"Do we have to go?"
"Will you stop whining we are going, it has been arranged for awhile now, so put on your shoes and get ready to leave" shouted back carina from the bedroom, they had been having this same argument for the last hour and she was sick of it.
"But your brother hates me" exclaimed maya again still not understanding why she had to go and met Andrew on her day off when she could be just spending it with Carina in bed on one of their very rare joint day off.
"My brother does not hate you; he does not know you. We have been together for months and you still have not properly met. Which might be why he does not care for you, which is why we are going and that is it." Called back Carina as she just finished getting ready herself.
"And you do not have your shoes on yet, please tell me you are ready to go besides that". She really should not have to nag her girlfriend about meeting her brother as much as she is having to.
"Yes, im ready to go bar the shoes" finally giving in and conceding that they were going and that was it, might as well reside herself to it now. Getting up now to grab her trainer to start to get this show on the road.
"You are acting like im taking you to the firing squad, it is just my brother"
"Yeah, your brother which I managed to randomly met on my random walk around in which we both managed to insult the other, this isn't going to be fun babe". Maya said back while pulling on her trainers.
Coming out of the bedroom to see that her girlfriend was now ready to go she grabbed her coat "well you were both in the wrong, so you can both get over yourselves and get along for me. Besides Meredith will be there and she wants to meet you".
Seeing that she was now ready she grabbed her car keys being the main driver out the two of them. Making their way to the car she, Carina kept an eye of maya; the entire morning she had been acting like a petulant teenager or maybe it was a toddler?
Either way she had grown tired within minutes of waking up this morning, she had never known for her girlfriend to act like this before she normally was a well put together woman that always tried not to let her mood show. But today it was almost like she had done a three sixty on herself and she wanted her normal girlfriend back the one that would normally just shrug off what had already happened between Andre and herself.
Alright I've had enough of this Carina thought as she got into the car and looked at Maya just slumped in the passenger side of the car. "Seriously what the hell is wrong with you? And don't just say you don't want to go; it is more than that. So, tell me what is it? Because this is not attractive".
"Its nothing"
"No; what is it and we are not moving until you tell me what it is" Carina exclaimed as an eyebrow vanished into her hair.
Sighing and finally sitting up in her seat to properly look at her girlfriend giving her that exasperated look. "Fine, he's your brother" she said like that would answer all of Carina's question.
"Yes, I think that by this point we have gathered that he is my brother" carina was just getting more and more exasperated now. Why couldn't she just answer the question?
"No; I mean that he's your brother. He's easily the most important person in your life, I know that you're not that close with the rest of your family. Which means that he's the one that gives the seal of approval on our relationship, and I feel like I've messed it up already. Which is the last thing in which I want to do. As you are the most important person in my life, so I really wanted to get along with him" guess that's out of the bag, Maya quickly looked away after saying all of that, as she was still trying to get used to being vulnerable around or for her girlfriend.
"Bambina look at me please" Carina asked as she saw that Maya was just staring straight forward, clearly not wanting to look at her. "Come on eyes on me"
Turning her head to look back at her girlfriend the first thing that she saw was the sincerity in her eyes while she looked at her, which just made her feel even worse than she already did.
"Why didn't you tell me Bambina? Yes, you are right I love my brother. But you are wrong also he is not my most important person anymore. That would be you bambina you have become the person in this world that I do not want live without. It would be nice for you to get along with my brother, but you have not messed this up. So, no matter you are the one I love. Now buckle up before we are late. Oh and I do not need his approval as you put it". Carina finished as she turned herself forward now that she had reassured the other woman.
Starting the drive to Mer's she left maya to her thoughts knowing that was how the other woman always process information especially when it all just gets chucked at her. This meant that the entire drive was quiet as neither woman wanted or needed to talk.
Pulling up "I'm sorry" was the first thing that maya had said since the car had started, shocking carina by her choice of opening, as she said it as she parked up the car.
"You have nothing to apologise for; I wish you told me sooner how you were feeling" when was maya going to start to feel relaxed enough around her to start telling her how she is feeling?
Getting out of the car she waited for maya to round the car, as she grabbed her hand pulling her closer; trying to give the other woman as much reassurance as she could before they saw her brother.
Taking the few steps to the door, Carina brought her hand up to knock but before it could touch the surface it was janked open from the other side.
"So, you finally bring round the fire fighter that has the whole hospital drooling over her, are you sure that you want Amelia around her? " came the voice of one Meredith Grey all said with a smirk; why was her brother dating her again?
Chuckling Meredith always did know how to jab, looking over to her girlfriend seeing that she almost looked proud of herself for what Mer had just said.
"Its is good to see you too, as you know this is Maya" was Carina reply.
"it is good to finally meet you Maya, Come in before one of the kids decided to make a break for it" Meredith said as she moved aside for the two women to enter the house and hang their coats up.
"Right, that brother of yours has been in a right mood all morning. Does it have something to do with you two coming rounds?" had she not heard about what happened? Maybe not but that whole hospital was a rumour mill so it would be shocking if Mer didn't know.
"Yes, most likely I had the same problem all morning with this one" Carina said as she pointed at the woman that was stood next to her still holding her hand, seeing that she was the main focus of the conversation her ears started to turn red.
Well this is going to be fun then with both Maya and Andrea in a mood. Where was Andrea?
"where is my brother?"
"He's somewhere with the kids, they wanted to show him something, so they dragged him off somewhere. So, drinks?" Meredith said as she moved towards the kitchen having already sorted lunch it was just waiting for them now.
"Yes Please, water will be fine thank you" the Italian said having learnt long ago not to let other people make coffee for her as it was never how she liked it.
"Same thank you" Maya said having finally said something else.
"So Maya tell me; do you make it a habit of making hospital staff fall for you or is it just a natural talent and if so should I be worried that im about to swoon at you?" Meredith said after she had given the two woman their drinks and sitting down herself.
Maybe she shouldn't have said it the second that Maya had taken a drink, as Maya currently half bent over the table couching out the water, she just drank with Carina patting her back.
How had she only just met this woman yet she was totally OK with ragging on her.
"Erm as far as I know they were just attracted to me so I'm not sure if you should be worried or not" came the reply of the other woman as she wanted to give as good as she got.
"Yeah guys" came the lack lustre voice of one Andrea Deluca. Maybe she should think about calling him Andrew like he wanted but Carina always calls in Andrea so that's what she is used to at this point.
"Hello Andrea, your girlfriend is trying to kill mine"
"WHAT?" He exclaimed as he looked at the women that was currently sitting in the room. How can they already be murderous with one another? He thought as he just stared at them all.
"Relax Andrew, I just made her chock on her water that is all" Mer said as she just smirk at him.
"But now that your here we can serve" Meredith said as she stood up to get the food from the kitchen.
Sitting down opposite Maya, Andrew just sat quietly not saying anything to the two other people in the room.
So there was just silence as Meredith put all the food down and the four adults started eating in relative silence.
A silence that the two other women were not going to stand for.
"OK you can cut it out now Andrew Deluca. OK yes you acted like a dush but that doesn't mean you get to keep acting like one" Mer said while she looked at Andrew.
Turning to look at Maya she continued "And next time don't walk around the hospital in your fire gear unless you have too" Mer finished looked at them with the same smirk as Carina right now.
"So I guess that mean your not swooning over me then" came the reply from Maya breaking tension in the room, with everyone suddenly laughing.
"I'm not sure yet. But I'm quite happy with my Deluca" making Andrew smirk and turn abit red.
"You need to stop making people fall for you. Or I might have to fight them for you" came the reply of the female Italian.
"That would be fun to watch" Andrew said shocking them as he had not been saying anything the entire meal.
"Why?" Carina asked confused.
Chuckling he replied "Since that day in which the fire fighter tried to take over the hospital, it feels like half of the hospital is talking about the hot female fire captain" he had found it both funny and annoying how much he had heard about Maya this week.
"I would fight the hospital for Maya" was Carinas only reply as she finished her food.
Leaning into her girlfriend; giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Don't worry, you never have too"
"You two are sickening you know that right" came the reply of Meredith, as this was the first time that's she had seen the couple interacting with one another and actually finally quite sweet but she wasn't about to tell them that.
"Thank you, I try" was the only reply from Carina as Maya just sat there staring lovingly at Carina probably not even hearing the teasing. Not that it looked like the other woman gave a damn.
"Come on let's move to the living room where you two can be just as sicking" Meredith said as she stood as Andrew started to clear the table. As the three women made there way towards the couch.
"Wine?" not waiting for the reply before pulling out four glasses and a bottle
"Si" "Go on then" came the reply from the two women.
"I knew I was going to like you Maya" mer said as she opened the wine and poured the four glasses out and handed them to the two women.
"So which shall we start on first embarrassing Andrew or embarrassing Maya?" Carina asked as she took a drink of her wine, while she heard the joint sighs of her girlfriend and brother.
"And then, he decides that he has to stick his head through the Erm Erm fence. But its too small so he got his head through but could not get it back. As his ears got stuck, we had to call the fire fighters to get him out" Carina finished as all three women sat there laughing at Andrews expense.
They had been told story after story by either Carina or Meredith while Maya mostly listened and asked questions.
But for Andrews part he had taken it well being used to his sister by now so he knew what was coming from the moment they started to gossip.
"HEY, you dared. Me to put my head through the fence" Andrew exclaimed after that last story.
"But you did not have to do it" Carina answered back knowing that it always annoyed her brother, having had this conversation many a times before.
"But you knew I would which is why you dared me" he wined back at her.
"So basically from all of the stories we've been told: if Carina told you or dared you to do something it wouldn't matter what it was you would do it" Was the reply of Maya after sitting and listening to the stories.
"I mean he's still the same now. If I or one of the kids ask him to do something he literally jumps at the chance to do it" Meredith replied to Maya while smirking at her boyfriend.
"HEY. I see how this is now my Girlfriend and my sisters girlfriend ganging up on me. Is this how it's going to be from now on?" He exclaimed as he looked at the other people in the room.
"Yes, this is how it's going to be" came the answer from Carina and Andrew was OK with that because his sister was finally happy and he would put up with all the teasing for her.
