Ultear and Meredy stood on a pillar overlooking the Domas Flou "the grand magic games are well underway," Ultear said as Meredy took a seat "now all we need to do is wait"
"And figures Jellal couldn't sit by and watch," Meredy laughed "kinda makes our secret meeting with fairy tail meaningless," she said. "I mean, aren't we doing the job ourselves"
"I mean, we did get to see them again," Ultear said, "and in a way make amends for our past transgressions."
"You didn't talk with Gray at all," Meredy told her
"We have our own way of saying things," Ultear told her "It's being children of Ur, thing" she gave Meredy a smirk, "you understand now, don't you."?
"Very funny, Ultear," Meredy said "good to know you finally figured out what sense of humor is"
"at least I have one," Ultear shot back as the two women laughed, hoping that their friends would be all right and that they would find victory in the games. "And besides, if anything, it meant something to Erza and Jellal."
"Yeah," Meredy said
Night of falling stars
"Are you guys ready to go" Lola called as the crowd let out a scream "the first contestant is ready to go, representing team Quatro hound is its own Jäger," Lola announced as his picture appeared in front of them, "representing the nymph five, is Beth Vanderwood, representing Raven tail is Nullpudding, representing the Sabertooth tigers is its own Rufus Lore, representing the trimens is its own Eve Tilm" the crowd gave cheer after he was announced " from the Ferrous Cinco is its own Lyon Vastia, from Fairy tail the icy wizard Gray Fullbuster. From Dragon tail Juvia Lockser" he called "so go grab a drink and get comfortable because the wait is finally over?"
"you're not going to want to miss a single nail-biting moment of hidden," Lola called.
"Those games take place over the course of five days," Mavis said suddenly "each team is allowed to have five members, but they only let eight teams participate this year."
"Well, this is the most teams that they've had in the past seven years," Cosmos told her.
"But why eight" Mavis said "that a particular number if you ask me," Mavis said
"You could say that," Makarov said, "though I guess we won't know until we find something out."
"I guess," Mavis said as she overlooked the crowd, "good luck, my children, you're going to need it."
"Will the team members participating step forward," Mato said
"See ya later, guys," Gray said
"Goodluck" Erza said
"Do your best," Wendy said
"You got this, Gray," Lucy said
"Show em why we're the best," Natsu called
"Everyone excited and can't wait to learn what the game hidden has in store," Lola said, "who do you think is favorite among these groups."
"Rufus is definitely the odds on favored," Yajima told him, "But Lyon from Lamia scale is a dark horse in the running."
"And what do you think, Jenny," Lola asked
"I'm going to have to go with Eve," Jenny said
As Mato explained the game, Juvia looked over to Gray, "so that you know, even though our souls are intertwined, I do not plan on losing to you."
"Yeah," Gray chuckled, "I plan on winning too."
"So do I," Lyon said, "and I plan on winning Juvia's heart."
"Creep alert," Juvia said, backing behind Gray.
"Not so funny now, is it Juvia," Gray said as he looked at Mato "actually, before we start, there is one question that I wanted to ask, what are you."
"Who me," Mato said, embarrassed, "I'm a pumpkin, as you can plainly see."
"Sorry," Gray said, "was I not supposed to ask that"
"Well, he looks like a pumpkin to me," Juvia said
"Well, of course, he does," Gray said, "but I'm talking about what was on the inside."
"You know, I never really thought of that," Eve said, "he's such a big part of the games; I never really thought of who he was on the inside."
"I always figured he was an employee or something," Beth said "
"Thank you for creating such an interesting character," they said in unison
"You're welcome," Mato said, "but I'm here for the fun of it all," he said with glee
"Speaking of which," Lyon said, "how are you doing," Lyon asked. "I mean with your recover."
"Juvia can feel her toes," Juvia responded triumphantly, "and that is all that matters."
"What happened," Beth asked as Eve shrugged.
"Nothing to worry about," Gray responded.
"You know," Rufus said, "They say that two heads aren't necessarily better than one."
"So is that some advice from the raining champ," Gray asked
"You could say that" Rufus responded. "I know that the two of you are comrades in a certain way," he told them, "And that could lead to a major disadvantage. It's pretty easy for that friend to be used against you." he looked away, "leaking information, being captured, telling the enemy your weakness, especially if you're close. or threatening there lives"
"You say that like we're all about to go to war," Gray said, "this is nothing but a friendly tournament, and my friend here just so happened to be one of the teams that got in" Gray laughed "trust me, I was just as surprised as you were"
"let's get started," Mato screamed, stopping their conversation. as a large city started to form in, the center of the arena as the building began to surround the wizards
"Woah," Happy said, "they can fit a whole city up in here."
"Impressive," Mavis muttered
"How much power does that entail," Jellal asked.
As the city finished building, Gray had found himself alone, looking around. He noticed that both Lyon and Juvia were gone "hey," he called, "Lyon, Juvia," he shouted,
"So, I guess this is what hidden is," Eve said, "high stakes hide and go seek."
"I used to play this game when I was a kid," Jäger muttered as he walked through the empty streets.
"Should I be hiding or seeking," Beth asked.
"For those of you in the audience, you can watch the games from these high-quality convent Lacrima," Lola said. "I bet our contestant which they had this luxury, but that would make the game too easy," Lola joked "but what I can tell them are the rules of the game," Lola started "all players are hiding and seeking at the same time, the main objective is to find another contest and hit them with an attack" Lola explained "A point may be earned when a participant successfully lands an attack, either physical or magical, on an opponent. A point would be deducted from the attacked participant." the city started to glow filling with clones form the eight participants shocking everyone.
"Wow," Lucy said "now what," she asked.
"That looks extremely difficult," Erza said, "even after knowing Gray for as long as we have, we might have some trouble."
"Maybe," Wendy said, "but if it were me, I could just track their scents."
"They might have found a way around that," Natsu said, "even playing field, remember."
"You might have a point," Wendy responded, leaning against the wall "let's hope Gray can handle this."
"They may look pretty," Lola started, "attack one of those fake competitors, and you'll lose points no time to fade into the backgrounds or hide in plain sight, now let's play hidden" a long gong rang through the arena as the crowd gave a loud cheer.
"So many Grays," Juvia said with stars in her eyes "surely, I can hold at least one," she shouted as she hugged a fake gray only to be blasted back, sending her to another part of the area. "Juvia should have seen that happening."
"I wouldn't touch those fakes if I were you," Lola explained, "if you do, you'll have to restart in a different part of the arena."
"This might be a little hard for poor Juvia," Mira muttered
"We wouldn't be having this problem if I was in there," Laxus said
"Maybe," Mira responded, "I guess we'll never know."
"Damn it, "Gray said, "how am I going to find somebody in this maze" he shook his head "my friends are counting on me, so I can't let them down.
"you dimwit," a voice called Gray turned to see Nullpudding standing behind him, "you don't have a snowballs chance."
"you're with Raven tail," Gray said
"Yeah," Nullpudding said, "the names Nullpudding."
"I should thank you for finding me," Gray shouted as he got ready to attack "{Ice make: hammer}" he screamed as he attacked suddenly, only for Nullpudding to walk up from behind him "what."
"Nice try," Nullpudding said, "but this here is the real thing. See," he laughed. "I commend you on an excellent attack, though," he said as Gray was dragged to another part of the arena.
"Man, I didn't think they'd be able to get the upper hand on him," Lucy said
"didn't think that he's that easy to trick," Natsu muttered
"Damn it," Gray muttered "I screwed up," he said, "but I think I figured it out," he said, "I can use my own copies to trick another player into revealing themselves," Gray said 'I need to stay calm' he shook his head 'I need to remain focused as he tried to blend in.
"You make this too easy, Gray" he turned around, seeing Nullpudding again
"What," he asked as Nullpudding attacked him, spikes growing all over his body
"This game is starting to get fun," he screamed
"In a game where copies surrounded you," Lola asked, " how would you go about finding the other player."
Yajima scratched his chin "well, you could start by searching for their magic power."
"I'm sure Eve can come up with a more sophisticated method" Jenny laughed
"Searching for magic power is a start," Erza said
"doesn't help if the opponents can hide their magic power," Natsu told her
"Raven tail gone after Gray three times already," Lucy said, "you think there something there or just coincidence."
"don't know," Wendy said, "but I know that there have to be up to something," Wendy said "could be" Wendy stopped 'the Lumen Histoire' she looked at Natsu she knew that their goal last time was to get it but could they have changed tactics and does Natsu know about the Lumen Histoire gramps had told her and everyone else involved that it was just folktales, but she had to wonder.
"No need to worry, kid," Natsu said, suddenly pulling her out of her thoughts "whatever there up to, we can stop them" he gave her a look telling her that he knew what she was thinking and to stop thinking it she nodded.
"If you say so," Wendy said, "but we should stay on our toes" she glanced over to where Raven tail was standing, "at least until we know what there up to"
Gray sighed as he continued walking through the arena. He looked around "man; I'm back to square one again' he said as the ground started to grow "what."

"{Carrot bomb}" a voice called Gay jumped out of the was as Beth people dup from the ground "man I thought I had that guy" she was stopped when a plant grew from the ground.
"what"
"Aw yeah," a voice called it was Jäger. "I was sick of waiting for the chance to use magic" ice then blasted him out of the way as Lyon walked up to him.
"I finally found you," Lyon said, "my rival."
"Lyon," Gray growled out.
"You can't hide from me, my darling," Juvia called out as she jumped from a roof.
"Juvia"
"What a view," Lyon said as Juvia kicked him away, taking away his point, putting her at zero points as he landed on the ground. Lyon had a blush on his face as he muttered to himself, "worth it"
"You know," Gray said, "I don't need your help or anything."
"I know," Juvia said "in fact, I'm determined to beat you," Juvia revealed." for the promise that Makarov made for her"
"Something tells me that it has something to do with me," Gray said to which Juvia nodded.
Flashback
"So, what do you kids say," Makarov asked. He had gathered some of the remaining members of Fairy tail along with Laxus. Mavis had a plan to increase the chances of them getting Magnolia back, and these were the kids going to the other team and would be called Dragon tail for the team in the games.
"What," Gajeel said, "I want nothing to do with that freakshow."
"I don't mind helping out," Laxus said, "but aren't we kinda like the b team," he asked.
"Where did you even come up with the name dragon tail anyway," Mira asked
"Kinana," Makarov told her, to which Mira nodded, "And what if we sweeten the deal," he said, "the winning team gets to do whatever they want to losing team for an entire day."
"Anything, huh," Laxus said. The thought of making one of the members of fairy tail serve him hand and foot did seem pretty tempting "I think I can go with that," he smiled. Maybe he would go with Natsu if he could get to him before Mira. Then again, it's an entire day.
"Anything, huh," Gajeel said, unlike Laxus, his thoughts involved Lucy in a bunny suit along with his fabulous music people would come for miles.
"Anything," Mira said the thought of her and Natsu operating the bar together and did seem tempting, or she could make him cook for her for once it would be a nice change of pace for the to them, then there was that, yeah maybe she could have him do that it would be fun.
"Anything," Juvia asked anyone there already knew that she would just want Gray to spend time with her. What that said about their relationship would be anyone's guess. but Juvia was currently in Gray land, and she was not coming down from it
"That sounds like a punishment game," Lily said,
"don't worry, I'm sure they'll agree."

"what" Gray shouted "hey Gramps," Gray called "you can't be making crazy promises like that without it being fair, right" he screamed as Makarov laughed nervously
"I thought you were going to tell them about that," Mavis asked. Makarov looked away nervously as Mavis let out a heavy sigh.
"OH, someone's in trouble," Cosmos teased.
"Anything we want," Natsu said 'maybe I can make Laxus and Gajeel give me a Happy impression' he smiled at the thought before a sense of dread came over him "we can't lose," he said, "I can't go through that again" Natsu shouted as Wendy slapped him
"Calm down," Wendy said. "Mira won't make you do that," she said, "right" Natsu shook his head.
"So, we wanna know what that is," Lucy asked as a look of fear came over the pair's face.
"No," Natsu said
"Anything but that," Wendy said, "it's horrifying" they looked over to see Mira waving and smiling at them, making them shudder in fear. "I'll do anything you want just not that" she screamed hugging Natsu "no matter the cost we can't lose"
"So, you see," Juvia said, "even though my love for you burns hotter than a thousand suns, I refuse to lose to you," Juvia screamed.
"I'm not losing either," Gray growled. As they got ready to attack each other, only for Nullpudding to come out of nowhere and attack them, they managed to jump out of the way "what the hell is with this guy" Gray said as he stopped snow started. To come over them "snow."

"it's a shame there are some wizards here that aren't affected by the cold," Eve called out, "but most of them are."
"I see," Ichiya said, "when you get cold, you can see someone's breath, and your body starts to shiver."
Juvia's mind had gone back to when she was on Tenrou Island when Meredy had attacked her. The feeling of snow, while not as cold, was enough to remind her of that day the injuries she had started to burn up so much, so she forgot about Nullpudding. She narrowly dodged him only for him to attack her again as she let out a scream in pain
"Juvia" Gray screamed
"Eve then appeared attacking her taking out Jäger, and Beth in ins assault as well Gray once again had found himself under attack by Nullpudding as he jumped out of the way.
"he's only going after us," Lucy said." why."
Eve was shocked when, an ice attack landed on him, knocking him down "unfortunately for you. I'm used to the cold."
"Yeah, I figured that much," Eve laughed.
"You know," Lola said, "Rufus has yet to make a move," he said, "he hasn't lost any points, but he hasn't gained any either." he then looked to see him on a building "there he is."
"I do find this game dreadfully boring," Rufus said. He was atop a building, the wind blowing in the face as he watched the other wizards fight. "I have commented this song to memory," he went on, "their footsteps the tone of their magic."
"What is he doing up there," Lucy asked.
"that's not really a hiding spot if you ask me," Wendy said, "he's up to something."
"Yeah," Natsu agreed, "but what."

"Rufus looked to the horizon smiling, he had let them have their fun for long enough gave them there a sliver of hope for victory now he would show them the true terror of Sabertooth "it all there," he said, "inside my mind{memory make}" the sky turned dark as everyone in the arena started to glow making them stop what they were doing.
"What kind of magic is this" Erza asked. "I've never heard of it."
"Could it be a lost magic?" Lucy asked as Natsu, and Wendy shook their heads
"No idea," the pair said
"{night of shooting stars,}" Rufus called as bolts of lightning shot from him, striking everyone in the arena, granting him six points Nullpudding jumped out of the way.
"You should learn about hiding," he screamed as he tried to punch Rufus only for him to disappear "what, a copy," he asked
"Not quite," Rufus said as he appeared in his spot, "that was the memory of me being there" he smiled as he blasted Nullpudding away. "I find that more effective than that being mere decoys," he said as the spell ended and the crowd went wild for Rufus
"Damn," Gray muttered, "what was that"
"The organizers need to up their game," Rufus laughed "all my competitors were able to do," he looked away, "was chase, my memory."
"Starting to see why they've grown so much in the past seven years," Lucy muttered.
"Woah," Happy said
"What a powerful attack," Lily added
"Yes," Carla said, "their power is something else."
"Atta boy Rufus," Lector said, "show them why Sabertooth is the best."
"You better start playing right," Gray called as he shot some Ice at Rufus, who dodged appearing behind Gray "what."
"You remember what I told you, "He said, "that your enemy can use your allies against you," he said as a memory flashed in Gray's mind forcing him back up it was the sight of Meredy holding Juvia. The memory was fresh on his mind but seeing it again made him think about she almost died on Tenrou Island as Gray shook his head as he was struck again, forcing him to the ground. "two heads really aren't better than one"
"How did you," Gray asked
"Memory is a powerful thing" he teased "and yours is right with so much" he smiled "trauma"
"damn you" Gray shouted only for a bell to go off
"And with that, the game is over," Lola called, "and here are the final results."
"In the first place, we have Rufus," he called as Rufus turned to Gray before smirking. "In second place, we have Nullpudding from Raven tail "Lola called "in third, we have Lyon, in fourth we have Eve, and in fifth, we have Beth," she called "sixth is Jäger, and in seventh we have Juvia, and in last place we have Gray."
Juvia was on the ground. Her breathing was heavy as she looked to Gray, who had a similar look of fear on his face as Nullpudding had walked off. "Gray," she whispered.
"Nothing," he said, getting up; Juvia also said nothing as she walked away to meet Gajeel.
"You alright," he asked as Juvia looked at him shaking her head before walking past.
"Just," she started, "just some bad memories are all," she whispered, rubbing her arm.
"he'll pay for that," Gray growled as he punched the wall; he had tried hard to forget that had even happened to, but seeing it again brought back that fear he felt when he saw Juvia in that state.
"And now we're getting into the battle rounds," Lola said, "this isn't a normal tournament style set up."
"it's the games organizers that decide who do what, right," Jenny asked
"Yep," Lola told her, "And I just received the list here," he smiled, "and the first match of the grand magic games," he smiled, "is the zodiac wielder, of fairy tail Lucy Heartfilia."
"Alright," Lucy said, "looks like it's my turn."
"Versus the intensity of team Raven tails Flare Corona," Lola announced,
"Too bad your you" Flare let out a giggle, "blondie."
