CHAPTER 1: Gates, Knights, And Technology
Location: Actus, The Capitol of the Kingdom of Brumel
Time: 12:30 PM
Bio: The Kingdom of Brumel. A hidden kingdom that is located east of the Kingdoms of Atlas and Mantle. Within the hidden kingdom is a utopia of advanced technology, progression, and hope. The kingdom's government is monarchical but in Brumels government it is a democracy with a senate that debates on different topics such as helping the other kingdoms, military operations, including issues within the kingdom. How the kingdom came to be during an expedition during Mantle's earlier years when the expedition group discovered a mountain filled with dust crystals. Which the group returned to Mantle and began to make their journey there building the kingdom that was once a small mining village, into a town, and into the grand city that it was known for today.
The capital city of Actus was bustling with civilians walking around the sidewalks with the soft hovering sounds of atelier gunships above the tall skyscrapers. For a group of five, today was a special day for them within the Science district of Actus as it was hosting a comic convention.
"Oh man… this is going to be the best day of my life dude!" Blade shouted excitedly his hair a bright yellow, spiky, and styled in a modern ducktail haircut. His skin is a rich shade of sepia. The clothing starting with his shirt was adorned with both fire and lightning décor on it with the decoration also repeating on his pants and shoes. Around his neck was an orange scarf with a little blue strip at the end. With his crimson eyes flashing around all over the place as he walked up the stairs.
"Maaaan I'm hoping they have the mint conditions of the poster of the first issue of Captain Remnant in the dealer's room." He said once again bouncing up and down excitedly almost like a kid at a candy store.
"Well, I wish you luck Blade, I might as well go to the mangakas' alley and see if they have any new manga available or maybe I'll get some posters," Louvel said with his hairstyle being more neatly kept and his hair a bright light brown with his wolf ears poking up and twitching with a smile on his face. His clothing was much more different wearing an article of clothing like a ninja with the fabric being a dark hue of navy blue. His skin is a light tan color the sunrays complimenting his skin tone making him a literal sun child. To complement the sun's color came through his eyes which were a bright hazel.
"Heh, I just want to see all the cute cosplays everyone is going to be wearing," Corona said chuckling a bit at her teammates' excitement. Her short blueish-purple hairstyle accenting the rest of her gear mostly being that of a sniper's gear but in her style with a light blue jacket, a purple shirt underneath her jacket. For her pants, it was adorned by a gray army-style print on them as her shoes were just normal boots.
"For me, it is all about the weapons! Especially the cosplaying kind! Just imagine if I were to begin cosplaying as well," Kazura said with pride in his voice. His hair is a rich blonde with it also being short. Instead of clothing unlike Blade, Corona, and Louvel who all but wore normal clothes. Kazura wore a full set of armor that was pure as white adorned with hints of gold over the metal along with a red cape on the back of his armor his blueish-green eyes focusing on that of the last member.
The last member of the team of five was a black velociraptor with the top part of his head being bony with little white protrusions coming from his head. Which the raptor had a collar around his neck and a nameplate on it was the name of the Grimm velociraptor the name being "Outsider." The dinosaur Grimm released a sneeze shaking his head a bit chittering climbing the stairs until everyone was all up.
"Still… gonna be tons of fun! Finally, our first break in days from doin' fuckin' huntsman work baby," Blade said with pure joy in the young man's voice raising a fist into the air jumping a bit.
"Let's enjoy this respite while we still can okay boys?" Corona said with Kazura, Outsider, and Louvel releasing a cheer of joy.
Time: 1:00 PM.
On one of the streets of the science district, people were left frozen in awe. The civilians were staring at what seemed to be a temple that just appeared out of nowhere… but it was far too thin to be even called a temple with some civilians wondering what it is.
Then there came a sound…
The sound of flapping wings as a dragon emerged from the large gate with everyone looking in awe…believing that it was an act put on for the people attending the convention… however there was one problem. Someone was riding it… even made worse was an army emerged from it.
The unarmed civilians began to back up, with their fight or flight responses activating. Just the sheer sight of the army had everyone left in fear and trying to understand what was going on. Until one of the soldiers from the other army held up a horn before blowing on it is releasing a shrill sound. With the roar of orcs, horses whinnying, and the arrows being nocked and released out into the flurry of civilians.
Back with Team BLCKOUT, Louvel's wolf ears twitched a bit picking up the deep sound stopping for a moment. "Everyone…I heard something," he said with everyone looking at him.
"What's up Louvel?" Blade asked with Outsider releasing an inquisitive chitter smelling the air before hissing.
"Outsider picked up a scent!?" Kazura exclaimed.
"I hear… a horn, screaming, and roaring," Louvel informed his friends.
"Guys, I think we need to hold off on going to the convention," Corona said looking out of the window.
Outside she noticed civilians running away from the army that came through the gate attacking any civilians trying to escape from their wrath.
"Shit…we need to get out there and help!" Blade replied starting to run ahead of his comrades with Outsider following with a screech.
"Just like the Bombing of the Royal District…" Kazura said with a heavy sigh following with Louvel in tow along with Corona.
All four pulled out their scrolls activating their lockers to come to their position running outside to avoid causing any damage inside coming to a halt with their lockers slamming to the ground and opening revealing the teams' weapons.
Blade's weapons were known as Inferno and Voltage, twin swords that transform into shotguns. He built the weapon during his time in Signal Academy along with his friend Louvel.
Louvel's weapon is named Okami no Ken or Wolfs Sword, a wakizashi coming from his clan the Shinbaori. However, he would reforge this weapon when he was in Menagerie with Blake, Corona, and Sun.
Corona's weapon was aptly known as Talon, but this version of her weapon is in its mark two phases. As the first phase of her weapon was a crossbow but ever since she brought Lil Miss Malachite and her gang of Mistrals criminal underground The Spider's she now changed her weapon to that of a rifle.
Finally, Kazura's weapon is a sword and shield named Caliburn and Honorsworn, the shield itself was made in Brumel by the royal forge master, but as for the sword it was believed to hail from ancient times and when it was discovered the sword itself was trapped within a stone and only one pure of heart and a clear mind could take up the sword.
The team of hunters rushed to grab their weapons brandishing it making their approach to the incoming foreign military. At first, which was a slow walk then starting to run. With Blade changing Inferno and Voltage to its shotgun form.
Sliding to a halt he notices one of the foreign soldiers was about to attack a woman and her child which he swung his weapon out aiming and shooting at the soldier watching the unknown soldier's body crumple and fall over dead.
"Yo, you alright?! Can you move?" He said approaching the woman and her child to assess any injuries that were brought upon them.
Louvel immediately unsheathed Okami no Ken from its sheath before closing his eyes, the orcs stamping footsteps approaching the wolf faunus quickly raising a club in one of his hands bringing it down which Louvel leaped out of the way running to the orc and striking the monster before ending his life. Which he moved to assist Blade with any of the soldiers.
Corona, on the other hand, loaded her rifle aiming down her scope aiming and firing at any soldiers that were approaching moving forward every chance she could get. However, instead, she needed to start taking steps back due to one thing the concerns of the civilians.
Kazura clashed with one of the soldiers seemingly a noble using Caliburn to parry the sword of the other away from him before swinging his weapon down at the noble soldier merely wounding him watching him fall to his knees before blocking an incoming arrow with Honorsworn.
Finally, Outsider was rushing after a soldier of the unknown army who chucked their sword at the Grimm velociraptor out of fear which the raptor swiftly moved out of the way. Jumping onto the man and opening his jaws to bite down on the soldiers 'neck crushing his jugular and ripping out his neck growling with other soldiers continuing to march.
"Shit! There are way too many of them! "Blade shouted shooting another one of the soldiers.
"We need to retreat now! Prioritize the civilians fleeing and cover them" Louvel said pulling out his explosive kunai's throwing them at the incoming enemy with it exploding upon impact.
"Retreat for now! I'll summon the Atelier forces to the nearest shelter that the security forces are taking the civilians!" Kazura replied with Outsider backing up to the knight's side growling.
"Copy that Kazura!" Corona said with the sniper getting a head start with Blade, Louvel, Kazura, and Outsider following her to the nearest shelter which was at Actus Academy. Civilians ranging from convention go-ers, to injured, and uninjured.
Time: 2:00 PM
Location: Actus Academy, Kingdom of Brumel.
"So Kaz, did ya call in the Atelier Paladins to come and help us?" Blade asked leaning against a tree trunk.
"Blade, patience, they'll be here," Louvel said meditating peacefully.
"So far every Atelier soldier in the science district has since been mobilized but some of them are coming in through gunships. However, a squadron of soldiers has been entrusted to us… Blade please do not overreact as I say this," Kazura said.
"Let me guess, the Royal Guard! Ooh, wait! Is it the Atelier Agents you brought back re-avowed!?" Blade said excitedly with Corona and Outsider stifling their laughs.
"Freak out in three, two, one," Corona said.
"Sadly, the squadron that was entrusted to us was a batch of shinies, in other words…a group of recruits fresh from training," Kazura said with Blade's excitement dying down which he turned around and began to slam his head against the tree.
Seeing this Louvel busted out laughing, even in times of despair Blade seemingly brings a sense of entertainment to everyone through his actions or words, but one cannot deny that he is a good leader.
"Prince Kazura! " A shout of a voice rang out with a soldier in white armor with olive green stripes adorning it across his armor approached the team that was currently at ease.
"Good to see you here," Kazura said facing the soldiers in white as they all presented themselves alongside their leader.
"Sir! My name is Sergeant First Class Melos and my squadron, We will do our best to protect the people!" Sgt. Melos said saluting him with the rest of his squad saluting Kazura.
"At Ease, Our mission will be hard but as Brumel stands so shall we! Our mission is to join forces with the security forces of Actus Academy and push the enemy away from the academy while the civilians are brought into the shelter. We'll be using the projective shields as cover and interlocking with them for cover! We'll be using this style to make an impenetrable wall! Am I understood!" Kazura spoke briefing the batch of shinies on their mission.
"Sir, Yes Sir!" The squadron said which upon the next minute the Atelier soldiers used their projective shields interlocking with the other creating a wall with the security forces of Actus Academy having their weapons ranging from pistols, rifles, and machine guns but instead of bullets… they would be shooting lasers out of it.
Which when the enemy army began their approach they all fired with a hail of laser bolts pierced through the enemy soldiers like butter to a hot knife which, even could burn through the primitive armor that the unknown army had.
Thankfully, the mission turned out to be a success, with the unknown army defeated and so far three of them being prisoners as they would be held in Brumelian custody.
However, there were casualties for Brumelian civilians. The number? One hundred and fifty-one were injured killed and fifty were injured. . .
On this day it was called the Unknown Siege of Brumel. Yet as the senate of Brumel debated about the options of war but King Rodrigues Verde remained careful believing that it would lead to uneasy relations with the unknown region. The best approach that the technological kingdom could take was by remaining peaceful and sending a recon team.
However, for Team BLCKOUT they were once again praised as heroes for putting themselves on the front lines even after their accused infamy of The Founding Day Crisis in Atlas.
Several Days Later.
Team BLCKOUT was relaxing in their dorm room trying to take in their newfound fame with a grain of salt, with Blade looking at an article about it on the internet, Louvel also looking at the news on the television along with Kazura, Corona, and Outsider.
"Great. I think we might be getting conscripted into the military after this," Blade groaned closing his eyes and putting his scroll to the side placing his hand into his face.
"Still… we did what we thought was right Blade. Or do I must assume that you are saddened that we could not go to the convention," Louvel said looking at his distraught friend.
"Of course I am! Someone may have already bought that mint condition poster of Captain Remnant! Fuck!" Blade replied.
"Still, I do think Kaz's old man still has something planned for us," Corona spoke up with Kazura tensing up a bit.
"Still if my father had something planned he or his royal guard would be knocking at the door and asking for all of us," Kazura said which he heard a knock at the door which the prince could only sigh.
"Me and my big mouth," He said, with Blade getting out of his bed walking over to his door opening it revealing a member of the Royal Guard saluting Blade.
"Ah! My apologies for disturbing you Team BLCKOUT, Upon the orders of King Rodrigues Van Verde I have been ordered to come here to receive you all," The royal soldier said with Kazura standing up looking at the royal soldier.
"Understood. Come on everyone if it is something my father wishes to speak about then it is the best time to take it seriously," Kazura said walking out with Blade releasing a soft yawn walking out with Corona putting her hands behind her back and Louvel following in tow with Outsider just shaking his body.
Location: Brumelian/Atelier Paladin Headquarters, Actus
Kingdom: Brumel
Time: 3:00 PM
Rodrigues looked at the incoming gunship that landed in front of him watching the blast doors open watching Kazura and the rest of his team come out. With the prince taking the lead approaching his father.
"Father," Kazura said.
"Kazura," Rodrigues replied with a smile.
"You know if you are going to be calling for me why could you not come for me? " Kazura asked.
"My apologies, I was currently preparing the surprise for you all," Rodrigues said with a smile causing everyone to release an inquisitive hum.
"Please do follow me," Rodrigues said starting to walk with Kazura following after and his team members following after him with the doors to the base opening up automatically with the guards saluting him and BLCKOUT entering the base.
"As I spoke with the Senate including the Knights of the Round Table they all told me that your actions saved many lives. So I began to think best not just for you my son but for your team as well. Which we will be sending a force through the mysterious gate." Rodrigues said going to the hangar room.
"N-Now so soon f-father?!" Kazura said walking into the entrance.
"For Fucks sakes…" Blade muttered underneath his breath until receiving a double slap on the back of his head by Corona and Louvel upon impact he released a yelp of pain.
"Yet, Mr. Verde this is so sudden… though to go through the Gate which our enemy came through…so soon," Louvel spoke up rubbing his head with a finger taking a moment to think.
"Well we are not heading there right now, we will still need time to prepare which I have decided to send two of my best agents through the gate for survey purposes and to report back with any information they have found. However, I decided to create a battalion meant to go through the gate…." Rodrigues said presenting the army.
"Allow me to introduce the 501st Atelier Battalion! This battalion was formed from different divisions around Brumel ranging from the Royal Guard, The Security Force Division, Special Forces, The Engineering Corps, and the Artillery Corps as well with the inclusion of the Atelier Air Force. However, that last bit may have to wait until the base is set up," Rodrigues said with everyone saluting the King and BLCKOUT.
"So who's gonna be commandin' the army then? I have a good feeling it is going to Lieutenant Eros" Corona said smiling softly with a chuckle leaving the wise king
"Well you are close, I have promoted Eros to the rank of Commander after he rescued twenty injured civilians along with his squadron who managed to also capture three people who were part of the enemy force. The leader of this battalion will be my SON!" Rodrigues said with pride which at first came a bit of silence but then….
"EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!?" The team shouted together with pure confusion

Where is Team RWBY?: Well I know I left them out completely for this chapter but just assume that they were out on a mission!
Where does this story take place?: This story takes place in between the end of Volume 6 and the Start of Volume 7
Is this story a RWBY ReWrite?: Okay, first off I did this entirely for fun, but really I hold a serious distaste for the canon since CRWBY cannot write for crap. This means some characters have been removed entirely to reduce character bloat this includes villains as well. So yes, this is kind of a rewrite but until I do a TRUE RWBY Rewrite this is a taste of that for now.
What is Brumel?: It is a totally original kingdom, mostly inspired by Wakanda and how they were hidden away and also held a massive amount of vibranium. Just like them Brumel has a massive amount of dust crystals they are picking away at and as a certain character from Black Panther said: They've only scratched the surface!
Will there be any certain characters that I enjoyed in the series that I may have or may not have rewritten that will be added?: Yes... and No. I do have some ideas for some characters to show up such as Team SSSN, Neo and Roman Torchwick to show up. Sadly there are some character that I will not be adding due to them adding to the character bloat in the main canon. So I will add some characters to the story maybe for a filler chapter or something.
