The sky was sapphire-blue, hazed with wisps of clouds. It was a beautiful day for catching up on a lifetime of stories. Becca and Bucky were sat outside on a wooden picnic bench on the house's patio, facing the view of the distant hills and woods.

"You're not from America, are you?" Bucky asked.

"No. I grew up in England; my father is English, so my mother moved there when they got married."

"How is your father?"

"He's well. I went to visit him recently. He's a good man. Though, sometimes he used to be a little overprotective when I was growing up, but that's just 'cause he cared about me and brother so much. I remember he loved books, had a big collection of them, used to read to me sometimes. I really missed not being able to call him for so long." Becca smiled sadly. "Both he and my brother were lost in the Blip. But I'm really fortunate otherwise; hardly any of my close friends were Blipped. Plus there'll all still here somehow, 5 years later."

"What are they like, your friends?"

"They're a-" Becca searched for the right word. "Diverse bunch. I met quite a few of them when I was in the Army."

"Wait, you were in the Army?"

"That I was. It was good, while it lasted, I learned a lot, made some useful memories. It suited me."

"But you're not part of it now?"

"It was the end of the world. Or so we thought. I wasn't needed anymore. I was allowed to go. So, I left, and they kind of forgot about me. Technically I could go back, but too much as changed for me to drop everything now."

"What do you mean?"

"It's... complicated. But, I'm sure my friends would love to meet you. Then they could explain it better than I can."

"Alright then, I'll take your word for it."

Bucky breathed in the cool, fresh air. "It must be nice to get away from the city to a place like this."

"It is. Reminds me of home, and better days. I grew up in a pretty rural area."

"So, this place is your inheritance?"

"What can I say? My grandmother worked hard in her jobs, which she had many throughout her life. She gave a lot of her life to a lot of honourable causes. She only wanted to save up enough so that she could give one last thing to her legacy... I'm glad she did." Becca looked over at Bucky, who was looking contemplative. "Hey, you know this place belongs to you too y'know. You're free to come here anytime you want. I'll make you a key."

"Really?"

"Absolutely. You deserve a bit of solace way more than I do."

"Thanks, Becca."

"You're always welcome."

The conversation shifted.

"They say that a guy called Thanos is the one that made everyone disappear. You know anything about that?"

"Yeah, I actually saw him in fact."

"You did? What did he look like?"

"About 8ft, big, purple, weird-looking. He was humanoid, but there was something going on with his face. I would've gotten a better look if he hadn't knocked me to the ground with his magic space rocks." Bucky said mockingly.

Becca made a face. "Magic space rocks?"

"They were the most powerful objects in the universe. They were called the infinity stones. I say 'were' because they got destroyed, which is probably a good thing in retrospect, 'cause no-one else can use them now."

"Wow. Glad you're okay then."

"Yeah, me too." 'Okay' probably wouldn't have been the word he would use, but maybe he would be okay now after all. "We were lucky to have made it; Thanos was planning on destroying the entire universe and starting from scratch, as if that would have changed anything."

"His 'plan' sounds pretty stupid then."

"Right?" Bucky laughed, as did Becca.

"So... how did you all manage it, how'd you finally kill him and bring everybody back?" Becca asked.

Bucky sighed and shook his head. "I don't think I'm supposed to tell you that. It's probably some highly classified info. Sorry about that."

Becca smiled, "Oh well, I thought so. It's fine, keep your secrets."

"I swear, if I could, I would tell you, because it's the kind of crazy secret that feels weird to keep to yourself."

"Don't you have the other Avengers?"

Bucky grimaced. "Look, we're all... very different, so it's sort of difficult to strike up conversation. Me and Sam Wilson are okay, because we had a friend in common, but the others? One of them literally had an entire town hostage, or so I've heard, using her magic. So, it's hardly likely I would get along with her."

"I can imagine. No, actually I can't."

Bucky shook his head jokingly.

"Wait, are you talking about Wanda Maximoff?"

"Yeah, I think that's her name. She's not all bad though; apparently she nearly killed Thanos, single-handedly, which is insane. So, she's just revenge-driven I think, which I get. Still doesn't explain the hostage thing, but I don't think I'm supposed to know all the details. I reckon there's a lot going on that I don't know, which I'm fine with, so long as it's not potentially world-ending again."

"Well, you don't need to worry with me. World-ending stuff really isn't my style."

Next scene

After hours of conversation, Bucky figured it was time to leave. He could also sense that Becca was perhaps busier than she let on. They were standing next to the front door again.

"Thanks, Becca. It's been good speaking with you."

"The same to you."

Bucky nodded. "Let's do this again sometime."

"Agreed. Next time, I'll introduce my friends."

"And I'll introduce Sam."

"Until then, then."

They hugged. "Remember," Becca said, "We're family, don't you forget that. I'm here if you need me."

Bucky smiled. "I won't forget."

Becca waved him off on the front porch.

Next Scene

Becca was sat across from a woman with dark, curly hair and an angular face. The room around them was dimly lit.

"Did you tell him?" The woman asked in a low voice.

"C'mon, of course I didn't, I know better than that." Becca replied.

"You're going to have to eventually, or he'll find out himself. You can't pretend forever, he'll get suspicious." She continued, sipping coolly from a mug.

"Quit making me paranoid, we're on good terms." Becca retorted.

"For now."
