The drive was as predictable as it could be. With old pals like the double trouble they proudly were, the trip could easily be summarized by complaining through laughs all the way to Utah. They were the kind of friends that could basically be loud or completely silent depending on their moods. Both would respect each other's state unless there was a confession that had to be made.

- So… what is this all about? Provenza finally blurted out.

- What do you mean? Andy played dumb, feeling like postponing this conversation as far as he could.

- Nah you're not getting away with it this time. What is up with the Captain? he insisted.

- Well, that's a long story anyways… don't wanna bother you with all my crap…

- Good news! We have 5 hours left to kill and I'm the one asking for my sentence so… I'm all ears! Shoot, for Christ's sake! Provenza played the old grumpy man not knowing how to deal with tender and emotional talks.

- Fine… I don't even know where to start actually! Andy emphasized.

- The beginning could be a great start… just guessing…

- Okay so over 20 years ago, 23 to be precise, I was in a relationship with Sharon, I mean the Captain Raydor.

- What the hell? Provenza shouted beyond surprised.

- Come on, let me continue or we'll never get this over with.

- Right your stories are always so long to be told, please go on milady… he openly made fun of his storyteller skills.

- So we were together and hung out with each other for about 2 years. That can seem weird knowing after that she became the very unfamous FID intern, but at the time she was studying to become a lawyer and we were really happy together. You know I think people should just try to know her better because she's a wonderful person really!

- Yeah right… he rolled his eyes upwards.

- No, I'm serious!

- I know you are, Prince Charming. Now go on with your weird story, Louie retorted, wondering why he had even asked about it.

- Anyways, at some point she ended the relationship for no apparent reason and I never heard of her again until she reappeared 5 years later as a member of the LAPD. She was married already and had 2 children already.

- How sweet!

- Don't be ironic, you don't know the whole story yet. Of course, I was mad at her for quite a few years because of the way she had left me and everything. I guess we could even say that it was the factor that triggered my alcoholism for a bunch of years.

- And to thank her you're gonna save her life, how nice of you Cinderella!

- Stop calling me that! What happened was that I had told her I wasn't really into marriage because of my parents' troubled relationship… implicitly I told her I wouldn't marry her. What I didn't know though was that she was pregnant with our child and ended up not knowing what to do about it since I seemed to be against the idea…

- That wasn't a smart move, pal…

- I know… I was such an idiot! Unfortunately on her way back from my apartment she had a car crash and lost our baby which is why she weirdly disappeared without giving further explanation.

- Oh… I wasn't expecting that, Louie could feel his partner in crime getting into the soft side, still very affected by it.

- I only found out about that 13 years ago when she started working with us to investigate on the leak we had in our division. With the whole problem in her marriage going on, the beating up and everything, we got closer again and we just realized we still loved each other.

- Then why wouldn't you get back together?

- It was complicated… we both very much wanted to be together and each passing day was just proving us that we were meant to be. I guess I just wasn't ready to admit it out loud even less tell Charlotte off. I was scared to lose my relationship with the kids since it was still quite fragile at the time.

- And then she left for Witness Protection… Louis would never admit it but he was touched by their love story.

- Yeah… then she left and we had the hardest goodbyes I ever had to make in my whole life… She made me promise not to wait for her because we didn't know how long she would be away or if she would even come back some day.

- So you stayed with dame Charlotte that never made you happy.

- Well I guess that's mean to say she never made me happy but yes she made me less happy than Sharon even though she tried hard… we were definitely not meant to be.

Andy was at peace with ending his marriage. Things were now fully clear in his mind and he knew exactly what he had to do.

- That's the least you can say! It was so obvious! Provenza emphasized.

- Really? I thought I was hiding it quite well… Andy chuckled.

- You were pathetic at it, Provenza laughed, enjoying making fun of his old pal that was convinced he could hide his feelings from him.

- I wasn't that bad, Andy chuckled again, was I?

- Terrible! he exclaimed.

- Anyways coming back to my story, Sharon left and I tried to hold my promise, so I gave Charlotte a shot even though I knew I would never really love her. 13 years have gone by and about a month ago I got a note from Sharon! And Charlotte hid the damn note from me! She made up a lie to prevent me from looking at it and by the time I got to finally read it, an old lady called me saying Sharon had been missing for a month and had been seriously threatened. I was just so mad! You have no idea how worried I am about Sharon…

- I understand… so you're going to the Captain's rescue and then what?

- Well, I finally told Charlotte I wanted to divorce and hopefully we'll get there in time to save Sharon… Andy looked suddenly very emotional, deeply frightened to lose her once again. I know you don't like her and I'm not asking you to, but please you gotta help me Louie, because I can't lose her… It took me so long to make my move that I really need to be with her now and finally live the happy life I've always dreamt of…

- Nah don't start whining, I'll help you. Now press on the gas, will you? We won't be able to do anything for her if you keep driving like a grandma!

He felt for his old pal. Grumpy Provenza couldn't help but bring the conversation around something else before he wouldn't be able to hide his emotion anymore. He didn't like the Captain much, Andy was right, but he understood how the two of them were meant to be and he'd do anything in his power to help his best friend save his girl.

The rest of the drive was more silent, both feeling quite heavy with emotion. They just had to make it in time to save her. There was no other outcome they could live with.

Brenda was supervising the investigation from the Murder Room. They still didn't have much information though, the white board being just that – white. They knew the last place she had been seen at, which was the superstore where she worked. They knew her address. That was about it. Flynn and Provenza were heading to her apartment, trying to find a possible clue of where Jack could have taken her. His intentions were still pretty vague but he had tried to kill her before the team assumed he would probably try again. It made this case extremely urgent not mentioning the fact that it concerned a member of the LAPD.

A patrol car had also been sent to the cabin where her children and Martha were hiding, would he try to get them as well. The Lieutenants had called in minutes ago, saying that unfortunately nothing was found at her place except the note which laid open on the coffee table. They could share it with the Utah Police Department hoping for them to find a fingerprint on it leading to an accomplice or something but anyways it wouldn't do much as to where she could be. They hesitated to publish a picture of Jack in the news. Maybe a witness had seen him. The problem was he'd know they were looking for him and could impulsively kill her, feeling suddenly trapped. They were stuck. The chief needed a little more to act upon and so far there was nothing helpful. Nonethless she had Utah's Police Department full collaboration and access to their video surveillance which was a good start.

Andy hurried to the supermarket along with his partner. They interrogated Sharon's colleagues, hoping for someone to know something more. Nothing. Until there was some hope again. Right at the warehouse's vehicle entrance, they found a piece of a broken headlight. Finally. Something to dig into. Both Lieutenants hurried to inform the rest of the team. Buzz started looking for video surveillance showing a car with a broken headlight in the store's area. Jack was probably drunk to break his headlight like that or under drugs.

- We've got something Lieutenant. A green Honda CR-V driving reverse out of the warehouse. Tall guy wearing a cap was driving. Could definitely be Jack.

- Thank you Buzz, Flynn answered through the phone. Can you see Sharon with him in the car?

- Hum… Oh… hum no, I don't see anyone with him in the car. The Captain was probably in the trunk.

- Okay! We have a description for the car now, please send it to every unit, we need to spot the car. Buzz can you make a search on the car's registration? Jack must have taken another identity, Brenda was particularly efficient, she knew what an urge it all was.

- Yup! Just did! And we have an ID: Robert Hill, Address: 3520 Moore Rd, Emery, Utah, Buzz quickly added.

- Perfect! Did you hear this Lieutenant Flynn and Provenza? Go go go!

- On our way, Chief! It's an hour from here.

They were finally getting closer.

- Lieutenant Tao! Contact Utah's Police Department and send reinforcement to 3520 Moore Rd, Emery. We're gonna catch this little shit!

- On it, Ma'am!

Days felt like years. She had been locked there for weeks and still no sign of any help. Sharon had set a plan and she intended to apply it and get out of this mess by herself. She had learnt a long time ago that sometimes you just have to save yourself. No one had come and no one would come after such a long time. And how would they even know where she was? Martha had her instructions but that would imply that Andy would still be willing to help her out. As she couldn't let herself die waiting for someone to find her, she decided that today was the day. Ration time came again and she could hear Jack's footsteps approaching the thick wooden door. It was time to use her best acting skills.

- Hey hey! Food time! You don't look so fat anymore! Jack was all smiles.

- Thank you, she simply answered smiling back.

- Oh and in a good mood as well! he was surprised.

- Yeah, always when you're around, she lowered her eyes looking at the tray he still had in his hands.

- And finally coming to her senses! Good girl! as he handed the tray to Sharon, she grabbed his hand looking straight into his eye.

- I am. You're my husband, Jack, she couldn't help but feel nauseous inside when she heard herself say those words.

She understood her number was working when he put the tray on the ground and pushed her up against him. She was disgusted to feel him hard against her body. It was funny to feel him aroused when he had dispraised her for so many years, not even looking at her anymore. Was it his domination that made him feel so exhilarated? She had to play along knowing it was her best chance to get out of there. She touched him, showing him he could trust her. She secretly wanted to find out if he had a phone in one of his pockets. Calling 911 would be the best plan, of course way too easy. Obviously, today he didn't have it. She then went along with the second best plan she had in mind.

When he was caught up in his arousal, vulnerable, his tongue disgustingly deep into her mouth, she took the weapon she had created and hidden under her skirt belt and stabbed him first into his back and then into his left calf, hoping to earn herself enough time to flee. Once out she would run as far as she could to find civilization and call for help.

He groaned with pain and kneeled in front of her. She released herself from his grip biting his arms to blood. Sharon got out of the cellar running barefoot, not even feeling the pain caused by all the debris she was stepping on. Her feet were bleeding. She couldn't care less. Her body was weak but fortunately adrenaline was doing her job. As she reached the ground floor, she realized she was in an abandoned aircraft hangar. She was probably in the middle of nowhere and she would have to run a lot before reaching help. She spotted the exit door and deeply inhaled preparing herself for the big run.

- You really thought you'd get away from me you bitch! Jack shouted.

She felt her arm being pulled backwards and lost her balance. He threw her on the ground and she heard him pull the trigger upwards. Her vision was blurred and her ears were singing. She tried to crawl towards the exit when she realized he hadn't shot her yet. He pulled her by the ankle and this time he pointed the gun right at her head. As she quietened, being scared that he'd shoot her, he stroke a blow on her head using his gun. She dropped limp on the ground. Game over.
