Chapter 14: The Vision of a Thunder-God, and The Blame Game

King Thor was not the same Thor that you would remember, the years of constant battles took their toll on him as he retreated to Asguard to rule in Odin's absence while enjoying his retirement. His greying beard was mixed with bits of blond since he stepped up and encountered Donavan Blake, his alter ego who was sentient and locked away by Odin till he broke free in his madness and caused a ruckus with jane foster on earth, nearly cutting down the world tree as he returned to Asguard to lay waist.
Only for all of their forces to rally behind him and a sobered-up Odin to bring him down and punish him for all time with his chained body in the bottom of the dungeon of Asguard and a giant snake dripping venom in his face and eyes.
Even Mjolnir was different, since Odin's enchantment came undone for a while anyone could lift it with ease, even the likes of tony stark ironically. Only for King Thor to restart it, which made it like it was before.
Still though, it just wasn't the same after recent events….
Today though, …. "Something was wrong in the realm known simply as Midguard". That much was clear.
The freshly healed world tree could sense it, as well as Thor who sat on his throne holding Mjolnir as it lightly vibrated in his hands ever so slightly.
The lady Siph and Loki were in his hall by his side when the rattling started and they could instantly tell something was wrong in one of the realms further down.
Mjolnir was acting almost like it was, "restless".
The lightly rattling hammer of his wasn't the most active object on its own, which you can imagine was making the likes of Thor starring intently down at it, with a look on his face that indicated he was trying to figure out what was wrong with it.
He closed his eyes touching the end of the Asgardian metal that hummed in his hand lightly before being pulled into a vision as it did.
Then after a moment of silence, his eyes shot open with a look of what looked like, "Horror", on his face as he starred off into space nearly dropping his hammer as he slumped back into his throne, startling the others in the room making them wonder what could frighten the mighty Thor so suddenly, and in this manner.

"WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU TRY TO STOP HIM"! Emma demanded with a heaving breath towards Jean Grey, Kurt, and Laura, while she turned away from the bloodied Mr. Sinister who was twitching with spasms every minute or so on the said floor next to the table with the busted metal straps, and lying in a small pool of his own blood as he was passed out and barely breathing. But otherwise, was still alive regardless. Storm was starring in horror at his sorry state, before shooting a look at the three then at Rogue and Kitty that indicated that this was too much to be considered "normal".
Rogue and kitty were off to the side while trying to not be the center of attention of what's going on.
Only for Emma to turn towards Kitty and Rogue a moment later, Emma still had the same look on her face that was infuriated that they didn't step in either, and also…, "WHY WERE YOU TWO EVEN HERE TO BEGIN WITH"!? She demanded with an edge to her voice that was picked up on by Jean, Kurt and Laura who realized that whatever it was that Derrick did, happened to her in the council chambers while she and Storm were meeting Abigail Brand.
All five of them were wondering one thing, "If we felt it and she felt it too, who else did it affect"?
That made them shiver remembering what that was like since they technically were in ground zero. Especially Mr. Sinister who groaned on the floor, he seemed to have the worst of it all. They were trying to purge it from their minds as they thought about it. Making Kitty and Rogue visibly shiver as they stood there uncomfortably as Emma was waiting for an answer, as well as Storm who noticed this from them.
"An answer to your first question is, unless you didn't feel what just went on a few minutes ago on ground zero, we could barely even breath", Laura suddenly spoke up causing Emma, storm and the two that they were waiting for an answer from to turn and look at her with some confusion on Emma's and Storms part.
Sure, they could get that Jean and the others, not to mention them were freaked out, but Laura, the same Laura who was pretty much a female clone of wolverine! That earned them curiosity on their part.
"Now to the second question", "I asked them to be here to put their feelings aside to give Derrick moral support for violating his privacy the way you were going to do before this whole thing started"! "Which you had no business doing in the first place"! She practically spat at them with a seething glare that surprised not only Emma and Storm, but Rogue and Kitty Pride as well.
"He has the mind of a child from what I heard and saw"! "He's traumatized for crying out loud"!
Her voice was close to yelling as her hands were in a pair of fists and shaking by now. Which shocked Emma and Storm in particular especially well.
"…. Wasn't it you who got into a fight with him right after he arrived"? Emma replied while trying not to act slightly scared at the feral mutant at this point.
"I know", Laura said as she seemed to calm down a bit with regret in her eyes as she looked down at Mr. Sinister who was on the floor. "But given what we learned on our end, and what his mind has been reduced to, I now realize that was a mistake, I only added to the pain of a scared child who had no one in his life".
"I caused him nothing but more inner turmoil and agony". She finished not looking up at the stunned Emma, Storm, Rogue, and Kitty as she closed her eyes. Thinking back to his rat named Mr. Rat who was his only friend in life growing up. And the look on his face when Jean Grey handed him his teddy before he broke down crying in Jean's shoulder.
Now it was Storm's, Rogue's, and Kitty's turn to be surprised and slightly feeling bad at her declaration, "his mind must really be a mess for Laura of all people to admit that". The three thought simultaneously as they all felt slightly bad now.
"While I agree the situation is regretful", Emma said slightly stunned by Laura's confession. Which earned her a look from everyone in the room. "There has to be a reckoning for this and what he's done to another member of the council", Pointing to Mr. Sinister as she did, it's evident now more than ever that he's unstable". "We run an island nation and the council made its decision including the one on the floor who was lying in agony"! She said with some anger in her voice while Kurt and Laura were downright angry now that this was coming up again for the third time in a row.
"And more than that, this is the fourth incident in under a week since he arrived here and the most serious of them", look at what he did, to a member of the quiet council no less! She stated as she looked back at Jean Grey, and then Laura who had dark looks on her faces.
No one in the room was as angry as Jean seeing that she still kept certain details of his mindset out of the picture because of how bad they were, and her emotions were reaching the breaking point.
Kitty, Rogue, and Storm were worried at where she was getting at as they stood quietly, listening intently.
If Emma was fazed, she didn't show it before continuing.
"We cannot have another incident like this"!
"So, starting now, he's going to be under strict lockdown in a containment room while under surveillance, until the quiet council holds an emergency meeting in one days' time with our associates on Mars and the X-Force to decide what to do about his self-destructive behavior"! She said before she turned and walked out leaving a stunned audience.
Especially Kurt, Jean and Laura who shot storm a glare that she voted to have this happen in the first place.
As Emma walked out however, she didn't bother looking to the side to see an equally stunned Logan, and Pixie who were standing there in silence for a few minutes after what they heard. Then looking into the room to see the still downed Mr. Sinister who was barely awake now who then said one thing.
"… ouch…".
