It was past midnight but all of edmonds' energy was focused on keeping spencer alive.

As they prepped his for the surgery, he sat just by his head, his hands placed either side of his head to keep it still for the time being.

"you gotta beat this, kiddo," he whispered. "ever since i met you, all you've done is fight tooth and nail to beat the cancer. You gotta keep fighting just like you've been doing"

Hearing valastro call that he was ready for the surgery to begin, edmonds rose from his stool, moving it out of the way as he headed for the theatre doors. He turned back at the last second, watching as the ventilator hissed continuously, as they pumped the anaesthesia into his system to keep his sedated.

Taking a deep breath, he walked out through the doors. Spencer was in good hands. Now he just had to fight like hell.

Edmonds watched on, his breath caught in his throat as he pressed a hand to the glass. He 'd grown very fond of spencer since september. He was a lively kid even at his worst, and he had never failed to make him laugh in some way or another.

He had to pull through. He wasn't going to let his be yet another statistic.

"heart rate's coming back," one of the nurses called.

Letting out the breath he 'd been holding, he sank back onto his seat. This kid had so much fight in his, it honestly amazed him. All those kids did.

Hearing valastro's voice, edmonds looked up.

"good boy, spencer. You're quite the fighter, kiddo. Keep fighting, ok?" valastro said softly to his patient, looking up at his vital screens. "you're doing brilliantly, kiddo"

Smiling, edmonds took a deep breath.

It looked like he would at least have some good news to give dave and aaron.
