Lois stalked back to the farmhouse from the tents where the DoD had set up their war room. The stairs creaked underneath the weight of her steps as if they could feel some of the pressure the woman was hiding underneath her cool expression. Her shoulders dropped just an inch as she closed the door behind her.

"Did you find anything?" Jonathon stood up from his position wringing his hands on the living room couch. He and Clark had been waiting in the house, Clark was trying to focus more on his hearing to detect anything to might point them toward their son. Lois could see the fatigue on his face from attempting to concentrate on so many different things at once.

"We think we have the location where Edge has been possessing the humans." Lois scooped Jonathan into a quick hug, them both needing it. "The DoD's storming it today. They'll call in Superman when they do. There's a chance he's there."

Jonathan could hear the doubt in her voice.

"You don't think he's there, though?" The teen's face dropped.

"I don't know…but Edge must have multiple places between creating the Kryptonians and finding places for them to meet and plan…I just don't know."

"What if Jordan's not there?"

Clark and Lois automatically share a look. They hadn't had a single moment to share their joint terror together and they probably wouldn't until they could bring Jordan home. Despite all of the times they had faced danger together, this was very different. It was a terror they couldn't even compare to the past.

"Then we keep looking." Clark nods his head. "Hopefully, we find him or we find Edge to lead us to him."

"What do we do now that Edge knows…" Jonathan glances over his shoulder unconsciously. "the Superman thing? Is he going to tell other people? Has this happened before?"

Clark tried not to show the horror he felt as his son seemed to finally fully realize the danger this secret held over their family. He tried to come up with the words to comfort Jon from that truth.

"No, this hadn't happened before." Lois finally started slowly, putting her hand on Jonathan's arm. "Your father and I don't know exactly what's going to happen from here but we're going to figure it out."

Jonathan looked down, the frustration at being able to do nothing clouding his expression. They didn't even know why Jordan had been taken: to get to his dad, for his own abilities, or so he could be used as another puppet for a dead Kryptonian. Or something else entirely.

"Those military guys outside are more interested in the possessed humans than finding Jordan." Jonathan finally says, his tone flat. He felt guilty that he's angry about the DoD focusing on the Kryptonian bad guys instead of his brother. Then, he felt guilty that he felts guilty about wanting to find his twin instead of helping the people Edge hurt. Then, he just feels useless.

"We know your grandfather will do anything for his grandchildren." Clark tries to reassure Jordan, placing a hand on Lois' shoulder and squeezing it lightly. "But he does have to think about Morgan Edge's, or Tal-Ro's, or whoever's plan too. We all do. Any step closer to him, is a step closer to Jord-."

Clark's head whips around like he was just struck by an invisible force.

"He just set off his ELT." Clark spins toward Lois and the mother's expression hardens again.

"Go." She says. "I'll tell my father."

Clark pulls Jonathan into a quick embrace, hoping his eyes conveyed how proud he was of how his son was handling this.

"Be careful." Clark hears Lois say as he speeds out of the house.

Clark landed on the orange sand with a boom, the rock beneath him cracking into a spider's web. He has always responded to ELT signals quickly, but this entrance was fast even for him.

The dark, caped figure of Morgan Edge stands about 20 yards away from his spot, not flinching. He slowly lifts his hand from the ELT button, studying it curiously like a new toy.

"Where. Is. He." Clark stalks forward, just barely holding himself back from his son's captors.

"Oh come brother, I don't know why you're in such a huff."

"You can't blackmail me into joining you."

"I can't?" Edge crosses his arms.

Clark's face darkens and Edge drops his cool facade.

"You wound me brother. I am not here to blackmail you. Necessarily"

"He's just a boy"

"Oh, Kal-El." Edge chuckles. He glances to the side as if looking at something unseen to Clark's eye. "He is much more than that."

Clark stiffens. He had been hoping it was just some coincidence Jordan had been taken as much as Lois and common sense told him otherwise.

"If your strategy for dealing with the boy was to keep his capabilities secret, you really should have done a better job. I'm helping him. Just like I have been trying to help you."

"We don't want your help."

"So young Jordan has made clear." Edge smiled as Clark's eyes flashed red at the mention of his son."Ah, yes, we had a long conversation just not too long ago. He's quite a troubled boy, isn't he? And still so human to my complete disappointment. That's going to be a problem to solve. Luckily, I'm here at the right time. You know, I was rather close to his age myself when I escaped my original Earthly captors and went through a rather extreme transform-"

"You may not agree with my decisions, but you have no right to take my son." Clark interrupts him sharply, attempting to ignore the other Kryptonian's ploys to anger him. Clark takes a breath, internally figuring how to reason with the person in front of him. There had to be something he wanted, something that would defuse this situation. "Tell me where he is right now and I can protect you from the military."

Edge scoffs.

"And myself." Clark steps a step closer to his brother, feeling his options being limited.

"Just for curiosities sake. What if I was here to blackmail you?" Edge started, his eyes looking like he was about to begin some grand joke. "You help me with reviving a few more of our people. We can even choose some more low life of the Smallville-ers if you wish. The criminal and such. Then, I return the boy."

Clark didn't trust a word Edge was saying, but he involuntarily lets the imagine of that pass through his mind. Meeting his people, relatives, and beings he would never have to be weary around. But the picture of the human lives that were possessed and buried within that machine were also clear in his mind.

"No. I wouldn't" He said, his voice low.

"Just one, then?" Edge raised an eyebrow. "What if I said you helping me reanimate just one Kryptonian, just one tiny human life in exchange, would secure your son's safety: the safety of the El heir and shining light of hope."

Clark was silent and Edge sighed.

"You really have betrayed your own." Edge shakes his head. "It's a good thing I see other purposes for my nephew as well."

"What does that mean? What do you want from him?"

"The same thing I wanted from you." Edge's voice rose and he sneered. "Although, I see much better chances with him. He is still young and unstable. Easier to mold."

"I won't let you leave here." Clark growled. Tal-Ro knew Clark's greatest fears now and he was happy to play with them. "Jordan will never join you. We will find a way to reverse what you've done to the possessed humans. Your plan will fail."

"If there is a single drop of Kryptonian blood left and willing to see my vision through, my plan will always remain alive and well." Edge practically hissed then looked up to the sun. When he turned back, his face didn't even attempt to hide the disdain and disappointment he has in the person in front of him. "And Kal-El…I'm going to make you suffer for your betrayal. First your planet. Then, the people you rejected me for, this little human family you've created so-"

Clark roared and threw himself forward, shooting off the ground toward his brother.

Then passed right through the Kryptonian hologram.

Clark spun around in horror as the hologram flickered then disappeared. The metal disk underneath where Edge had stood was suddenly apparent as sand blew in circles around it.

Clark's chest tightened worse than it had ever felt from the Kryptonite. It was like every one of his worst fears was coming to light right in front of him. He had failed his family and let a madman take his son. He had failed his planet and allowed the creation of an unknown amount of Kryptonian possessed humans.

The father had been scared every day of being able to protect and teach his sons if the day ever came that they would develop his powers. He swore he would be there for them.

The sun pounded down on him as Clark picked up the hologram device from the ground.

Stopping Edge's original plan had already proven to be barely possible. Sam Lane was spearheading a mission now to the location they believed the possession machines were being held. Not that Clark gave that bit of information away to Edge.

As much as they needed to stop Edge, the worry was still gnawing at his bones at what his brother would do to Jordan if his plan did start to unravel. And if it would be any worse than what he's already planning to do to his son now.

They had to find Jordan. Soon.
