Beck and Jade go back and forth for a while about whether or not they want their new home to be one that they purchase, or one that they build themselves. In the end, for the sake of time and stress, they decide to look for a house that is already built. Their relator shows them one in Beverly Hills that is a relatively new build, and has never been lived in. The couple takes it as a sign that it was meant to be their's, and purchases it for a measly 16.5 million. The 13,820 square-foot home has five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a large pool with a cabana, a home theater, a home gym and sauna, a bar area, and a seven car garage. A personal favorite feature of Jade's is the motorized wine rack, that stretches for twenty-one feet and can carry a bottle of wine from the kitchen to the upstairs master wing at the push of a button.
Both Harper and Drew are absolutely amazed at the sheer size of the house. Andrew's penthouse, while spacious and expensive, is no where near as large, and while Jade has had the money to afford a home like this for a while, she has always opted for spaces that are more modest. Within a week though, she has adjusted to the size and is enjoying the amenities quite a bit...and she loves that Beck is always there. Whether it be a luxurious home in Beverly Hills or a motel room in the middle of nowhere, she knows that home will always be wherever he and her children are. But it doesn't hurt that home is currently very, very nice right now.
"I can't believe this place is really ours." Jade smiles up at Beck as the two of them stand out near the pool
It's night time now, Harper and Drew are fast asleep upstairs, and they can just barely see the lights of downtown Los Angeles shining in the distance beyond their backyard.
"Me either." Beck admits "I can't believe that I own a place like this...and that I own it with you."
"What does that mean?"
"It means..." Beck hesitates "After we broke up... and I know it was high school and it was a long time ago... but I guess I never imagined us here. Even when Bianca and I set a motion for our divorce, even though you were back in my life at some capacity, I never would have guessed that this is where you and I would end up. But...I'm so happy we did. I love you."
"I love you too, Beck." Jade tells him "It's hard for me to believe sometimes too...but I'm so happy this is how everything worked out."
"I guess the universe just knew we were supposed to be together."
"Yeah." Jade agrees, leaning into Beck "I guess so."
"Is everything okay?" Beck asks, climbing into bed a few weeks later
Jade is already beneath the sheets, sitting back against a stack of pillows as she reviews the next episode's script on her computer. It had been a long day on set for them, Jade happened to be directing the episode and there were issues with the lighting that prevented them from getting much accomplished. Beck had noticed her mood had been a bit off even before all of those inconveniences had occurred, and had continued to be off once she arrived home. She had been a bit short with Harper and Drew, which contrary to what might be popular opinion, wasn't common.
"Yeah..." Jade sighs, rubbing her forehead "Just...work."
They have five episodes left to shoot before the show officially wraps forever. While the scripts are finished and have been for while, there's still proofreading and editing that needs to be done. Beck suspects that the emotional side of things might be starting to impact Jade as well; this show had been a dream come true for her, and now she's preparing to say goodbye to it.
"Maybe you should put work away for now." Beck suggests, reaching over and taking her hand "It will still be there in the morning. Let's get some sleep."
"I'm not tired yet."
"Well, let's just talk for a little bit then." He counters "Your eyes need a rest from the screen if you're going to want to fall asleep anyway."
"Alright..." Jade sighs with a smile, looking over at him
She hits the save button on the document and closes the computer, setting it on her bedside table before unstacking her pillows and wrapping the blankets around her. Beck gets up and turns off the lights then switches on his bedside lamp, so there's still some illumination in the room, and slides beneath the blankets next to her.
"A little better?" He raises an eyebrow at her, reaching out to rub her arm gently
They're laying face to face now, only inches apart. It's not uncommon for them to lay like this for a while when they first get into bed, eventually Jade will roll away from him and Beck will wrap an arm around her waist and pull her close, holding him against her while they sleep.
"A bit..." Jade nods "Beck? Do you still feel like you need to have kids?"
"Do you want the honest answer to that or the safe one?"
"The honest one..." Jade says quietly
"Andre and I actually had a conversation about this a few months ago, because he asked me the same thing." Beck admits "And honestly...no."
"N-no?"
The whole reason he had left Bianca in the first place had been because he wanted to have kids and she didn't. Now that his opinion has supposedly changed...will he want to go back to her? Could this whole relationship...this new house...the past year and a half of Jade's life...been for nothing? Suddenly she feels sick to her stomach.
"Hey, relax. It's alright." Beck assures her when he sees the expression on her face "I'm going to tell you the same thing I told him. All along the thing that was bothering me so much was the absence of children in my life. Sure, I loved being Uncle Beck to Andre and Tori's kids, but I needed something more than that. We've been together long enough that I've been able to create really special bonds with Harper and Drew and...well, they've filled that void for me."
"All the way?"
"All the way."
"Well, that's great." Jade tries her best to smile "I think I'm starting to feel tired now, I'm going to roll over."
"Alright..." Beck laughs at the suddenness of it all "Goodnight, I love you."
"Love you too."
Beck switches off his bedside table and pulls Jade close to him. They lay together for only about a minute before Beck realizes something is wrong and turns the lamp on again.
"Babe? What's wrong?" He asks her "Why are you crying?"
"Please don't be mad..." She sighs, pushing herself into a sitting position
"I promise I won't be."
"I'm pregnant."
"Jade..." Beck has to stop himself from laughing "Why the hell would I be mad about that? That's fantastic!"
"But you just said-"
"I know what I said." He cuts her off "Harper and Drew filled that need for me...but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to have more kids...especially if I get to have them with you."
"So, you're not upset?"
"Not a bit."
"You want this?"
"I really do, yeah." Beck grins "Jade...we're having a baby. This might be the best day of my life, second to only the day that you walked back into it."
"Oh my god, I'm so glad you said that..." Jade admits "Because I'm really freaked out and I've been freaking out all day."
"Babe, why are you freaking out?" He laughs "This is a good thing...this is a great thing."
"I just..." Jade hesitates, trying to carefully pick her words "I always told myself that if I ever had any more kids, I would have them with someone I was married to because having them with someone I wasn't married to turned out so shitty. And I don't want you to think that's me demanding to get married because Andrew and I got engaged because we thought it was the right thing to do and-"
Beck quickly leans over and takes her in his arms, kissing her deeply and passionately in hopes of giving her some kind of reassurance. He understands her worry, but can't help but think of the engagement ring he has tucked away in his trailer on set for safe-keeping. Their time is coming, and it's coming soon.
"Sorry." He tells her when they break away from their kiss "You were spiraling...I had to stop it."
"S'okay..." Jade smiles, shaking her head "I...I'm sorry for spiraling."
"I know why you did." Beck admits "This didn't work out for you the last time, and you're scared. But you shouldn't be. You and I have been together so much longer now than you and Andrew had been when you got pregnant with Harper, right?"
"Right." Jade nods "And...deep down I don't think I ever really loved Andrew. I'm so fucking in love with you that it scares me sometimes."
"So we'll be fine." Beck grins, her words warming his heart "Won't we?"
"We will." Jade leans over and kisses him
"How long have you known?"
"I had a feeling about a week ago, some of the symptoms I had the first two times resurfaced." Jade explains "I went to the doctor on my lunch yesterday and and they called to confirm this morning. If I had to guess, I'm probably about eight weeks."
"You don't tell anyone until twelve, right?"
"Right."
"Harper and Drew are going to be so excited."
"Yeah..." Jade smiles "They will be."
"Can I?" Beck asks, reaching towards her abdomen
"I mean...sure." Jade laughs "But there's nothing there to feel. It's only about the size of a kidney bean."
"That's okay..." Beck chuckles as he touches her "I just want 'em to know that I'm here."
"They know." She assures him, placing her hand on top of his "I love you."
"I love you too." Beck tells her, leaning over to quickly peck her on the lips "And I love this little family of ours."
