Chapter 7
On the Ark
Harper was sitting in the chair in the prison visitor's room when Erin walked in.
"Hey Erin."
"Hey Harper, so what's going on with you?"
"Oh, nothing much," said Harper as the guard walked by. "My friend said the sun is shining down on Earth today." Erin only just managed to stifle a gasp of glee she felt. Sol was an old word for sun, she must be talking about her sister!
"Really, does she say anything else?"
"Yeah, she kept talking about a phenomenon called the Aurora Borealis. Apparently you can see it from the ground as well." Aurora Blake!
"Your friend is full of information," said Erin.
"Uh-huh. Oh, they're showing the Harry Potter film - the first one - tomorrow. I've seen it and I wish I belonged to Griffindor." Jake Griffin! She only needed to hear about one more person to know they were all down and safe.
"God, my friend was singing this song yesterday and… you know when you can only remember one line? She kept repeating it over and over."
"What was it?"
"'Blackbird singing in the dead of night'. She can't remember the rest of the lyrics. I kept telling her to go and look them up before I gagged her!" Erin broke out laughing.
"Blackbird? Really?"
"Yup." The guard moved off to another section.
"You talked to each of them?"
"Me and Monty were both there and we heard from all of them." Erin breathed a sigh of relief. Now she could confirm that Octavia's mother and Clarke's father were indeed alive and well. It would be a big relief for both of them. The guard walked past them once more.
"Oh and apparently that Aurora thing was known as Rory down there. It's a kind of nickname." Erin was startled, but pleased to know they were alright. Harper went on to tell her the messages from the others on the ground once the guard had moved on. Erin was pleased and eager to see Sol again and return that hug!

Back in her cell, she waited until the guard had left before she flung herself at Octavia and hugged her. She whispered into Octavia's ear.
"Raven built the radio and has been talking to Monty and Harper. All four of the ones on the ground talked to them. You mom's alive and well, Octavia!" Octavia pulled back and looked at Erin with a stunned expression.
"Really?" she asked, fearfully in case it wasn't true.
"Yes. I think that next time they make contact, Bellamy will be able to speak with your mother. Oh and apparently down there, she prefers to be called Rory." Erin grinned.
"Rory? What the hell? Her name's Aurora!"
"I know but apparently she told everyone to call her Rory."
"Well at least she's okay."
"Yeah, she also asked that we pass on a message to you and Bellamy."
"What message?"
"This is a quote. 'Tell them I love them and can't wait until they're down here and I can give them a big hug.'" Octavia grinned.
"That's what my mom said all the time - that she wanted to give us a big hug." Octavia laughed. "She's alive and safe. I don't believe it." Erin looked at her.
"You going to be okay?"
"Yeah, now I know mom is alive, I'll be fine."
"Good. I've got to find a way of letting Clarke know as well. Abby can't see her for another three weeks, so it's up to us to deliver messages."
"Oh God, Clarke! I forgot! While you were visiting with Harper, I was at the end by the solitary confinement gate and a couple of guards came in and went into the solitary section. They moved Clarke. She's now in the first cell nearest the gate."
"Oh, that's brilliant! Now we don't have to shout so much."
"How are we going to tell her when the guards are roaming around during free time?"
"I dunno… sing?"
"Sing?"
"Yeah. I could sing some parts of songs that can tell her what's happening?"
"Can you?"
"Yeah, I can sing, Octavia."
"No, I mean can you find enough song bits to tell her?"
"Well I can think of a song that will tell her I'm talking about her dad. The other part, I'm going to have to think about."
"Okay, do you need my help?"
"Yeah. I think if you and I wander over to the gate and then I start to sing, you can comment on wanting to hear something different. Each time I've delivered a small part of the message, you can tell me that it's not right and ask for another song."
"And that way the guards won't know what we're really doing," said Octavia, amazed at the opportunity this afforded her to learn how to be sneaky and do things right under the guards noses!
"How will I know when to interrupt?" asked Octavia.
"I'll give a hand signal… like closing my hand into a fist," said Erin.
"That'll work."
"Yeah, now we wait until free time… in about six hours time!"
xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx
When the two were let out of their cells to mingle with the others, they slowly worked their way through the other people on their level and talked to a few of them, all the while remaining steadfast on their goal - the gate. Upon reaching the gate, Erin positioned herself so her right hand would not be seen by others, but Octavia could see it.
"I'm bored," said Octavia. "Sing me a song."
"What am I? Your slave?"
"Just sing something please? I haven't heard any singing since I've been in here."
"Alright. What do you want to hear?"
"I dunno, anything."
"Okay," replied Erin, pretending to think about which song to sing. "Yeah, got one."
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep… (Sung by Madonna)
"You call that a good song to sing? I have no clue who my dad is! Sing another."
ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo
Shaky Jake, boy, what you gonna do?
Texas rangers coming for you
Here's the price you pay for one mistake
So get off the ship, it's shaky Jake. (Sung by Humble Pie)
ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo
"What the hell? Sing something else!" Octavia said.
ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo
There's a darkness that has tried to swallow me
"I haven't seen the light for days
I've been running for so long
Fear racing through my bones
'Til you brought me to this place
Safe, I'm finally safe
I'm okay here, I'm okay here
Safe, you hold me safe
I'm okay here, I'm okay here
Completely safe. (Sung by Alisa Turner)
ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo
"Okay, okay. I get the message, you don't really know what to sing. Can't you sing something completely unrelated to that? Sing something fun!" asked Octavia, hoping Clarke had gotten the message that her dad was safe.
Erin burst into renditions of 500 miles by the Proclaimers, Don't stop believin' by Journey, I will survive by Gloria Gaynor and finished off with Play that funky music by Wild cherry. Each song was well known around the Ark and some of the other prisoners joined in, happy to have something else in their lives other than four walls and despair.
Eventually they were all put back into their cells.
In solitary Clarke just sat there, stunned at what she'd heard. The first song must have been a reference to her dad. The second was all about some guy called Shaky Jake and the third was about someone being safe, completely safe. He must be alive on the ground. When she heard a girl talk about singing something completely different and had nothing to do with the other songs, Clarke realised that that must be the end of the message. Jake was alive and safe. She listened to the other songs anyway. Any music was welcomed. 500 miles and Don't stop believing both resonated with her because she could imagine her dad on the ground. She didn't know how far the Earth was from the Ark, but 500 miles was a long way. Don't stop believing, she hoped, was a reference to not giving up hope she'd see him again. She wouldn't. She had faith in her dad. I will survive was a reference to them surviving on the ground, Clarke hoped. Clarke knew the last one was just for pure fun. She could now relax a little, now she knew her dad was alive, on the ground and safe. It was the best she could have hoped for.

Monty searched for Bellamy. He was trawling the corridors looking for him. Eventually he came across him mopping floors in a little used corridor.
"Hey," said Monty, walking past him. Monty 'accidentally' dropped some stuff and both Monty and Bellamy bent down to pick them up.
"Radio contact made, your mom is alive and safe. She can't wait until you both go down so she can give you a big hug and tell you she loves you," Monty whispered. He gathered up his things and stood up, as did Bellamy.
"Thanks for your help in picking these up."
"No problem,'' Bellamy replied. Monty kept walking and didn't look back. Bellamy kept his head down and continued to work, though with a huge smile on his face.

Harper wandered into medbay.
"Is Dr Griffin free?" she asked.
"If it's a medical problem, I can help you," said Jackson.
"No offence Dr Jackson, but it's a woman thing and I prefer Dr Griffin."
"Oh, I'll just get her for you." Harper nodded and waited.
"You have a female problem?" asked Dr Griffin.
"Yeah. Can I talk to you about it in private?"
"Yes. Come this way." Abby led her to a private examination room and closed the door and the little blind covering the small window.
"Now what's the problem?"
"No problem, Abby," Harper whispered. "Radio contact made, all four have spoken to me and Monty. They are all alive and safe. Message from Jake is: 'Tell Abby and Clarke I love them, and can't wait until they come down and I can see them'.
Abby was astonished and overjoyed to know he was alive and well.
"Are you sure?"
"Yep, talked to him myself. He's okay, Abby." Abby started crying.
"Oh, thank God! I feared that this was all an illusion."
"No, he's alive and on the ground. Erin is going to tell Clarke. I know you'd have liked to have told her yourself, but you won't be able to visit her for a few more weeks and we didn't think it was fair on Clarke to make her wait," explained Harper.
"No, no, you're right. She needs to know as soon as possible." Abby gave a small laugh. "I'm glad he's safe."
"Yeah, now we just wait until the council meeting and see what Jaha has to say about it," said Harper. "Abby, you can't lose your temper and blurt it out." Harper was serious about it. After all, if Jaha thought Abby was a threat like Jake was, he'd float her and Bellamy and the others would be put in prison. This was serious.
"I know. Even if he talks a lot of nonsense, I'll keep calm," she said. Harper nodded.
"I'd better go," she said. Abby nodded and got up.
"I'll write down that you had some concerns about your period. That'll keep anyone from wondering what you were doing here," Abby explained.
"Good. Got to go, bye Abby."
"Bye Harper," she said, leading Harper to the door.

The next day was Sunday and Abby was in the council chambers once again waiting for Jaha to turn up. Kane was in the council meeting this time instead of coming in with Jaha.
"Any ideas what's going on?" Abby asked Kane.
"No, no clue. He never told me anything about the craft that went down, nor why this meeting was called." They waited until Jaha came into the room and sat down.
"I've got the results of the inventory each of you have given me and I'm pleased at the amount of resources we still have," Jaha said. "While we cannot use anything we may need on the ground, I am willing to resume trials of those accused of a crime and underage. They will be reviewed and if they are found not guilty, they'll be released to live freely on the Ark.
"Does that include my daughter?" asked Abby.
"Unfortunately no. I cannot allow her to be set free at this moment."
"Why? She has commited no crime, Jaha. She's only in prison because she knew something you didn't want the entire Ark to know!"
"That's enough, Abby!" Jaha bellowed, scared his secret would be spilled to the entire Ark.
"Why? You've already told the council that the air is running out and killed my husband so he didn't tell anyone else. Are you going to keep this from the rest of the Ark until we go down?" she queried. Before Jaha could reply, she posed another question. "Or are you even going to tell them at all? Are you planning to only take your people to the ground and leave the rest up here to die?" Kane and the others looked to Jaha to know the answer. All of them were from Alpha station and were considered privileged, but not even they would be that callous - or murderous.
"Jake had no right to tell people. It would have caused a panic!"
"And instead of asking him to keep it quiet, you had him taken straight to the floating chamber. I never even got to know what had happened until the guards were knocking on my door and hauling my daughter to solitary!" Abby was incensed but she was trying so hard not to lose all control and blab what she actually knew.
"She was dangerous, Abby! She had to be kept quiet!"
"My daughter did not commit a crime, Jaha, you were just scared your power was slipping if others knew!" Jaha stood there, mouth opening and closing, not knowing what to say. He looked around at the other council members and saw the same horrified look on their faces.
"I couldn't take the chance!" Jaha said.
"No crime, Jaha, just your own paranoia!"
"Is this true?" asked Kane.
"I… I-" Jaha couldn't form the correct words to say, completely blindsided by it all.
"Councillors, I put forward a motion of no confidence in our Chancellor and I believe he should be relieved of his role as Chancellor. He has proved that he doesn't care about the rest of the Ark," Kane said, looking around at each of them.
"Seconded," said Abby, flatly, narrowing her eyes at Jaha.
"All in favour," said Kane. Every other hand went up.
"Motion carried," said Kane. He stood up and went over to Jaha and removed the Chancellor's pin. "You are no longer Chancellor, nor are you a member of this council. You have proven yourself as unworthy of that position."
They all agreed that Kane should be the Chancellor. He accepted. It all happened so fast that Jaha had not seen it coming. He thought they would all fall in line with his plans to save a few people and leave the rest behind.
Kane walked over to the door and called the guard inside.
"Thelonious Jaha has been removed from his position as Chancellor. He is to be arrested for treason and put in prison. Do not float him! Put him in the farthest cell in solitary confinement. No visitors except for guards giving him his meals." The guard was stunned but saw the Chancellor's pin attached to Kane's lapel.
"Yes, Chancellor," the guard said and went over to Jaha and put his hand on his shoulder. Jaha shrugged him off, but the guard just placed his hand on his shoulder again and applied pressure to make sure his grip stayed this time and then with his free hand, he grabbed one of Jaha's wrists and walked him towards the door. One of the councillors opened the door and closed it behind them.
"What now?" asked the same councillor.
"We investigate what exactly Jaha was doing," said Kane. "I was there when we sent people down and I'm sorry, Abby but Jake was one of them."
"I know," said Abby. "I've been doing some investigations of my own," she admitted.
"You did!? How?"
"Can't say right now, but I did find out who else went down," Abby said, prevaricating to keep the others out of this for the time being.
"Who?" asked one of the women.
"Jake Griffin, Aurora Blake, Raven Reyes and Solange Armstrong," Abby said.
"I know Jake, but who are the others?" asked the woman.
"Aurora Blake had a second child and was supposed to be floated. Her second child is in prison. Raven Reyes volunteered to go down and was one of Jake's mechanics. She's 18. Solange Armstrong is 17 and also volunteered. Apparently Jaha and Kane here made a deal with her. She has a sister as well who is in prison. Solange was to go down and her sister would be set free."
"And was the sister set free?" asked another man.
"Yes," said Kane, nodding his head.
"Until Solange was off the Ark, and then Jaha had her re-arrested," Abby added. Kane was as shocked as the rest of them.
"I didn't know!" he said. "I should have checked up on her," he said, almost to himself.
"You can free her again, but if you do that, you have to release Octavia Blake and my daughter. They didn't commit any crimes. Erin and Octavia were born, they are not criminals and my daughter was put in jail to keep her quiet." Kane nodded.
"Any transmission from the ground?" asked another councillor.
"Not that I know of," said Kane.
Abby kept quiet even though she wanted to say that her group had made contact with them and knew of the busted radio they were sent down with.
"Okay, the first order of business is to release those three people. I also want one of you to head up an inquiry into the arrests and convictions of any of the juveniles in prison. If Jaha could do that, then some of the guards could do that," Kane said. One of the councillors held up his hand.
"My son was floated twelve years ago. I would like to head that up. I will choose people from the Ark and not just from Alpha. I'll try to choose people who can look at the evidence and not just who arrested the kids." Kane nodded.
"Good. For everyone else here, please keep this quiet until I've announced it and why we did it." He looked around the table and they all agreed.
"We do need to pick another councillor, though," said Abby.
"True. Anyone have any ideas?" Each of them looked at each other, but no names were put forward.
"Okay, think about who would be a good candidate and we'll discuss it at the next meeting."
"When?"
"Same time next week?"
"Works for me."
"Yes."
"I'll be here." the councillors said.
"Okay, meeting adjourned. Abby, want to come with me and release those people?"
"Definately," Abby said with fervour.
xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx
They went to the prison and went straight to Clarke's cell. When the door opened, Clarke was drawing a picture on the wall. She turned around and her eyes widened in surprise at seeing her mother there.
"Mom?" she asked, not quite believing what she was seeing.
"Hey, honey," Abby said.
"What are you doing here? Not that I'm not pleased to see you, but you're not due for a visit for at least two weeks."
"There's been a change of Chancellor," Abby said, pointing to Kane.
"I'm sorry, Clarke, if I'd known what he did, I would have stopped it. The records say that you hit a guard and that's why you were put in prison. I had no reason to doubt him at the time." Kane looked contrite.
"So what now?" asked Clarke.
"You are being set free, Clarke. As your mother pointed out, you have never committed a crime. Jaha locked you up to stop you telling everyone about the air running out."
"I'm free?" Clarke whispered.
"Yes, baby, you're getting out of here. Come on, let's go home." Clarke hurried over to her mom and hugged her tight. She picked up her jacket and left the cell. The guards opened the gate and Clarke walked out into the general population. She stopped and looked around at the few people who were on the level, walking along the catwalk.
"Which one is Erin Armstrong?" Clarke called out. A girl came over to her.
"I'm Erin Armstrong," she said, looking at the other girl. Erin narrowed her eyes as she looked at her. "Clarke?" she asked.
"Yeah," said Clarke. Both girls hugged. "Thank you, Erin," Clarke whispered in her ear.
"Erin Armstrong," said Kane, formally.
"Yeah?" said Erin.
"You are now free as well."
"Why?"
"Because Jaha made a promise and he broke it as soon as your sister was off the Ark. I'm sorry I didn't follow up on your release."
"I'm truly free? I won't be hauled back here again?"
"Not unless you commit a crime," Kane said.
"Don't intend to," said Erin.
"Come along. You'll be shown to your family's quarters."
"What about Octavia Blake?" asked Erin.
"She too, will be freed. I know she's visiting with her brother so I'll go and tell her."
"Can I tell her?" asked Erin. Kane shrugged.
"Don't see why not," he said, moving to the end of the level and the way out of the prison. Both Clarke and Erin followed closely, not wanting to be locked back in again.
Hey!" yelled one of the other prisoners, "what's going on?" Kane stopped and looked over the railings to the other levels on the other side. He cleared his throat.
"Chancellor Jaha has been arrested for treason and relieved of his duties. I am now Chancellor and I've instigated an investigation into your crimes. These two and one other are being released because none of them committed a crime. Jaha put them in prison for other reasons. Each one of you will have your cases reviewed and if it is found that you were set up or falsely accused and arrested, then you will be set free." Whispers sounded all around the skybox. Kane and the others moved through the door and out of the general population.
In the visitors room, Bellamy was talking to Octavia when Kane, Abby, Erin and an unknown girl came in. Kane looked at Erin and gestured towards Octavia.
"Octavia Blake, you are now free. You will be released immediately," said Erin, formally. "You're free, Octavia, and so are we!" she said, gesturing to the girl.
"Seriously?" asked Octavia.
"Yes," said Kane. "Thelonius Jaha has been arrested and stripped of his position of Chancellor. We are trying to find out what he did and to make sure that we all go to the ground." Bellamy looked at each of them, not really believing it was true.
"I picked up your jacket, O," said Erin. "There's nothing left in the cell."
"I'm free? I can walk out of that door," she said pointing to the door that led to freedom, "instead of that one?" she said, now pointing to the door that led back to the prison cells.
"Yes," said Kane. "Are you ready to go?"
"You bet your life I am!" she said, with relief. She got up and went to the outside door and looked at the guard.
"Open the door, please, I'd like to go home." The guard looked to Kane who nodded and the guard opened the door and let Octavia, Erin and Clarke walk through it to freedom. Kane, Abby and Bellamy walked through after them and saw the three of them hugging and twirling around, dancing, and happy to be freed.
"Now what?" Erin asked.
"Now we go home," said Clarke.
"I meant with us. Octavia and I have never been to school or interacted with anyone outside the prison. Clarke can go back to her life, but we've never really had one."
The others sobered at that thought.
"Octavia, you'll have to sleep on the couch. I'm afraid that after mom died, the guards took her bed," admitted Bellamy.
"Don't care, Bell, those beds in the prison are lumpy as hell. Even the space under the floor wasn't as lumpy!"
"And I get to go home to empty quarters now my sister is on the ground," Erin said with a sigh.
"You knew?" asked Kane.
"Well yeah, Kane, Jaha let her come and visit me and tell me the reason I was freed - the first time."
"Let's go to your quarters and talk about things," said Kane, looking at everyone. Abby and Bellamy looked like they wanted to object, but the three girls all nodded and started to move off. The other three adults followed them.
Once in Erin's quarters, they sat wherever they could.
"Now what do you know?" asked Kane. Everyone looked at everyone else. Kane noticed. "What do you all know that I don't?" he asked.
"Well, we know who got sent down, but we don't know why. We know that Jaha broke his promises to both Octavia and I, and we know that those people who went down were sent down with an unusable radio," said Erin.
"How do you know the radio's unusable?"
"Because Raven Reyes has built a radio on the ground and has been in contact with us," said Abby. Kane's eyebrows rose.
"You've been in contact with those on the ground?"
"Yes. We all had little parts of what was going on, but not the whole picture. Believe it or not, it was the kids in prison who kept putting the little bits together. Octavia talked to Bellamy, Erin talked to Harper and I talked to Clarke - or rather she talked to me."
"It was a daisy chain of information, Kane," said Erin. Each part was added to the rest and we figured out who was sent down and when. They made a radio and got in touch with Monty - Harper's boyfriend and a friend of Raven's. Harper and Monty have talked to each of them and they are on the ground safe and sound."
"They are safe?"
"Yeah."
"So what's next?"
"We could call in Monty and Harper and we can all talk about what happens next and what we need to do," said Clarke. Kane thought about it and nodded.
"Can you get in touch with them and let them know to come here immediately?"
"We can try," Abby said. I know where Monty lives."
"And I can check out some of the hangouts," said Bellamy.
"Okay, go do that now," Kane said. They nodded and left.
Erin got up and looked around her quarters, looking in cupboards and checking in drawers to see if anything was left behind.
"Kane, I'm going to need some more clothes and some supplies," Erin said, coming back from her parents bedroom. He sighed, but nodded.
"Octavia too," he said.
"What about me?" asked Clarke.
"I think your mother would have saved your things, Clarke."
"You mean the reclamation team hasn't been through their quarters taking Clarke's things?" asked Erin.
"Not yet," said Kane.
"Not yet," Erin repeated as if she couldn't believe what he was saying. "Kane, you do realise that between Sol going to the ground and me being led here, the reclamation team had been in and taken practically everything!"
"But they are supposed to wait two weeks before they go in for things!" Kane said, appalled.
"Well they're not. Who's in charge of that team?"
"Shumway," Kane admitted.
"Shumway! Kane! My sister says he's a psychopath! She wouldn't trust him to tell her which direction the sun rose!"
"I'm aware that things have been done that shouldn't, but I intend to put those same things right. I'll need help in doing it though."
"Yeah, well, we're children so the adults won't take any notice of us," said Octavia.
"So once everyone is here, what do we do?"
"You tell me everything you know and what was said by those on the ground. After that, we make plans to get everyone to the ground."
"Good. I want to make sure that when we go to the ground, that those in prison go with us. It's not fair to save the innocent and leave the prisoners to die."
"We'll all go to the ground, Clarke. I'm not leaving anyone behind." Clarke nodded and they waited for the other two to return. Abby returned first.
"I talked to Monty's father and he said that Monty was out and about somewhere with Harper, but he didn't know where." Soon after Bellamy came back with Monty and Harper. After hugs from Monty and Harper for those newly freed, Kane took over again.
"Okay, so I need to know exactly what is going on, who knows what and how far you've got with whatever plan you have," said Kane. They all nodded and Erin started them off. It would be a while before everyone had told him their part in it all.
xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx
When they had all told of their parts and the whole story, Kane sat back in amazement. To think that these kids were passing messages to each other and other people right under the guards' noses, it was unreal.
"Okay, I need to get to the Command deck and make sure they know I'm now the Chancellor and why. Abby, you come with me, Bellamy, get back to work and I'll have your work area changed so you can access some of the smaller guards' offices. They don't just keep the records in the main office. I need you to find out what you can." Bellamy nodded.
"Erin and Octavia, we'll wait a few days until we know what's going on on the ground before we enrol you into school. You can take some tests to find out what you know and what you need to be taught. I think we can miss some things, but English, Math and the sciences are essential." Both girls looked at each other and sighed.
"Fine, but I don't like it," said Erin.
"Me, neither," said Octavia.
"Monty, Harper, can you monitor that radio in your spare time?"
"Sure, but what about night time?"
"We'll just have to hope they don't call then, Monty." Erin and Octavia looked at each other.
"We could do that," said Erin. "No-one knows we even exist, so we won't be missed."
Kane thought about it and then nodded.
"Monty, show them what to do." Monty nodded.
"Bell, I'll probably crash at Erin's after a night shift, it would stop me from waking you up when you didn't need it."
"O, I don't care about that, our quarters are your home."
"Yeah, but Bellamy, I'm not used to sharing with you anymore. I'm used to Erin."
"You want to move in here?" he asked incredulously.
"I think I need to start to be more independent, Bell. I know you want me at home, but for the past year, the prison was my home and before that it was a small space under the floor. Being able to move around is going to be so different for me that I know I'll want to explore - at all hours of the day or night."
"Octavia!"
"Bellamy! I'm not a little girl who needs to be kept hidden, anymore. I'm now free to move about the Ark. This is my chance, Bell, MY chance and choice." Bellamy thought about it some more.
"Okay - for now, but if mom says you have to come home, you come home, alright?"
"Yes, brother, if mom says we have to play nice, I'll come home," she said, smirking. Bellamy smiled as well. That was a phrase their mother used all the time when they were younger.
Clarke looked at her mom.
"Don't even think about it, Clarke, you're coming home with me." Clarke sighed and nodded.
"As long as you realise that I need my space too. I've been alone for a few months now mom and I'm used to the quiet." Abby stopped and stared at Clarke, she recognised that Clarke had matured in her few months in prison.
"Okay, I'll try, but you have to give me some leeway, I'll try not to keep checking in on you all the time, as long as you stay home and not move out just yet."
"Deal," said Clarke.
"Good. Abby we'd better get to command," Kane said as he stood.
"Monty and I'll go wait by the radio," said Harper.
"Can we go with you and learn what we need to do?" asked Erin.
"Sure," said Monty. Everyone went where they needed to be. Clarke went to her quarters to settle in while her mom and Kane were in the Command centre. She hadn't seen her room for weeks, but it seemed that nothing had been disturbed. She opened her closet and looked at her meagre belongings. She had never realised just how little people actually had. Three tops, two jumpers, two pairs of pants and a jacket. After having basic prison wear, she was glad to be able to wear her own clothes again. She picked out a change of clothes and went to get a shower - the first one in several weeks.
