Who was that? Another hero? They didn't know that one...South Park contemplated the newcomer with great confusion and expectation.
"Look at you...Using your powers to play superheroes..."
"...Is that...?" Lola muttered.
A man made his way through the crowd. Father Maxi looked up with worry.
Bebe gave Wendy gentle slaps in her face. "Wake up, Wendy, wake up, things are going to get ugly in here...!"
"You don't know what real power is. You wouldn't know what to do with it." Butters continued.
"...Butters?" Tweek's eyes opened wide.
Butters Stotch? But wasn't he kidnapped by those who killed his parents? The town was startled. There was something in the way he presented himself, his look, that made them feel uneasy.
"That was my former name, back when I was a stupid child with a stupid family who held me back and stupid ideas about good and evil and compassion." Butters smiled showing his teeth. "We got these abilities for no reason. You comfort yourselves with the idea that a higher power gave them to you to do good with it. You act like you can use them to put order in the world! But chaos always prevails..."
"Do you show up after all of this time to give us a lecture?" Craig said, his arms crossed with impatience.
"You're right, no more talking." Butters replied, and with that he raised his hand and produced bolts that got to strike several people.
"Move back, move back!" Barbrady pushed the people away.
Karen didn't obey. She broke the human barrier to run towards the people who were lying on the ground. She checked the pulse of a man and found his heart had stopped and he was not breathing. There was no time to lose so right there, she performed a CPR.
"Come on, come on, we need Call Girl!" Gerald said, and he used his social media to praise someone, not to troll, for once. He deleted all those ugly posts about Wendy and contributed to the new hashtag: #LongLiveCallGirl. In his lips was a persistent mutter too, as he raised his eyes to the sky from time to time: "Kyle...Where are you Kyle?"
"Come on, that's it, give all likes and reblogs you can!" Bebe said, putting all of her social media to work as well.
"Pfft, of course, the only female in the team has to be the weakest one." River complained, her arms crossed.
Someone was doubting her...Wendy could hear it...She would show them...
"Come on, honey, you can do this!" Mrs. Testaburger squeezed her hand. Wendy felt it and squeezed it back softly.
The police quickly brought a couple of spotlights to light up the place.
"Freedom Pals, you have to stop him!" Mayor McDaniels approached the heroes.
"Yeah, sorry, but we're illegal. We're not going to jail." Craig looked at his nails.
The Mayor let out an exclamation. "All right, you have full permission to kick ass! Now hurry!"
"Nice!" Jimmy exclaimed, and was the first to dash towards Butters.
"And I think you owe us an apology." Craig added, looking at the Mayor from the corner of his eye, not moving.
"Do you want me to suck your dick too?!" The Mayor replied.
"Come on, Craig, that's enough." Tweek pulled his husband's collar.
Thanks to his great speed, Jimmy ran up the facade and hit Butters with his crutch. But as soon as he touched him, he was propelled backwards.
"You know what's a real joke? You are!" Butters laughed.
"I need sugar!" Scott exclaimed, looking around.
"Hurry, Captain Diabetes needs sugar!" Mr. Mackey shouted.
Randy broke the window of the candy store with his fist and grabbed all the merchandise he could to quickly deliver it to Scott. He put it in his mouth immediately and started to muscle up.
"How much of that candy was produced in a vegan, sustainable way? I seriously doubt any." Emory frowned.
"Also, it is so insensitive to other diabetics who can't, you know, transform into a super cool superhero with superstrength." Bailey shook his head.
When Scott was finished, he let out a deep roar and climbed up the building. 'He looks kind of hot when he turns', a woman muttered.
"All right, he obviously doesn't come in peace! Let's get him!" Clyde said, and flew.
Wendy, fueled by her loved one's efforts, started to get up. Ike, at the hospital, did his part, buying bots to follow, fave and comment about her, turning her into a very powerful trending topic. She finally stood up, grabbed her selfie stick and climbed the building towards Butters with a loud cheer from everyone.
"Go, Wendy! Wooo!" Her friends shouted so much they almost seemed like her cheerleaders, Bebe leading them.
"Okay, Butters, I don't know what you think you're doing, but that's enough." She said, approaching him.
"It's seven against one." Token teleported on the roof along with his partners. "Numbers are against you."
But Butters smirked. "You are just like my parents. You underestimate me..."
The Freedom Pals pounced on him all at once but didn't get to touch him. A blast wave sent them all to the ground. Jimmy, surely, was the first to get up, and attacked with a series of supersonic kicks. Butters protected himself using his arms as a shield, then seemed to hit the air. Jimmy stopped and stumbled, grabbing his face, feeling a sudden confusion. He was going to be hit when Token teleported between them and punched Butters. He fell to the ground and Craig approached to crush his spine with his boots. There was a flash of light and all of them were thrown several feet away. Butters stood up, shaking the dirt off his cape.
"...And just like my parents, I'll have to teach you what you're messing with..." He finished.
A gasp shook the crowd watching.
"He killed Linda and Stephen?" Roger Donovan exclaimed.
"Oh, no, it can't be true!" Laura Tucker placed her hands on her cheeks, horrified.
"That's what you get from playing with electricity." Butters let out a cruel laughter and sent a lightning to his neighbors.
It did not impact on anyone this time, but on a hydrant, which exploded after the impact. The burst of water sprayed everyone around.
"LOOK OUT!" Wendy screamed, guessing what Butters intended to do next. Timmy, understanding, made a great effort to create a mental push, to make those who were still in the same place get out of the way. Both of them managed to make the people move away from the pool of water at their feet before it happened exactly what Wendy was warning them about; Butters sent a new bolt to the pool, to use water's conductivity to fry all that people. David managed to avoid it by a lucky jump.
Another flash of light and Butters was right behind Timmy. He punished him first for ruining his fun. He grabbed his chair and turned it into an electric chair. Timmy started screaming, his body spasmed—his legs, normally just a useless decoration, started shaking like a wild dance. The chair then went crazy due to that charge overload, and shot off backwards, into the abyss.
"Shit!" Clyde exclaimed, and ran faster than ever in his life to catch up with it.
A collective scream echoed when Timmy fell. Clyde jumped after him and darted towards him. He got to grab him before the chair smashed against the pavement.
Bebe felt her chest was going to explode due to the excitement. Wow, Clyde was so cool!
"You okay, man?" Clyde asked his friend as they ascended.
["No, now I'm really crippled."] Timmy replied.
"Let's make him pay for that."
["Yeah, this asshole owes me a new chair."]
Clyde left Timmy sitting on the floor and raised both his arms. All the people started to hear a loud zoom. Being nighttime, it was not easy to see it at first glance, but when it met the spotlights, they could see a massive swarm of mosquitoes flying towards Butters. 'I didn't know he could do that!', someone exclaimed, clapping. Clyde flew with his army towards Butters, his proboscises ready to stab his body and consume his blood. But it was like mosquitoes flying towards a bug zapper. Clyde fell on his back and Butters put his boot on his ribcage, threatening to crush it.
He turned his head, though, when the floor started to tremble. On one side was Scott running towards him, with his big fist prepared to hit him. On the other, Craig, smaller but undoubtedly as capable of destroying him with a punch as his partner. They were going to perform what Jimmy mentally named as 'Knuckle Sandwich' (or maybe the 'Crushing Wall'?). No matter the name: Butters still extended both arms towards each of them and created rays that pushed them away from him.
Scott fell on his back and let out a complain. Craig's heart stopped.
"Craig! Dude!" Token grabbed Craig and shook him, trying to get a reaction.
Butters let out a laughter that was stuck in his throat when a bolt impacted against his helmet, knocking it down. Tweek was all full of sparkled and had never looked more furious.
"DON'T TOUCH MY CRAIG!" He yelled.
"They are so gay..." His father, below, smiled tenderly.
Harper shook his head with disapproval, even though he was always up for LGBT representation. "The bury your gays trope? Seriously?" He muttered.
"My heart stops for a second and you want to bury me already?" Craig frowned in Token's arms.
Tweek started throwing Butters bolt after bolt, ice block after ice block, even both combined. One of them impacted Butter's head and made a thread of blood run down his face. Despite everything, he still wanted to laugh.
"You are not like me. You will never be even near me. You don't have what it takes to use the power of electricity to its last consequences..."
"Fuck you! I have more than enough to kill you!" Tweek replied.
He threw a lightning at the same time as Butters. Both attacks collided, illuminating the street with no need for artificial lights. Tweek felt he was being pushed backwards, but he was full of rage and was going to stop at nothing, so he ignored the pain of it all and focused on destroying the one who had dared to hurt the love of his life.
It was the moment to attack. Wendy ran towards Butters and with an aerial cartwheel she hit him with the selfie stick so hard it broke in half. Butters let out a complaint and fell on his knees. His ray seemed to lose power over Tweek's; he approached to add pressure. Wendy picked up the pieces of her stick and used them as clubs to keep hitting him. Blood started to flow out of Butter's nose.
"They could have handled this without using violence." Riley commented.
"Will you shut up already?" A woman complained. "If you're not gonna move your asses, let others work without bitching about it, God damn it!"
It was the moment for all of them to attack. Craig was ready to smash his skull into smithereens after the hard time he had given him; Scott had his muscles ready to do the same. Token started to spin, creating a tornado. Jimmy warmed up his legs to run him over. Timmy placed his finger on his forehead, ready to have access to his brain and screw it. Clyde prepared his hungry proboscises and his wings.
They pounced on Butters. However...
"You can't handle the chaos!" He shouted.
The whole town probably shook.
There was an explosion, that was all the people could see from down there. They saw Wendy falling, managing to get hold on a streetlamp in the last minute. Jimmy fell to the pavement but thanks to his speed manage to fall in the adequate posture not to break his head. Token found himself lying on his stomach, leaning towards the abyss.
Pieces of rubble fell from the building. The civilians screamed and got out of the way. PC Principal grabbed Bailey and River and ran with them in his arms. Strong Woman took Riley and Emory's hands and dragged them out of danger. They looked at each other, then at their children.
It was then when they saw Harper was missing. And they found him at the mercy of the falling debris.
Token heard his ex-principal and vice-principal scream and run to get the boy, but they wouldn't reach him on time, he saw they wouldn't. His whole body ached but made an effort to teleport himself down there, grabbed the boy and vanished from there milliseconds before they were crushed.
"Hey, it's okay, kid, it's all right." He consoled the child, who was sobbing, terrified, in his arms.
"Harper!" Strong Woman exclaimed, running to hug her son.
"Harper, oh, goodness!" PC Principal also wanted to run and hug him, but everyone was looking at them and they had a secret to keep, so he had to stop and just conceal what he was feeling until the attention went back to the fight.
The PC children hugged their brother, trembling, terrified about the idea of how close they had been to losing him. Harper turned his head to Token, white like a sheet of paper.
"You...saved me...After all we did to you and your friends?"
"You were in danger and that was enough for me." Token replied, standing up.
"You could have left me there..."
"I still think you're a bunch of brats, but that doesn't mean I want you erased. That's tolerance." His friends needed him and he had nothing left to do there, so he teleported back to the roof, leaving the PC children meditating.
It was extremely difficult and embarrassing for a PC child to admit they were wrong, but they had this feeling inside which told them they hadn't done right...
Back to the roof, the first thing Token did was help Clyde stand up—one of his wings had a shape he didn't like at all. Tweek had fainted. Jimmy had ran back to the roof and gave a helping hand to Craig. Scott helped Wendy climb. Timmy removed the rubble he was buried in.
And in the middle of that desolation was Butters, panting. He got up from the floor. He seemed to have some energy left to chuckle.
"Is that all you can do? You chose the lamest saviors, South Park..."
He turned towards the edge, his arms filled with sparkles.
"Time to turn this trash town into rubble..."
Stuart grabbed Karen, who was trying to heal those who had been affected by the collapse. Some screamed, seeing him approach, about to attack.
Jimmy grabbed Butters and dragged him backwards.
"You never give u-u-up, do you?" He grunted.
"Look at Jimmy..." Sarah said to her husband, her hand on her chest and a smile on her face.
"Maybe he was not a punishment from God after all..." Ryan wrapped and arm around her to smile with her.
"We won't, either!" Wendy said, and prepared a very long wire as a whip.
Butters turned his head to the others. Scott was making his knuckles crack. He was feeling Timmy trying to get into his mind. Craig took Tweek's hand and helped him stand up to walk towards him, the two of them together. On the way, Tweek healed Clyde's wing and he licked his lips as he ascended. Token clenched his fists.
They wouldn't stop. They wouldn't stop until they were dead or he was defeated. And he was starting to feel tired. What he had done was enough for the day.
He drew a smile once again.
"That will get you killed one day."
They were blinded by a bright light and when they were able to see again, Jimmy's arms were empty. They looked around, alarmed. Then, a voice echoed from the building in front.
"You won't protect this town eternally! Professor Chaos will catch up with you! One day all of you will fall and South Park will be mine to destroy it!"
Butters covered himself with his cape and disappeared in the dark of the night.
"Fuck, he escaped!"
"But he got a good ass whipping!"
"Yeah, he's running away because he was about to be defeated!"
"Great job, Freedom Pals!"
A cheer filled the air. People started clapping and wooing. Hearing that after what they had been through made the heroes feel such a relief, such happiness...
Only one person didn't participate in the shared joy. Maxi gazed into the direction where Butters had escaped, feeling a lump in his throat.
"So long, my son...May Heaven bless you..." He thought, and prayed for God to have mercy on the poor boy.
