Now, in the present time, I am starting 5th grade this year. I'm nervous cause it's a new school and I don't know anyone. Mom and dad were driving home from the park and I heard them talking about I was going to a school named, "Beecher Prep." I'm excited and I hope that I meet new friends. ITS TOMORROW... I have to go to Beecher Prep tomorrow! Well, I gotta go to sleep I got a long day ahead of me tomorrow.

Well, this is it. Going to middle school and not knowing what is in that school. While me and mom were walking I asked, "Is it going to be okay?" "It's going to be okay, Auggie." I hoped so. I walked through that gate and got a whiff of books and old lunch.

A few weeks ago, I went on a virtual tour to meet classmates and see the school. Our principal, Mr. Tushman greets everyone. Dad said him and mom had a teacher named Ms. Butt! I kind of remembered my class so I went in and everyone was greeting each other so that was nice. This kid, Julian said, "hey, new kid!" That kind of felt pity to me.

I didn't see a lot, considering everyone had masks on because of quarantine. But I saw Charlotte and Jack Will who I saw on the virtual tour. My cousin, Mikayla told me to never give up and keep going. There was no going back. Everyone said hi and I took a seat at my desk next to Jack. This kid Henry didn't want to sit next to me, I knew because he was sitting on top of someone's desk. He shoved his backpack between our desks so it was like a wall between our desks.

Our teacher, Mr. Browne, said "Good morning and welcome new students to Beecher Prep." Mr. Browne assigned homework before we left to go to our next period. Before I could even get a chance to notice what Mr. Browne wrote on the board, he erased it.

We started on a Friday so I didn't have to worry about kids talking about me tomorrow. On Monday, Mr. Browne wrote down on the whiteboard, "Precepts=Really important things!" He said a really important one. Between given the chance to be kind, Choose Kindness. People listed 'precepts' for him to write on the board like homework, school, friends, family, and someone even said sharks!

To me this seemed interesting and he said we had to make a speech or a paragraph of an explanation on what the precept we chose meant. I decided to do "Your deeds are your monuments."

I made a paragraph on when you do something wether it be something like picking up trash or helping someone walk across the street, that good deed will be remembered, or it being put as it is a statue, something big and memorable.

By the time it was lunch time I rushed to our Summer Table and sat by Summer. She said Mr. Komya gave her homework just by observing what happens when you microwave a soap bar. Seems fun so I wanted to do her homework.

Me and mom were walking back home and Summer said, "Bye Auggie!" When I got home, I flopped on my bed. Mom asked me, "Was it good or bad, one to ten." I showed a five. "That's better than I expected!" I knew she would be happy about that." Who was that girl that said bye to you?" "Summer." I said. Although everyone didn't see each other's faces until lunch cause of our masks.

Ms. Petosa said that the only way to succeed is to listen and follow directions. I kind of believed that but I also knew that it was also to keep healthy and constantly energized. When I would be at recess, I would sit on a bench, thinking what it would be like to be as fast as the other kids.
