Chapter Fourteen:

"Go find Merida and Jack!" North called to the two spirits as he diverted the sleigh into the battle. "I will hold line!"

Toothless touched down outside the castle, and Hiccup patted his head and he and Rapunzel slipped off his back. The dragons still prowling the castles were ansty and confused, and Hiccup felt a pang of regret in his chest.

He'd left them all there to suffer. He'd forgotten about them… and Merida.

Rapunzel was already running into the castle, but Hiccup stopped and planted his feet firmly on the ground. He took a deep breath, letting the air around him fill his body as he focused on the winds.

Hiccup closed his eyes and whistled, and every dragon outside the castle turned and looked at him. Hiccup used the wind to give them all a boost into the air, and pushed away.

"Free…" He whispered, and the dragons fled the battle. It was a whirl of colors and wings, but it only lasted a few minutes. Hiccup smiled a little, and ran back to join Rapunzel.

"Jack!"

The blonde burst into the destroyed throne room, her voice already hoarse from screaming.

"Jack!" Rapunzel cried. "Where are yo- JACK!"

Rapunzel leaped over the scattered stones, ignoring how they slipped under her feet as she made her way over to the winter spirit. The Frost King had once seemed large and terrifying, but now, he was just as young as the others. Young and broken over his own ice.

"Jack!" Rapunzel almost sobbed, reaching him and brushing his hair back. "Please… please be alive!"

"P-Punzie?" The Frost King croaked. Rapunzel gasped and looked into his eyes, only to be met with a familiar blue instead of the darkling gold. He may not be all the way there… but her Jack was back.

"Jack!" Rapunzel cried, tears threatening to spill over. "You're going to be o-okay!"

"N-no, P-punzie," Jack stuttered, trying to take a breath. "It's t-too late,"

"No!" Rapunzel protested, reaching down to try and stop the bleeding. "You can't die!"

"Rapunzel! Where are you… Jack?" Hiccup interrupted, finally entering the room. "Oh no,"

"H-hey Hic," Jack muttered. "I'm dying,"

"No you aren't!" Rapunzel protested, but Jack only smiled sadly. He took one last breath, and his hand dropped from her. "NO!"

Hiccup stepped forwards, but Rapunzel screamed - something so loud and broken and pained that he stopped. The blonde looked up through the ruined ceiling, where the moon was just barely visible.

"Help him!" She cried, gesturing to the moon. "SAVE HIM!"

"I cannot," The man in the moon responded, his voice swimming through both seasonal spirits heads. "I did not bring him into our world in the first place. I have no claim to him,"

Hiccup slowly moved Jack's body off of the ice, laying him down on the ground while Rapunzel's tears streamed down her face.

"Save. him." Rapunzel growled suddenly, almost becoming the dark spirit of pain she'd been for the past fifty years. The moonlight shone brighter, as if he was trying to argue with her.

"I cannot save him… but you might…"

A single moonbeam hit Jack, splitting around Rapunzel's head as the blonde knelt down and pulled her hair out of her braid.

Then, as her and the Man in the Moon's voices combined, Rapunzel began to sing.

"Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine…"

Hiccup watched in amazement as Rapunzel's hair began to glow, starting at the roots.

"Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine…"

The glowing hair reached Jack, covering the wound as flesh knitted itself back together. Hiccup gasped.

"Save what has been hurt, save the fates design…"

The icy spikes of the Frost King melted away, his ashen skin brightening as his hair turned back to a snowy white.

"Save what has been lost, bring back what… once… was… mine…"

Jack took a deep breath, and opened his eyes. He looked right into Rapunzel's eyes as her hair stopped glowing and the moonbeam disappitated.

"Punzie?" He mumbled. "I-"

"Where's Merida?" Hiccup suddenly interrupted. "That's how you died, isn't it?"

"Y-yeah!" Jack cried, struggling to sit up. "She ran out - oh my god she's going to kill us all,"

"Meet me outside," Hiccup said, turning around and sprinting out of the throne room while whistling for Toothless.

"I missed you," Rapunzel whispered, hugging Jack a little tighter. "The real you,"

Jack turned a little red.

"I'm sorry for being so weird before," He muttered. "Gosh, I really was weird,"

Rapunzel laughed a little, and stood up, pulling the winter sprite up.

"We should go help the others," She said, then pointed to her hair. "I think this might come in handy,"

"Oh yeah," Jack smiled. He gripped his staff a little harder, focusing as the cold wings rallied around him. "I need to make up for some stuff, don't I?"

"It wasn't your fault Jack," Rapunzel said quickly. "The Guardians promised to explain everything - after we stop Merida and find the fourth season,"

"The fourth season?"

"Apparently I'm spring, you're winter and Hiccup's fall," The blonde said as she quickly rebraided her hair. "We start the search for the fourth after we stop Merida,"

She turned to head back outside, but Jack used his staff to grab the blonde around the waist. He yanked and pulled her back into a hug.

"Punzie…" He whispered. "I-I don't want to lose you… again…"

"Jack-"

"Rapunzel I love you," Jack said quickly. "And I want you to stay safe out there,"

Rapunzel smiled, and a series of fireworks went off in Jack's chest. The blonde jumped up and gave Jack a quick kiss on the cheek before facing the demolished throne room. She rolled her neck, holding her hands out. She clenched her fists, and the rocks scattered about the room suddenly lifted into the air.

Rapunzel turned back to Jack.

"Don't worry about me,"

Authors Note: Rapunzel's actually pretty epic, huh?

Update: I'm two and a half chapters out from finishing Omega Project! I don't know who's really excited or waiting for that one, but it'll start to come out after I finish posting Lionhearted!
