Our duty as soldiers is to protect humanity

Master Chief, Mind telling me what your doing on that ship

Sir, Finishing This Fight

if we don't make it

Wake me when you need me

John was finally dead

After so many decades, so many battles, he could finally rest.

His body was buried on Earth at a hill outside of the historic city of New Mombasa and a memorial was constructed at the site. Arbiter, Thel Vadam, along with many sangheili who had fought alongside him had attended the funeral ceremony. Thel was greatly saddened by the loss of his friend who he had fought beside to stop the covenant and destroy the flood all those decades ago as well as stopping cortana and the banished. It was a day where all of humanity would mourn one individual because he had saved them all from extinction several times over. It was a day that would be forever honored and remembered by Humanity and Sangheili alike. His helmet was placed and welded to the memorial to honor his legacy.

He was a legend to Humanity and Sangheili alike, he would remain known to all even centuries after his death. He was revered as the finest warrior humanity ever produced. When faced with extinction, he was the one humanity rallied behind, he was the beacon of hope that led humanity through their darkest hour. Even as many of his fellow Spartans died and his age had finally started to catch up he continued fighting for the sake of humanity.

He was in every meaning of the word a hero, forever cemented into the collective memory of Humanity, his deeds and achievements were recognized by Alaya, even though he wasn't born on earth, far from Gaia's reach, his soul was still recorded and placed into the Throne of Heroes

John's POV

He was dead and felt nothing but an empty void.

Until something invaded that void.

It was a sound, it sounded like a voice

"No! Getaway from me!"

The voice sounded like it was crying. It sounded Human. It sounded like a young female. It sounded like they were in danger.

"Mashu! Ritsuka! Director!? ANYONE PLEASE!" He could tell that the voice was sobbing and pleading with fear.

She was alone and had no one to save her from her fate.

With the choice he was set with, The Master Chief had made his decision, He wouldn't let this person die because they had no one there for them. After all, it was his duty as a soldier to protect humanity.

He just needed a way to reach them. And as if something had heard his decision a light began shining in that void and approached him. As that light enveloped him he saw 7 containers before him.

Sword, Spear, Bow, Steed, Staff, Dagger, and Madness

He felt his soul being pulled towards the Bow. As he felt himself being placed into that container something switched on inside his soul and his mind was flooded with information. Information involving power and secrets and magic. Secret societies beget in the olden ways. He would be brought back to the world of the living as a spirit bound to a master.

The container enveloping him granted him flesh, blood, bone, all to act as a vessel to house that great spirit it beheld. Looking at the bow his body began to glow as the void around him began to glow in a brilliant white.

Gudako POV

"No! I don't want to die!" The girl screams in terror as monsters were approaching her location in the burning woods. She tried to call for help but no one answered and she was going to be ripped apart and die alone.

"Please…Someone…anyone…help…help me."She whimpered as tears fell from her eyes in fear and despair as it seemed that it would be here that she would meet her end.

But unbeknownst to her someone did hear her. Someone did hear her cries for help. Someone responded to her pleas.

A bright light appeared in front of her and when it died down in its place was what appeared to be a giant of a man in some form of futuristic looking green armor with octagonal shoulder pieces, he appeared to be wearing some kind of black skin suit under the armor, his helmet possessed a distinct reflective gold visor, and on the left side of his armors chest piece was the number 117 in white bold letters.

She then saw the man start clenching his fist while looking at the zombies.

John POV

Once the light had died down he found himself standing in a burning forest with a pair of creatures which resembled walking human corpses in front of him and a crying girl to his left. The creatures reminded him of the flood and he knew all too well the threat that they posed to humanity in the past.

The zombie charged at him with ravaging anger and hunger. He responded by sending his fist into its face which easily tore its head off. He then elbows another one next to it and punches its head off with his other fist. He finished off the zombies and cleared the immediate area. His motion tracker had picked up another group as he heard shrieks of undead come from the forest. He turned to face them and saw a group of skeletons come shambling towards him out of the woods with what appeared to be medieval era weaponry. Taking on the group unarmed would be too time consuming. He still needed to protect the girl.

"I need a weapon"

Almost instinctively he appeared to have made an M6H2 magnum pistol appear out of thin air in his hand, without questioning how he made it appear in his hand he quickly started shooting at the group of skeletons, the bullets shattering their skulls and breaking apart their bones. Using his armour's thrusters he easily dodged any attack aimed towards him; the only thing that did hit him was a single stray arrow towards his back which was blocked by his suits energy shields which barely made them drop by a full 2% While they were weak individually they made up for it in terms of their numbers. Similar to the Ungoy.

He then noticed an additional contact appear on his motion tracker

"AHH!" The girl screamed

John turned around to find a bulky creature made of flesh from many dead and was as big as a hunter had tried to sneak up on them and was approaching the girl as she was frozen in terror. He knew his pistol wasn't enough, he needed a better weapon. And just as he did before he had made another weapon appear in his other hand but this time it appeared to be an MA40 Assault Rifle, he quickly attached his pistol to the magnetic clamp on his right leg then held the rifle in the correct way. He used his thruster to boost towards the monster and ran at it at incredible speeds before hitting it with his shoulder and firing a few shots at its face. Just before it hits the ground and rolls back a few feet. Just as it tries to get up John activates his thrusters and boosts towards it and sprays its face with bullets. Once he fully empties the magazine he stomps its head in. He took his hand off of the front of the gun and pulled the empty magazine out and watched as it disappeared and a full magazine appeared to take its place. He loaded the new magazine into the gun and checked his motion tracker for any additional hostiles seeing as the place was clear he then attached his rifle to the magnetic clamp on his back and walked towards the girl.

She was sitting against a tree staring at him with a look of fear and apprehension in her eyes. She had red hair with amber eyes and was where some kind of white uniform. She was still clearly nervous and still had some tears on her face but had calmed down somewhat.

"I-umm thank you" she said after wiping the tears off of her face

"My name is…Gudako Fujimaru, w-who are you?"

"Archer class servant Spartan John-117 reporting, please confirm, are you my commanding officer?"

Gudako POV

She was nervous about the man in front of her and wasn't sure who he was and he asked her a question.

"Huh? Could you repeat that, I wasn't sure I heard you correctly"

She was confused, she was sure heard him say that he was a Servant but she didn't remember summoning one. She glanced down at her Right hand and saw the red tattoo known as a command seal marking her as a master.

"Archer class servant Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 reporting, please confirm, are you my commanding officer?"

"Huh! How? I uhh! Never mind! Yes I need your help! My friends and my brother could be in danger and I can't go after them alone. I'm scared that I'll run into more of those things." She answered honestly as she was unsure about what was happening, where she was, and how she got separated from Ritsuka and Mashu. Then she saw the Servant offer her his hand to lift her up. Seeing this she was able to calm down somewhat and accepted his hand which then pulled her up off the ground.

"Oh um who exactly are you?" She asked, having no knowledge on who the man standing before her was.

"Master Chief Petty Officer Spartan John-117 of the UNSC, service number S-117." He answered in his gruff, low voice

So he was a soldier but she had never heard of him, he didn't have a last name either and instead had a number which was the same as his service number. He also said he was a Spartan but as far as she knew guns didn't exist in Ancient Greece. She also didn't recognize any of the guns he used, and what is the UNSC?

"Uhm..what is the…UNSC?" She asked him.

"Perhaps I can answer that." Said the voice of an unknown woman causing Gudako to frantically look around for where the voice came from. She turned to her Servant and he also seemed somewhat surprised

"Cortana?" He asked in a confused voice that sounded a little surprised.

"Yes Chief, it's me." The voice answered. "Apparently I was summoned with you as one of your noble phantasms. Perhaps I should introduce myself to our master." The woman said in a light hearted tone.

Gudako then Saw a small floating woman appear in front of The Master Chief. She was light blue with short hair and was naked with several Circuit shaped midnight blue marks on her body with something flowing through them that looked almost digital.

"Nice to meet you Gudako Fujimaru. I'm a 3rd generation smart AI created by the UNSC designated CTN 0452-9 also known as Cortana. And to answer your question, the UNSC is the United Nations Space Command, and is the military, exploratory, and scientific force for Earth and Her colonies."

'Huh? Did she just say Space command, and the UNSC works for Earth and Her colonies? And She is an AI?' Gudako was now very confused but Cortana quickly snapped her out of her thoughts.

"I'm detecting a form of transmission being broadcast throughout the area. It seems to be looking for you. I'm unable to determine the location of where it's being broadcast from, but it would be best if we move with caution, we don't know if it's friendly or not as I am unable to make sense of it."

"Understood," Said Master Chief before turning to Gudako and signaling to her which direction they were going as Cortana Disappeared.

Gudako then quickly remembers what happened before she came here and ran to the tree line to confirm her suspicions and freezes at the edge of the tree line with a frightful look on her face.

John POV

When John caught up with her he stopped at what she was looking at and it was a sight that was all too familiar for the Spartan as he had seen it several times before.

It looked like the Covenant all over again…the city was burning and monsters roamed the streets, He can imagine how many lives were lost.

"It's just like the glassing of New Alexandria during the Fall of Reach." Said Cortana in a somewhat somber tone as the Spartan looked out at the city before turning to look at his commander.

"This… is Fuyuki…we were supposed to rayshift here to prevent this from happening.' She said as she looked to the ground.

"Did we get here too late? No…no that can't be right, that's why we're here." Gudako said, visibly worried but hoping that there was still a chance.

"Then we find out who did this and what happened." Said the Master Chief taking his Assault Rifle off of his back.

"You're right, we won't get anything done standing around. Let's move. Hopefully—"

"G-Gudako? Do you read?! It's me, Romani." Her wristband lights up and she activates it without any hesitation. causing a hologram of a young man in a doctor's uniform to appear.

"Doctor!" She said with relief in her voice seeing a friendly face.

"Thank goodness It finally connected. I was trying a wide area scan but the whole system is just barely hanging on at the moment. I'm glad the signal managed to bounce off something and connected." He was clearly relieved to find another surviving master as they both caught up on the situation as the Master Chief and Cortana listened.

From what Cortana could summarize while listening in: Gudako was part of an organization known as Chaldea and they were about to do something called a "Rayshift" to fix whatever set the city ablaze but apparently something went wrong resulting in most of the staff being killed. Only Gudako and a few others got transported and now they were in the process of picking up the pieces. Gudako then tells him about her current status as a master of a Servant.

"What! You summoned a Servant?! I know that Mashu is one thing but you actually managed to summon a full-fledged one?" Dr Romani said, clearly surprised by this development.

"Kind of? I wasn't trying to summon a Servant, he just manifested in front of me…Wait, what was that about Mashu?" Gudako asked with curiosity.

"I'll try to make a rendezvous point with what navigation data I have, It'll make more sense when you see her in person."

"I think I could help you with that Doctor Romani," Cortana said after accessing the transmission.

"Huh!? Who is this…and how did you get access to this channel?" The doctor said, clearly surprised with a hint of panic in his voice.

"That would be me." Cortana said as she appeared next to the Spartan. "I'm a 3rd generation smart AI created by the UNSC designated CTN 0452-9 also known as Cortana, I assist her servant via his suit and neural interface. I was summoned alongside the Master Chief as one of his noble phantasms."

"A Servant with an AI as one of their noble phantasms! And it can hack into our comm channel! The director is definitely not going to like this…" Romani said curiously mulling about what kind of servant she summoned.

"Doctor. I'm sure she can help us." Gudako spoke up.

"Relax Doctor, all I was planning on doing was requesting access to the navigation data so I can cross-reference it with my own data that Master Chief's armor collected so as to make it easier to regroup with the others who ended up here." Cortana suggested and after a long pause the doctor agreed that right now they needed all the help they could get and Cortana was willing to give the Doctor a data package containing the information regarding the history of the Master Chief and the UNSC once the system is fixed. After a few short seconds Cortana was able to get access to the navigational data.

"Ok Chief I got the data and have marked the location of the rendezvous point for you."

"Understood," replied the Spartan.

"Alright, I'll pass on the message to the others. Good luck." Romani said before ending the transmission.

"We won't need it" said Cortana before quickly disappearing as The Spartan and master started moving to the waypoint.

Later…

Gudako POV

There were some more encounters with the undead as they entered the city but it was nothing the master chief couldn't handle. His master just watched as he easily dispatched the monsters in awe at his armor, weapons, and skill. He handled him exceptionally well in the burning city of death, fire, and ash.

'Just what kind of servant is he? No way he's from the past with those guns and that armor of his.' She had so many questions in her mind on who her Servant was…after all he said he was a Spartan but his weapons and armour could never have existed in the past.

'Is he from the future maybe?' Gudako thought it was highly likely considering he affiliates with this United Nations Space Command.

"Master Chief…John-117…?" She whispered remembering what her Servant said while walking and trying not to trip on the destroyed roads.

She then notices her Servant stop putting his arm out in front of her to stop her.

"Archer? What is it" she said looking at him.

"Stay Alert, something's not right." He replied

Alert, she looked around for something but couldn't find anything all she could find was rubble. Something was definitely wrong, She couldn't find anything, there weren't any monsters, it was quiet except for the sounds of flames.

John POV

The area could only be described as hell on earth but the air felt dead and it was as silent as an empty Forerunner facility. Then the Spartan sees something in the corner of his vision…The tiniest glint of a knife flying towards his master at high speeds.

"Eek!" She yelps as he covers her and the knife hits his back causing his shields to flare up.

"Cortana!"

"Already on It Chief, Calculating trajectory…There, that building to your right, 4th floor." Cortana said as she marked the building the knife came from. The Master Chief responded by switching his pistol for his assault rifle and started shooting at the building.

"What's happening?! Ritsuka yelled over the missiles.

"A Hostile Servant, most likely Assassin Class," Master Chief answers as a figure dashes out of the building while trying to dodge the oncoming spray of bullets, jumping from building to building while throwing daggers back at the Spartan.

"His higher position and speed is making him too hard to hit. Try getting him to lower ground." Cortana said using his helmet Comms.

Master chief was using his thrusters to dodge the incoming daggers but a lone dagger managed to hit his shoulder causing his shields to drop by a third. Had he not been moving and standing still it would definitely hit his head.

"Now he's starting to get seriously annoying." Cortana commented as Chief continued spraying, trying to dodge the daggers. "If only we had a more powerful weapon! Then we can get him off of his high ground." Cortana complained.

This made John think back to when he was first summoned and how he made his current guns appear out of thin air. Maybe he could swap one of them for another. Attaching his assault rifle to the magnetic clamps on his back. He shifted his arms to grip an unseen weapon. Focusing on the weapon he wants to use, An SPKR rocket launcher appeared in his arms and rested on his shoulder.

"That could work." Cortana said over the helmet comms.

Master chief then fired two Rockets at the building that the assassin was standing on with the second one off to the right slightly.

"Kekek…Do you really think that will stop me? When will you learn that!" He said as he sidestepped the first rocket and landed right above the target of the second rocket which detonated before he could react, destroying the ground he was standing on causing him to lose his footing and be sent crashing to the ground. The assassin had planned for this to happen in order to make the chief get close but unfortunately instead of closing the distance Master Chief stayed still and reloaded the rocket launcher and fired another rocket. Assassin quickly dives and rolls under the rocket and throws multiple daggers at the Spartan which knocks the rocket launcher out of his hand. Quickly he grabs his rifle from his back and starts spraying at the enemy Servant. The assassin tried dodging the bullets but one of the shots managed to hit the Assassin's knee which dropped his mobility.

Seeing few options and that his opponent wasn't going to be the one to close the distance between the two the assassin decided that he had to be the one to close the distance between the two. So the Servant leaped forward to close the gap. Master Chief knew that whatever the assassin was trying to do, it required him to be at close range.

John needed a close range weapon but he needed time to summon it. John picked up one of the daggers that littered the ground and threw it at the assassin to slow it down while he attached his rifle to his back and focused on summoning another weapon, this time an M90 shotgun.

"Your effort is futile Archer. Human Souls are insubstantial things. Write in agony! Zabaniya!" He cast away the seal on his arm revealing an elongated yellow arm that stretched to rip Archer's heart out.

"Archer No!" Gudako cried out but it was too late…She closed her eyes in fear.

However the Master Chief quickly reacted by activating his thrusters to boost himself back to increase their distance apart just enough for him to finish summoning his shotgun. Just before Assassin's noble phantasm could rip out his heart, he fired the shotgun at the assassin's shoulder which easily blew his arm off. Stopping it from grabbing his heart.

"Gah!" He cries out in pain as he clutches where his shoulder used to be; however, in doing this he had let his guard down, allowing the master chief to activate his thrusters to quickly close the distance and send him into the air with a powerful uppercut.

"Well that confirms it, our friend here is none other than the old man of the mountain, Hassan of the Cursed arm." Cortana said having utilized the data she got from Chaldea during the fight to confirm her theory.

The assassin, after being sent into the air, knew that he wouldn't be able to dodge any attack while in the air and that was what the Master Chief intended to do. Quickly he used his remaining arm to throw several daggers at the Spartan which he dodged. Dropping his shotgun John used his armor's grapple hook to grab the rocket launcher and quickly fire the remaining rocket at the enemy assassin. The rocket hit the assassin dead center in the chest, blowing him apart into chunks of flesh which all dispersed into nodes of light shortly after they hit the ground.

After dismissing his rocket launcher and picking up his shotgun, The Master Chief turns to his commander who looks at him in absolute awe with her jaw dropped.

"Are you uninjured?" The Master Chief asked his commander.

"Yeah, I am okay. Thanks for the save." She smiles but is also worried about him.

"But forget about me, what about you? You were within an inch of Assassin pulling your heart out and killing you!" She asked out of worry showing concern.

"He's fine, I knew he wasn't going to be done in from something like that." Cortana said, reassuring Gudako.

"How would you know that you weren't going to die?" His commander said, still concerned.

"Because Spartans never die, we're just 'missing in action'." The Master Chief responded.

Gudako POV

After hearing this Gudako's Comm unit then lights up and she activates it, showing a familiar face. It was Ritsuka with his black hair and blue eyes.

"Gudako! Finally, I came through! Are you ok? We heard screaming and we're currently rushing to your position." He said clearly running.

"We're clear now, we ran into a servant but Archer defeated him." She confirms.

"What? I thought I got rid of him!" A voice from Ritsuka's end groans, making her confused.

"We ran into a Servant ourselves. She was a Lancer but we managed thanks to Mashu and Caster. I'll explain later once we meet up!" The call ends and her Servant attaches his shotgun to his back before the pair head to the waypoint to finally regroup with the others and get some intel on what caused this mayhem.

Later…

No one POV

It was an abandoned school that seemed to be free of monsters as they run-up to the front gate with the others waiting for them. The Director in her black and yellow attire. Ritsuka, who was wearing the male version of the Chaldea uniform. Mashu who was wearing entirely different clothes, or it would be better to say armour. It was mainly black with purple outlines and had a big tower shield in her right hand. Upon Seeing Mashu She immediately ran past her servant and hugged her pink-haired kouhai.

"Oh my god? Mash! You're ok!" She cried seeing that Mashu was alright.

"Senpai! It's so good to see you alive too!" She laughed, relieved that she was alive. Ritsuka laughs at seeing them both happy. He was also relieved his sister managed to survive.

"Alright, break it up you two." The director said with a straight face but secretly happy on the inside.

"Ahh come on. What's wrong with living a little!" The man with blue hair and robes said. He then turns to the Spartan curiously.

"You're new? I've seen the archer in my war and you look absolutely nothing like that cynical bastard." He said but offered a hand.

"Names, Cu Chulainn of Ulster. Caster class. Normally Servants hide their identity but the rest in this hell hole already know, so why bother right now." The Master Chief grabs his hand and responds in kind.

"Master Chief Petty Officer Spartan John-117 of the UNSC. Archer class." The chief said, causing Cu to raise an eyebrow.

"Just call him Master Chief." Cortana said, appearing next to the Spartan.

"Damn you got some grip. Are you sure you're an Archer class servant? By the way, who are you?" Cu Chalainn asked, curious as to who and what the small blue woman floating by the Spartan is.

"I'm 3rd generation smart AI CTN 0452-9, known as Cortana. I was summoned alongside the Chief as one of his noble phantasms." She responded with a smirk.

"That's interesting." Caster said as he let go of the man's hand.

"I should make sure the perimeter is secure from hostiles." The Master Chief said, turning to leave the building.

"Well good luck with that." Caster responded in his relaxed tone.

John POV

As he walks out in the scorched yard he glances at his commander and her friends all chatting away. It was like the fear and worries she had before had faded away.

They needed some time to relax before the next engagement. Having down time to relax between engagements meant they would have better performance when they continue the mission. He will find out who or what caused this destruction to happen. He has done this many times before, having to lookout for Gudako and her friends shouldn't be too different from when he fought on Halo or on requiem. He would protect them no matter the cost. It was his duty as a soldier to protect them.

"So you're the servant Romani mentioned. An archer who uses modern-day weapons and armor." A voice from behind him said, getting his attention. Turning around he sees the pale blonde studying him up and down.

"So you are that servant with advanced firearms, armor, and an AI for a noble phantasm?"

"Affirmative." He responds as she sighed wondering who he was and where he came from. Chaldea definitely didn't have any servants prepared before this incident and he is most certainly not one from Fuyuki, so where did he come from?

"Do you need anything Ms?"

"Uh…yes. Who are you?"

"Master Chief Petty Officer Spartan John-117 of the UNSC." Responded the servant.

"Uh" she responded confused.

"If it's too much of a mouthful, just call him Master Chief." Cortana chimed in as she appeared next to the Spartan, Startling her.

"Whoa…Who are you?"

"I am 3rd generation smart AI CTN 0452-9, known as Cortana. I was summoned here alongside the Chief as one of his noble phantasms. Now mind telling us who you are?" Cortana answered in return.

"Olga Marie Asmleit Animusphere. You can call me Director Animusphere as I am the head of the Chaldea security force." She said with a sense of authority that felt somewhat familiar to the Master Chief. He then notices everyone else entering the building and decided to do the same.

"I think it would be best if we continue this conversation inside the building Director." The master chief said as he turned to enter the school as Cortana followed.

Upon entering the building he notices a small furry creature with white fur with a body that looked like a mix of a rabbit and a squirrel.

"What is that?" Cortana asked Gudako.

"Oh…This is Fou, he's Chaldea's resident pet. He sorta got caught up in the rayshift with us and he's now in the same situation." Gudako answered. "I think it would be best if you were properly introduced to everyone." She suggested.

"It does seem like a good Idea to get to know our allies." Cortana responded. Before dissipating as they turned to go down the hall to where they set up camp.

"Hey Ritsuka, Mash! This is Archer." The girl said to her comrades as they looked at him curiously. The Spartan just does a quick salute to them while they both stare at him.

"Nice to meet you, Archer." The fellow with the black hair stood up and greeted him.

"I am Ritsuka Fujimaru and this is Mashu," he said calmly introducing himself and Mashu to the newcomer. The purple one steps forward and introduces herself with a bow to greet Archer.

"I am Mashu Kryilight, Demi-servant to Senpai here. I would like to thank you for saving Gudako-senpai. We were so worried after the explosions at Chaldea." She said, rising from her bow.

The Master Chief returned her gesture with a salute. "I was just doing my duty to protect my commanding officer from hostile threats." The master chief responded. He inspected the duo, they both looked like they just went through a number of battles within a short time of each other. Yet despite this, they are still full of determination to stop what caused the city to burn.

"You sound like a man of few words." The boy said, getting the Spartans' attention.

"Senpai, don't be rude." Mashu reacted to Ritsuka's ignorance

"Ah, jeez…sorry! I didn't—"

"You can relax, he wasn't offended by your comment." Cortana chimed in as she appeared.

Upon seeing Cortana's appearance Mashu's face turned red and she quickly covered Ritsuka's eyes.

"Wh-who are you!?" She said in a flustered tone.

"I'm the Master Chief's AI Cortana, I was summoned alongside him as one of his noble phantasms. Nice to meet you Mash." Cortana answered.

"Oh…hello Cortana. I'm glad he didn't find Ritsuka's comment offensive." Mashu responded

Gudako started describing their encounter with the Assassin and how Master Chief beat him.

"Wait, he uses modern weaponry?" Mashu said curiously about Archer's weapons and armor.

"Yeah, I saw him using different kinds of guns. He even used some kind of double barrel Rocket Launcher. He also has thrusters and a grapple hook on his armor." Gudako said, pointing to the part of his armor.

"His armor has a lot more things than that." Cortana added to the conversation.

"What else does he have?" Asked Mashu who was curious as to his capabilities.

"I'm not going to tell you everything he has but among the handful of things I am willing to tell you, His armor possesses energy shields, motion tracker, a gel layer that regulates temperature and massively speeds up his reaction time, as well as a vacuum seal." Cortana answered with a prideful look on her face.

"Whoa…" Mashu and Ritsuka said, looking at the Master Chief's MJOLNIR armor.

Gudako POV

After a bit of quiet chit chat the boy spoke up.

"I'm sorry, Mashu," Ritsuka said with a defeated, apologetic look on his face.

"Sorry for what?" Mashu said, clearly confused.

"I keep putting you through hard fights, Mash. If your master was a first-rate mage instead of some third-rate commoner, your burden wouldn't be as heavy." He said as he was truly just a common magus just to act as backup for one of the more adept masters.

Gudako looked over to Archer, her brother's words matched how she felt about being his master. He was strong and incredibly lethal in a fight and now she was paired up with a master who cannot fight on her own.

"Even if you aren't the best with your role, what matters is that you are able to adapt and overcome the challenges set before you and lead your team to victory." The Master Chief said, surprising both of them.

"He is right, we're only human, we can't all be perfect, Senpai." Mashu added.

"I'm Happy that I could form a contract with you as a servant." She smiles. Her kind words cheered up and cleared the doubt they had as masters. Sure they aren't the only one right now. They need to finish the mission for the sake of those who died. Mashu then looked out the window at the dark colored sky wondering if this place had a clear blue sky once.

John POV

Meanwhile, Cortana was relaying the information she collected from Chaldea and the Director about what happened to the city.

"From what I learned, apparently there was a ritual held here called the 'Holy Grail War'. In this ritual Seven servants and master pairs battled for the wish granting holy grail." Cortana informed him. "According to Caster the servant that won was Saber who then caused all this destruction. From what I can gather the remaining servants are Saber, Archer, and Berserker." The master chief nodded at this information.

"All servants possess a crystallization of their legend in the form of a Noble Phantasm. It can range from an ability to a weapon that has devastating results when deployed. Servants can also have more than one Noble Phantasm such as how I am one of your Noble Phantasms. However a servant's true name is easier to figure out once it's deployed due to the need of calling out its name." Cortana said as he continued. "That was how I was able to decipher Assassin's name when he deployed his attack."

Once that was done Cortana Logged off and let the Spartan ponder this information. He would overcome these threats and stop them. After all, A soldier's duty is to protect humanity. And he was going to face them and fulfill that duty.

AN: I was thinking about what a story where the Master Chief was summoned as a Servant in FGO but I couldn't find any so I just decided to go "Fuck it! I'll do it myself."

Just to get rid of the plot details I'm having both protagonists in the story so I can have the excuse of one of them having the Chief as their servant while the other one gets Mashu. I'm also making them siblings because they technically have the last name in the game. I will also not be shipping Master Chief with anyone, it will be a similar situation to him and Captain Lasky in the "Forward Unto Dawn" movie.

About Master Chief.

I am having him use his Gen 3 MJOLNIR armor that he has in Halo Infinite so I can have him use all of that suits armor abilities and because It's my favorite design. Cortana's character will be like how she was before she stayed behind on high charity at the end of Halo 2. I have Cortana as a Noble Phantasm because it would make sense since Master Chief was paired with her during some of his most famous feats.

Servant wise, He's definitely a very strong servant due to his legendary status among humanity in his time and the insane feats he has accomplished. However he still has to follow the rules of servants as well. I will post his states in a later chapter.

The people of Chaldea will learn about the Human-Covenant War and some of Master Chief's accomplishments. I also am having it so that the CounterForce cannot hold influence past earth. So that it can make Some of Master Chief's accomplishments like blowing up installation 04, surviving the library, and activating Halo over the ark to stop the flood seem more spectacular and further cement his status as a hero. It would also make sense as humanity was losing badly for most of the war but were able to hold out for 2 months when the covenant arrived on earth.

Misc.

While this may start off similar to Seanathan311's story "Fate Grand Order: Slayer Chronicles." My story will deviate from his as it goes on. I simply intended to use his story as a sort of road map to get my story started. His method of getting Doomsayer to be summoned is a good one to start the story and make them summoned. I decided to change it so that instead of making a deal with someone he was summoned somewhat naturally. I may also have additional halo characters appear in the future but they will be summoned as servants.
