The next day came as quickly as it ended for Harmonia. After learning of her true heritage, her grandfather now in Odinsleep, and her father now king, the young princess didn't know what to do. She would spend a bit more time with Eris, but she seemed more focused on her training in the gardens. She had been sitting in their shared room, reading her favorite books that laid strayed about at the foot of her bed, but she soon became bored. Not that the stories bored her, even after reading them so many times before. She got off her large bed and walked to the door, peeking down the hallway to see it empty, as usual. There was no sign of her father nor Eris. Did they leave again? She stepped out of the room and started down the hallways, past the dining room where two guards were standing. They opened the doors, assuming that the princess wanted to eat, but she gently raised her hand which made them stop.
"I am not hungry right now," she said in a soft voice, then bowed a bit. "I am looking for my father and sister. Has any of you seen them today?"
One of the guards shook his head. "No, Princess. But perhaps the king may be in the throne room."
She looked down at the ground. She would have thought that he would be in the garden, but she noticed that he spent most of the day in that melancholy room since he became king. She thanked them before turning away and speed-walks down the hall again.
'Hopefully, he is not too busy,' she thought to herself.
She soon reached the golden room and peeked inside, only to see it empty. This made her very worried. She called out to him but didn't get an answer. Where could he be? The castle may be huge, but she pretty much knew the entire place by memory. It was odd not seeing him anywhere. Maybe he did go to the gardens where Eris was.
"Looking for someone?"
Harmonia flinched when she heard a familiar voice and quickly whipped around, then sighed once she saw her father standing there. He was dressed in a black suit and tie, an attire that she wasn't quite familiar with. She had heard that people in Midgard wore clothing like his and she was confused as to where he got them. "Why are you wearing Midgardian clothing?"
"I had some important business to take care of."
"You went to see Uncle Thor, right?"
Loki chuckled softly, gently stroking the top of her head. "Of course. How could I not?" The young girl smiled a bit. " Are you alright, my dear?"
Harmonia nodded. "Yes, but I am a little bored. I wanted to go to the gardens, but I don't want to district Eris. She's been training a lot lately."
Loki smirked. He had noticed how Eris had spent her days practicing alone, but he figured she would give it a rest. Maybe it was about time he talks with her. "I will have a chat with your sister."
The princess raised an eyebrow. "She's not in trouble, is she?"
"No, of course not," he started, his smirk fading a little. "I just worry that she may tire herself out."
Harmonia smiled before gently grabbing onto her father's free hand as they started down the hallway towards the gardens. She missed being with him since he was always busy keeping Asgard safe. She would visit her grandmother when he was away, but she didn't want to see Odin in his current state.
"Father, I've been meaning to ask you something..." she started.
"What is it?"
Harmonia hesitated for a moment, then looked up at him. "Could you tell me a bit about mother?"
Even while walking, Harmonia can feel him tense a bit. He never really talked about her mother, not since her passing. He looked at his youngest daughter and for a moment, she could see the sadness in his eyes. "I wish you could've seen the look on her face when you were born. She was so happy to finally see you."
"Was she pretty?"
"Very pretty. Beautiful, even."
Harmonia smiled at this, but she couldn't help but feel saddened by not getting a chance to see her. She must have been very beautiful as her father described her; long, flowing blonde hair, bright eyes as blue as the sky; she could almost imagine how her mother looked.
"I want to show you something," Loki finally said.
"Where are we going?"
"You will see."
There was silence as she followed her father, not letting go of his hand as he guided her in front of a room that she had never seen before. The doors were large and golden and it looked as if they haven't been touched in years, until now. Loki pushed open one of the doors, letting the young princess enter first. She could barely see anything in the darkness, only relying on her hearing to find her father. She was about to call out to him until she saw a flash of green, then a warm gold light filled the room.
The first thing that she noticed was the large painting that hung on the wall in front of her; a portrait of her father and a woman smiling happily together. She walked towards it with wide eyes, letting her hand rest on the glass. "Is this...her?"
Loki nodded as he stopped beside her. "Her name was Sigyn, the goddess of fidelity."
Harmonia studied her mother. She looked exactly how he described her and Harmonia can definitely see that she also shared some of her traits, mostly her eyes and fair skin. She really was beautiful. It was enough to make her cry. She almost forgot that Loki was still standing there until he rested a hand on her shoulder after hearing her sniffles.
"There, there, don't cry, my dear," he said in a soft tone. "She wouldn't want you to cry."
She wiped her tears and nodded. "I just miss her."
Loki kneeled to her level, gently pulling her into his arms as she wrapped her arms around him, crying softly. They stayed in this position for a while until she stopped crying. "Sorry...I needed that..."
"No need to apologize," he said, kissing her forehead. "You can come back here whenever you like, okay?" She nods, wiping away her remaining tears after letting him go. "Now, let's go find your sister."
She sniffed before a little smile grew on her face and she took his hand to leave the room together. She finally had a visual of her mother, even if it wasn't exactly the same as meeting her, but it made her feel a little better nevertheless. She took one last glance at the portrait before following Loki out of the room as it grew dim due to the fading lights of the candles until it was completely dark once they closed the door behind them.
