intensified and buried deeper, she couldn't fight against it anymore. Kaye threw her head back as her screams erupted deep from her throat. Her wings appeared as tears ran down her face.
Mr. and Mrs. Rei Faun shocked to see what Sana told them was true. Kaye does have wings. They looked over towards their son and saw his body shaking with extreme rage.
Sana removed her hand from the back of Kaye's neck. She then started to stroke her wings. "Such beautiful wings. I feel privileged to witness such a sight.
