Eris had a strange feeling within her chest as she stared at the ceiling, unable to sleep. A warm feeling that was supposed to bring comfort, but only sent a chill down her spine even as she laid on her back on her bed. She hoped that everything that happened was a dream, at least the news of her heritage. Her? A Jotün? She couldn't believe it.
But that wasn't the thing that was keeping her awake at this time. Eris knew that sleep never came easy for her, but the visions that continuously flashed before her eyes have kept her from getting the peaceful sleep that she knew she would need. It was like her soul was being pushed into a nonexistent future. And it wasn't what she expected.
Eris finally sat up from the comfort of her blankets, her eyes scanning the room that she was in before crawling out of bed with an irritated sigh. She wanted, no, she needed to talk to her father about this alone.
Not a sound was heard when she peeked down the supposedly empty hall. She stepped out of her bedroom and began to walk briskly down the golden walls of the castle, her eyebrows furrowed. She kept her eyes to the floor, trying to contain her anger until she finally reached the throne room. Loki was sitting on the throne that once belonged to Odin, staring at the staff that was given to him until he noticed his oldest daughter enter.
"Father, may I speak with you for a moment?" the female asked, walking towards the throne.
"Yes, my dear. What is wrong?"
Eris took a second to gather her thoughts before speaking them to him. "Is it true? Are we of enemy blood?"
Eris saw her father tense at her words, then sighed. "Yes, but you and your sister are not full Jotün."
Eris glanced down at her arm. That would explain why she didn't feel the frostbite like the others. Her Jotün side was protecting her from the freezing cold temperatures of Jotünheim. Why? Why did the Allfather hide it from them? She went to open her mouth again to say something, she heard a familiar voice.
"Allfather, we wish to speak with you."
She knew that voice; it was definitely Sif. She sighed and stepped to the side so she and the Warrior Three can reach the throne.
"What is this?" Volstagg asked once he saw Loki sitting on the throne instead of Odin.
"My friends...haven't you heard? I am now the ruler of Asgard," Loki states proudly.
"Where is Odin?"
"Father's fallen into Odinsleep. Mother fears that he may not awaken," Loki responded.
So that's what happened. Frigga has given him the title of King. She leaned against the wall to listen more clearly.
"We will speak with her," Sif said.
"She refuses to leave his side. You may bring your urgent matter to me." There was a loud thud before Eris heard her father speak again. "Your King."
"We would ask you to remove Thor's banishment."
"My first command cannot be to undo the Allfather's last. We're on the brink of war with Jotunheim. Our people must have a sense of continuity in order to feel safe in these difficult times."
Little by little, Eris began to drown out the conversation. She knew that Loki wouldn't bring back Thor, so why do they even try? Then again, it would be nice of him to bring back his brother, even if the two weren't of blood.
"We're done!" she heard her father shout as he dismissed the four, in which they bowed and turned to leave the room.
Eris silently watched as the three made their way to the doors. She was sure to note their expressions as they made contact with the young princess: Sif had a look of anger and frustration. It was obvious that she was starting to get annoyed with Loki and his refusal to return Thor from banishment. Fandral and Volstagg seem to fear her, the two men trying not to bump into her in fear of how she would react. She only smirked a bit.
"Is there something else you wanted to ask me about, Eris?" Loki asked after calming down.
The young female paused for a while, before letting out a soft sigh. "No, it can wait. It's not that important."

Eris stood in front of the entrance of the Vault, an unpleasant chill filled the air as she moved closer into the room. The Casket of Ancient Winters stood in its usual place, glowing a light blue, which pulled the young princess closer to it.
"You and your sister are not full Jotün..."
Loki's words played back in her mind until she was finally within arm's reach, but she didn't dare reach out to touch it. If what her father said was true, this is the only way to prove it, right? She removed the bandages from her hand, the previous dark burn mark no longer there, and, after deciding whether to back away from the casket or not, she grabbed the side of the large golden and blue cube. She stared at her arm as her entire body slowly turned completely blue, almost like a Jotün. She wished she had a mirror to really get a glimpse of her new form. She must have looked completely different.
As she went to pull away, her vision suddenly clouded over. Another vision was taking over, but this one felt completely different from the last. It was like something was leading her soul to a whole new world. Her senses had numbed and for a moment, she couldn't feel anything.
Everything flashed so quickly that she didn't have the time to process anything, but she caught a few things that never happened before: the Frost Giant king dead, a mysterious boy who also had blue skin and blood-red eyes, and a young girl wearing a veil over her face and wielding a black scythe, similar to hers.
Eris didn't even notice that she finally let go of the Casket until her vision cleared and realized that she was still in the Vault. She took a moment to catch her breath as her skin returned to its natural skin tone. She was clearly confused about what she saw.
Was that...the future?
She stood there, that familiar feeling returned within her chest as she sighed and forced herself to walk away from the casket. She knew she had to tell Harmonia about it, but after that moment, she couldn't tell her right away.
She had a feeling that things will only get worse from there...
