Chapter 9

Later that evening each of the kids, besides Spencer had left Aarons room, Spencer was still clutching at aarons side half conscious, with a fever that refused to go down. He had slept through the vast majority of the movie and had to get up to vomit once, however he seemed in better spirits after spending some time with his siblings.

Aaron had been periodically checking the boy's temperature and was becoming increasingly worried that it refused to budge even after several doses of medicine. He wasnt entirely sure what to do in this situation Dave was the one that usually handled this kind of stuff.

Thankfully, Dave appeared just moments later. He had just warded off the swarm of children that had ran to him after opening the front door, and was now making his way upstairs to find his husband and the one child he hadnt seen already.

"Hey" Dave says, strolling into their bedroom. He dropps his go-bag onto the chair in the corner of the room and walks over kissing his husband on the forehead.

"Hey" Aaron whispers back.

"What happened to our little genius?" he asks, nodding at the now passed out boy, who's curled up into the fetal position clutching his stuffed turtle.

Aaron nods to the door, and slowly gets up trying his best not to disturb the little boy asleep in his bed. They walk down to the kitchen and sit down at the table. The look of deep worry on Aarons face was enough for Dave to panic.

"That bad, huh?" he says.

"Yeah" Aaron replies. "He's pretty sick dave, and hes not getting any better i dont know what else i can do".

"Okay, start from the beginning, tell me how it started".

Aaron explained the events of the previous night, and the look of worry on Daves face only worsened.

"I know the kid gets sick a lot, but its never been this bad" he says, after a moments silence.

"I'm worried about Dave, I think we should take him to the hospital," Aaron says.

"Yeah, yeah i think that would be best" Dave replies.

They both stood up and embraced each other in a warm hug, neither man wanting to let go. They both went and checked on their still asleep youngest, whos temperature had infact risen again. A large rash had appeared across his stomach and chest and it was seeping out onto his neck, becoming more and more noticeable. The boy began to toss and turn in his sleep, obviously uncomfortable before slowly awakening to see two concerned parents looking over him.

"Papa, your home" the young boy squeaks, voice still rough from sleep.

"Hey buddy, how are you feeling?". He replies.

"Yucky", the young boy states.

"That's okay, i'm gonna take you to see the doctors and see if we can get you some special medicine to make you feel better okay?".

"Okay" he replies, his face flushed red, but eyes drooping shut.

The lack of reluctance to even see a doctor was once again concerning for both Aaron and Dave. Spencer never enjoyed going to the doctor, for reasons neither man could understand. They had battles with him to even get his yearly shots, and he was always one for refusing to even see a doctor when he really needed it.

Dave bundled the young boy in a blanket and picked him up, his head resting on his fathers shoulder. He carried the boy out to the car, where he gently placed him into his carseat. Aaron came out behind them and placed a small bag with some essentials like snacks and a change of clothes for the both of them, along with Spencer's favourite stuffed toy. He kissed his husband on the cheek before leaning in to kiss his son on the forehead.

"Love you buddy, bye" he said as he closed the car door.

"Bye daddy" came the quiet response.

"He's gonna be fine, please try to get some sleep" Dave said as he approached the driver side.

"I know, you know i just worry" Aaron mumbled.

"I know you do" he said, before kissing his husband again, "this is our kid we are allowed to worry, but hes gonna be fine".

"Okay"

"Okay"

They kissed again before shutting the car door and dave headed off to the hospital, leaving behind Aaron to deal with the other 4 kids.
