Chapter Eighteen: Full Circle

With the darklings transformed back, the world had righted itself. Humans who didn't believe could no longer see them, so the guardians had started to resume their usual duties. The yetis had started rebuilding the north pole workshop, so they still worked out of the Warren.

Tooth had managed to finally step foot inside the Tooth Palace, where she was surprised to see hundreds of her fairies alive and well. After much crying and joy, they'd started collecting teeth again.

Many towns had been destroyed and were now struggling. Dunbroch had managed to restore its rightful rulers, but their country would never be the same. Luckily, there weren't a lot that lived in the northern mountains, so the Frost King had only ruined a few towns beyond repair.

Despite the progress and resilience the human race had shown, the guardians had still gathered in Ashgrove, a small village out in the middle of nowhere. They spent the night leaving small trinkets and gifts under pillows, in shoes, and scattered through gardens. Their goal was to make the children as hopeful as possible, and then move on from there.

It was no surprise when the outbreak of happiness drew the attention of Pitch Black.

He came on the second night, a battalion of Nightmares rushing in from the woods towards the houses. Pitch slunk in after them, an eerie smile stretched across his face.

"Hello…" He whispered, glancing around the empty square. "I know you're here…"

"Pitch Black," North said, stepping into the moonlight (which seemed to grow brighter). The guardian held his swords loosely, but in a defensive position.

"Been a long time Pitch," Bunny said, stepping out behind the dark spirit.

"Indeed," Pitch said, examining his nails.

"You're not going to win this time," Tooth said, stepping out of her hiding place. Sandy finished the circle, tipping an imaginary hat.

"Alright then," Pitch growled. "You want a fight?"

He snapped his wrist, conjuring a scythe made of black sand. Pitch crouched, pulling his weapon back in a defensive pose before leaping into the air, scythe swinging for the guardians.

Who ran for the Nightmares instead.

A look of confusion crossed Pitch's face, and he landed hard on the ground as his scythe met nothing but air.

"What?!" He yelled, whirling around. He ran for the guardians, swinging his scythe above his head. Using nightmare sand as a boost, he launched back into the air - and stopped.

Pitch struggled against the wall of air holding him in place. He thrashed and spun, but he couldn't escape. To his horror, four new figures emerged from the shadows.

"Kozmotis!" Merida yelled, throwing her dark hood back from her head. The others did the same. "You've caused too much trouble!"

"You can never stop me!" Pitch yelled. "Not even you puny seasons! Especially not a powerless one like you!"

Merida closed her eyes, snapping her fingers as Hiccup lowered Pitch to the ground. A ring of fires popped up around his feet. Rapunzel used a combination of vines and rocks to pin Pitch's hands and feet to the ground, and Jack created a floating ring of ice spikes.

Combining their four abilities, the seasons trapped Pitch in his new elemental cage, leaving him defenseless as they approached.

"Kozmotis Pitchiner," Merida said.

"We, the seasonal guardians," Jack said.

"Hereby imprison you for your actions," Rapunzel added.

"And sentence you with a removal of your powers," Hiccup finished.

And the four seasons laid their hands on Pitch's chest. With a deep breath, the four merged their magic together and funneled it into Pitch. He yelled, and a bright light, similar to dreamsand, ripped through the empty village.

When the light died away, the Nightmares had been completely destroyed. The guardians turned back to the seasons, smiling as the four younger spirits waved back.

Pitch was slumped over in his cage, completely unconscious, and all of the color returned to his body.

Authors Note: And all we've got left is the epilogue! This story may have had some short chapters and a more basic story, but I think its something fun to look back to a quick read. What's some of your favorite RotBTD fics? I always have a soft spot for Whole New World (Geminisonic) or Dragon and the Bow (finmonster). When I first started reading fics, I tried to find some good Hogwarts ones, but nothing really hit my vibe or was finished.

So... I actually have a Hogwarts AU planned. Its just a while out.

Anyways, hope you all are having a great day!
