Pokémon Trainer Hero
Chapter 64: An Interesting First Day Back
Monday had arrived once again and with it the craziness of the week and people to accompany it. Although Gar had been given the option to simply not attend anymore, since he was no longer a secret, Gar decided to attend anyway to kill time out of the day. Since he really couldn't leave with so much of the press after him all the time for the Sports Festival, his kidnapping by the Police which somehow got leaked, and the rumor of his involvement with the raid on UA and the strange storm that seemed to destroy the President's heavily secured office. Needless to say, things seemed crazy just on the first day back. Once he left his dorm, he was instantly swarmed by several dozen students all asking him about everything that happened the other day with the Police and the attack on the Government building with the strange flying creature! Gar could barely get a breath in as he was utterly swamped by questions and camera phones! So he pushed through the crowd and ran for the classroom! Once there he slammed the door shut with the muffled sound of the man students being blocked by the thick wood door!
Gar finally took a breath of relief while turning around to lean his back on the door. When he opened his eyes he saw many of his classmates standing around and staring at him. Gar stood off the wall and looked back at all of them. He didn't even need to ask to know what they were all thinking.
He sighs at their expressions and says with a hand on his face, "Not now you guys. I know what you're all thinking, but can you please just not for today. I feel like I should've just skipped today or just this whole week."
Suddenly Iida stepped in, waving his arms, and proclaiming in everyone's stead, "I'm sorry if we stress you out Gar! We're not trying to ask it-!"
Jiro finished up Iida's explanation while twirling her jacks, "But it is a little hard not to think about it."
"I get that, but just no questions about everything until later in the week if possible." Gar moaned before the door behind him was swiftly opened and slammed shut.
He turned around and saw Izuku standing at the doorway in a similar state as he was just moments before. Izuku turns around with a sigh and sees the whole class staring at him. It takes him a moment to realize Gar is not even two feet away with a painful expression on his face.
"Oh no, not you too?!", Gar groans in self-shame as Izuku nods silently. Gar slaps his face with both hands and moans into them like he's in pain. After pulling his hands away he takes Izuku's hands and says apologetically, "I'm so sorry Izuku, this is all my fault. If only I hadn't dragged you out that day or just stayed in, none of this would've followed you!"
Izuku quickly shook his head and disagreed with his statement, exclaiming, "No no no no no! Don't apologize, it's not your fault. No one would have guessed what happened."
Gar shook his head in reply, and stated back, "No, it is my fault. I didn't want to drag you or anyone into my drama!"
"Oh come on, it isn't your fault at all. We got through it, so that's all that matters, right?", Izuku asked with a smile.
Only to watch Gar deflate at the kindness and pitiful fight back, "Yeah, but-."
Though Izuku pressed on and reminded him, "We did have fun at the dog park, right?", Gar said nothing in reply and looked away as he continued, "Remember when Boltund tripped over that dirt clump and just kept running while laying in the ground, and Houndoom just looked at us concerned."
Gar couldn't help but crack a smile and said back, "Yeah, that was pretty funny. Boltund was never bright, especially for an Electric-type. Apart from…..earlier that day, it was pretty nice.", He said with a smile returning.
However their tender moment was cut off with Aizawa standing between them and said with a tired demand, "If you two are done, I'd like to get to the door.", The two boys released one another and slid away from the door as the teacher opened it, causing the ruckus from outside to die down. "Scram, all of you. Or I'll tell your homeroom teachers to keep you after hours for personal training with me.", Aizawa told the group of students, leading to a sound similar to a herd of stampeding animals.
With everyone gone and the halls quiet once more, Gar rubs the back of his head while saying to the man, "Thanks Eraserhead. I owe you one. At least my day will be somewhat quiet."
"Don't mention it, but since you offered. I do wanna speak with you about the rumors.", Aizawa inquired boldly and straightforwardly.
Gar almost freezes up at the suddenness of this, but concedes with a sigh while adding, "Only with Nezu and Midnight there. They can fill in other pieces or gaps in my memory. Lots had happened.", To which he nods in agreement, and the day progresses as normal.
A Few Hours Later
Aizawa is giving his lecture just before lunch hour, the class intensely listening to everything he says, while Gar has his eyes closed and head leaning back to relax. Everything is at ease until something suddenly slammed the classroom door open so hard and loud that it causes everyone to jump in surprise! Even Aizawa was so spooked that he activated his quirk on reflex! But once he sees who had shaken them all so badly, he calms down and gets annoyed instead. At the doorway, he sees none other than the Full Moon Hero: Mirko, holding a newspaper and laughing hysterically!
The tired man growls and glares at the rabbit woman before demanding in a scolding, "Mirko, what in the world are you doing here?! And why are you here at all!? And how did you even get in without-?!"
Before he could continue, the laughing woman pushes him lightly out of the way by the face and moves into the classroom. Gar brings his head back up, catching sight of the woman coming towards him. He feels a mixture of confusion and fear rise up at seeing the normally rough yet abrasive woman casually walk up to him while laughing like a maniac.
"Rumi? What are you-?", Gar tried to speak, only to be cut off by the woman shoving the newspaper into his face, repressing her laughter for a bit.
Gar pulled the paper from his face and briefly scanned over the first headline. It only took seconds for his face to shift from intrigued confusion to wide-eyed shock! He threw the paper against the floor and punched the floor while screaming, "NO! No no no no no no nooooooooooo!"
He began to ugly cry for several seconds before shooting up and grabbing Mirko by her leotard and half yelling into her repressed hysterical face in a pleading tone, "Rumi! Say it isn't true! Say it's just a prank! A sick prank you came up with Hawks! Tell me!"
Mirko couldn't handle it anymore, she threw her head back and began to hysterically laugh again as tears shot from her face!
That was all the response Gar needed as he released the woman and fell to his knees while crying upwards, "NOOOOOOOOO! WHY?! WHY!? Whhhhhhhhhhy!? Why me!? Why me?! What did I do to deserve this!?", He bellowed while beating the floor.
Everyone in the room at this point was royalty confused by literally everything that was happening. Nothing about this scene made any sense, and the only piece of evidence was the newspaper that Gar threw down in anger!
Aizawa finally cut into this circus act and demanded while activating his quirk, "What in the hell is going on!", Persian hissing at the woman belly laughing on the floor.
Aizawa went to pick up the newspaper, but Gar had mad senses and reflexes! Even with his head down he knew when the tired man's fingertips were just about to touch the stack of paper. Within a moment he swiped it away and hugged it to his chest! Staring down the man like a starving animal with a fresh kill!
Aizawa went to tell Gar to give it to him, but sensing the conversation to follow, Gar shot to his feet and hissed, "No! You can never have it! No one can see this!"
As he bellowed like a mad man, Gar put the papers above his head to try and keep them out of reach from anyone! Unfortunately, this also put them into a position of being held back at an angle. An angle at which was just the right height for Bakugou to sneak behind him and snag the papers from him!
Gar was initially shocked, but quickly recovered as he hissed with anger and fright, "Katsuki! Give it back!"
Bakugou growled at him and yelled back, "Shut your face hole! I wanna see what's so funny and terrifying about this stupid-!", He paused while looking at the front cover, his face going slack. He turned his gaze to Gar and Mirko and asked with a surprisingly calm and equally confused voice, "No fucking way."
"Please don't say anything!", Gar yelled in pleading.
Just then Aizawa's captured weapon shot out and snatched up the newspaper from the teen's hand and into his own. Gar screamed like a girl and begged, "AH! Shota please don't!"
Aizawa ignored him and skimmed the front cover, his reaction the same as Gar's, except for the breakdown, and asked Mirko with wide eyes, "Seriously?"
"Dead ass!", She confirmed while half laughing.
"Can one of you please tell us what is going on?", Uraraka exclaimed in confusion.
Bakugou put on a shot-eating grin and explained, "According to that paper, after a Pokemon battle, Purple fucker and the Rabbit are dating!
And...he was right. On the front cover of Hero News Daily, was a picture of Mirko pinning Gar against the ground in an armbar that did look quite suggestive given each of their postures. The title read: 'Mirko and Pokemon Hero Trainer, seen in public performing strange PDA. Dating? Find out within!'
The entire class swiveled their heads to Gar, who was half crying and red in the face, all of them shouting at the same time, "What!?"
"Is that true!", Mina asked with an excited smile.
"NO IT'S NOT TRUE!", Gar snapped at her, practically breathing fire with every word.
"So cute.", Toru cooed to herself silently.
Though Gar heard her just fine and snapped at her yelling, "DON'T READ INTO IT!"
Before anything else could happen in the class, something began to rapidly tap on the window. Before anyone could move their heads towards it, the window was open by some mysterious force and a newspaper was being held aloft by a few red feathers. Gar's face immediately went pale as the paper was dropped onto his lap! His eyes wide, hands shaking, and sweat pouring down his face! Without looking at the paper he slowly moved his head back to the window and saw Hawks perching on the window sill with a relaxed yet amused look.
He held up a peace sign and said nonchalantly, "Yo."
Gar only glanced down at the newspaper before breaking out into a scream that quickly turned into a son as he threw the paper against the furthest wall and slammed himself on the floor to have a breakdown! At this point, Hawks was snickering and Mirko was still laughing her ass off while everyone else looked on with different expressions.
"This is the best thing ever!", Mirko and Bakugou said at the same time, though Mirko said it between breaths.
"It's not!", Gar yelled into the floor while embarrassed ugly crying his eyes out.
Aizawa picked up the newspaper Gar lobed at the wall and glanced over the cover before mindlessly saying aloud, "Hawks too?"
Hawks just shrugged as everyone looked at him for an explanation, and said to everyone, "Yeah! For some reason. Crazy, am I right?"
"Why though? I mean, Mirko and Gar make sense to some degree, but the two of you have only spoken.", Aizawa asked in a tired demand, as if Hawks did know by some chance.
Again he shrugged and answered, "Even I agree that they're grasping at straws."
On the cover was something not very similar to the one with Mirko, made by The Heroics Hike to Fame. It was a photo of Gar and Hawks casually chatting. But the headline wrote: 'Hawks and Pokemon Hero Trainer. Friends? Lovers? Dating? You decide and see within'.
Mina, who snuck around to look at the paper from over Aizawa's shoulder, skidded over the cover and said, "I didn't know newspaper outlets were full of shippers? Maybe I went into the wrong career?"
"Mina.", Kirishima scolded her exasperated.
"WHY ME!? WHAT DID I DO!?", Gar cried out while looking towards the ceiling, continuing his ugly panicked crying.
At this point, Aizawa has had enough! Activating his quirk he grimly commanded them, "Okay! The two of you, out, and NOW!"
Aizawa scraped the hysterically laughing Mirko and pushed her out the door while locking it, while Persian hissed and chased off Hawks like a pesky bird! To which Aizawa pulled the window closed, locked it, and shut the blinds. He sighs exasperatedly after shutting the blinds, and is then suddenly jerked when something grabs his leg! He looks down and sees the red sobbing face of Gar looking up at him, wrapping his arms around his legs, on his knees like a child while Persian licks his face.
"T-T-Thank you Erase! You're my hero!", He bellows out his appreciation to the man.
Aizawa gives a smaller sigh and waves it off while saying, "Yeah yeah, now take your seat."
A Few Hours Later
The classes proceeded on, as usual, this time with Midnight teaching her course for 1-A. The students were busy taking notes and asking questions as usual, while Gar took the advantage, knowing he could get away with it, to lean his head back and take a nap. a
As Midnight paddled on about the subject they were on today, the door suddenly flew open, and in rushed a very frantically exuberantly excited woman with a strange sensation in fashion and sunglasses. She rushed to the front of a very startled Midnight, who was seconds from pummeling her, and began to lay her exciting claims.
"You there! You're the teacher, right!?", Midnight didn't even have a chance to speak as the woman rushed ahead and asked, "Where is he? Where is he!"
She was like a child looking for her birthday gift and Midnight was more than confused about what she was saying or who even she was at first. The mystery woman looked around the room at the startled and confused teens, only for her gaze to lock onto the sleeping form of Gar.
"There he is!", She shrieked loud enough to wake him up.
Gar awoke with a startled snort and half-awake asked, "Huh what-? Who, where?"
"It's you! It's you, isn't it!? The Pokémon Hero Trainer!", The woman shouted at full blast while getting uncomfortably into Gar's face.
Gar blink a few times, fully awake now, and pushed the woman back while firmly saying, "Okay first off, get off me. Second off, my name is Garfield. And third off, who are you and what do you want? I was having an amazing dream about flying through the air on the back of a giant Joltik. Which is weird because usually, it's a small Groudon.", Gar blabbered on.
The woman waved her hand dismissively at the statement and said, "Yeah yeah yeah! That's great. Now listen, I've been looking all over for you Gar!"
"It's Garfield to you lady.", He corrected her as a tack mark appeared on his forehead.
"I'm here to help you through your little predicament and give you the deal of a lifetime!", With that vague explanation she pulled out a small stack of papers from her shoulder bag and set it on his desk while exclaiming with a pen she grabbed from her hair, "So just sign here and we'll get started!"
Gar blinked several times over, looking at the woman, the papers, and everyone in the room. He glanced over to Midnight and gave her a look with his eyes that she noticed. Midnight made her way to the door and kept her eye on the crazy lady while Gar put on a forced smile.
"Could you excuse me for a minute? I need to discuss this with my…... Attorney.", Gar told her while riding from his seat and rushing to the door while grabbing Midnight while saying quickly, "Midnightcomewithme!"
Once the door had been slammed behind them, holding it back with their bodies, Gar shook Rotom out of his pocket and when the Pokémon emerged, he told it, "Call Shota."
Rotom was spared on time and dialed the man's number. The line rang a few times before finally being answered.
"What?", Aizawa's voice called from the other end in a groggy and upset tone.
"Shota, I need your help! There's some hee-haw at the class dressed like a clown who threw up on her and called it art!", Gar bumbled out, making Aizawa go silent on his side.
Midnight took over and told him with a serious tone, "A strange-looking woman just appeared in my room during classes. We have no idea who she is, where she came from, or how she even got in."
Suddenly the line went dead and the two adults looked at one another in confusion at Aizawa's reaction or lack of one. Before they could decide on what to do next, Aizawa was seen walking down the hallway towards them, looking very unhappy! It was clear he was disturbed from his nap. Neither of them said anything to him as he finally walked up to them, looking ready to strangle one of them. He pushed them away from the door, flung it open, looked inside, then closed it back up.
Aizawa sighed while rubbing his face and saying, "It's Photo Finished."
Midnight snapped her fingers while stamping her foot and proclaimed, "I knew it! I thought she looked familiar."
"Whose Photo Finished? What kind of ridiculous name is that?", Hat asked while looking at his hands, as if they held the answer.
"It is not her real name.", Aizawa informed him.
"What kind of ridiculous names are given to your Pokemon?", Midnight retorted back with a smug smile.
Gar placed a hand on his chest, and leaned back with a shocker expression, telling her, "I feel attacked! But anyway-it's that lady in there, right? She's not dangerous is she!", He asked with concern while taking a peek inside.
Only to see that Photo Finished was standing by the podium and staring at the door.
"Easy! She's about as dangerous as the choice of clothing is on her.", Midnight calms him down while waving her hands downward.
"Honestly something like that should be considered a crime.", Gar said with a disgusted tone, rolling his eyes and pointing to the inside of his open mouth.
"She's a scouter for up-and-coming celebrities.", Aizawa explained briefly.
"And she does great work. If you wanna get noticed in the prime light you go to her. She's worked with heroes like Uwabami, and more recently, Mt Lady.", Midnight added more information.
Gar blinked a few times at the two adults before pointing to himself and saying in udder confusion, "Celebrities? Me? Why? I'm not a celebrity or wanna be one. And what did she mean by 'help with my predicament? How could she help?"
"I don't think she's talking about what you're thinking of.", Aizawa theorized while scratching his face.
"Also be wary of her. She may be effective but she's also known for being two-faced. She's helped heroes climb high and fall fast. In any case, she takes, she profits.", Midnight told him with a serious tone, looking him dead in the eyes while taking off her glasses.
"So should we kick her out? I mean, she's technically trespassing.", Gar asked them, ready to pull Machamp off his belt to do the deed.
The two adults were silenced for a moment, contemplating the whole thing. The silent thinking occurred for a few minutes before Aizawa gave up on an answer, but Midnight told him, "This is just my opinion, but I say you should hear her out and then kick her out. We should at least hear her out on what she wants to help you with."
Gar nods to her and turns around. He takes the door handle and takes a deep breath before pulling it open and looking towards the eccentric woman waiting for him.
He cleared his voice and apologetically said to her, "So sorry about that Mrs.…Finished."
"Oh, it's no problem at all. So! Are you ready to sign and climb the ranks to success?", she asked excitedly while getting close to his face again, papers and pen in hand.
Gar pushed her back once more and asked, "Before I do anything like that. What exactly do you intend to 'help me with? Cause I can tell you cant help take down evil Team leaders like Bayo and Giovanni."
Photo blew air between her lips and waved off the inquiry while explaining, "Oh no no no! Nothing like that! I mean your other predicament, with the public and your image."
Gar blinked a few times at her statement before asking, "My…..public image? I don't quite understand."
Photo rolled her eyes like Gar was playing while stating, "Oh come now! Surely you've seen how the media is reporting on you, no?"
Gar shook his head and replied, "No, not really. I try my best to keep my gaze away from the media and news. It's best for my emotional and mental health."
"Well, I'll tell you now it's not that good. I've seen this happen a hundred times. The media make some phony bologna stories up from sheer rumors and spin them into a story that gets them money, the people perceive this as absolute truth, fear-mongering occurs, snowballing, and soon riots against said person.", she informed him, making a jolt run up him and his hairs standing up. Photo took a more calm and understanding demeanor as she followed up saying, "I don't mean to scare you, but pretty soon people on the streets are gonna start to attack you for no reason at all."
Gar raised a suspicious eyebrow at this and replied, "That would be a terrible idea on their part. I have Pokemon that can restructure landmasses like lumps of wet sand."
"Either way it's gonna happen.", she said with a nonchalant shrug.
Gar narrows his eyes at her and inquires, "So how exactly are you gonna help me?"
Photo Finished perks up at this question And switches back to the overwhelming eccentric personality she squeals with excitement, "Quite simple! I'm gonna help you get into the more positive side of the media! Let them see how what is currently being said about you is completely untrue! Public events, T.V appearances, modeling, so on and so forth."
Gar huffed at this while looking off to the side and putting his hands on his hips, while idly talking out of the blue, "You're lucky I used to be a model for a short time."
"What?", he heard the class ask.
Blushing, he turns to them and says with a quick tone, "Later!"
"So, what do you say?", Photo Finished asked, coming closer to his face, holding out the paperwork.
Gar paused for a moment, looked between the woman and the paperwork she held, then proceeded to cross his arms and narrow his eyes at her while asking back, "What are you getting out of this?"
Photo Finished sparkled at this question and proclaims with zealous finesse, spinning around the room like a ballerina, "I'll be working with one of the hottest topics in all of Japan! Working with a being from another universe! How can I not be seen as the best of the best after this?!"
"I'm human.", Gar told her with an exasperated sweatdrop.
She then whips her head back to him and asks again with a more serious hast in her voice, "So are you gonna sign? You only have one chance. You may not get another to save your public image and see things spiral even more."
Gar excused himself again and ran back out to the two teachers. After slamming the door shut, he turned to them and asked in a panic, "What should I do? I mean, she makes a lot of sense. If my public image is as bad as she says it's getting, then don't wanna cause any more trouble, especially for the school and you guys!", he started to trail off in a frantic rant.
Aizawa stopped his panic when he placed a strong hand on his shoulder and stated firmly, "You aren't causing us any trouble."
Midnight nods in agreement and says, "We wanted to help you at the beginning of all this, so that's what we're gonna do. Even if they try to pound down the gates of UA, we're still heroes."
"But ultimately the choice is up to you. We might be able to give you advice, but the final call is yours alone.", Aizawa informs him.
Gar paused at his words. He stood still and thought. He thought and thought and thought until he lost the place of his first memory. After finding it again he took all that he was thinking about and compiled it into one decision. He lifted his head to the two heroes, nodded at them, and opened the door again. The room was dead quiet and all eyes were on him and Photo Finished. He walks up to the woman, who stands there unnervingly silent, and clears his throat once in front of her.
"Mrs. Finished.", he says as she smiles at him. Gar takes a deep breath and says, "I think I'll take your offer."
Near The End of The Day
After everything that happened with Photo Finished and her intrusion, things settled down and progressed smoothly after that. Aizawa had taken over for the final hour before the bell. For that time he went into a basic blah blah blah speech that Gar didn't even bother listening to, and just leaned his head back while mindless looking at the ceiling. Then Aizawa said something that made his ears prick up.
"Now then, before I let you all go for the day I have three announcements to make. First off, starting two days from now we'll be returning to the USJ to complete your rescue and handling training. Second, tomorrow you will be with Midnight to choose your hero names. Use this time to think carefully about what you want to be called. It will be with you from now on. And third, the results from the Sport's Festival are in and I will be handing out all the offerings from hero agencies that want to take you in for a week-long apprenticeship. If you haven't received any, come to me and I'll take you to the Principal who will give you voluntary ones.", He explained to the classroom.
The whole class was silent for several seconds, staring at Aizawa with blank expressions before jumping up and exclaiming, "What!?"
"Sensei! Don't you think it's a little soon?!", Iida was the first to ask.
"Yeah, Sensei Aizawa! It's cool we get to see who's interested in us and choose our names. But return to the USJ!?", Kirishima chimed in.
"Sensei, this is crazy!", Uraraka added in.
"Yeah, crazy!", Mina agreed.
The whole class was in a huge uproar over this, it got so bad that a tack mark formed on Aizawa's head from all the noise! He repressed the urge to groan at them and instead firmly told them while activating his quirk, "Quiet."
Almost immediately the class for dead was silent at his command and the man let go of his quirk as his hair and eye returned to normal. Aizawa took in the silence to let his eyes rest and his brain think, though it didn't last too long for him. He saw gar raising his hand, and begrudgingly the man pointed at him to speak.
"Eraserhead. I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I see that the first thing is nothing but poppy Combusken. The incident at the USJ happened not too long ago, and you want us to return, especially after the Sport's Festival? Is there a valid reason for this insanity?", he asked while crossing his arms with a raised eyebrow.
Aizawa sighs and straightens himself up before explaining, "You all have just three years. Three years to learn and grow into full-fledged heroes. You need to learn the basics of everything a hero can do. I understand your reluctance, but this is vital for you. Once you're out of here, you're out and on your own. Any other questions?"
No one said a single word in reply or challenge, they just wordlessly looked at one another. They really couldn't argue with his logic….too much. It was true, they were in a time crunch. They had to learn everything they could before they left this place. The wide world ahead wasn't gonna be like this school. It was ride or die out there and they had to be prepared to not do the ladder.
Satisfied with the result, Aizawa said, "Good. Now I'll be handing out all the offers each of you received."
A slight knocking interrupted them and Aizawa moved to open the door where a small cart of paperwork sat neatly organized on the top. Aizawa took the cart inside and nodded to Mewtwo who was on the other side as thanks. Said Pokemon nodded back as it closed the door with its physic powers. Aizawa had only moved the cart three inches before he realized who and what had given it to him. He quickly opened up the door and looked down the hallway at the floating Pokemon leaving the door. He closed the door and started holes into the trainer sitting in the middle of the classroom, balancing a pen on his upper lip.
"Garfield.", he calls his name in a stern tone, only to get a grunt in reply. "Why is your hyper destructive artificial god running around the school?", he asks while pointing his thumb at the door.
Gar looks up, dropping the pen, and says dazed at first, "Huh? Oh! You mean Mewtwo."
Aizawa rolls his eyes at his nonchalant response and says more firmly, "Yes. Why is your homicidal genetic experiment handing out paperwork?"
"Cause he wants to. Instead of destroying or killing he's doing something constructive for once. Ain't that a good thing?", Gar asks back, trying to play it off with innocents, much to the man's chagrin.
Aizawa then proceeded to hand out the individual stack of papers to each student one by one. Unsurprisingly both Todoroki and Bakugou seemed to get the most offers out of anyone else in the class. The only other person that could rival the two of them was Gar, who did not notice the stack of papers at first. Gone back to balancing the pen on his lips. When he finally saw the paper and Aizawa pushed the cart to the corner he called for the man's attention.
"Hey, Eraserhead.", Aizawa said nothing in reply and instead simply turned his gaze to him expecting the question. Gar motioned to the stack of papers on his desk and asked, "Are you just using my desk to hold the extras or just to organize them?"
"No.", he replied simply.
"No?"
"They're yours."
"Mine?"
"Yes."
"These! All of these!", he asked with more supposed franticness, while waving his arms around the stack.
"Yes.", he replied simply, again.
"This isn't a joke, right?"
"What makes you think that?"
"Why would all these heroes send me offers at all? I'm not a hero, a student, or even a resident. Does it make no sense? Kinda thought they hated me.", Gar deflated at his self-deprivation as he felt the ire of Bakugou and judgmental envious stares of his other classmates all on him.
Aizawa shrugged at him and theorized, guessing, "I guess, like Photo Finished, everyone wants a piece of the 'hottest topic' pie."
Gar leaned back while pinching the bridge of his nose and saying, "Yare Yare Daze. I never wanted this.", he let out an exasperated sigh and followed up asking, "So what, I have to fill them out and say I refuse?"
"If it's not turned in by the end of the week, then it will be considered as a refusal.", Aizawa briefly explained to him.
"So all this paper was used for nothing? What a waste.", Gar made a disgusted sound in his throat at the thought.
Aizawa rolled his eyes at his reaction and offered, "Unless you have a new use for it. It's all yours."
Gar opened his mouth, no doubt to give a witty reply, but then he stopped. He thought on the older man's statement and said with a newfound intuition, "Now that you mentioned it. I do."
Gar then pulled out a Great Ball from his belt and threw it out into the air where it popped open and manifested a large Pokemon that felt and smelt like raw melted iron.
The whole class looked confused at the Pokemon before Uraraka piped up, knowing the Pokemon, and asked, "Camerupt? What are you gonna do with him?"
"You're not gonna burn it, are you?", Jiro asked, concerned while backing away.
"Not in the classroom.", Aizawa glared dangerously and commandingly at him and the lazy-looking Pokemon.
Gar waved off the accusation while shaking his head and said, "No-no-no. Nothing like that. I'm gonna feed it to him."
"Huh?", asked the whole class, as Camerupt opened its huge mouth.
From there Gar took the first few papers off the top and popped them into his mouth. The Pokemon closed and began to chew on the papers before swallowing and repeating the process.
Gar saw the confused expression on everyone's face at what he was doing. He sighed with a chuckle and explained to them, "How else do you think Fire types can use fire attacks?"
"So that's how that works.", Izuku said in amazement while thinking about the simplicity of it.
Just as Gar shoved down the fourth handful of papers, Camerupt let out a loud and very smelly fart! The smell was so bad so quickly that everyone nearby immediately left their seats and moved further away while everyone was present grabbed their noses from the smell.
"Oh gross!", Sato cried while pinching his nose hard.
Gar laughed at their reactions, clearly enjoying himself, and half apologetically said while shaving more paper into the Pokémon's mouth, "Sorry guys, but paper always makes him gassy."
"EWWWWWWWW!", cried the whole class as Camerupt let loose another fart.
"Then why did you choose him?!", Uraraka cried out as she floated up from grabbing her whole face with her hands.
"He was the only fire type I had on hand.", Gar replied while trying to hold in his laughter as Camerupt bellowed out an even stranger fart.
"Why do you have him!", Momo exclaimed while on her knees from the smell.
"I like to switch up my team from time to time.", Gar shrugged innocently and nonchalantly as Camerupt let out a tiny toot.
"Oh, God! Please stop feeding him!", begged Mina.
"Almost there.", Gar intentionally drove it out while solely filling in the last few papers, this time getting a loud long wet far from Camerupt that made half the class gag.
"Have mercy!", screamed Kaminari.
Koda was the one who took the dive and ran towards the window and flung all of them open while panting and coughing as the gas filtered out. Once he caught enough of his breath he said in a pathetic low tone, "This day stinks."
End Of The Day
The bell finally rang after what felt like the longest day of his life! Gar still got the unusual stares from people all over the school with the occasional whispers pointed in his direction. Apart from that, no other trouble arose while he walked to the Principal's office. Luckily he had Mimikyu on his shoulder to help stifle his nerves.
Once there he saw that Midnight was already sitting down with Nezu. Gar took a seat at the huge desk and leaned back as the two adults glanced back at him while continuing their conversation. After a few minutes, Aizawa finally arrived with Persian in tow and plopped himself down into a seat across from Gar. Persian making himself comfortable on the floor. Midnight and Nezu went quiet as they waited for the man to start them off.
Aizawa sighed while Persian yawned loudly and said, "I'm sure you all know why you're here?"
"You want to know about the surfacing rumors with Garfield.", Nezu started.
"The ones surrounding the School, the Government, and the Police.", Midnight added along.
"Me breaking into the President's office.", Gar adds his tack to the track.
While Mimikyu makes three mocking sounds similar to the word phrase blah blah blah.
"How'd we do?", Gar asks Mimikyu.
Aizawa sighs and replies, "You're in the ballpark."
"Allow me to save you the trouble and tell you that most of everything you've heard thus far is very true.", Nezu got straight to the point.
Aizawa sighs again while interlacing his fingers. Closing his eyes and opening them again before prompting, "Continue."
After One Lengthy Explained
"Please tell me this is a joke.", Aizawa asked with a serious glare at the three of them.
The two adults, plus Nezu, all looked at Aizawa like he asked what flavor it was, the color brown. They all looked weirdly at one another before looking back at the serious-looking man, to which Nezu replied, "What reason would we have to?"
"I know I can be a bit mischievous at times, but even I know when to take charge in a serious talk. So we're not playing around with you.", Gar added in as Mimikyu nodded his fake head.
"You know what you've done, right?", Aizawa switched his full attention to Gar.
Gar almost flinched under his gaze, but kept his composure and replied, "I do."
"Then why did you do it?", Aizawa asked firmly, yet calmly.
This time it was Gar who looked incredulously and angrily at the man. Immediately doing a 180 and exploding on him, half yelling, "What do you mean why?! I just told you why!"
The other two adults stared at Gar with shock at his sudden outburst! "Woah Garfield, take it easy!", Midnight tried to calm him down and hold him back, only to receive a sharp slap on the hand.
"Stay out of this Nemuri!", Gar shouted at her, making the woman flinch.
"You could've done a thousand different things and instead you decide to ride a god through a government building and threaten our highest political leader?", Aizawa returned Gar's full ire onto him.
Gar growled at his statement and shot up from his seat while slamming his hands on the table and shouted at him, "What the Heliolisk did you want me to do!? If I didn't then he would just try again! So I did what everyone else should do and broke the cycle before it could start! I was thinking ahead!"
His outburst even caused Persian to hide in between Aizawa's legs, and Mimikyu to hop off his shoulder and scamper towards Nezu.
Aizawa stood firm and founded, keeping his eyes trained on him, he said with his calm yet serious voice, "You weren't thinking at all. Regardless of what happened, you acted without thinking which would have resulted in you getting into even more trouble."
Gar looked like he wanted to fight against him as he bit his lower lips in frustration and anger! But he held himself back for some reason and immediately deflated while dropping his head, saying in a small tone, "Shut up."
"Are you crazy or something? Do you want people to think you're unhinged? Cause I think you need a reality check on where you stand!", Aizawa demanded out of him, this time being the one to get even more riled up.
"Shut up!", Gar said a bit louder through grit teeth covering his ears and sounding himself like a turtle's shell.
This time the roles had been reversed and Aizawa was the one standing up and half yelling progressively through his rant to the young man. "You say you know the limits of using these creatures, but you don't, you never do. You use them to propagate yourself when you don't get your way or want to make your point stand out! You say you follow the rules but bend them when you can't do what you want! Always using these creatures as an excuse to do so! What's going on with you? Who are you really in all this!? What's going on inside your head!?", he demanded while leaning forward as his quirk automatically activated.
Gar then exploded from his self-made shell and tried to take a wild swing at Aizawa before yelling and stamping his foot like a child, "SHUT UP! SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!", Gar yelled this on repeat until he lost his breath. From there he panted hard as everything fell silent. Gar grit his teeth while making an angry choking sound in his throat and glaring daggers at Aizawa he yelled, "You don't know what's going on! Don't pretend like you're better than me or somehow know more or better than I! I nearly broke time itself on a selfish whim once and had to learn the hard way, because of it! I may be young but not inexperienced! And I….I…..I…..", Gar trailed off as his furious mood quickly melted away into a bland neutral state.
From there he trailed off in a stammering blunder as his body relaxed and his eyes widened, followed closely by the wheeling up of tears. From there he tried to hold back the emotion flooding forward, only to make them come even faster and harder. He tried to stifle them back but only ended up finding tears fall even hard in streams down his face. He soon lost his thought and stood there with his body shaking, lips bitten down, and tears running down his face.
Eventually, he could hold back anymore and exploded yet again in a flurry of emotional outpouring. Gar finally broke down and shouted, "I never wanted to be a part of this! Any of this!"
Gar fell onto the table, arms crossed over her face and sobbing loudly as his face and body went red! He wept bitterly into the wooden table as everyone around him started on with mixed emotions. Even Mimikyu and Persian peaked from their hiding spots at their trainers' sudden change of emotion. No one tried to do anything, since no one knew what to do at this time! Gar sobbed loudly and bitterly for several minutes before finally gaining enough of his composure to speak again.
"I came to this place by mistake. I wanted to leave, but then one thing after the other kept happening, and it ...it ...it….", he trailed off again as more tears welled up his eyes and his throat began to chock up. He tried and failed to hold it all back but ended up exploding back into a blubbering sobbing mess! "IT'S JUST TOO MUCH FOR ME!", he yelled through his tears as he tried to choke down more air to blather out nearly incoherently, "I'm not a hero or a diplomat or anything like that! I'm a pro sports player! I'm no different from someone who plays soccer. My Pokemon are the only reason I can help! I'm not experienced in doing any of these things! I just wanna help! I'm trying to adapt to help where I can, but I can't! I just can't! I can't do it anymore! I can't keep pretending!", he trailed off and repeated the last sentence until it dissipated out into jumbled sounds mixed with sobs.
The three adults and two Pokemon all looked on at the broken young man with sympathy and pity on their faces. None of them attempted to help yet, as they were all still shocked by this revelation! None of them knew how to approach things from here on. But Midnight had an idea of what to do.
She carefully approached the young man, taking her glasses off and laying a gentle hand on his trembling back, saying to him in a calm yet understanding tone, "Garfield…..I'm so sorry. I never knew you felt this way. I never knew we put so much pressure on you."
Nezu sighed sadly and lowered his head in shame as he said his apology. "In hindsight, I should've seen that myself. I had all the pieces but I couldn't see the bigger picture regarding you. I'm truly sorry for being so blind. We put so much pressure on you and expected that you would just be able to do it with ease like you were a natural pro….but you aren't. I'm sorry for that.", he apologized to him as Mimikyu ran from his arm and hipped on his head where he began to make a purring sound.
As the two adults controlled the sobbing young man, Midnight whipped her head towards Aizawa and impatiently said to him under her breath, "Aren't you gonna say something Shota?"
"I was until you interrupted me.", Aizawa informed her as he aggravatedly grunted her remark, making the woman roll her eyes. He sighs and begins saying, "I'm sorry too. Most of-.", he was quickly cut off by the glaring ire of all pokemon and people present in the room. Aizawa quickly changed his wording and said, "All of what I said wasn't how I felt. I was only saying that to see how you were thinking. I knew there was a problem brewing under the surface and I just wanted to finally bring it out. I'm sorry.", he apologized as Persian began to lick his hand.
"We should've never put all this on your shoulders, Garfield. This is supposed to be our reign of expertise.", Midnight told him with sincere concern and shame.
"From now on we should be the ones to shoulder this, not you.", Nezu added boldly and currently.
"At least where your knowledge isn't needed.", Aizawa chipped in the one specific. He took a deep breath to level himself and then followed up saying, "Having said that, I'm sure after this a lot of trouble will be coming from those who are directly in control of us."
Midnight looked at him incredulously as she reminded him, "He told the President to frick off while riding on the back of the Sky God. I don't think anyone would be willing to do anything after that experience."
Nezu nods with him, but says, "It's something that will be dealt with at a later time. For now, I think Garfield shouldn't be concerning himself with such things. He should only be concerned about resting himself. You can leave now if you'd like."
After a few minutes of crying, gar refined his composure and said in a small tone still teetering on the edge, "Yeah."
"If you don't wanna come to class for a while, that's fine. But If you do come I won't press you to join in, just don't make trouble.", Aizawa added while placing an assured hand on his shoulder.
Gar wordlessly nods in agreement, lifts himself off the table, and with his head hung low. He shuffles out towards the door with Mimikyu petting his head and Persian walking him towards it.
Just before he opens the door to leave, Midnight calls out to him, "Take care of yourself Garfield.", Gar silently closed the door and walked off with a very quiet footstep. Once Gar was out of range and Persian returned to Aizawa's side, Midnight fell into her chair and sighed aggravatedly at herself while slapping her head, saying shamefully, "Geeze I feel like a damn idiot!"
Nezu nods with her and says in agreement, "I know what you mean, we all were so caught up in trying to stabilize or fix things in the now, that we forgot to realize we put a civilian on the front lines without a second thought. Thank you for doing this, Eraserhead.", he thanked the tired man who nodded silently back with a small grunt.
Midnight glared over at him while putting on her glasses again, and said to him in a scolding tone, "Though you could've done that a bit differently."
"How so?", Aizawa shoots back, only to get a pouting glare from the woman, and a slight smirk back from the man.
Nezu interrupted their mini quarrel and changing the subject he informed them, "On that note, with everything that has happened, we must discuss what steps to take next."
