TW: sexual assault, suicidal ideation

The BAU had just got called into a case. 2 children have disappeared in Virginia. Since this was a local case, the team decided to work from their office in Quantico. The team was sitting in the briefing room discussing the case.

"Lily(15) and Charlotte(10) are the two victims. They both were foster kids, moving from home to home. They disappeared today a few hours ago and they were last seen in a van heading north," Penelope briefed the team as she turned the TV on to show the pictures.

"They were sisters and their biological parents passed away in a car accident when they both were really young " JJ read from the file.

"Ok, Reid work on a geographic profile, JJ and Emily talk to the foster parents, Morgan go talk to the witnesses who last saw them, " Hotch delegated tasks.

Lily and Charlotte were freezing as they sat in the white van. Lily tried to keep her little sister as warm as possible, but she herself was scared and cold. She didn't know where they were going, she just knew it wasn't good. Her foster parents had just thrown them out of their house onto the street and the next thing she knew her and her sister were being picked up by 2 random men.

"Where are we going?" Charlotte whispered.

"I don't know yet, just stay awake and try and I'll keep you safe" Lily ensured.

After what seemed like hours, they finally stopped. The door to the van opened and two men dragged each of them into the house. Both girls were kicking and screaming as they were being dragged. Lily managed to punch one of them in the face.

"Ouch you stupid bitch, you are gonna regret that" shouted the man as he continued to drag her into the house. Both the girls, struggling, as they were tied to the ground in the basement. Then the two men went back upstairs locking the door behind them.

"I'm scared" Charlotte whispered.

"It's ok, stay strong" Lily reassured, even though she herself was scared.

Back at the BAU, things were moving slowly, Reid had narrowed down some places where they could have been taken. JJ and Emily had talked to the foster parents, but they got nothing because these parents didn't care about them. However, Morgan had spoken to the witness who saw the girls and got a license plate number for the van and discovered that there were two men in their late 30s in the van. The team moved quickly to rescue the girls.

The basement door opened and the two men stumbled back down, both drunk and loud. Charlotte curled up into a ball and started crying.

"What do you want with us?" Lily asked.

"Shut up," one of the men shouted and slapped Lily hard in the face.

"Lets teach her a lesson," said the other guy as he unchained Lily and tied her back up to a bed.

Lily was struggling, fighting as hard as she could but they were two strong for her. Charlotte was screaming trying to help save her sister from the unspeakable but it simply was not enough. Lily was raped and Charlotte had to watch them take turns as they took away her sister's innocence. When they were both done, they went back upstairs and locked the basement door.

"Lily, are you ok?" Charlotte asked.

"Yeah" Lily lied.

Lily couldn't think anymore, she just wanted to die. Although it wasn't her first time being raped, she was still raped. She began to wonder if this was all she came into the world for as she cried until her exhaustion took over.

The team had just gotten the coordinates from Garcia and they headed to the location. When they got there, they saw the white van and cleared it before they headed into the house. They broke through the door and they saw the two men there sitting in their underwear watching TV and drinking. JJ and Emily quickly searched the house for the two girls as Morgan and Hotch cuffed the two men. When they reached the basement, they breathed a sigh of relief. JJ quickly ran over to Lily to cover her with her FBI jacket and untied her as Emily helped Charlotte. They both helped them out to the ambulances. Lily had just sat there staring out into the space thinking about what her life has become. Charlotte was worried for her sister and for herself as they had to go to another foster home after this which could be worse. JJ and Emily was trying to comfort these girls in any way they could. They felt bad, reading through their files from their time in foster care and now this, they couldn't imagine what they were going through right now.

"I feel so bad for these girls, they deserve so much more than this," Emily said.

JJ nodded, tears threatening to spill as they climbed into the ambulance to help take them to the hospital.

Once they got to the hospital, the sisters were split up, but Emily went with Charlotte and JJ with Lily. Charlotte was examined, she had minor cuts and bruises. She was also able to speak with Emily about what happened to her and her sister.

Lily was in a bad mental state and she seemed unaware of what was going on around her.

"Lily," JJ said as she shook her.

Lily stared at JJ and started to cry as she collapsed into JJ's arms. JJ felt a connection with Lily and wanted to help her.

"They have to examine you now," JJ said as she wiped the tears from Lily's face.

"Stay with me please," Lily whimpered.

"Of course," JJ replied.

Lily struggled through her examination but held tight to JJ's hand as they poked and prodded her body. Once Lily was done with her examination, she started to go back into her headspace staring at the wall. JJ headed back out to see Emily.

"I want to take care of these girls," JJ stated.

"I agree," Emily replied, without hesitation. She knew from the moment they started this case that JJ would want to foster these kids and they both have been wanting children of their own. They both smiled and hugged each other before telling everyone and setting the plans in place.

They had moved Lily and Charlotte into the same room, so they could have each other to comfort. JJ and Emily both came in after they were approved to take the girls home and took a seat on the hospital chairs.

"What's going to happen now?" Charlotte asked.

"We have decided to foster you two," Emily replied.

Lily and Charlotte looked at each other, uneasiness in both of their eyes, as they found it hard to trust anyone. The profilers caught on and they ensured that they wouldn't hurt them and that this would be their forever home.

"When can we leave?" Charlotte asked.

"Tomorrow morning, you two should get some rest" JJ replied.

Lily turned away from everyone, trying her best not to fall asleep as she was scared, but soon her tiredness took over. Charlotte went back to her own bed struggling to fall asleep as well from the events that happened today. JJ and Emily stayed in the room, just in case they needed them, they wanted the girls to know that they were there.

A couple hours later, Lily woke up in a sweat. She had a nightmare from an earlier foster home. She sat up in the bed and saw Charlotte sleeping peacefully and JJ sleeping on Emily' s shoulder. She got up to go to the bathroom, staring at herself in the mirror. She had seen the number of injuries she got today. Her mind kept wandering. She wondered what JJ and Emily were like, she wondered if they were gonna abuse them too, she wondered why her old foster parents threw her and Charlotte out, she wondered why she couldn't protect herself from what happened today, she wondered if she was gonna be able to protect her sister. Her mind was racing that she didn't even notice Emily standing in the doorway.

"Calm down, Lily, you need to breathe" Emily said.

Lily snapped back in Emily's direction, surprised to see her there. But by this time Lily was having a full-on panic attack.

"Breathe with me," Emily said as she tried to calm Lily down without waking the others.

Lily sat on the bathroom floor with Emily trying to breathe.

"You wanna talk about it?" Emily asked.

Lily shrugged. Emily sighed knowing it was gonna be hard for these girls to open up to them since their trust has been broken so many times.

"Lets go back to bed," Emily suggested as she helped Lily back into her bed.

Lily turned away and stared at the wall, hoping she would stay awake to avoid her dreams. When the morning came, Lily had gotten a total of 2 hours of sleep. JJ and Emily saw Lily's dark circles under her eyes and looked at each other worryingly.

"Can we get the discharge papers?" Emily asked the doctor.

"Sure thing," the doctor replied.

And with that, the newly formed family was off to begin this new journey with each other.
