"She really said that?" Beck asks, one arm draped across his forehead while the other is wrapped protectively around Jade's waist, holding her close as they both lay on the couch
The original plan had been for Jade to drop Harper and Drew off with their dad, and then go directly to Beck's to spend the weekend. They had to film on Saturday for most of the day, but would have Friday and Saturday evening and then part of the day Sunday to themselves. However, that plan needed to change once Harper refused to go to Andrew's, so now Beck will be spending the weekend at Jade's instead. Still some alone time for them, but not as much as they had originally intended.
Of course, Jade had filled Beck in on the entire situation, from the outburst Harper had to the comments that she made and why ultimately in the end she had decided to let her stay home. That includes the comment about her wishing Beck was her father instead.
"She did." Jade sighs, her breath hot against the fabric of Beck's t-shirt "I know it might freak you out a little bit but-"
"It doesn't freak me out." Beck is quick to assure her "If anything it's flattering, it just...well, it makes me sad for her because she deserves so much better. And it makes me sad for you because I know how hard you've been trying to make sure that this didn't happen."
"He wasn't even phased when I told her that Harper wanted to stay home..." Jade tells him "And it sucks because deep down I know he's getting what he wants and I hate that."
"You can't force them to have a relationship, Jade." Beck reminds her "That will only put more of a strain on things. And as much as I hate to admit it, it seems like right now they're both content to not have to see each other."
"She's only five..." Jade frowns "How could someone not want a relationship with their five year-old? Harper especially. She's such a great kid..."
"She is." Beck agrees, pressing a kiss to the top of Jade's head "But lucky you, you get her all to yourself."
"I suppose..." Jade agrees "I feel bad for Drew. He's caught in the middle and he doesn't even realize it."
"What do you mean?"
"He's really the only thing that keeps me from completely cutting Andrew off, I guess." Jade admits "If Andrew treated him the same way he treats Harper, then I would just let him be un-involved and take full custody. But I don't want to rob my son of a chance to have a relationship with his dad if I can avoid it. And he loves his dad."
"He's still little." Beck points out "If AJ continues to display this kind of behavior as he grows up...I won't be surprised if it starts to hurt his relationship with Drew as well. If he sees the way that he acts towards you and how he acts towards his sister...he might want to spend as much time with him either."
"That's not what I want for them..." Jade groans "I want them to have the relationship with him."
"I know you do, but you can't control what AJ does or what he wants." Beck reminds her "He's going to do what he's going to do and if he ends up sabotaging relationships because of it...well, that's on him. You've done all that you can do, the ball is in his court. All you need to worry about now is being the best mom that you can be to Harper and Drew."
"When did you get so wise?" Jade smirks
"They say it comes with age." Beck chuckles "So I guess I've just been accumulating wisdom."
"In all serious though...thank you." Jade looks up at him "For always being able to talk me down when I get a little crazy."
"You're not crazy." He assures her "You're a mom who cares about her kids, and I admire the hell out of you for that."
"Thanks, I guess." Jade smiles a bit "I'm sorry, by the way. I probably spend a lot more time talking and venting about my ex than I should."
"Don't be sorry." Beck tells her "This is a very atypical situation. I'm just happy that I can be here to support you."
"Me too." Jade nods as she snuggles up next to him "So, uh...there's been something else I've been meaning to talk to you about..."
"Oh no..." Beck groans "It's finally happening, isn't it? You're killing my character off of the show."
"You got me." Jade rolls her eyes "Wednesday is your last day."
"We're joking...right?" Beck clarifies
"Of course we are." Jade assures him "You signed a contract for fifty episodes, I legally can't write you out."
"Alright, good." Beck laughs "What was it that you actually wanted to talk about?"
"S'been on my mind for a few weeks now. The kids were actually the ones to bring it up..." Jade begins "We've been together for over a year now...and things are going well...and I think they'll continue to go well, so I was wondering...if you wanted to move in?"
"Move in here?" Beck clarifies "With you and the kids?"
"Yeah." Jade nods "That way we wouldn't have to coordinate when we could be spending the night or the weekend at whoever's place, we would just be together all of the time."
"And the kids were the ones to bring this up?" Beck smirks
"Well, we discussed how you were my boyfriend." Jade explains "And Harper's way of kid-splaining it to Drew was that I have you the way Andrew has Sydney...which then led to the 'well, will he live with us?' conversation because Sydney lives with Andrew. I'm not saying I want you to move in just because she moved in with him...I think we're actually at a point in our relationship where we're ready to do so."
"That sounds great..." Beck admits, pressing a kiss to Jade's lips "But..."
"But what?" She asks him "If you're not ready, it's totally okay. I know moving in with someone on their own is a feat, and moving in with someone with kids is an even bigger one so-"
"S'not that." Beck chuckles "I do want to live with you and the kids. I just thought...what if we found a new place? One that isn't mine or isn't yours...but could be ours?"
"I love that idea." Jade grins "Let's do that."
"Alright." Beck grins as well as he sits up "We can start on Sunday."
"Really?"
"Why not?" He laughs "I can't wait to live with you...so why waste any time?"
"You're right." Jade smiles as he kisses her "Wow, I didn't think I would be so excited about this."
"Me either." Beck admits "I love you so much, Jade."
"I love you too."
