Hector opened his eyes, his body felt heavy as it took all his strength to turn his head to see the wooden ceiling and walls in the simple room he resided in. "Damn" he tried to say, instead, nonsensical baffling filled his ears. He noticed dark pink fleshy nubs grasping at the air, his confusion, hatred, and fear faded away as he closed his eyes out of exhaustion.
The next time Hector opened his eyes, the world looked quite different. He looked around, then looked at his hands, gone were the pink stubs, now, stubby, but definitely visible fingers flexed before him. His skin was lighter than he remembered, but then he realized his body was completely different.
"Taiga!" a woman called out. On instinct, the boy turned towards the voice. "Yes, big sis Rennei?!" He covered his mouth, surprised at how instinctual that was, then his mind was struck by a flurry of emotions. He was no longer Hector Rodriguez, 19-year old math major, coder, and resident stooge to megalomaniacal ex-friends. He was… "Gobetsu-Kaguya Taiga!" The woman called out sternly. Hector watched as a woman with pale skin, black hair, and a pair of red dots over her eyebrows walked towards him. "Goodness gracious Taiga, you keep running off, you know your mother called for this tutor, if you continue to disrespect him, you'll get into a lot of trouble."
"Sorry big sis…" Hector said, the child's memories giving him the language and information to say.
"It's alright." The young woman held her hand out for Hector, who took it and allowed her to take him out of the room.
"I'm… my name is Taiga Gobetsu-Kaguya." He began thinking. They passed through long hallways with ornate porcelain-colored statues and weapons adorning the walls and ceilings. Kanji for "warrior", "fighter", "killer", and "god" was littered on ceremonial cloths. "And this is the home of the Kaguya clan, the fiercest clan of Kirigakure, the Village Hidden in the Mist… This… this is…" He allowed his mind to race, but he hid his emotions from the caretaker, who was busy reciting things.
"Remember, a Kaguya must always be proud, stubborn, viscous, a Kaguya is a killer, don't be like the young lord, or else you'll be disappointed too, you don't want your mom to be disappointed with you, right?"
"This is the world of Naruto… but… why did I end up here? Why would he let me travel there? Can he control what happens? Dammit Jeremy, why did you do this to me?"
Rennei, a fellow branch member of the Kaguya clan and the youngest sister of Taiga's mother, frowned. Taiga had always been an odd child, while he never cried, he had times where he'd seem to zone out, and stop concentration, the elders feared that, like Kimimaro, he was a passive child, and the more radical of the warriors believed that his diluted blood was what caused this weakness. Taiga had skin as dark as the earth, with platinum blond, nearly white thick hair, the only signs of his heritage being the pair of red dots over his eyebrow, even the signature zig-zag hair parting was not in the center of the boy's head, instead, it lay at a third, on the right side of his face, his eyes were also odd, as they gleamed in an amber, almost gold color as opposed to the grays or blues of either clan. Regardless of his appearance or lack of 'pure blood', she cared for the child and wanted to see him succeed. Taiga for his part, being only 2, was still too young to notice the animosity the clan treated him with, but that was why his mother had ordered this tutor. Taiga, while not acting as the standard Kaguya child behavior-wise, inherited the clan's strong Yang Chakra. He was tall and strong for his age, capable of walking and even running like a non-clan member three times his age, though this was standard to all Kaguya clan members. What made Taiga stand out was his freakish intelligence, he learned to speak a few words at merely 6 months, and could read before he could even walk. His mother wished to capitalize on his intelligence and called for a tutor if her child could read, who could learn how to use chakra, and, if they were lucky, he may have inherited either bloodline of their clans. The Kaguya Clan's Dead Bone Pulse or the Gobetsu-Clan's two Kekkei Genkai, Black Lightning, and Storm Release.
"Eternalism dictates that every possibility is both true and false, as the multiverse theory but on crack, a certain procedure or sacrifice is required to cross over, what happens is… you have someone bear the burden, someone to test the waters, and a real agent to take the jump. The fact I'm… alive, but was likely born, means I was the one to test the waters. But… who bore the burden? And who will make the jump?" Hector's eyes narrowed in thought, "regardless, I'm not Hector, Hector is dead, I just need to figure out the end goal, and determine whether I want to come back or stay. Who am I kidding, I need to come back and drive a bullet in between his eyes, but… I won't be able to touch him…"
Jeremy had surprised them all when he demonstrated superpowers, things that they thought only existed in fictional stories were right before them. Jeremy stated that his powers were magical in nature, but they seemed so… scientific in their design and approach, he had told them that he knew how to get them powers too, but… only a third of them survived the event and came back home but people kept flocking to him, the promise of power tying them to him. Then when it came Hector's turn, he found out the price to be "isekai'ed", and he couldn't bear the cost, his brother could though, but he died, alongside his best friends. Hector had been the last living member of his family, but now, he was dead. All because of Jeremy.
"Taiga, bow to your tutor please."
Hector blinked, he cleared his thoughts and turned to look at the tutor his aunt referred to. He was a young man with dark brown hair and thick bangs. He had tan skin and relatively thick lips and looked at Taiga with dark blue, almost soulless eyes. Taiga blinked but felt slight revulsion, the look in the man's eyes were like Jeremy's, lacking soul or completeness.
"Is this the brat you wanted me to take care of?" The young man looked at Rennei, "really? He's not even 4, is he? I don't hold back on brats."
"Of course, Raiga-sama, but you will find Taiga to be an intelligent and receptive student, and, this will be helpful to you as well, would it not be?" She asked, "I understand your leader has plans, plans that may require my clan's aide. My eldest sister is the Clan Head's brother, and this is her son. If you can help him, it would be most agreeable to her, and she'd be very willing to help your leader and his goals.
Raiga Kurosuki clenched his teeth and clicked his tongue, "damn, fine, I'll take care of your little brat, but he will follow my orders without question, am I understood?"
Taiga looked around, then at Raiga, he kept his thoughts to himself as he spoke. "I'll follow your orders sir, as long as they're actually meant to make me stronger."
"Pftt…" Raiga chuckled, "well, aren't you a cheeky brat…"
…
"Taiga!" Rennei ran out into the training pavilion. "You're keeping Lady Shinai waiting!" She looked at the ceiling. Watching the young boy who sprinted across the ceiling, held aloft by chakra to the feet.
"Sorry, auntie!" The boy leaped off the ceiling and began to fall 30 feet towards the ground, before he landed, he flipped in the air and moved his hands into signs. Dog, Horse, Bird. (FUTON: TOPPA) "Wind Release!" He took in a deep breath, "Breakthrough!" He blew a gust of wind, cushioning the air beneath him. He landed safely and smiled at Rennei. "I was training. I'm sorry!"
The older woman of the Kaguya clan shook her head. "Child, I am glad you are improving yourself, but you know what today is, if you are too tired to compete, the lady shall look shameful.
"I understand…" Taiga nodded. "I am still ready and able to fight through auntie."
"Good, follow me."
Taiga passed by the training room as he followed his aunt to the main pavilion, the Kaguya clan often used open-air walkways between buildings to catch as much sunlight as the Village Hidden in the Mist could afford them, though this was made easier due to the 4 Mizukage's actions in forcing most Bloodline clans to the outskirts of the village. Taiga knew why, as Hector was a big enough fan of Naruto to take the time to learn and understand the dynamics of other villages as well as their history. For that reason, he also knew that his clan was on a timer, but it was relatively hard for him to care, for several reasons.
"Ah, if it isn't the mutt, tell me," A Kaguya clan member walked past them, "how's the slut doing?"
"Don't you dare talk about Lady Shinai that way!" Rennei growled.
"Oh, but you knew who I was talking about already." The clan member had no eyebrows and a vacant yet psychotic gaze about him. He turned to look at Taiga, "hey, shit-stain, I heard you're old enough to prove your mettle, I'm surprised they even let a disgrace like you show up, try not to embarrass yourself in front of the 'pure-bloods', mutt." He laughed and walked off.
"That was… unnecessarily rude," Taiga muttered. He turned to look at Rennei's apologetic and worried look, which somehow made him feel worse about the encounter, "Rennei, I'm okay, besides, today I'm going to prove that I am worthy of the Kaguya heritage." He grinned brightly, his platinum blond hair bobbing as he walked. Rennei smiled at him.
"I and my sister certainly believe in you, young master."
They made their way unto a huge building, the main pavilion, and fighting hall. Taiga looked on in interest at the tapestry before him, it was of a woman with flowing white hair, zig-zag hair parting, and bone sticking from her head almost like rabbit ears.
"Kaguya," Taiga said.
"Hmm?" Rennei turned to look at Taiga, but at the boy's silence, she simply turned back and led him through the tapestry.
The adults of the clan sat side by side, dogeza style, while a massive amount of the children of the clan gathered in the center circle. Taiga quickly joined the rest of the children and noted with interest that it looked like the children ranged in ages of 4 to 8, with the largest and oldest children being over 5 feet tall. Taiga looked around, almost all the children of the Kaguya clan had the same features, thick strong black eyebrows, a pair of red dots over the eyebrows, and red lining underneath their eyes almost like an upside-down red eyeshadow, zig-zag hair partings for thick smooth black hair. While they had a range of physical appearances and different complexions from pale to tan, they were all very far on the north side of "probably not black." Which made Taiga and his features stand out even more in comparison to the rest of the children, many of whom glared at him with curiosity, suspicion, derision, or outright hatred. Taiga looked around, ignoring their looks until his eyes rested on the child most everyone else was looking at. He had shoulder-length pure white hair and thin white eyebrows, and his physical appearance was smooth with a tapered chin, giving him a very girlish or at the very least effeminate appearance, despite that, he still had the red dots and red lines underneath his eyes that signified a member of the Kaguya Clan, his most interesting feature however outside of his hair were his eyes, while almost the entire clan had black or gray eyes, Kimimaro had irises that were a bright teal and blue, a color so clear and bright it was as if a painter dotted his eyes to draw one to them. For his part, the young master of the Kaguya clan paid no mind to his clan mate's stares and had his eyes fixed on the ground.
Taiga could hear the muttering of the clansmen.
"So… that's the mutt of the Gobetsu clan."
"He doesn't look that special, I heard Shinai begged our leader to allow him to receive special training."
"To think, he needed special training?" Another laughed.
"I heard he was able to speak and read at very young ages."
"So by mixing our blood with that of an inferior bloodline, we get a bookworm? How impressive." Another said sarcastically. "He hasn't even utilized the Kekkei Genkai's of the respective clans, and there were three of them!"
"At least he can hide behind his inferior bloodline, what about Kimimaro? He is the son of the leader, yet he has not a violent bone in his body, the first time his father trained him, the boy cried. And I've heard he's not much better now, he is the first Kaguya in a long time to have such a gifted body, yet he neither shows the truth of the bloodline nor the ferocity it entails."
"Kimimaro may not have awakened the Shikotsumyaku, Dead Bone Pulse, but we haven't had a clan member awaken the technique for dozens of years, at this point, it might just be a myth."
Taiga raised an eyebrow at that, Kimimaro hadn't awakened his bloodline yet? That was odd. He turned to look at the boy, who clearly was having trouble keeping their words from his head. Kimimaro, according to Taiga's mother, was two years his senior, and interestingly enough was the result of a combination of bloodlines, but only slightly. Kimimaro's mother could trace part of her ancestry to the Yuki clan, and it seemed that the delicate features of that clan were passed down to her child. Kimimaro's mother died giving birth, however, which was considered a bad omen to the Kaguya clan, so, much like Taiga, Kimimaro had faced some ostracization from his fellow clan members, but for his perceived softness, as opposed to due to simply being.
The muttering stopped when the clan head made his way down the hall. He was a tall man, standing at 6 foot 3, he towered over his attendants, and especially over the women and men at his side, his siblings, and the most influential members of the clan after him and the elders. Taiga held in a breath as he took in the appearance of his mother, Shinai.
Shinai was a tall woman, standing at 5 feet and 11 inches, she was covered in a pure white kimono, much like the rest of the women of the clan sitting to partake in today's events. Her black hair was neatly arranged in four buns while also leaving enough for bangs and a ponytail. Her bright gray eyes seemed somber as she elegantly walked at her elder brother's side, before she glanced at all the children, her eyes barely registered Taiga's presence before she took a seat on a cushion. She was seated three people away from the clan head, signifying her position as one of the more influential members of the clan, even with many of the members insulting he behind her back, Shinai was feared for her taijutsu, weapon, and poison skills.
"We're gathered today to test the meddle of this new generation of Kaguya clan children." The patriarch of the clan smirked, "now, I'm certain you feel impatient, so we shall simply get this show on the road." He smirked at the children, "like always, this will be in the style of a battle royal." He nodded as several sticks, knives, clubs, and knuckle-dusters were tossed into the center. "There are 160 children, and only 30 will leave alive today."
Taiga widened his eyes in shock, noticing that Kimimaro had the same expression of surprise. The other children, regardless of their countenance before, began to flash insane smiles that seemed to mirror the rest of the room. Taiga turned to look around, until he rested his eyes on Rennei, then noted that even she had a grin she seemed to try and suppress. "I guess unbridled bloodlust is really a trait of this clan…" Taiga said, sighing. He looked around until he found a bo-staff that was slightly thicker at the ends, it was a short staff, only 4 feet tall, but it was still taller than him, who stood at only about 40 inches, or 3 foot 4 inches, or 101.6 centimeters. He made his way quietly through the crowd, of children, excitedly reaching for their favorite weapons, before stopping in front of Kimimaro. "Hey." He began.
The white-haired boy glared at him, "what do you want?"
Taiga handed Kimimaro a pair of tonfas. "Can you use these?" He asked. Kimimaro nodded. "Good," Taiga continued, "now, I don't want to shed blood, I assume you don't either." He didn't wait for Kimimaro's response, "so let's try and cover each other's back, okay?" He didn't see Kimimaro nod when the sound of a gong being smashed rung through the air and all hell broke loose.
The first thing Taiga did was concentrate chakra into his staff. He had learned his chakra nature from Raiga and had been disappointed to find out that his base nature was earth, and a weak earth nature at that, but Taiga provided adequate training in the nature type, and due to a mix of Taiga's youth and Hector's general intelligence, the boy achieved mastery of the nature type, he also learned the basics of every nature type and learned happily that he had a base affinity for yang chakra. The first person to charge towards him was a lumbering 8-year-old, he was a mammoth of a child, almost as large as some of the smaller adults Naruto had seen, he was carrying a large blade and raised it up to slice down on Taiga's head. Taiga placed one end of the staff on the ground, and with practiced precision, caught the blade with the other end of the staff. The boy shouted in shock as his blade shattered. Taiga then kicked the boy in the stomach and pressed a finger hard into one of his pressure points, driving a bit of chakra into the boy. He collapsed, writhing in pain. Taiga turned to Kimimaro, only to duck as the older child swung the tonfa into the face of two charging Kaguya clan children.
"Thanks!" Taiga said.
Kimimaro just nodded as the two stood back up, side by side.
The Kaguya clan children unlucky enough to target either Taiga or Kimimaro were in for a world of hurt, while physically weaker than the average Kaguya clan child, Taiga made up for this weakness by his greater martial skill and chakra control ingrained into him by Raiga. Due to his accelerated learning, and slight cheating by being enough of a weeb to remember different aspects of the Naruto-verse, he had quite a few tricks up his arsenal that he was itching to try out in case things got hairy, which they did when several of the other children, tired of either being slaughtered by others or disabled by the pair of children ahead of them banded together to attack Kimimaro and Taiga.
Taiga smirked as the children ran towards him. He began to stir the chakra within him. Ox, Boar, Horse, he then clapped his hands as he activated a genjutsu. The leaders of the crowd began to stumble, which tripped up the children behind them. At the same time, some of the others began to swing with reckless abandoning, cutting into, and harming each other. Taiga blinked in shock at the effectiveness and brutality of his attack, which caused him to drop the genjutsu before it could do any real damage.
"You know genjutsu?" Kimimaro asked, shocked, only to be struck in the head by a staff. Taiga barely recovered from his shock to block the attack. By pouring earth nature chakra into his staff and concentrating it on his body, he was able to increase his defense against the children, but he couldn't help but feel revulsion as his common sense began attempting to fight for control. At some point, he had begun to enjoy the fighting, and slaughter was it the blood that flowed in him? But as he looked at the grinning children before him, he felt himself wavering. He noticed belatedly that other children had ganged up on Kimimaro, he wanted to move to stop them, but he lacked the strength to get to them. Realizing that he had little choice, he pressed on a tenketsu point, feeling chakra begin to flood his system. "FUTON: DAITOPPA!" (Wind Release: Great Breakthrough). A strong gust of wind was released from the casting of Taiga's jutsu. This served two purposes, the first was knocking away several children from Kimimaro, the second was to send Taiga flying into the air. He landed on a pillar and used chakra to hold on to it. Taiga had experimented with things he was knowledgeable of in the series, the first success had been in manipulating tenketsu points, he emulated the release of chakra akin to the power of the Gate of View, or, also known as the Gate of Joy, it was a filler only technique, but given the fact that Raiga was alive despite having been killed by Might Duy in the manga, he could assume that other 'filler', was likely real. The power unleashed by the technique was insane, but the pain from his muscles tearing would kill him if he went all out. Luckily, it was weaker than the actual 6th gate by leaps and bounds, and he only felt his chakra and physical limit increase to that of perhaps a high chunin according to Raiga. He surveyed the battlefield and held in the bile that threatened to spew out of his body. Children dying left and right, killed by other children, as Kaguya clan members cheered them on, parents of those who died simply spat at their children's corpses, while others who still lived were yelled at to continue fighting. The only one who seemed not to smile, Taiga noted, was his mother, but she had taken to time to stare up at him as he surveyed the carnage before him.
"This is the Kaguya clan…" Taiga thought to himself, and he had been participating in it as if it was second nature. He knew that he had said he wasn't Hector any longer, but was it really that easy to change someone's nature, or had what Jeremy had done to him screwed him up even more than he'd have thought? He was cut from his soliloquy when he saw that several children who had been surrounding Kimimaro were impaled in massive spikes of bone. The clan members looked on in interest, cheering as the first Shikotsumyaku member in 80 years was finally born. Kimimaro was gripping his body in pain as his bones stuck out, and, as Kimimaro was unable to control himself, fired off from his body with reckless abandon, unable to control their power or where they aimed. Taiga noticed that he was riddled in wounds from the attacks from the other children, but many of those cuts, bruises, and scratches were healing rapidly. Despite the cheering coming from the clan members, Taiga could notice that two people had faces twisted in despair, he looked to see his mother, looking on at Kimimaro, while Kimimaro himself had tears streaming down his cheeks as he attempted to stop the bones that continuously shot from his body.
Taiga made a decision then. He remembered that despite how cool Naruto was, the world itself was fundamentally flawed and cruel, he remembered how Naruto's dream shifted from that of wanting the love and attention of the villagers to understanding the flaws of the system he lived under and striving to fix it for the better, as a Hokage, he would fix the ninja world, in a peaceful path, so that no one would have to suffer again. He glanced at Kimimaro's father, whose face was twisted in hatred and fear, and realized what would happen, win or lose. Kimimaro would be turned into a weapon by his father. He needed to stop Kimimaro, then somehow save him, before that happened. He leaped down and charged towards Kimimaro. Before the latter could react, he rolled under the child and activated Wind Release: Great Breakthrough once more, launching Kimimaro into the air. He then activated Genjutsu, which caused Kimimaro to stiffen, before falling asleep. Before Taiga could say or do anything else, the clan leader stood.
"Stop!" He raised his hand, "Those who have lived, have proven themselves worthy, we shall allow them time to recover." At his words, the Kaguya clan adults began to woop and smash their feet on the floor. At the same time, he nodded to several clansmen who grabbed the unconscious Kimimaro. Taiga was about to speak, when a massive blow struck him on the back of the head and he blacked out.
…
Afterword:
Hey! Thanks for checking out this new story! I'm a big fan of Naruto, and I hope you guys enjoy this odd little fic of mine!
For those who may not remember, the Gobetsu clan is the clan Darui, A (The 4th Raikage), and A (The Third Raikage), all belonged to. They are a clan known for having tough bodies and high vitality (given the examples of the third and fourth raikage), as well as having Black Lightning and Raton (Storm Release) Kekkei Genkai.
Now, the Kaguya clan is depicted in this series as extremely, irredeemably bloodthirsty, which, might seem weird, especially given the fact that they are only known as that by the Kirigakure and by reputation when given by Kimimaro, so I took some liberties, here and there. Thanks for reading!
Of course, since our World Jumper here is in Kirigakure, he's got a good opportunity to change a few things.
