Not much changes over the course of the next year, but big changes are on the horizon. Netflix renews Cloverfield Isle for a fourth season, and Jade makes the decision, along with the team of writers she had accumulated, that it will be it's last. The show is not hurting for viewers or lacking in popularity, but she feels that dragging it out past a fourth season would compromise the show's authenticity. While everyone involved is disappointed to hear that the show is coming to an end, they also completely trust Jade's judgement and know that she will be able to honor their hard work by giving the show the ending it deserves.

Beck and Jade's relationship continues to grow stronger as time goes on. Many conversations between the two of them have revealed that the issues their relationship once had been caused by simple immaturity. They had been teenagers then, they didn't know how to talk through their problems and communicate their feelings to each other without it turning into an argument. Now as adults with more relationship experience who have matured quite a bit, they're in the best place they've ever been.

"So, is Beck your boyfriend?" Harper asks Jade very nonchalantly one morning while they're eating breakfast

"Uh..." Jade hesitates "Yes, he is."

This hadn't been how she planned on telling them, but there's no use in lying to them at this point.

"What's a boyfriend?" Drew asks

"You know how Dad has Sydney?" Harper says to him

"Yeah."

"Mom has Beck." Harper shrugs "Right Mom?"

"I guess that's a very simple way of looking at things, yes." Jade agrees "Are you guys...okay with me having a boyfriend?"

"Uh huh."

"Yeah."

"Alright, good." Jade smiles

"Does this mean Beck is going to live with us?" Drew asks, a hopeful tone in his voice

"I'm not sure." Jade chuckles "We haven't really discussed it yet."

In all honesty, the thought hadn't really crossed her mind. Obviously things with Beck were going well, and that would be the next logical step to take in their relationship...but she isn't sure if relationship timelines still look the same when one of the individuals has children.

"Well, you should s'cuss it." Drew tells her

"Alright, when we do I'll let you know."

Little does Jade know, however, the thought had very much crossed Beck's mind. His mind had gone even further, actually.

"What do you think?" He asks, holding the ring box open for Andre to look at

"Woah..." Andre chuckles "That's quite the rock."

The diamond itself is four karats, round cut, and mounted on a silver band encrusted with several smaller diamonds. Beck had designed it himself, and had even gone as far to look up old paparazzi pictures of Jade and Andrew to make sure that his ring looked nothing like the one Andrew had given to her.

"S'not that big." Beck laughs

"S'bigger than Tori's." Andre admits "Don't...tell either one of them that."

"I won't." Beck assures him

"So when are you going to ask her?" Andre inquires "Soon?"

"Depends on what you mean on 'soon'..." Beck shrugs "I was thinking of doing it as soon as we wrap the show...which is still a while away...but by that point we will have been back together for two years. And we'll be able to actually enjoy being engaged without still having to worry about work."

"Have you talked to her about having more kids...?"

Bianca not wanting to have kids in any way had been the reason she and Beck got divorced, and Andre knows that kids are most likely still on Beck's mind. Sure, Jade had been open to having kids at one point because she already has two, but that doesn't mean she is going to want to have any more. The last thing he wants is for his friend to get himself too far into anything only to find out it isn't what he had hoped for.

"No." Beck answers him truthfully "But I don't feel like I need to."

"Dude, you can't assume..."

"I'm not assuming." Beck admits "I mean...I think the thing that was bothering me so much was the absence of children in my life. Sure, I loved being Uncle Beck to your kids...but I needed something more than that. The relationship I have with Harper and Drew, well...it's enough. They're not my own, but I love them like they are. If the timing is right and Jade and I decide to have another baby, then that'll be great. But if all I ever am is Harper and Drew's step-dad...that's okay too."

"That's great, man." Andre smiles "Really it is. I'm glad you finally got what you were looking for."

"Funny thing is I didn't know this is what I wanted." Beck shrugs "I guess it was just...well, I guess it was fate."

"No!" Harper exclaims, running into her bedroom and slamming the door

If she's being completely honest, Jade is shocked by her daughter's outburst. Of her two children, Harper has always been the more thoughtful and sensitive one. Both Jade and Andrew tend to be stubborn and outspoken, and there are times that she sees a bit of that in Drew...but not Harper. Hell, if Harper didn't look just like Andrew, Jade might think she had been switched at birth. An emotional outburst like this, screaming and running away, is not like Harper at all.

"Is she okay?" Drew asks

"I think so." Jade tells him "I'm going to go find out though, okay? Can you go put your shoes on so you're all ready to go to your dad's when I come back?"

"Uh huh." Drew nods

"Awesome." Jade smiles a bit, ruffling her son's hair "I'll be right back."

As Jade approaches her daughter's bedroom, she already has a pretty good idea of what the issue is. Shortly after Harper's birthday party the year prior, when she had asked Beck to push her on the swings in front of Andrew, Jade's ex-fiancé had come to her insisting that he was ready to start taking both children every other weekend. Jade knew it was for all the wrong reasons; he didn't want the time with them, he just didn't want them spending any extra time with Beck. But she wanted to give Andrew the benefit of the doubt, she wanted to at least give him the chance to do the right thing. Based on what Jade can observe, however, his relationship with Harper hasn't improved any. Drew is still his priority...but all of the advice she has gotten has told her that Harper has to be the one to make the choice not to see her dad any more...she can't make that choice for her.

Jade had just told her kids to start getting their things together to go to their dad's for the weekend, and Harper had refused and ran away. Clearly, the kindergartner doesn't want to go with her father...but Jade wants to have a conversation with her, just to be sure. She also wants to give Harper the chance to speak her mind...it might help her feel better.

"Harper...?" Jade says quietly as she knocks on her daughter's bedroom door "It's Mom...can I come in?"

"I don't want to go!" Harper yells from inside

"I know you don't, baby..." Jade sighs "Can I come talk to you about that?"

"Yeah..."

Jade slowly opens the door and enters the room, and is heartbroken by the sight of her daughter laying on her bed with her favorite stuffed animal clutched to her chest. She looks sad, which is probably an understatement.

"Hey Bug." Jade sits down on the bed beside her "Why don't you want to go to Dad's?"

"He doesn't like me." Harper huffs "M'not a boy, so he doesn't want to do anything with me."

"How do you know that?"

"Because whenever I ask him to do something, he's always playing with Drew and he says 'not right now, we're doing guy stuff'." Harper explains "I'll do guy stuff with them if they want! I just want him to pay attention to me!"

"I'm so sorry, Harper..."

Jade doesn't know what else she can say. She doesn't want to make excuses for Andrew or make it seem like his behavior is okay, but she also doesn't want to paint him as a villain in their daughter's eyes.

"I don't want to go see him."

"You don't have to."

"Really?" Harper looks surprised "I...I can stay with you?"

"Is that what you want?"

"Yes."

"Then yes, you can stay with me." Jade sighs "I'll...talk to your dad."

Unfortunately, Andrew most likely won't argue with her. He'll probably be relieved to only have Drew, and Jade hates the idea of him getting what he wants by being so immature about the whole thing. She hates the idea of Harper being upset even more though...and her children will always come first.

"Thanks Mom..." Harper sits up and hugs Jade tightly "I love you."

"I love you too..." Jade says, rubbing her daughter's back gently "I'm sorry that your dad makes you feel this way."

"I wish Beck was my dad instead..." Harper mumbles into the fabric of Jade's shirt

"Hm?" Jade hums, even though she had heard what Harper said every clearly

Part of her agrees. She wishes her children had a father who didn't act so childish and immature and who is unable to give them the emotional support that they need. Beck is a great role model for them, and clearly loves them so much even though they're not his. Maybe things would have turned out better if she had stayed with Beck, but she'll never know. One thing she does know, however, is that she would be with Andrew a million times over again if it meant still getting Harper and Drew out of it, because they're the two best things that have ever happened to her.

"Nothing." Harper says quickly "Never mind."

"Alright..." Jade nods "Go put your shoes on."

"You said I didn't have to-"

"We still need to drop Drew off." Jade reminds her "He might be almost four, but he's not old enough to drive himself places yet."

"Okay..." Harper laughs, hopping off of her bed "But...I don't have to stay?"

"No." Jade shakes her head "I promise."
