Chapter 11: Rigmor

Espen had officially lost it.

Unfortunately, he has lost it so much so that he dragged another poor soul into this mess, an Imperial woman with long medium brown hair that was in a braid and golden eyes, he had also come up with a great idea that even though Martin is quite literally surrounded by the Blades, the organization that to swore to protect those with the blood of the Dragonborn in their veins, he wants me to stay here in Cloud Ruler Temple and protect Martin. What's worse for the Imperial woman, who is named Rigmor of Cyrodiil, he hasn't paid her as well though she was making how displeased she was known.

Martin and I both sat in the library drinking tea as we watched the two argue. "You don't just grab random mercenaries and offer them a job and not expect them to demand pay!" She argued. "I'll pay you later, besides you're not the only one not getting paid yet! She's not either!" Espen argued as he pointed at me.

She looked over at me in shock.

"And you're fine with this?!" She demanded. "I assure you I'm nowhere near alright with being forced to work for free till he deems it's time to pay up, however…I've decided the longer he doesn't pay the higher my rate will be." I assured her as I shot a withering look at the Imperial who looked at me in horror. "That's not fair!" He balked. "It is considering the job is very hazardous, also I never informed you if there were any late fees. I suppose that's what happens when you decide to agree to something without hearing the terms." I said smugly as Martin rose from his seat. "As entertaining, it is to watch you finally get what for by these ladies I need to speak to Jaufre." Martin announced.

I started to get up but Martin placed a gentle hand on my shoulder. "You don't need to follow me, especially since you shouldn't have to be my bodyguard." He informed me as he shot Espen a withering look, no doubt not happy about having another bodyguard looming over his shoulder. I nodded, having no qualms about not having to follow him around. Besides I wanted to do some research on the amulet I found on that cultist.

"You wouldn't understand why I did that, Martin!" Espen argued as he ran after the tired uncrowned emperor, leaving me and Rigmor alone in the library.

"So what did lunatic there use to convince you to join him?" She asked me. I looked over at her and sighed. "Let's see he just wordlessly hired me without informing me and demanded I follow him and I was naive to follow after him, therefore being trapped into employment with him." I explained as she took a sip from her tankard of beer though she nearly choked on it. "You've got to be kidding me! Is that some sort of tactic of his or something? Because he did the same damn thing to me!" She choked out.

I sighed heavily and shook my head. "Well, I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who fell for that trick." I grumbled. "I was also five tankards in, so I wasn't in the right frame of mind to think clearly." She admitted. "I was unfortunately sober, so I am a damn naive fool." I sighed. She chuckled and patted my back.

"You're young and eager, it's understandable. I remember when I first became a mercenary I was eager to jump at every job that came my way. Just give it a few more years and you'll learn the ropes." She assured me.

"Like don't get drunk while looking for employment?" I teased. She snickered and nudged me. "Something like that." She chuckled then looked at me curiously. "I heard you know a lot about daedra and you and the cultists we're dealing with have a bit of bad blood." She told me. I groaned and pinched the bridge of my nose. "Glad to know who to talk to when I need word spread like wildfire." I grumbled under my breath then looked over at her. "I know enough to stay alive when it comes to daedra, thanks to my mentors." I confessed.

"Were you a cultist then?" She asked. I snorted at her question. "Far from it. I'm not exactly into the whole, 'oh praise my beloved master or mistress, lemme help you sow chaos all over Tamriel.' kind of thing." I assured her. Ironic considering the Hrives were devout followers of Molog Bal...one of the reasons why I do have vampiric blood running in my veins.

She nodded and looked at me curiously. "So what's with you and Martin? From what I can tell since I got here you two always seem to be by each other's side." She told me as I sipped my tea, causing me to choke on it. "W-What?! Martin and I are just acquaintances, and thanks to our galning boss until Martin gets this addressed with Jauffre I'm now his bodyguard." I explained as she snickered at my flustered reaction. "Sorry, I just wanted to get an understanding of everyone's view of each other." She laughed. "Could have a least wait till I had finished sipping my bloody damn tea." I grumbled.

Author's Note: I do not own Rigmor of Cyrodiil. She belongs to the creator of the Skyrim Mod series involving Rigmor of Bruma. I love the characters from the series and since it worked with my headcanon for my Dragonborn…we're adding them in! If you want a link to the mod from Nexus I'll be happy to shoot a link via PM to the mod author's page so you can check out his mods!
