Beck never saw himself getting divorced in his early thirties. He never saw himself getting divorced at all, but he figured heaven forbid it ever did happen...he would be older.
It had been a tough decision, but ultimately in the end Beck had been the one to made it. He and Bianca had both cried, but they knew that in the end it was going to be best for both of them. They had gotten married very young, before either of them really had any idea what they wanted out of life. Although they love each other, they know that staying together would involve one of them making unfair sacrifices in order for the other live the life that they really want.
They decide to sell the house and split the profits. Bianca moves to a condo downtown, while Beck opts for a house in the Hollywood Hills. It's far too much space for one person, but the gated community offers him a bit of privacy and has a yard for Stella to run in. It hadn't taken long for news of his divorce to become public, and the tabloids had quickly dubbed him 'Hollywood's Most Eligible Bachelor'. He hated it. It's bad enough to go through a divorce, but going through a divorce in the public eye is even worse.
The months that follow are some of the hardest of Beck's life. Trying to date is next to impossible for someone like him, given his fame. Dating apps are a no-go, and he can't be sure if anyone he meets in real life is genuinely interested in him...or interested in being famous by association. He wants to find a woman who loves him for who he is without the glamor, and it's hard to know if anyone is genuine at all.
He also watches Tori and Andre welcome their second child, another boy named Cruz Cobain Harris. While Beck is happy for his friends, and absolutely adores his new nephew, he can't help but feel a bit jealous. He wants nothing more than to be a father, nothing more than to watch a child of his own adapt to a new sibling as well as Hendrix does. His heart still breaks over not being able to start a family with Bianca...and after a while it all starts to feel a bit hopeless.
"I told you, man..." Andre tries his best to assure his friend "Having kids isn't something you can half-ass, you want to make sure you do it with the right person."
"I know..." Beck nods, taking a sip of his beer "I just...I thought I had found her, you know? I haven't been able to find anyone like her since."
"You will. Just give it time."
"Easy for you to say, you found Tori pretty quickly."
"Took me a while to ask her out, though." Andre reminds him "Maybe you've already met the person you're meant to spend the rest of your life with...have kids with...you just haven't realized the connection is there yet."
"Maybe..." Beck shrugs "But I doubt it."
"Oh my god..." Jade gasps as Cat sits down on the couch beside her "Oh my god, look at her."
The past few months had brought quite a few changes for Cat and Robbie as well. They both knew that they wanted to have children one day, but that they didn't want to wait too long to do it so that they could actually enjoy being parents while they were still young enough to do so. Cat, however, didn't want to make any sacrifices in the name of her career. She loves touring and performing for her fans, and stopping to have a baby would have most likely prevented her from doing so for a rather extended amount of time. So, she and Robbie decided that adoption would be the best course of action for them. Within two months of filling out an application, the agency they chose was able to match them with an expecting mother...and now Cat is sitting beside her best friend holding her daughter. They recognize how lucky they are, knowing that some couples wait years before they're able to adopt.
"So little..." Harper, now two and a half, remarks
"You were that little once, you know." Jade smirks down at her own daughter
"I was?"
"You were." Cat nods
The relationship between Andrew and Jade is still rocky. Despite Drew approaching eighteen months old now, and no longer needing to be breastfed at all, Andrew has expressed no interest in taking both of his children overnight for just one night, let alone a whole weekend. He is always eager to spend time with his son, but Jade feels like she's pulling teeth to get him to take any interest Harper. Only now it's more painful, because Harper is beginning to notice the discrepancy. Disappointment always crosses her small face when her father immediately diverts all of his attention to her brother when Jade drops them off every Wednesday afternoon.
"What's her name?" Jade asks quietly, careful not to wake the sleeping newborn
"Ladies, I would like to formally introduce you to Leah Sloane Valentine-Shapiro." Cat smiles
"Hi Leah..." Jade grins
"Hi Leah." Harper repeats after her mother, craning her neck to get a better look
"Hi guys." Robbie greets them, entering the living room
"Hi." Jade smiles before turning back to Cat, then does a double-take "Wait."
Robbie and Cat are both holding babies, both wearing pink hats and wrapped in pink swaddling blankets.
"Two babies?" Harper exclaims
"Two babies." Robbie nods, sitting down on the opposite side of Jade from Cat "Twin girls."
"Oh my god, I can't believe you two!" Jade laughs "Did you know they were twins?"
"We did." Cat nods with a smile "It was the hardest secret I've ever had to keep. But everything about the adoption process was planned out for us, we wanted to leave something as a surprise for someone."
"What's her name?" Harper asks, looking over to the baby in Robbie's arms "Leah too?"
"No..." Robbie chuckles "Cat, you can tell them."
"Natalie." Cat grins "Natalie Jade."
"Really?"
"Hey!" Harper perks up "Mama's grown-up name is Jade!"
"I don't know what to say..." Jade admits
"You don't have to say anything." Cat tells her "I think you and I are long past that point."
"You're right."
"Do you want to hold her?" Robbie asks
"Of course I do." Jade nods, helping Harper slide off of her lap and holding her arms out to take the baby "Hey, Natalie. It's nice to meet you."
"They cute." Harper remarks, standing in front of Jade now and looking from baby to baby "Mama, I want one."
"Uh." Jade almost chokes "We already have one, remember? His name is Drew."
"Drew is a big baby." Harper reminds her "I want little baby."
"They're going to grow, you know." Robbie tells Harper, trying his best to help Jade out of an awkward conversation "Faster than you probably realize."
"Yeah." Jade agrees "They'll be your size before you know it."
"So...no little babies?" Harper asks
"No." Jade chuckles, bouncing Natalie in her arms gently "Not anytime soon at least."
She isn't opposed to having another child one day, but she knows she isn't going to be in the right mindset to date for a very long time. Jade has promised herself that if she ever has any more, she wants to be married first. That way she avoids putting another child through the pain Harper and Drew are undoubtedly going to go through in the coming years because of the relationship between their parents.
"Aw."
"Don't worry, Harper." Cat smirks "You can come over and spend time with these two whenever you want."
"Really?" Harper's face lights up
"Really."
