A/N: Well. I wasn't sure if I was going to make this story public, but... decided I'd share it anyway. I've mostly been sharing this with a couple online friends of mine who also helped me with this.
I've been bedridden and all I've been doing is writing, writing, writing, never stop. I'm 6 chapters in so far as I post this prologue, so. I hope you enjoy this new take. This new journey.
Note: This is an AU of sorts. There are angels, other creatures are unknown thus far. Mary, John, Sam and Dean are one big happy(somewhat normal) family(if happy is what you wanna call it), that's all I'm giving on them so far.
Warnings(so far)(I will list the warnings again in the chapters they apply to): Abuse, mentions of torture, alcohol abuse, language and homophobia.
Without further ado. The prologue.
Chapter 1: Prologue
Warning: Mentions of abuse and torture
"Angels, were once mighty Celestial Guardians.
Humans looked up to us, prayed to us, day and night for little and big things. We heard their prayers. All of them. And aided them as we could, but we were not as All Powerful as Him. Little by little, humanity began to lose faith in us. They stopped praying. They forsook us. And for that, we Fell. When the humans discovered we were real, instead of surprise and relief, they greeted us with hatred and greed. Over the years, Angels were being tortured, caged, and sold to the highest bidder. Today-"
"Will you keep it down up there!" The shopkeeper tapped his metal pole on the cage. "I've got a splitting headache today."
"Today is my 100th day here." Gabriel finished, smiling down mischievously at his little brother in the cage below him, sneaking a wink.
He didn't wink back, didn't even smile, but stared up at him with wonder.
"Yeah and it's no wonder, you never shut up." The owner said as he checked the other cages around the rooms.
Gabriel rolled his eyes, mocking the owner silently behind his back as he mumbled on.
After a few more seconds, he mouthed 'watch this' to his younger brother, before smiling.
"Hey Joe, you wanna hear a joke?"
The owner, along with some of the angels groaned in annoyance.
"Why, did the Angel cross the road?" Gabriel asked excitedly.
A couple other angels groaned.
"Oh come on, I haven't even told the punchline yet!" Gabriel practically whined, watching as the owner sat down at the computer a few feet away, "Come on, ask me why!"
"Will you shut up if I answer?" The shopkeeper asked.
Gabriel squealed excitedly.
"Ugh. Why?" Joe rolled his eyes.
"…To get to the other side!" Gabriel said as if it was the funniest thing he'd ever heard.
The shopkeeper only rolled his eyes again, mumbling something about not getting paid enough.
"Get it? Other. Side?! Cause we're Angels! But we… Fell!" Gabriel said, laughing at his own joke.
An alarm went off from the shopkeeper's phone and he stood after a few minutes, heading for the door.
"Well. We're open. If we're lucky. You'll be out of my store today." He muttered as he unlocked the door and switched the sign to open.
"You been saying that for the last 99 days. And the past hundred locations I've been to before that." Gabriel said, but lacked some humor in his voice that time.
The shopkeeper ignored him and went somewhere else in the store that needed tending to.
Only ten minutes passed and the bell chimed signaling a person walking through the door.
Gabriel felt tugging at his pant leg, and looked down to see Castiel's hand, or whatever he could fit of it reaching into his cage.
He met him halfway, his hand closing around his tightly.
Gabriel smiled reassuringly at him, at least, as best as he could.
Their hands never seemed to separate as they watched people come and go from the store.
Until…
A/N: There is your short short prologue. But don't worry. Chapters get longer. Somehow.
Anyway. Let me know what you think so far. I'm gonna be doing a lot of different writing styles with this one.
