Brain went to the porch and sat down next to Pinky, who was a sobbing mess. The crying was silent, but each sob he did manage to hear made Brain feel even worse. He placed his hand on Pinky's shoulder. But Pinky pulled himself away from Brain, edging himself further away. Brain took his hand away and crossed his arms.
"I know you're not listening, Pinky, but I would like to say that I am sorry. I have done nothing but been a rude guest. I should have communicated my feelings more. I should have told you what I thought from the first place."
No stir from Pinky, so he continued. "I'm just used to living on my own and not having to say what I am doing. But that's different when you have someone living with you. I should have told you that I was recording the movie. I should have told you about the sherbet. I should have told you about the movie night instead of expecting you to read my own mind. No one can read minds, it's scientifically impossible. But never mind that. I apologize."
Pinky looked up and at least turned to face Brain.
"Truth be told, although this weekend wasn't ideal, it was definitely interesting. Most unique and the most excitement I've had in a while. And the sunrise is lovely."
"Really?" Pinky said.
"I haven't seen the sky that orange in a while. Now, we still have some time to make breakfast. I'll make it for both of us. Whatever you want."
Pinky wiped away his tears. "Alright. Can we watch the movie while we eat?"
Brain laughed, "Fine, fine. To be honest, I've seen all those Orson Welles movies. But I haven't seen a Harry Potter film."
Pinky gasped, "Not a single one, poit! Where have you been all your life?"
"In labs, mostly."
"Come on," he grabbed Brain and went straight to the TV, "We need to get started. They're all long and it'll take us a while, narf!"
And for the rest of the day, they sat and watched the rest of the films. And for Brain, they were a million times better than any Orson Welles film. Well, maybe not Citizen Kane.
Hey, he still had to have some respect for his voice doppelganger.
"Oh wait, Brain, I had something to give to you!"
Pinky ran inside and came out with a card. Brain recognized the supplies from the art store. It had the words 'Thank You' spelled out in macaroni.
"It's for letting me stay here. I appreciate it."
Brain got a magnet and hung it up on the fridge. "It's great. The macaroni is superb."
"Took me a while too, narf! Hard not to snack on it, but I needed to make that card, so I got through it!"
Indeed, it was a nice card. Eric was spared for now.
