Chapter 4: Citrinitas

Albedo sat at a rather large table. At the moment he was at the gathering for prospective business partners. Most of the attendees were children of rich business owners who had sent them to this gathering to 'socialize.' But anyone could tell that everyone actually hated each other. In reality, this party was just an excuse to size up future competition, maybe get an unfair trade deal with one of the younger children.

If Kreideprinz was being honest, he would rather be anywhere else. The only reason he agreed to come in the first place was to watch over Weiss. Who at the moment was seated right next to the alchemist. Nobody had actually dared to talk with them, being a Schnee meant that people were too afraid, doubly so considering most of the guests had no real business experience. Suddenly, Albedo stood up and made his way to the exit.

"A-Albedo! Where are you going?" Weiss said as she rushed to Albedo

When Weiss finally caught up they were only a couple halls away from the elevator and Weiss had managed to get in front of Albedo.

"And where do you think you are going? We'll get in trouble if we are caught leaving." Weiss whispered with her hands on her hips.

"Don't worry Weiss, I was just getting bored. Maybe we will find something more interesting outside."

Just then Albedo's senses flared and he took Weiss by the hand running down the hallway towards the stairwell.

"H-Hey! Albedo what's wrong?"

"Weiss, listen to me, I need you to stay calm and follow me. Before we entered the building I placed glyphs at the entrances of the hotel. They are rigged to warn me of any dangers…the glyphs were triggered approximately 10 seconds ago. We are leaving."

"What? How does that even work?"

"I'll explain later, come on."

The two continued sprinting down the corridor until they reached the emergency stairs. The siblings instinctively activated their aura as Albedo opened the door. Unfortunately they did not have their weapons with them since the event was supposed to be peaceful and the organizers had believed their security system would suffice. Albedo's expression darkened, he and Weiss could only rely on their semblance.

"I'll use my vision as a last resort," thought Kreideprinz.

As the two slowly opened the door, they were relieved to see that the stairs were empty, but they could hear shouting in the distance. Wasting no time, Albedo grabbed Weiss by the waist and jumped down the center of the stairwell. While midair, the alchemist summoned a black glyph beneath them and another at the bottom of the stairs.

"Uh-Oh…" Weiss said reflexivity

The Schnee twins then abruptly shot down the stairs. Albedo had summoned gravitational glyphs that attracted one another, essentially, he created a high-speed elevator. The two landed gracefully, as expected of a Schnee, and snuck their way to the main lobby. "Thank you Eula for those resonance lessons."

"Albedo! Shouldn't we be headed to the emergency exit?" Hissed Weiss.

"You are right…but I want to get an idea of who has attacked the building"

*beep*

Albedo and Weiss turn the corner to find a gray device attached to the wall. It had multi-colored wires coming out from the sides and had a red countdown on the front. *10 minutes*

"Brother doesn't that look like-"

"Yes…one of the explosive charges used for clearing out caves that miners use at the SDC…though this one seems to be modified with a copious amount of dust crystals. I estimate it would destroy the whole building or at the very least make it collapse."

"I-Is there any way to disarm it?" Weiss' hand began to tremble as Albedo analyzed the explosive.

"I think I will be able to disable the bomb…though it will take a bit. I'll need you to guard me while I work"

"Guard?"

"Yes. The timer is set at 10 minutes. This likely means the people who placed the bomb are still in the vicinity…be careful."

"Don't you think I should be the one saying that? You dolt! *sigh* though knowing you…you probably have five different plans already in case something goes wrong."

Albedo looked at Weiss with a smirk. "How'd you know?"

"That idiot…how exactly does he expect me to defend him when I don't have Myrtenaster…either way it looks like I have no choice…WHAT AM I SAYING! I'M COMPLETELY TERRIFIED!"

"HEY! What do you think you are doing!"

Weiss turned her head to see multiple men approaching. They wore blank white masks that only left their mouth and chin uncovered. What intrigued Weiss was that all of them had fanus traits and wore a logo that resembled a panther with three slash marks going diagonally down.

"That looks a lot like the White Fang logo…that would explain why they are all fanus, but isn't that group peaceful?"

"That's Weiss Schnee isn't it? What are you guys waiting for, kill her!"

Immediately, Weiss conjures a speed glyph at her feet and a white glyph at her hands. She had seen this trick done by Winter one sparring match when Albedo had disarmed their older sister.

The grunts futilely attempted to shoot at the young Schnee as she slid past them. As the soldiers turned they looked down to see the floor littered with small glyphs. Before their instincts could tell them to run, a countless number of ice shards shot out from underneath them and the grunts fell unceremoniously

"Well that was a lot easier than I expected." Weiss said as she smirked. "Maybe I was just worrying over nothing"

Just as Weiss finished her thought a large shark fanus charged at her with a gruesome blood stained sledgehammer. But before the weapon could make contact with Weiss' head a voice shouted out from behind the Schnee.

"Anemo Test 6308!"

Behind the shark fanus a large cube structure formed. It seemed to be created from the wind itself and took on a seafoam green color. The cube itself had ethereal wings that appeared to come to life as it flapped its wings and sucked the large attacker towards its center. The shark fanus was then sent hurling into the air and blown back again by a gust.

Weiss looked back to see a petite girl around her age with bright mint green hair with a streak of blue and fox-like animal ears that were angled downward. Her eyes were amber colored and she wore a black round spectacles. The girl was dressed in a blue corset with a ruffled hem and white gloves and boots with golden accents, and black-thigh highs with garter.

"O-Oh! I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to barge in so rudely. I promise! Please don't be angry with me…" Said the girl while bowing her head and apologizing profusely.

Weiss, taken aback by the sudden apology, grew a small blush on her cheeks "What am I doing?! Come on Weiss, act professional!"

"Uhmm…Well thank you kindly for your assistance. May I ask your name?"

The girl sheepishly looked up and responded.

"M-my name? I-I'm Sucrose…"

Sucrose! I absolutely love her character and I had planned to add her to the story from the start. I should really build her in on my Genshin account, but I already have Kazuha and Jean fighting over artifacts so Sucrose will have to wait. Anyways hope you enjoyed! Feel free to leave a review.
