Rowen hurried over to the door and opened it. He poked his head inside, "Hey, is everything ok in here?"
Ryo glanced up towards him, "Yeah, I think so. From what I can tell, Cye's exhausted. He doesn't seem to be hurt."
The blue-haired archer nodded, "Good to know. Talia was able to engrave the angelic runes on Kaye's shoulder blades. It looks like the timing between Cye's internal fight with Damiana and the regeneration process of Kaye's wings sent the demon queen back, at least for now."
Cye brought his head up, exhaustion still evident in his eyes, "Kaye."
"She's alright, Cye. Why don't you see for yourself," Ryo suggested as he nodded in her direction.
Cye turned his attention towards the others. Relief washed over him when he saw his sister peering back at him over her shoulder. "Help me up, would you?"
Ryo nodded as he shifted into a better position and supported Cye as the two of them rose to their feet. Once Ryo made sure Cye was stable enough to stand on his own, he released him.
Rowen moved to the side as he watched Cye pass him. He glanced over at Ryo with a slight frown. "Are you sure everything is ok? I mean, things got pretty intense."
"I'll say it this way, in the combination of Cye fighting the demon queen with his will. As well as with Kaye giving her consent to Talia for regenerating her wings, we would have a large-scale problem." Ryo answered, watching them outside.
Rowen frowned as he stood by his friend, "You don't think it's over, do you?"
Ryo shook his head, "Not by a long shot."
"I thought as much, so what do we do now?"
Ryo sighed, "The only thing we can do, Rowen. Watch and wait."
Talia heard the conversation between Ryo and Rowen. She closed her eyes as she knew they were right. This fight was far from over. Talia opened her eyes and looked towards the small group outside.
Cye approached Kaye and Kento. He stopped when he was within arms reach. Cye took in the angelic runes on Kaye's shoulder blades. Guilt gripped his heart in knowing the position his sister forced to help fight off Damiana.
Kento read the guilt in his best friend's eyes. He felt sorry for him. Kento knew it wasn't Cye's fault. "Hey, how are you doing?"
Cye looked up towards Kento and could see the concern in his eyes. "Exhausted, but overall, fine. I think. I can't sense Damiana's presence in me at the moment. Must mean it worked." Cye looked back at his sister. "Thank you."
Kaye felt Kento release his hold on her as her shirt fell back down into place. She turned around and faced her brother. Kaye embraced him as she felt his arms embrace her in return.
Kento grinned when he watched the brother and sister. He then looked over at Sage and nodded.
Sage smiled back, but then he turned to check on Talia. He frowned a bit when he saw the seriousness in her eyes. "Talia."
The Nephilim snapped out of her thoughts, "Sorry, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I believe all of you need to listen to what I have to say."
Ryo and Rowen joined the others outside. They had a hunch in what Talia was going to say.
Cye and Kaye broke their embrace and turned their attention towards her as well.
Talia looked around and saw everyone had their attention on her. "Yes, Cye was able to fight off Damiana, and Kaye allowed me to regenerate her wings. The two events helped stop her for the moment, but the demon queen is far from being destroyed. She is experiencing a temporary setback. Damiana will return and try to reclaim Cye again. For now, all we can do is watch and wait. Also, in the meantime, I can help Kaye with retraining her to use her Nephilim powers until her wings are entirely regenerated."
Sage frowned as he thought over what she said, "So you're telling us everything we have been through was only the beginning?"
Talia nodded, "I'm sorry, but yes, you are correct. There will be more to come. What, I don't know. But I will help you as much as I'm allowed. There may be times I won't be able to help because of the council's decision. I have to abide by their rules."
Kaye shook her head in disbelief, "But, you said you are also a part of the council. So, why would they have to say over you?"
Talia gave Kaye a small smile, 'She honestly doesn't remember.' Talia studied Kaye before she continued, "The council has been in existence longer than you, or I have been around. I know you don't remember anything from your past because of the memory blocker. When I was engraving the angelic runes upon you, I kept the memory blocker in place. But, to defeat Damiana, we might need to remove it. Only time will tell. Will you, Kaye be able to deal with the possibility when the time comes?"
Kaye glanced around at everyone. She wasn't sure what to think at the moment.
Talia could see Kaye was wrestling with her decision, "It's alright, you don't need to give me an answer right now. Damiana will need time to gather her strength since he can't make any moves on her own in this world. But it doesn't mean her influence can't affect others. Damiana will be able to bring others into her fold."
"How will she be able to pull it off," Rowen asked, "How will we know if they're under Damiana's influence? If whoever we run up against is under the demon queen's spell, then how do we break them of it?"
Talia raised a brow at him, "You bring up excellent questions. In order of how she'll be able to pull it off. Damiana will seek out those who want power, those who have been scorned in life looking for revenge of some kind. Kaye and I will be able to sense Damiana's evil since she stated earlier we are adversaries. The demon queen can feel our powers as effortlessly. But for now, there is not much which we can do."
The story was brought to an end when Kento rose to his feet and stretched. "Ok, Sian, enough on your break, back to work cleaning the dojo."
Sian blinked in disbelief, "No way! You can't leave the story with a major cliffhanger! I know there's way more to the story besides what you told me."
Kento smirked at his son, "You're right. There is much more to the story. But the rest will have to wait until another time."
"I have so many questions! Did you defeat the demon queen Damiana? What happened with Cye when he was under her influence? What happened with the rest of the guys? With mom? How were you able to defeat her? Come on, pop!" Sian encouraged as he was not going to give up on this.
"Sian, I'm not going to tell you again," Kento answered him in a stern tone.
The young Rei Faun studied his father. He could see there was no way he was going to budge on his decision. He sighed, "Fine, but when will you tell me the rest of the story?"
"Soon, I give you my word. I'll tell you the rest of the story. But for right now, you'll have to process what I told you. It's a lot to take in, and when I tell you the rest later, you'll need to prepare yourself. Now, get going. I'll meet you at the dojo and help." Kento replied as he nodded.
Sian studied his father and then looked towards his mother and the others. He could see having the story come up again. It was hard for them to relive what they endured, especially for his mother. "Alright, I'll see you there, pop!" He waved at them and then headed off to the dojo.
Kaye rose to her feet and walked over to Kento, and stood by him. She watched their son as he entered the dojo and started again on working off the bet. "I know it was hard for you to tell him, Kento."
The orange Ronin sighed as he secured his wife to his side, "It was Kaye. But, he had to know someday. I hope when he's told the next part of the story, he'll be able to handle it too."
"I'm sure he will, Kento. Sian's a Rei Faun, after all, and Rei Faun's can handle anything." Kaye answered as she looked up towards him with a small smile.
Kento smiled back at her, and then leaned in for a kiss. He pulled back and gave a wink as he let go of his wife and headed towards the dojo.
Kaye watched Kento join their son. She turned around and walked to her seat. Kaye sat as she looked up at the sky.
"Sis?"
Kaye looked over at Cye, "I'm fine, Cye."
"Let me guess. It was hearing Kento telling Sian the story. It brought back those memories again." Cye suggested.
Kaye nodded, "Yes, but Kento was right. Sian did need to hear it. Though, I don't know if he's ready to find out about the rest."
Sage leaned back in his seat, "Sian can't be kept in the dark forever. He has to know. It's like you said, Sian's a Rei Faun, and Rei Faun's can handle anything."
Kaye raised a brow at him, "Sage, please, don't throw my words back at me."
He raised his hands, "Gomen, it wasn't my intention to do so."
"I guess hearing it put me on edge a bit. But I'm fine, now." Kaye answered as she looked at her brother. "What about you, though? Will you be ready to relive the second part of the story?"
"I'll have to, and so will the rest of us. It won't be long before Sian finds out about his powers and armor too. He needs to know what type of world he'll be training for when it comes to his time to fight. It won't do any good to keep him in the dark much longer." Cye replied.
Kaye turned her attention towards the dojo and smiled a little when she saw her husband and son horsing around. "I know, you're right. I wanted Sian to grow up in a world where he wouldn't have to go through what we did."
"Don't worry, Kaye, when the time comes. Sian will be ready. Plus, he won't be facing the world alone. We'll be right there by his side too." Ryo replied as he glanced around and saw Rowen, Sage, and Cye agreeing with what he said.
"Now then, can we get past this gloom and doom talk? I thought we were here to have a party?" Rowen asked as he changed the subject.
Kaye laughed as she looked over at him, "You're right. It is supposed to be a party."
Rowen smirked as he crossed his arms, "Of course, I'm right. I'm always right."
Sage raised a brow at him, "Always? Wait. What about the time you..."
Rowen caught himself from rocking backward out of his chair, "Sage, you said you would never bring it up!"
Ryo glanced around with slight confusion, "Either of you knows what's Sage meant?" He saw Cye and Kaye shake their heads. He was going to ask the other two, but he couldn't ask because Rowen chased Sage away from them. Furthermore, he shrugged and leaned back in his chair, and went back to enjoying the party.
