There was a loud commotion outside of the throne room as Thor and his friends grabbed their weapons and ran past the sisters into the hall.
"Eris, Harmonia, go to your bedroom and stay there until it is safe," Loki told his daughters firmly.
"But, Father-"
"Do not argue with me, Eris," he warned in a tone that dared her to speak out of line. "Remember your promise."
Eris sighed and nodded before grabbing her sister's hand and leading her through the crowd of people.
"What is going on?" Harmonia mumbled as they reached their room.
Eris just shook her head and pushed back her hair in frustration. "I don't know, but I had a feeling that something was wrong..." She glanced down at her gloved hands and sighed.
Harmonia took a deep breath, then exhaled, trying her hardest not to hyperventilate as she leaned against their door. Eris noticed her sister's actions and attempted to calm her down.
"I'm scared, Eris," she whispered. She wrapped her arms around herself and her eyes welled with tears. No, not the tears.
Eris placed her hands on both of her shoulders, which caused her to tense a bit and look at her. "Harmonia, we'll be fine. Father will be fine too."
"Are you sure?"
"I promise."
Harmonia nodded and wiped the tears from her face. Eris knew how she felt; in fact, she doesn't know if everything really will be alright, but she didn't want her baby sister to worry anymore.
"Where's Father?" Harmonia asked after finally calming down.
Eris fell silent, then shrugged. She would have expected him to follow behind them, but now she grows a bit worried. Eris pulls their room door open and peeked outside the room, waiting for someone, anyone, to walk by, but nobody came through. They took this chance to explore the empty and quiet castle. They walked for a while until they heard voices in the dining room.
Madness? What sort of madness?"
Eris could tell it was Volsagg speaking. The girls leaned in from outside the door, hoping they won't get caught.
"We're going to Jotunheim."
Harmonia quietly gasped as Thor continued to talk about how their grandfather, Odin, fought the Frost Giants and his friends telling him that it was forbidden. Jotünheim is a dangerous place and they didn't want anyone to risk their lives for them, but they are strong; stronger than them.
The sisters have heard many stories about such a place; the tales of the big blue monsters who lived in the depths of snow were pretty much burned into their memories. But now that they know they exist, the stories don't sound too pleasant.
"They can't go there. It's too dangerous," Harmonia whispered. "What if they don't come back?"
Eris backed away from the door, then leaned against the wall. So many thoughts were running through her head; why would Thor want to go to Jotünheim? What if something happens to them...to Loki? Would he come to at least say goodbye or something?
Eris glanced towards the door. "Come on. We don't want to get caught," she said while grabbing Harmonia's hand and leading her back to their room.
"Eris..." Harmonia started. "Will they really be okay?"
The older sister went quiet. She didn't want to lie to her; she wasn't even sure herself, but she didn't want to worry her either. "I hope so, Harmony."
It's been an hour since the twins heard of Thor's plan to go to Jotunheim and Erie was not too keen on letting Loki go along with it. She waited a while before deciding to speak to her father while Harmonia fell asleep. She stood outside his room as he prepared himself to leave.
"You're really going out there?" she asked. Her arms were crossed and she leaned against the frame of the door.
He sighed. He knew she was there, staring him down. It's not that she was trying to hide her presence or even scare him. He also knew that she and Harmonia were listening to their conversation; even though she tried to hide their presence, she only managed to hide her sister's. He wasn't sure if it was on purpose or not. "I don't have much of a choice," he replied.
"But why? You know Thor is crazy about this one. You could get hurt, or worst."
Loki walked up to his oldest daughter, resting his hand on her cheek. "Eris, my dear, I will be fine. I promise to return alive and well."
Eris looked down at the ground. She really wanted to ask if she could go along with him, to fight by his side like he promised one day once she was old enough, but she knew he wouldn't let her. She had to try. "Can I join you?"
He sighed. He knew that question was coming. "Not this time, Eris."
"Oh, come on, please? I promise to be good. I'm old enough now and I have trained for this moment since I was six. Please give me a chance to prove myself?" Eris could practically hear her childish behavior slip. It was unlike her to act like that, but she couldn't help it.
"Eris-"
"Please? I can do it. I promise to stay by your side the entire time."
Loki went quiet, which made her a bit nervous. She had a feeling that he wouldn't let them go; not that she could blame him. Everyone knew that Jotunheim is not a place for her, a young princess, but she will prove them wrong. Eris looked down, waiting for his answer.
"Okay."
Eris snapped her head up at him in shock. "What?"
"You may come along, but you must stay by my side and do what I ask. Do you understand?"
The young girl nodded, trying to control her excitement. "I understand, father. Thank you."
Loki smirked a little. "Now then, put on more appropriate attire. It is rather cold."
She nods before returning to her room, where Harmonia was still sleeping peacefully in her own bed. She felt bad leaving her behind, but she wouldn't risk letting her go out there.
Compared to Eris, Harmonia wasn't exactly the strongest in terms of physical strength, but she wasn't weak. She can still hold her own; this was proved by Loki himself. Just a little more training and she'll soon reach her sister.
"Don't worry, Harmony," the older sister said. "I will come back to you. I promise."
