Hello, everyone! Welcome to my FIRST EVER House fanfiction. I am super excited for this. I absolutely love House, M.D., and I am ready to give my take on everything. This will be a House/Cameron pairing. I do not own House, M.D., nor do I own any characters.Warning: Will contain mature content. Not every chapter will be rated M, but the story is rated M for language, sexual content, and adult themes (smoking, drinking, drugs). Disclaimer: I am new to House fanfiction and I am no doctor. I don't know the medical terms for every disease. Google is my source of information and I am sorry if I get things wrong.
Enjoy!
"Okay, differential diagnosis, people," Doctor Gregory House paused as he let his diagnostic team respond.
"Spinal stenosis," Foreman said. "It would explain the numbness and pain in his back."
"What about the sharp pain in his chest?" Chase retorted. "He had shortness of breath. That's not a symptom of stenosis."
"I'm thinking it's an Aortic Aneurysm," Cameron looked up from the file. "All the symptoms fit."
House rolled his eyes and looked back to the white board, back turned to the team. "You're missing a very key element. His heartbeat wasn't normal."
"A dissection," Cameron responded.
"Bingo," House nodded in her direction. "Angio his heart, get a TEE and MRA."
Foreman lifted an eyebrow. "What about a chest X-Ray? It would confirm something faster than all the other tests."
"Already done," House shoved the scan into Foreman's hands. "Now scram. You have work to do."
"If House is wrong, this guy's gonna die." Foreman looked at Chase.
"He's not wrong," Cameron said quickly. She continued the test. Luckily, the the patient couldn't hear them talking.
Chase frowned. "Why are you sticking up for him so much? He's not nice to you."
"He does his job."
"Barely." Both Chase and Foreman laughed.
Cameron rolled her eyes. "What do you mean, 'barely?' House is really good at what he does. You both are just jealous of him." She stared at the screen, monitoring the patient's vitals.
Foreman lifted his right eyebrow. "Jealous? Of House? Yeah, you wish. I don't aspire to be an angry cripple."
"Oh are my ears burning!" House walked in. "Sorry, did I interrupt your little chat?"
Foreman smirked. "No, we were just finishing up."
"Two points for Doctor Cameron."
"Because she complimented you..." Foreman questioned.
"No, because her blouse is cut low and I can see those busty ta-ta's." House looked at Cameron and then back to Foreman. "But an extra two because she complimented me." He limped out. "Oh yeah," He added. "I'm not wrong. You won't kill the patient."
Sighing, Foreman grabbed the clipboard next to him and left.
Cameron finished up the last test and headed to House's office.
"The TEE showed a dissection of the aoertal walls. I'm starting him on beta blockers."
House stared at her for three seconds before saying, "Great job. You just killed him."
Cameron was shocked at his reaction, "What?"
"The patient has acute liver failure. A single dose of this medicine would send his liver into shambles," House paused. "Where did you get your medical license? Do better."
Cameron couldn't believe that she missed something so important. She almost didn't tell House about the medication. She just told him because it came up. She would have killed him.
"It's okay, Cameron. We all mess up sometimes. Mistakes are okay," House said mockingly. "Except when they're not. Like when you're a doctor."
Sulking, Cameron left House's office. She ruminated on her almost-mistake for the rest of the day.
"Not so fun when he's mad at you, is it?" Foreman quipped as he passed Cameron in the hallway.
She rolled her eyes. "I almost killed the patient. House saved me from making that mistake."
"It doesn't give him a right to berate you."
"It kinda does." She crossed her arms but kept walking.
Cameron really pissed Foreman off sometimes. The way she sucked up to House, no matter what. She always took his side even when he was unmistakably rude to her. She never gave up. House was blameless in her eyes. At least she acted like he was. Any sensical person would think she was sleeping with him. But, Foreman knew she wasn't. She had tried to date House a year ago, but he had turned her down despite everything. That was besides the point. Cameron had a very forgiving nature.
"Still wallowing in self-pity, I see." Dr. House limped into his office.
Dr. Cameron sat in the dark room, staring blankly into space. She didn't answer.
"Cameron?"
She remained in the same position, eyes fixed on the wall.
He shook her. "Cameron!" He yelled. "Wake up!"
Cameron jerked. "What happened? Why are you yelling?"
"You just had an absence seizure."
