Wanda, Bucky and Daredevil were standing in the middle of the tracks of an abandoned subway. They quickly exited down the stairs. The sky was gray and dilapidated buildings with boarded-up windows began to worry the boys. It will be hard to find the Mind Stone in that place.
- Did it work? Where are we?" asked Bucky, looking at the scenery.
-Sokovia," said Wanda, identifying the place.
Daredevil felt a presence with his supersenses.
-Nuts..."- said Matt.
- "Nuts? - wondered Bucky.
-A machine is rapidly approaching," warned Daredevil.
Suddenly, a group of robots ambushed them. A dozen androids surrounded them, while pointing guns at them. Wanda was about to destroy him with the blink of an eye.
A shout managed to stop the crowd of robots. The three heroes looked confused. The Ultrons stepped back and formed a circle around them.
An albicelestial lightning bolt hurtled through the city. The bluish flash passes right in front of them; it is familiar to Wanda. The figure stops in front of the row of ultrons, in front of the heroes.
Worn sneakers, blue T-shirt with silver jacket and white/gray hair: it was Pietro.
-Sister!" shouted Pietro, excited and with a Sokovian accent. The twins approached and hugged.
-Who is he?" whispered Daredevil in Bucky's ear. Bucky wasn't sure who this guy was either. On the other hand, Wanda looked at him astonished.
-I thought I had..." Pietro was interrupted.
-Lost," Wanda continued.
Pietro understood that they are allies. He ordered the androids to move away from the place. He offered to guide them to their shelter. However, Matt and Bucky shared a look of insecurity.
-What else have we got to lose," said Bucky.
The three began to follow the speedster. Pietro told them that in that Universe Wanda had died several years ago trying to save the Avengers. The boys asked him what happened to them but he wouldn't answer.
Finally, crossing the city and a small forest, they found Ultron's Castle; a huge, creepy castle with a jumble of ruined towers. That's where Pietro was holed up.
Daredevil and Bucky noticed that there were no people on the streets and no signs of life and became suspicious. Bucky stops Wanda, who was still excited to see her brother again, and tells her that maybe it's a trap and they shouldn't follow Pietro. They have to find the Stone as quickly as possible, they can't waste time. Wanda insists on going in. The locator says that the Stone is a few meters away, maybe it's inside the castle.
Finally, they reach the main hall inside the lair. In the middle of the room, just sitting on the throne was Vision. The same android but with a more stylized design and cape; like a real king.
Wanda was transfixed at the sight of him. Vision quickly gets up from his chair and flew all over the living room carpet until he reaches Wanda and hugs her. Vision looks confused at Pietro.
-Wanda, you're back..." Vision smiles at him and they stare at each other.
The boys notice that the Mind Stone is on Vision's forehead. Bucky and Matt again insist to Wanda that this is not their Vision and they must hurry.
Although a bit wary and embarrassed, Wanda decides to confess the truth to them and tells them that she is not from that world and must get that Stone. Vision's smile quickly faded.
-You will not leave, Wanda," warned Vision. Wanda looked at him a little confused. She brings her hand to the android's forehead but he grabs her arm quickly; squeezing tighter and tighter.
The boys run to save Wanda but Pietro stops them and hits them with his speed. Using the Stone, Vision managed to control Wanda's mind and calm her down.
-Vis... - said Wanda, with a lost look.
-Here I am, my dear," replied Vision, as he watched Pietro fight Daredevil and Bucky.
The heroes were unable to land any blows due to Pietro's speed. The twin knocked them down and dragged them to a cell in the castle.
Bucky manages to free himself, giving him a very strong blow with his metal arm. Pietro is forced to let go as Bucky fractured his arm. The winter soldier ran at full speed towards one of the exits, but the androids blocked his way.
Bucky is forced to jump through one of the large windows, falling into the snowy forest. Wasting no time, the soldier gets up and escapes through the forest, losing sight of Vision; who is now the new ruler of Earth.
Meanwhile, Pietro took Daredevil to a cell in the Castle dungeon. Everything was going wrong.
After running for quite some time through the snowy forest, Bucky seemed lost until he found a door to a Bunker, apparently abandoned. As it served as a shelter, he opened the door with his metal arm and entered.
It looked like an apparently abandoned base, although the electricity was still working. He decided to go deeper as he heard the footsteps of the robots approaching.
It was like a subway warehouse; full of boxes, supplies and many shelves. Bucky advanced cautiously and always alert.
All seemed quiet until a group of armed people ambushed him. Bucky raised his hands and made it clear that he was only seeking momentary shelter. They were aiming at him because he thought they mistook him for the Winter Soldier, his former alias.
A blond-haired, bearded fellow with a star on his chest stepped out of the shadows: Steve Rogers. He and Bucky stared at each other, transfixed. They approached each other and embraced.
Meanwhile in the castle, a long table filled with snacks and food stood in the middle of the large, lighted room. At the top sat Vision and, next to him, Wanda. A robot approached to pour them both a glass of wine.
The two stared at each other with a smile until Wanda began to question something: She felt the energy of the Mind Stone, but she didn't feel Vision.
Quickly, the android took Wanda's hand gently and looked her in the eyes again:
-Wanda, the important thing is that you are here. After all this time, you've come home. And you won't leave again," the two continued to eat.
Just below them, Pietro was taking the restraints out of Daredevil's hands. And though he looked remorseful, Pietro imprisoned him, but before he left, he threw his Katanna on the floor.
Matt sits on the bench, illuminated only by a spotlight on the ceiling. He was calmly thinking of a plan. Everything was ruined. He's imprisoned, Bucky had to flee and Wanda is blinded by Vision.
A female voice came from the corner of the room, on the top bunk bed:
-Is that a Samurai sword?" the woman rose from the bed, revealing Black Widow.
Bucky and Steve were touring the facility. While he was showing her the base, Steve introduced the main members of the resistance:
At the computers, they were concentrating on putting together some plans: Hope Van Dyne (Wasp) and to her left was Dr. Banner, in a wheelchair. The guys introduce themselves.
-Nice to meet you, Buck. I'm Bruce Banner. You may know me as the Hulk.
Who?
On the other side of the base was an old acquaintance of Bucky's; Resistance engineer and mechanic Howard Stark. Bucky froze at the sight of him, as he was an innocent victim of the Winter Soldier in the past. But Bucky's surprise was short-lived as he heard someone behind him:
-Steve! Natasha gave the signal... We have only half an hour," said the male voice. Bucky turned to see a familiar villain: Baron Zemo. He lunged to punch him but Steve stopped him.
-Easy, Bucky. Zemo is an ally. He's the leader of the Resistance," Rogers clarified.
-Where I come from, he blamed me for a crime I didn't commit," said Bucky, exalted. The others began to approach.
-And where exactly do you come from," answered Zemo.
Suddenly, a noise from behind one of the doors interrupted the conversation. It was the sound of a toilet flushing. The boys watched intently.
The door opened slowly. A voice came from the bathroom:
-Sorry, guys. I flushed it twice. It will take a while for the smell to go away," said Scott Lang as he came out of the bathroom. When he looked up he saw everyone staring at him. He looked at them in confusion.
-What did I miss?
Clarifying doubts, Bucky told where he came from and why he needed the Mind Stone and to save his friends in Vision's Lair. Now that they knew his story, he needed to know the story of this Universe.
-So, what happened to this world," asked Bucky.
-What happened here?" asked Daredevil to Natasha in the cell.
"When Tony Stark created a suit of armor to cover the World, the armor revealed itself against the World.
The one called Ultron, took possession of half of the planet thanks to his great army of machines. The Avengers got great allies like the twins to fight him, but Ultron created a powerful adversary for them: Vision.
Sooner rather than later, Vision realized Ultron's terrible plans, joined the Avengers and a romance was created between Wanda and him.
Ultron and his reign were about to fall. The heroes would triumph. But all was lost until Wanda Maximoff was killed. This was a breaking point for Vision, as he loved her deeply. He understood the destructive nature of humanity, from that moment on he decided he had to end it.
There were no more sides for Vision. He destroyed Ultron, began a hunt for the Avengers and all who supported them, and, together with Pietro, stole Ultron's army to rule and control humanity.
Over the years, Vision's reign expanded so much to the level of bringing humanity to the brink of extinction."
-Wait, Wanda was murdered? Who did it?" asked Matt. The widow ducked her head.
-Vision," she answered.
Meanwhile, Vision and Wanda were dancing in the great hall with orchestra music, happy.
The Resistance boys were continuing Vision's story, explaining it to Bucky:
"After Ultron destroyed Sokovia with an atomic bomb, he tricked Vision with the Mind Stone, making him believe that Wanda was Ultron. After having a colossal battle, Vision took her into space to kill her, there he realized she was Wanda, but it was too late.
The first human feeling he had was sadness and revenge. This led him to be a criminal and he became an enemy of the Avengers and, later, of the World.
The Avengers began to be hunted. Tony, Thor and Hawkeye were killed. Natasha was imprisoned. The Hulk was incapacitated and never came out again. Steve left the shield and couldn't stand being the leader. Pietro was forced by Vision to be his minion and assistant."
-That means that Wanda's brother is just another slave of Vision," said Bucky.
Soon, Zemo explained to him the plan to return to the Castle and complete his objectives. Bucky will return to rescue his friends and obtain the Stone.
-How will I get the Stone if it's in Vision's forehead," asked Bucky.
-We have an agent infiltrated the Base, she has the key to destroy Vision's technological system and, with it, his reign. She only needs a distraction to act," answered Zemo.
-We will be the distraction," said Howard.
-And who is the undercover agent," asked Buck.
The key to destroy Vision is in Black Widow's hand: a USB Flash Drive. Natasha explained to Matt that this Flash Drive contains Jarvis 2.0 in its files, a software capable of incapacitating Vision. It was created by Howard Stark and Dr. Banner.
-And how will we defeat him with that," asked Daredevil.
-In the basement is the computer room, from there we will introduce the Jarvis Virus. If it goes right, Vision and his empire will fall; if it goes wrong, we'll die in a heroic act.
-Okay, I'll help you," answered Matt, without hesitation.
- Are you sure? It's a suicide mission.
-I'm known as the man without fear... Besides, what else have we got to lose?
-Okay, we just have to wait for the signal.
Meanwhile at the Resistance base, the guys were getting ready to leave.
-Hope, put on your suit. We leave in five," ordered Zemo.
-Hope? From what I understand, in my Universe, you wear the suit, Lang," said Bucky to Scott.
-What? I'd never wear Hope's suit. It squeezes my marbles.
-I didn't mean that, but..." Bucky is interrupted.
-Hope is the strength of the team. I used to be, but well, Vision crippled the Hulk and since then... the big green guy decided not to go out again. It's something I've been praying for a long time to happen but, the way things are going, we need a Hulk. We need heroes.
-I don't understand how, after so much suffering and tragedy, they're still standing up and trying to make a difference," questioned Bucky.
-Well, that's our job, Bucky," said Steve, "To keep standing up and trying for those who can't anymore.
-Ok, let's go, troops," said Zemo. Bucky, Steve, Hope and Zemo set off on their journey to Castle Ultron.
But before leaving, Howard asks Bucky to come over. Howard gives the picture to Bucky. It was Tony as a little boy and him with a phrase behind it, "A fortune can never buy a second of time."
Howard asked Bucky that if they succeeded in completing their mission and returned the fallen from their Universe, to give that picture to Tony. Bucky put the photo in his pocket and promised him that the photo would get to his son. Even though he is not his son from that Universe, Howard has a desire to let Tony know how he feels.
Even though in this Universe the Winter Soldier never existed, Bucky takes advantage and apologized to him for everything he did to him in the past.
Howard, Bruce and Scott greeted everyone and wished them luck. The boys departed.
Daredevil was resting on a bench in the cell. The silence was eerie. Nothing could be heard, except Natasha's heartbeat, who was sitting next to the bars, devising an escape route.
-How long did you say that distraction "Signal" would take," Matt asked impatiently.
-It will take as long as it has to take," replied Nat, coolly.
Matt began to pick up tremors in the distance. Footsteps that made his senses tremble. He asked what kind of help was coming.
"Very big help," Natasha answered him.
Giant Wasp arrived with resistance literally on his shoulders, smashing his way through the trees and stomping robots to pieces. The robotic guards were alerted and called for all reinforcements inside the Castle.
The Resistance disembarked from Wasp and began battling their way into Vision's Lair. Flashing red alarms began to pawn the Castle. "That's our Signal, Red," said Black Widow, smiling at Daredevil.
Because of the virtual connection to Castle, Vision realized something was wrong and sent Pietro to see what was going on so as not to worry Wanda.
Outside, Bucky was making his way to enter the Lair and rescue his friends but Zemo stops him and told him that they are the distraction for them to manage to insert the key in there, they should stay there.
At that moment, Zemo is hit in the head by one of the enemies and ends up unconscious. The team needs a new leader, but Steve does not dare to take the mantle after the disappearance of the Avengers. Bucky is the one who must take up the mantle of leader...
Wanda knows something is wrong, and takes a few steps away from Vision. The classical music fades out. Vision tries to get closer but Wanda won't let him with her powers. She explains to him and understands that she is not from that Universe and he is not the Vision she loved.
Vision couldn't handle this and unleashed a battle against Wanda out of anger. And, as much as it hurt, Wanda was to get the Mind Stone and kill Vision to save humanity, as she did before. Although this time, Vision would not be willing to sacrifice himself to give it to her.
