"So we had this case today that was so sad. The fetus has a problem with the ventricle of the heart and unless we operate the momma will miscarry" said Carina as she washed the pots after finishing dinner.

"Is there nothing that you can do?"

"Yes and no" was the reply from Carina as she put the pots down to turn around to look at her girlfriend as to be looking at her when they talked. Seeing that she had her attention she continued.

"I can't do anything for the baby, I need a neonatal surgeon" finished Carina as she stared into the eyes of her girlfriend.

Seeing where this was going "So, your calling the one neonatal surgeon that you know then? When is she getting here?" asked Maya not needing to ask why her girlfriend was telling her about this.

"As soon as I saw the case, I contacted her, so she will be here tomorrow, I thought you would like to met her"

"You've told her about me then?" was Maya only reply to that trying to work out if she did in fact wanted to meet the other woman.

"Oh course, we keep in touch for work. It comes up every so often, she is also in a relationship so it would be nice if you met her" was the reply from the Italian.

"You're not jealous, are you? You have nothing to worry about bambina"

Sighing "I know, and I would like to meet her" even if she was unsure about it. She had heard a lot about the other woman from the DeLuca's in her life so it would be good to put a face to the name.

"That is good. I will tell her; we should have lunch. She is also bringing Callie which is her girlfriend" Carina finished as she turned back around to finish the pots.

"What time do you want me? I'm not on shift till later in the day" she asked not sure how she felt about meting the ex but knowing that she couldn't say anything she works with her ex all the time.

"One should be good we go into Surgery at two. And it would be good to see you first."

"That's fine. Do you need me to bring anything?" she asked as she yet again stared at her girlfriend.

"No thanks bambina I just need you" was the only reply from the Italian as she finished the pots. Deciding that everything else could wait for now; she dragged the other woman off to their room. Forgetting all about exes for now.

Knocking

Knowing that she could just walk into her girlfriends office by now; but never liking to with not knowing if she was consulting or not in there.

"Come in" came from a voice that was clearly not her girlfriend, a voice in which she didn't recognize but was pretty sure was the other woman they were talking about yesterday.

Opening the door she saw the woman that she assumed was Arizona.

And at that moment only one thought ran threw her mind: My girlfriend has a type.

"Bambina, is it one clock already?" She said as she made her way round her desk to greet the woman that had just entered the office. As always, she wanted to be next to her when they were in the same room, she never missed the chance to be next to Maya.

Looking away from the other blonde in the room she put her eyes upon her girlfriend who still looked as gorgeous as ever but she looked like she was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. Which she guessed for one family she probably wasn't far off the mark.

Wrapping her arms around her waist like that would sort all of the world problems out for the other woman, she just held her as that was all she could do at this minute in time.

"Tough case?"

"Si, it is worse than thought. It could go bad bambina" she said as she buried herself even further into the other woman.

"We will do what we can Carina. No matter what we will have done what we can for the patients" came the voice from the other person in the room. Break the two women out of their hug and interrupting their moment.

"Sorry, but hey I'm Arizona Robbins and you must be Maya. If she's not taking about this case; It's Maya this and Maya that. So, it's good to put a face to the name" how fast could this woman talk? she thought as she unfolded herself from her girlfriend.

Taking Carina's hand, she pulled her to her opposite couch that Arizona was on trying to think why she seemed familiar to her, shaking her head she's a doctor she probably seen her around the hospital in the past.

Sitting down she knew that Carina was stressed as she was basically sitting on her knee something that the other woman normally didn't do unless she wanted comfort.

"So, you two have been together awhile then?" Arizona asked wanting to break the ice and never minding a bit of gossip to calm the nerves before a surgery, always liking a bit of a distraction.

"A few months but it feels right" was the reply from Maya shocking Carina as she had expected to do most of the talking.

"Carina tells me your girlfriend is joining us, how long have you two been together?"

"That's a complicated answered" stated Arizona with a pensive look upon her face like she was trying to work something out.

Just as Maya was about to ask why was complicated, she was interrupted by: The door to the office went flying open. "Sorry were late Momma" came the voice of one preteen. As, she ran into the office bowling into Arizona in the process.

Shocking the two women but not Arizona as she just braised for the impact she received.

"Sofia, please tell me you knocked first. Momma could have been doing something important" came the voice of the woman now standing in the doorway to the office.

"No mama" came the reply of the probably twelve-year-old? Which she could see was going to be hitting the teenage strive soon, or at least the attitude.

"Hey just make sure you do next time" was the women's only reply as she made her own way into the office.

Stopping in front of Arizona bending down to press her lips against her in a chastity kiss before sitting next to her and their daughter while putting the food she had gotten on the table that was between them.

"Sorry, I'm Callie and that means that you must be Maya" having heard and seen a picture of Carina.

Callie sat there trying not to laugh as it was obvious that both women had a type not, they would probably ever admit it.

"Yes, that would be me. I was just asking Arizona how long it is that you two have been together?"

Callie looked at Arizona before saying "It's complicated"

"Not really. They were together had me then they weren't together. Mamma got with Penny, went to New York. But then Momma came to New York two and got rid of Penny" came the reply from the fifth person in the room that everyone seemed to have forgotten about already.

"I didn't get rid of Penny" Arizona stated as she handed out the lunches to the other people knowing that they had to eat, in the short time they had.

"Well, you're here and Penny's not" was the only reply from Sofia before she stuck food in her mouth.

Sighing thinking whether to correct her daughter or not. She deciding not to bother as she was right. She was here and Penny wasn't.

So, she just turned and smiled at Callie over Sofia's head, she was just happy that she had gotten her family back.

"So, you two worked it out in the end?" Carina asked breaking the other women's moment with one another.

"Yeah, we realized that we both wanted the same thing so we went from there" Was Callie's reply.

"There was soooo much kissing" was Sofia's response while pulling a discussed face at thinking about them kissing.

Causing all of the women in the room to laugh.

"So, you don't agree with your mother's kissing then Sofia?" Maya asked.

"I want them together the kissing is just gross" she stated still pulling a grossed-out face.

"Are you a doctor as well?" realizing that she didn't know this woman at all. Not like Carina she had met her when her Momma dated her. It wasn't another ex, was it?

Chucking Maya answered "Me, no. I'll leave that to these three. No, I'm a fire captain" Maya answered as she put what was left of her lunch on the table being finished for now, after years of being a fire fighter she was an incredibly fast eater these days. Something that Carina was trying to change when they were at home.

"THAT'S SO MUCH COOLER"

Causing all three women to let out disgruntled heys.

"Do you not think being a doctor is cool, as you put it?" Asked Arizona while leaning into her daughter, still not being over being away from her daughter for that year.

"It is cool especially you momma"

"Hey" was the reply form the other mother but Sofia just ignored her and continued.

"But" she said as she looked at Maya trying to remember her name.

"Maya"

"Maya literally runs into fire so that you can treat your patience. That's cool" Sofia finished as she looked at her two mothers.

"Your right Sofia it is pretty cool" was the Italians reply as she leant in and kissed her girlfriend always being amazed what she did for a living, but it still also scared her.

"We also pull people from cars and I don't really run into fires anymore I get my fire fighters to do it these days" Maya said as she watched the amazement in the young girls eyes.

"That's even cooler, I have so many question" she exclaimed as she started to fire off question after question at Maya and for her part she kept up as best as she possibly could.

"It looks like we have lost our daughter to your girlfriend" Callie said while Sofia launched the questions at Maya.

"Maya does not mind. She always likes sharing her experiences with children especially young girls" Carina said while like the other two other women smiled at the pair interacting with one another.

"So, you never said how the two of you met?" asked Arizona when a quiet fell with the three women who were all using the time to finish off their lunch.

"We met at Joe's" this caused Arizona to suddenly start laughing. Making everyone pay attention to her causing Sofia's latest question died on the tip of her tongue.

"What's funny?" asked Maya having not been paying attention to any of the other conversations going on around her.

"IT'S JUST JOE'S" She replied like that explained the laughing fit.

Seeing that the other blonde look confused she calmed down.

"We all met at Joe's" leaving it to the other woman in the room to put it all together.

With that the three other women looked around the room and realized it was true. Joe's was the place that changed all of their lives for the better, thinking about it. It also hit Maya that she had met Arizona in Joe's before.

"We should send Joe a thank you" stated Carina as she pulled Maya into her side.

"We definitely should" came the reply from the other side of the room. While looking over she saw Sofia rolling her eyes at the adults for what must have been the fifth time since she entered the office.

"Why are adults always gross" she wined as she pulled out her phone and played on that instead deciding that she had had enough of them being mushy with one another.

"I think she has had enough of us" Carina sighed.

"Yeah, she's like that these days. teen years are fast approaching and I'm terrified. Like teenage boy what are you meant to do with teenage boys or girls" said Arizona as she slumped backwards into the couch not looking forward to her not so little girl growing up even more.

"Yeah, that's her worse fear apparently teenage boys" was Callie's replied as she just watched her slumped on the couch.

"Well, I never went there myself so I don't know what their like or what they might be like these days"

"You do know that your being irrational right?" asked Callie having had this argument before with her.

"Yeah, I know. I'm just not looking forward to teen angst" sitting back up now to looked at the women that were now just watching them with smirks on their faces.

"You two act married" Maya said after watching them interact.

"I guess in someway we still see each other like that and not in other ways. Like we said its complicated" Callie said not wanting to hear the rant that she had heard Arizona go off on before when people brought it up.

Nodding "That makes sense"

"Do you ever think that you might get married again?" Maya asked being intrigued by the other couple.

"Hey, we just met, and your girlfriend is sitting right there?" Callie replied Checkley making the other women laugh.

"We don't know it come up but it still too early yet, we having talked about it, its just time will tell" Arizona actually answered the question.

Seeing Callie nod "Well I'm sure you will know if the time comes again" was carina's response.

Before looking at the time, seeing that they needed to get moving as they would be prepping the patient now.

"We should go Arizona. Otherwise, the mamma will be kept waiting" she said as she stood up from the couch moving around the office to grab what she will need.

"Your right" she said as she stood up to sort herself out like the Italian. Before turning back to her family.

"Right Sof be good for your Mamma, and I will see you when this surgery is over" she stated as she leant down kissing the both of them before moving to pick something up from the desk.

"I will see you tomorrow bambina" Carina said as like the other woman she leant down to press a quick kiss to the other woman's lips before quickly turning around and leave the office.

And with that they were both gone from the office leaving the three others just sitting there.

Standing up she picked up their rubbish from lunch to dispose of it.

"You won't be seeing each other till tomorrow?" she asked having thought that they lived together.

"I'm on shift for 24 hours which starts in about fours hours" she answered already not looking forward to a night spent in the office with paperwork instead of her girlfriend.

"HEY, can I ask you a question?" asked Maya as she threw away the rubbish, turning back around to look at the woman that she had only just met.

"Go for it?" knowing where the other woman most likely would be going but seeing that their girlfriends worked together and still talked occasionally it would hurt to get along with the other woman some more.

"How did you do it? How did you two manage to find your way back to one another?" while leaning on her girlfriends' desk to just look at the other woman.

"I think in the end we both realized that our lives were better when we were together than apart and after that we just talked and didn't stop talking until, we got to a good place. Don't get me wrong it wasn't easy but its worth it. Its worth it everyday to have my favourite girls in my life" she finished while just smiling at Sofia being happy that she once again took the chance on Arizona again.

Looking at her watched Maya realized that she had to be off. "Right well I have to go. I was great to met you two. We could do this again the next times the Mrs is in town?" she asked as she made her own way to the office door.

"Sounds like a plan, say bye Sofia" Callie said having lost the girl to the land of tech.

"Bye Maya" she called while not taking her eyes off of the screen.

Chucking while opening the door "Bye Sofia. Cya Callie"
