God damn have fire fighters always been this hot.
Amelia had found herself standing on the walk away that overlooked the lobby and to say that Amelia was trying not to drool would be an understatement.
There has been an accident. For the last week or so the fire stations from all over the state have been battling a huge fire downtown, the fire had been so big that it had caused them to pull firefighter from wherever they could.
Which had resulted in Doctor Bailey being even more ferocious than she normally would be, that meant that half the other hospital had been hiding from her and the only ones that had been stupid enough to annoy said doctor even more was the interns.
Or any of the senior doctors that that had the misfortune to disagree on the treatment of any patients they were treating with Bailey.
But then to think about it, most people had also been avoiding the Female Deluca. The doctor had been even more Italian than normal with said doctor raising her voice and being even more passionate than normal which some had assumed was aggression on her part.
But those that knew her saw what it really was. Worry, not that the fellow doctor liked to let anyone know that she was worried. But she was.
As such they hospital had been a frosty place all week. But today, today was different was after a week they finally managed to put the fire out with minimum casualties.
Which was now why the lobby was full of fit fit fire fighter, waiting for news on one of their own which was currently being treated, god there must be about fifty firer fighters waiting for news down there.
But the injured fire fighter couldn't be Baileys or Carina. As she could actually talk to both of the women today.
Remembering now that she came to see if she could use some of the fire fighters muscles. Amelia moved to head down the stairs.
DAMN that is one fit group of people. Maybe they could help her is that a female captain?
Taking the last few steps of the stairs and yep The blonde was defiently the boss if the badges was anything to go by, also how the other people were listening to what she was saying.
She might be small but God damn was she still powerful and by god was it sexy how she was bossy them about.
Yes she is the right person to approach.
Walking towards the group of people she could hear the raised voices of her and the others.
"HEY, STOP IT DOESN'T MATTER RIGHT NOW OK. AS EITHER WAY ROBERTS IS INJURED AND ARGUING ABOUT IT WON'T CHANGE A THING. IT COULD HAVE BEEN ANYONE OF US. THIS JOB IS RISKY AND WE RISK OUR LIVES EVERYDAY ON THIS JOB. AS SOON AS HE'S BETTER YOU CAN GO HOME AND FALLOUT BUT NOT RIGHT HERE AND NOW. OK?" Seeing all the fire fighters nod at she, said captain turned around clocking the doctor that was standing right there watching her.
"Hello Doctor is there news on Roberts?" she's definitely the boss of this group.
"He's still in surgery, he's stable but it's going to be awhile before he's out of surgery. I was wondering if I could ask you and your fire fighter for a favor?" Amelia stated even if she was struggling not to be turned on by the women in front of her but how could she not be she was only human after all. In fact, why are all of these woman's officers so hot, is that a requirement to server under this woman to be insanely fit.
Come on Amelia focus it'd not like you don't have a fit man waiting for you at home, but Carina is right about one thing; the uniform really does do wonders, more than scrubs at least.
"It depends on what the favor is Doctor..?" she said it would probably be good to do something right now anyway, instead of her team trying to kill one another.
"Sorry Doctor Shepherd" she said as she put out her hand only realizing now she totally skipped the introductions.
"Captain Bishop" Maya fished taking the hand offered to her.
"So how can we help you their Doctor?"
"You see there been a mess up with the porters and long story short there some heavy things that need lifting and a room we can't get into" Amelia said hopefully, a new machine had just been left in the doorway entrance, besides then doing something to the door so now they can't open it, if they could get into the room. So the fire department was quiet useful right now, it saved her from a lengthy visit from mantance.
"Ah can't have the hospital not running now can we? MILLER, HUGHES AND TRAVIS WITH ME. The rest of you try not to kill one another while I'm gone. Herrera keep them in line" turning back to look at the doctor already knowing the other were standing behind her waiting to hear what they were doing. Why did the doctor suddenly look redder than before?
"Show us where we're going then Shepherd" looking the doctor straight in the eye still not understanding why the doctor was still getting redder, it wasn't that warm in here was it?
"Are you alright there Doc you look a bit red?" that seemed to do the trick for the doctor an snapped her back to reality.
"Right yes, this way. Thank you so much" they really did need to get into this room, Amelia is going to have someone's head on a stick for this one.
Quickly Amelia lead them to the room that she wanted to use earlier and was about to call maintenance when she saw the fire fighters and knowing how slow maintenance is most of the time she went with the option closest to her.
Getting to the scan room how was even more stuff now here than there was earlier?
"So I need into the CT room but some idiot has left the new MRI machine in the way and also the door wouldn't open earlier"
"Right Hughes go find something to move the new machine with, charm them if needs be"
"Eye, eye Captain" Hughes quickly said before going back the way they just came. How did she know where to go?
"Travis and Miller start moving these box to those two storage rooms and that conference room" Amelia was amazed all she had worked out was it needed moving.
Yet in ten second this captain had it sorted Amelia could see how this woman was Captain so young.
"Got it cap" coming running back with a mover; the firefighters were on it acting faster then she thought possible to move something that heavy. "Where do you want this Doc?"
"Five doors down the hall that way"
"You got it Doc" came the voices of Hughes and Travis as they quickly got it to where it was meant to be to begin with.
"Miller get that door open" turning now to look at the doctor.
"So is there a reason that your hospital just broken about every fire rule going, because this is going to be an interesting call to Dr Bailey?"
"New shipment and new maintenance team always means cock ups like this one. And rather you make that call than we she's been in a mood all week" stated Amelia she wouldn't be surprised if some people hid from Bailey After this Captain had words with her.
"Yeah I heard about that from Warren and Doctor Bailey and I know each other so it should be fine" looking over when she heard a bang. "and the door is open"
"Thank you for that, I should buy you a drink sometimes as a thank you"
"I'm flattered and all but I have a girlfriend" Trying to let the doctor down gentle as she never knew when you might need a doctor, especially in her line of work.
"No god" quickly let out.
"God no?" so she wasn't just being hit on by one of her girlfriends friends.
"I mean your hot and all but I have a boyfriend, sort of. Not the point I just mean to say thank you with the drink and your girlfriend is a very lucky woman by the way" Amelia finished.
"And I should go now this is awkward. But I'm buying you that drink next time I see you in Joe's. OK?" Amelia said as she moved away from the fire fighter, to head down to the canteen, could this get anymore awkward.
Amelia quickly grabbed her food before heading over to Carina who was sitting alone, she might hind it funny after the week she's had.
"Hey, you want some company?"
"Ah Si, do join me" Carina said quickly before her mind could go back to thinking that it could have been Maya in surgery, and she never did well with those type of thoughts.
"Soo have you seen all of the fit fire fighters hanging around, they just came in handy actually but I also might have accidentally asked one out" sometimes Amalia talked so fast that Carina needed a second to catch up and this was one of those times.
"AMELIA YOU HAVE A BOYFRINED, how does now accidentally ask someone out?" why was Carina surprised this sounded like something very Amelia
"she got her fire fighters to move the machine blocking the scan room and got the door open which no one else had managed. So I said I should buy her a drink some time and she thought I was asking her out"
"She?" Carina could already see where this was going.
"Captain Bishop I think her name was yes, yes it was. And don't be surprised Carina I've been with woman before and I mean she was hot especially when she was bossing the other fire fighters around. I think me and Link might need to try dress up at some point" she needs to get her head out of the gutter for god sake she's in a hospital with sick people.
What the hell was Carina meant to say her friend that had just admitted to her to accidentally asking out her girlfriend.
"I do not know what to say to any of this" because right now she really didn't.
"What Carina you're normally the last one to judge anyone for anything in this hospital. Actually, you might be the least gossipy person I know in this hospital. So what's that judgement for, it not like you care what Link and I get up to?" she had never seen this side to Carina before so what the hell was wrong with her.
"NO, No you got me wrong. You are correct that I do not care what you and Link get up to that is your business"
"What is it then about the fire fighters?" seeing the other doctor nod.
what was it that she had done wrong. Amelia quickly had a think through everything.
When one thought came to her mind. Please god don't be true.
"Carina, please don't tell me?" did she really just admit to what she thinks she just did.
"OK, Then I won't" now not understanding why Amelia wanted her to be quiet.
"No, it's an idiom. It means I caught up, as in please tell me I didn't just admit to you that I just asked out your girlfriend by accident" Amelia finished and waited for the Italians response knowing that the other woman could get very jealous at times, and not wanting to be on that side of her friend.
But instead of the jealousy that she had expected from the Italian, Carina was laughing right in the middle of the Canteen; Doctor Deluca was full belly laughing at Amelia's expense.
"So, what are we laughing about?" came the voice of one Teddy Altman. This was about to get funnier.
Amelia was wrong this day had definitely got more awkward.
