Chapter 6: You Make Me Feel
Sesshomaru turned into another aisled frustrated as he eyed the enormous variety of children's toys, he picked up another action figure trying to figure out what exactly a five year old boy would want for his birthday. This wasn't exactly his area of expertise; he was an only child and thus didn't have any nieces or nephews to spoil, his cousin Naraku had just gotten married and they were taking their time in the baby department and he hadn't had a serious relationship in quite a while, if he was being honest he hadn't taken a beta seriously since Inuyasha. He sighed knowing he shouldn't have waited until the last minute to pick something out, but he had been incredibly busy the entire week. Kagura had decided to be a complete bitch, and before signing his account over to Koga, she had double booked him for photoshoots and meetings with his nutritionist and of course practice! He was exhausted; he rolled his shoulders trying to expel the tension building in his sore muscles, he was running on fumes having been awake since 4 am; he still had a meeting with his coach this evening to look over this new season's plays.
"What the fuck does a five year old even need" he thought, as he walked over to the electronic cars. An arched silver eyebrow raised, as he approached the black small electronic car.
"Batman electric car, 266.99$" he read, he smirked and picked up the large box and walked over towards the cashier.
"This kid better love this thing" he thought as he stood behind an elderly woman, he moved up the line and placed the large box on belt. He sighed, waiting patiently for the cashier to scan the present.
"Did you find everything today" the annoyed teenager asked, popping her gum
He hummed, and pulled out his wallet
"That will be 286.75$ will that be cash or card"
"Credit" he said nonchalantly, pulling out his black card and paying for the enormous box. He picked up the box not waiting for the receipt, he walked out of the Toys R Us into the mall, he weaved through the crowd towards the exit. Bright red lights caught the corner of his eye, he stopped and turned his head towards the small store.
"Curry's Art Store" he read, smiling as he walked over to the store not bothering to pay attention to the waving employee. He walked over towards the paint aisle, eyeing the selection; before they had broken up Inuyasha had been experimenting with paint, it was clear that the beta simply hadn't had the time to explore his creative side and express himself! Back in their college days, the beta had loved everything fashion and art, wanting nothing more than to create an avante garde fashion atelier but life obviously got in the way of his dreams and his ex husband didn't seem to care about whether the half demon was happy or not.
He eyed the oil paint, trying to figure out the difference between watercolors and oil. He squinted his eyes trying to focus on the small tubes, and the color palettes.
"Are you looking for anything specific" a woman asked
He turned around, looking at the small woman, he said "Ah I'm not really sure, my friend was a designer and I wanted to get him something to experiment"
The woman nodded, picking up a pastel oil paint palette, she said softly "This is actually really great for beginners, I can pair it with some charcoal and a couple of canvases! Does he need a sketch pad"
He hummed nodding, "Yeah I think so, Can I just meet you at the check out"
"Yes of course" the woman beamed, disappearing into the next aisle
He held the box in his other hand, and checked his watch, and figured he had enough time. He walked towards the cashier, taking his time allowing him to look through the small bins, he approached the cashier and waited for the small woman. He sighed, sliding his eyes closed, as fatigue passed through his body. He wondered if this was what being someone's partner was like; constant running around, children's birthday parties and buying little trinkets while trying to juggle a career. He had called Inuyasha last night, wanting to check in on the beta, he smiled at the thought of their conversation. They had talked into the wee hours of the morning, talking about everything from the last five years to how he felt about being a single parent; the beta had confided in him about his fears. The half demon secretly wondered if he would be enough for his two children, he of course reassured him that he could handle it and that he wouldn't be alone.
The thought of having two small children to raise, and look after caused him to chew the inside of his cheek. He was certainly attracted to the snowy haired half demon, and his heart skipped a beat whenever he heard his voice but was he truly ready to be a father? Nonetheless to two children that he didn't share DNA with, truthfully he hadn't thought about settling down or having kids, but lately he found himself wondering what it would be like.
"Sir, are you ready to cash out"
He shook his head focusing his attention on the small woman who appeared out of nowhere, he smiled and said "Ah yeah sorry" he pulled his black card out and simply swiped, grabbing the two bags he walked back into the mall.
He moved fast through the crowd, dodging the oncoming group of people. He reached the exit and pushed the doors open, revealing the parking lot. He quickly found his car and dropped the box and bags into the back seat. He climbed into the driver seat, and pulled out of the parking lot quickly and sped down the street, he cracked his neck trying to relieve tension as he held the steering wheel tightly. He eyed his phone, as the small device rang, he leaned over and quickly connected it to the bluetooth in his car.
"Hello" he said
"Uhm hey, it's me" a soft voice filled the car
He smiled and said "I know, what's up Thickness"
"I ah need a favour, and I wouldn't ask but I'm kinda running out of time. I forgot to pick up Tanner's birthday cake and the bakery closes at 6:30! It's Jacoby's on Clarkson" Inuyasha rambled
He looked at the clock, 5:45pm beamed back to him. He roughly turned the wheel, the tire squealed in protest, as he made a fast u turn.
"I'm going to go pick it up now" he said as he sped down the street in the opposite direction
"Oh thank god! Thank you Sesshomaru" Inuyasha huffed
He smirked, and said "No problem Thickness, you can pay me back later
"Yeah of course, I'll give you the money-"
He scrunched his nose, rolled his eyes and said "I don't want your money baby"
"Oh ah then what?"
"You know I have the worst pain in my neck and shoulders, I could really use a massage" he smirked
"Argh you're such a perv"
"What? It's just a massage" he said innocently
"Yeah and if memory serves, your massages always turned into something else"
"What can I say? You've got the magic touch"
Inuyasha's laugh rang through his car, a smile tugged at his lips as he enjoyed the sound
"You're something else"
He laughed, and said "Only for you Thickness"
"Mhm I bet! Don't forget tomorrow at 12pm at the Metro Fun Centre"
"I know! I'll be there early!" he said smiling
"Uhm Sesshomaru?"
"Yeah, what's up?"
"I just wanted to thank you for helping me pay for this! I promise to back you back"
He shook his head, and said "Ain't nothin to thank me for baby! I told ya, I'll do whatever ya need"
"Still thanks, uhm I have to run! I still have to wrap these gifts"
"Okay Thickness, see ya tomorrow"
"Yeah, tomorrow"
He waited till he heard the click before he pulled over, briefly parking on the side of the road. He grabbed his keys and jogged over to the bakery entrance, he had luckily hadn't been too far from the Clarkson.
He pulled the glass door open, and rushed over to the cashier quickly. "Afternoon, I'm here to pick up a cake for Inuyasha Takahashi" he said, ripping his wallet from his back pocket, and pulling out his credit card.
"Oh yes, your husband called ahead and said you'd be picking it up" the man said
He froze briefly, his mind jarring at the sound of the word "husband", his golden eyes widened as the cashier turned to grab the cake sitting on the counter. He hadn't even been called someone's boyfriend in the past five years, let alone confused for someone's husband. He simply wasn't the type; he figured the cashier must have confused what Inuyasha said but a tiny part of him wondered if perhaps, the half demon had let those words slip from his lips.A committed relationship, he could wrap his brain around but marriage was simply not something that he cared for.
"45.86$"
He shook his head, willing himself back to reality.
"Fuck I really need to sleep!" he thought to himself, he was starting to go crazy, he paid for the cake and grabbed it quickly. Running out of the bakery, leaving the small human man in a state of confusion. He walked over to his car on the other side of the road, slid the cake into the passenger safely, he opened the drivers door and slid inside. He pulled away from the bakery, steering his thoughts away from the baker's works and pushing down the strange heated tingles that started to manifest shortly after.
Inuyasha sighed as he continued to cut the large wrapping paper laid out in front of him, the TV buzzed quietly in the background while he placed the small gift in the centre. Lifting the corners and tapping them to the box, aligning them perfecting and repeating the motions.
"Jeez anal much?" Kagome teased, as she peeling the price tags off the toys
He rolled his eyes, and he finished wrapping the small package and grabbing the next one.
"I just want Tanner to have a good birthday" he said quietly
Kagome looked up at him through her bangs, crossing her arms in front of her chest. She eyed the half demon, "Yash it's not about the gifts! He's five" she said sincerely
Clawed hands paused briefly, a heavy sigh left his body, "I just don't want him feel like he's missing out"
"Missing out?"
"His life has drastically changed in a short time"
She rolled her blue eyes, chucking and said "Yash I get that the 'burbs are pretty far out from here but he's still in Atlanta"
"That's not what I meant" he said pointedly glaring at the small woman
"Then what do you mean? Cause Metro Fun Centre, and like 8 gifts, you can't afford with a clown and face painting is a bit extreme for a five year old"
He huffed, slamming the scissors down causing her jump slightly. She looked at him in shock, as he took in a deep breath, pulling his bottom lip between his teeth.
"His father is never around Kagome! He doesn't call, and if he does! It's not too talk to Tanner, it's to yell at me. He went from having a big room, and a playroom to having to share his room with his baby sister." he said firmly glaring at her
She hummed shaking her head briefly, trying to formulate the best response. She swallowed harshly and said "Did I ever tell you about my parents?"
His ears twitched, and he shook his head "No, you never talk about your life in Texas"
She chuckled dryly and said "I grew up a lot like Tanner did, suburbs in Texas! In public we were perfect, our clothes ironed and pleated; we smilled til our faces hurt and went to church every Sunday"
She craned her neck and looked up at the ceiling, feeling the tears begin to form. She cleared her throat and continued "My father was a deacon, and appearances were everything to him but behind closed doors he would beat me and my mom, if she even dared to breathe wrong he'd backhand her right in the mouth. I wasn't allowed to speak out of turn, let alone have any opinions! He raised me to believe that demons were evil, and needed to be purged from society. I lived in constant fear until university, when I met Ryu and he showed me how a man is supposed to treat a woman! He's never even raised his voice at me"
A frown marred his face as he listened to her, her lips trembled as she continued to confide in him.
"When I managed to gather the courage to tell my parents about Ryu, my father flew into a rage. He called the devils whore, and disowned me! My mother just stood there and watched him scream horrible things at him; once he was done, she walked with me to my room in silence and packed my things. It took me a long time to forgive my mother for how she behaved that night but I could never get past her choice to stay. She let me and my brother live in that nightmare! Believe me Tanner isn't upset that his shitty father isn't around to yell and hurt his papa and he sure as fuck doesn't need all this crap" she said forcefully tears spilling from her wide blue eyes.
They sat in silence, as she cried quietly. He hesitantly reached over to her and pulled her close to his chest. His chin resting on her raven haired crown; he hummed as she sobbed. Everyday this small dainty woman wowed him with her strength and beautiful heart; they'd never spoken about her past in such depth, she'd always shrugged off any questions.
He held her tightly, and muttered "Your father is a dick"
She laughed, brushing the tears from her eyes "Argh you have no fucking idea?" she said, chuckling as she laid her head on his chest.
"Did I tell you that Kakashi is coming tomorrow?" he said trying to lighten the heavy air
Kagome's head shot up, her blue eyes wide as she shook her head vigorously "Wait! He's coming tomorrow? When the fuck did that happen"
He sighed, and tilted his head back "He called yesterday to ask what I was doing for Tanner's birthday-"
She raised her hand, and said "What are you doing? As if he didn't help create an entire child"
He chuckled, and said " Yeah! Well he asked where the party was and said he would be there"
She frowned and said "Oh ew! Whatever me and Ryu will be there too so he can't try anything"
He nodded, and pinched the bridge of his nose "I ah also invited Sesshomaru" he said cautiously
"WHAT" she screeched
His ears flattened at the harsh sound emanating from the dainty woman, he groaned "Will you hush! I'm pretty sure the queen of england heard ya"
"The queen of england doesn't have her ex husband and boyfriend coming to her son's birthday party" she squealed, clenching her stomach as she laughed loudly
"First of all, if you wake Tanner and Rea! I'm making you put them back to bed, second of all, Sesshomaru is not my boyfriend! We're just friends" he said pointedly
"Yash! Stevie Wonder could tell that you both have the hots for each other, and he is incredibly sexy! My god, the man is hard EVERYWHERE" she giggled
He smirked and said "Does your husband know that you're lusting after another man"
"Pfft! Oh please, I suck my husbands dick so hard he's cross eyed; he literally couldn't see me flirting with the floor"
He laughed, clenching his stomach "Ew okay wrong visual"
She shrugged and said "All i'm saying is, you deserve to have a fucking orgasm or two!"
"I need more than just sex Kagome" he sighed, reaching for the small toy box
"Okay! Tell me what you need!" Kagome said, grabbing the box from his hand and forcing him to focus on her pointed question.
He sighed, and said quietly "I don't know, I uhm I want romance, and flowers, I want a man to wake up in the morning and make me breakfast, and feed the kids! Let me sleep in ya know, I want someone who's going to love me"
"And you don't think Sesshomaru could do that? Didn't you two used to date?"
He dipped his head back, and spoke softly "Yeah we did, and it was intense"
Kagome moved closer to him, resting her chin on her hand, she hummed, urging him to continue.
He smiled as the memories flooded his mind, they had been so young but still so deeply in love. He had met Sesshomaru during his second year at Georgia State, the young green quarterback swept him off his feet.
"He was a freshman, and the most gorgeous man I'd ever seen! He was such a hot head, and passionate; he's a lot bigger now! Way more muscle and enough confidence to fill up the staples centre. Back then he was earnest, sincere and sweet! He listened to all of my dreams, and even let me sketch him a few times for class" he chuckled remembering how much convincing it took to get Sesshomaru to stand still, and nude for his living portrait piece.
"Sounds like he's perfect" she sung sweetly, earning a glare from the beta
He groaned, and said "He's different now! He's this hotshot millionaire quarterback who-"
"Who helps you with the kids, and listens to your problems and clearly cares about you! The only thing that's changed is his bank account" she said holding his hand tightly
He shook his head, and allowed it to fall back. His honey eyes hidden behind his tan lids, as a chuckle rose from his throat.
"I was madly in love with him! He was actually my first" he whispered remembering the awkward, silly and passionate night he lost his virginity
Kagome's jaw slacked as she pulled back, her eyes shinning with mirth as she said "Wait a minute! He was your first? Like ever?"
He nodded as a blush crept on his face, he bit his lip and sighed "If i tell you something you have to SWEAR never to repeat it" he said as he lifted a clawed finger, pointing at her, his eyes
She nodded vigorously and said "Of course" she bounced slightly awaiting his confession
"He's the only man that ever made me finish" he admitted quickly, shutting his eyes firmly
Her mouth dropped, as she tried to wrap her brain around the piece of information, "Wait a minute, you're telling me that in the five years you and Kakashi were together he never made you cum?"
He nodded, and waved his hands cautiously "Don't get me wrong the sex was okay, but I just never got there"
"Did he notice?"
"I'd fake it"
Kagome barked in laughter "Of course you did! Oh my god, okay wait; how was sex with Sesshomaru?"
He bit his lip, his face red "Hot"he whispered
"If it was so amazing back then! Imagine what it would be like now, after he's had years to perfect his stoke" she said smirking, popping her tongue as she bounced her eyebrows and winked at him.
He bit his lips, and sighed "Exactly! I'm sure Sesshomaru Riviera has only gotten better with time! Like fine wine, but I'm just this" he said pulling on his shirt erratically, groaning loudly
"Yash, you're a-"
"Divorcee whose husband is banging a pilates instructor" he said sighing pulling his bottom lip between his teeth as a familiar feeling of numbness spread through his chest.
He grabbed the scissors, and continued cutting the gift wrapped trying to distract himself from her intense gaze.
"Kakashi is a tool, and that doesn't mean you're bad in bed" she began
He continued cutting through the paper ignoring her statement as he placed the scissors down on the wooden floor. He gingerly grabbed the small toy box, and positioned it in the middle of the sheet of paper and began tapping it to the box, covering each side with the blue paper.
"Yasha?" she asked, dipping her head lowly, trying to catch his gaze.
He sighed, and whispered "What if I'm not any good" he bit his lip, and tried to continue to tape the corners down.
"Why would you think you aren't good in bed" she asked, raising her eyebrows as if it was the stupidest thing she had ever heard.
He shook his head, and said "Just forget it okay, can you help me finish these?" as he continued wrapping Tanner's gifts. He heard her sigh but silently appreciated her willingness to cease her string of questions. He knew Kagome wouldn't understand what he was feeling; Ryu was an attentive husband who was wrapped around her tiny finger, he treated his wife like a queen, rightfully so. She wouldn't understand because her husband cherished her; Kakakashi treated him like a nuisance, he was crass and rude only changing when he wanted to have sex and foolishly he fell for it everytime allowing the bull demon to slide inside of him. Only to be left with a sinking feeling of disgust, with himself and his husband; the moment the bull demon finished grunting on top of him, he'd lay beside him and resume his harsh treatment. More often than not, critiquing his performance, pointing out any flaws he had and it always looped back around to his size. His husband made him feel like he was the problem, like he couldn't perform properly. He was rough during their love making, if he could even call it that, it felt more like two strangers fucking. It sure left him feeling like a one stand, used and unsatisfied.
He had tried on multiple occasions to spice up their sex lives but between running after Tanner and taking care of their big house he was simply exhausted by the time his husband came home. He managed to go down on his husband a few times a week but the bull demon was never satisfied and he secretly hated the task. The alpha demon would roughly grab his hair and pull it tightly, treating him more like a hole than a person, Kakakashi was never gentle and then he'd erupt all over his face; he hated how he felt in his mouth and what he tasted like.
Sesshomaru's presence was like a breath of fresh air; he never spoke down to him and he secretly loved the attention Sesshomaru was showing him, it had been so long since anyone had called him beautiful or flirted with him. The way he had grabbed his ass at the courthouse,even if it had just been to make his ex husband jealous, filled his dreams with fantasies of those large hands kneading his ass, parting his thighs, gripping him tightly before pushing himself inside of him. The sound of joyous laughter filled the large party room, kids ran behind him as he stood in front of the sweets table; fidgeting with the cupcake tower and nervously trying to place the blue coloured baked goods in an organized pattern. He had stayed up all night icing cupcakes, and baking cookies wanting Tanner to have a great party. His father had called earlier that morning to wish his grandson a happy birthday, expressing his regrets. Apparently the shop was busier than usual and he simply couldn't spare the time. He snorted knowingly, his father realistically just didn't want to come.
He eyed the clock diligently as he attempted to hid from Kakashi; the bull demon had the never to bring his lover to his sons birthday party. He didn't know what was worse the fact that he actually brought the blond panther or that there were currently in the corner groping each other. He rolled his eyes and sighed, silently wondering why he married that insufferable asshole.
"Hey you" a deep voice said behind him, he felt a hot breath on his neck. Tiny hairs on the back of his neck stood up as he watched a pale forearm bare against the small table, his gaze fell as he looked at the large hand gripping the table. The heavy clawed hand looked comical and out of place atop the cartoon plastic table covering; he felt the demon's chest pressed against his back.
He struggled to turn around, his body caught between the table and the alpha demon's body. He faced him, staring into warm golden eyes, he sucked in a breath as he stood so closely to him. Inches from pale pink lips, he swallowed harshly.
"Hey Sesshomaru" he said faintly, he watched pale lips tug into a smile that warmed his chest.
Sesshomaru leaned closer, and said, looking down "You look nice, are these new?"
He looked down at his pants, the tight black yoga pants he had bought at the last minute, well yesterday evening after obsessing over what he should wear.
He hummed, nodding his head vigorously, and said "Yeah I got them yesterday at Costco"
Sesshomaru chuckled eyeing him haughty, before he said lowly "Only you could make grocery store yoga pants look hot"
With his mouth dry, he licked his lips and smiled, not daring to speak. The silver haired demon took a step back, giving him a clear view of his tight blue jeans. He dragged his eyes up the demon's body, his breath hitching at the tight red V neck shirt that stretched across his broad chest.
"Where do I put these?" Sesshomaru's husky voice shook him from his luid fantasy
His eyes dropped to the ground, looking at the large wrapped gift that sat underneath the birthday cake. His eyes widened as his head shot up, "What that big box for?" he asked
"It's Tanner's gift" Sesshomaur said shrugging
He looked at the large wrapped gift, and nodded wondering what could possibly be that big, for a child. He grabbed the cake, and placed it on the sweet treat table, removing the plastic covering.
"Tanner looks like he's havin a great time" Sesshomaru said, pointing towards the little brown haired boy running around, his laughter echoing through the large room as he played with his friends.
He smiled at the scene, and said softly "Mhm he makes it all worth it" he turned to face the demon, and continued "Thanks again for coming, and grabbing the cake and paying for most of it! I promise I'll pay-"
Sesshomaru took his hand into his own, "Yash you ain't gotta keep thankin me, I wanna do it." Sesshomaru said sincerely
"Hey Sesshomaru! " Kagome said, as she walked up behind him,her husband following closely behind.
He turned around with blush creeping on his face, he shook his head at the smirk adoring her face. She bounced her eyebrows suggestively, and looked down at his hand, where he could still feel the alpha demons fingers wrapped around his hand. He felt tingles through his body as Sesshomaru's fingers rubbed the skin atop his hand and weaved through his fingers.
"Hey Kagome, how are ya?" Sesshomaru said
"I'm good, it's good to see you here!"
Sesshomaru nodded, looking down at the blushing half demon, Sessomaru smiled and said "I wouldn't miss it"
"Oh erm this is Ryu, Kagome's husband" he said, pointing at the dragon demon dumbly, his brain short circuiting as Sesshomaru dropped his hand, and placed it on the small of his back, just low enough to barely touch the top of his ass.
"Hey man!" Sesshomaru reached over, and shook the dragon demon's hand.
He bit his lip, feeling the heavy hard dip lower. He was certainly going to go insane, with how the alpha demon was touching him, he looked up at Sesshomaru watching him talk to his neighbors, his strong jaw flexing as he laughed. Golden eyes shined bright against perfect blemish free skin,his silver hair hung freely, framing his face.
"He's beautiful" he thought
"Has he said anything?" Kagome asked shaking him free of his thoughts
"Who" he said prying his eyes from adonis beauty standing next to him
Kagome chuckled and exclaimed "Kakakshi!"
He frowned, and turned his head searching for the bull demon. His eyes widened as he looked into angry blue eyes, his ex husband was looking straight at him glaring furiously.
"Oh uhm I forgot he was here" he said quietly
Kagome howled in laughter, gripping her stomach as he pried his eyes away from the pissed off demon.
"Who's that with em" Ryu said, cocking an eyebrow
"Lakio" he said softly, his eyes trained to the ground
"Whose that?" Ryu asked,earning a jab from his wife, she glared at him pointedly.
He sighed, looking up at the dragon demon, and said "The man he left me for"
Sesshomaru pulled him closer to him, causing him to stumble briefly. He heard the alpha growling slowly, the sound rumbling in his chest.
"You want em to leave?" Sesshomaru asked, looking over at the bull demon, glaring at the pair.
He shook his head, looking up in awe at the alpha demon. "No, he should be here for Tanner,'' he said, slightly enjoying Sesshomaru's protective nature.
Sesshomaru hummed, turning to face him and looked down at him, his gaze softening as he peered down at him. "You say the word and he's gone"
He nodded, gingerly placing his head on the alpha's stomach and allowing the demon to comfort him quietly. He closed his eyes, enjoying the warmth resonating from the larger man's body, he felt strong arms wrap around him.
"Daddy Daddy!" Tanner exclaimed, causing the two men to jolt forward, he looked down at his son approaching him quickly. He did, however, notice that the demon didn't pull away, instead he held him still.
"Are you having fun baby?" he asked warmly
Tanner nodded quietly, biting his small lip he said "Daddy, I want Papa to play too?"
He sighed, moving to rack his hand through his hair. He nodded, took the little boy's hand, moving towards the bull demon sitting at the circular table, Sesshomaru stayed at his side as he rolled his eyes at the blonde man sitting on his ex husband's lap, petting his chest lovingly.
He approached the couple, with Tanner in toe he looked down at his usually bubbly son. He noticed the small brown haired boy shyly hiding behind him as he stood underneath his alpha father's gaze.
"Papa" Tanna said quietly, his head dipped towards the ground
The bull demon sat with Lakio perched on his lap, hugging the lythe man tighty, Kakashi said roughly "Speak up boy, and quit slouching"
Sesshomaru raised a slender silver eyebrow as he looked at the so-called alpha, a frown tugging at his lips. He crossed his arms in front his chest, as he stood firmly beside Inuyasha;he clicked his tongue and said "You're son wants to -"
Kakashi cut him off quickly, with a smirk "Yes my son" Kakashi said pointed
He rolled his eyes, throwing a glare at the blonde panther. He clenched his jaw and took a step closer, he looked back at the small boy and Inuyasha before facing the blonde beta.
"Move! Now" he said firmly, his voice low. He watched the beta slide off the bull demon's lap, he lowered his head and stood inches from the other alpha's face.
"You've got two options, either you go and play nice with the child ya created or I will drag you outta here and beat ya like a persian rug in front of god and everybody" he said pointedly, his golden eyes glaring into blue ones.
The bull demon paused and eyed him as he stood in front of the demon, willing the other alpha to watched blue eyes dart towards the small boy hiding behind Inuyasha's leg, the bull demon cleared his throat and rose from his chair, frowning at him. They stood face to face as Kakashi grunted "Come Tanner" blue orbs staring intensely into a golden glare.
Kakakashi's command hung in the air, as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.
"Tanner, I said come here" Kakakashi barked, causing the small boy to jump at the sound of his father's order; his blue eyes widened in fear.
He took a step forward, closing the gap between himself and the bull demon, he said firmly "Watch it"
Kakakshi's head whipped in the small boy's direction, glaring at the little boy trembling, and said loudly "Boy! I said come here! Don't make me repeat myself"
The bull demon's voice bounced through the room causing people to turn and face the family squabble, Inuyasha turned his head and watched the concerned look on the parents face. A sad look donned the half demon's face as he watched his son cower away from his alpha parent.
"Kakashi enough please, he just wants to play with you! Can't you just -" Inuyasha said softly pleading with his ex husband
"Shut up, no one asked for your fucking whining" Kakashi spat
He growled deeply, and said "You're done, get the fuck out"
The bull demon smirked and said "What exactly are you going to do? In a room full of people, huh? Wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize that big football contract!"
Kagome and Ryu stood behind Inuyasha, trying to comfort the half demon and the small frightened child.
"He can't but I can. I could arrest you for public disturbance" Ryu said confidently, a smirk appearing on the dragon demons lips.
Tension hung thickly in the air between the three alpha's as they glared at each other, Inuyasha stood watching the scene, he bit his lip timidly, wanting nothing more than to slink away from the macho bravado behavior. His ears twitched as the sound of sniffling filled his ears, he looked down and his heart clenched at the sight of tears streaming down the tan child's face. Anger bubbled in his gut, as his head whipped around towards the alpha demons. He let go of Tanner's hand and stalked towards the bull demon, he looked up at his ex husband whose eyes were trained on Sesshomaru.
"What was the point of coming here if you were only going to act like an asshole" Inuyasha spat glaring up at the demon; the bull demon looked down at the beta taken back by the sudden harshness in Inuyasha's tone
"Who do you think you're speaking to Inuyasha" Kakakshi said pointedly
Inuyasha rolled his eyes and huffed "Respect goes both ways Kakashi and you threw that away when you decided to slither inside of someone else, and abandon your family"
The bull demon took a step forward only to be halted by a strong pale hand, Inuyasha shook his head and said "He's your son and you can't even take a second to spend some time with him on his birthday! I honestly don't know what I ever saw in you"
Inuyasha backed away, thoroughly disgusted by his ex husband. He took his son's hand walked over to the ball pit, leaving the alpha's to handle his idiotic ex husband, he took in a sharp breath feeling somewhat emboldened. A small smile tugged at his lips as a sigh left his body; he had never spoken to his ex husband like that; it felt good.
The rest of the day dragged on without much notice; Sesshomaru and Ryu had thrown Kakashi out, thankfully without a scene. He couldn't understand why the bull demon was being such an asshole but as the day went on, he tried to recall a time during their marriage that the bull demon hadn't been a terrible self centered asshole; a morose feeling washed over him as he realized he couldn't find one.
During their marriage he had walked on eggshells trying to create peace in their household and since the kids where small and hadn't started talking, it had been easy to camouflage into the wallpaper but his children were becoming tiny people with their own minds, and we're sadly beginning to see what kind of man their alpha parent really was.
The party concluded easily;Tanner quickly forgot about his alpha parent, the second he tore into his first present .The little boy received so many new toys, and clothes that he silently worried where'd he put them all. Although all presents were overshadowed by Sesshomaru's gift, a large car-like toy;his jaw dropped at the exgravent gift! The large batman car was sleek and black, with golden yellow accents; Tanner had been so excited to jump in and start driving around he immediately forgot about everyone else. The sight warmed his heart, and as he looked over at Sesshomaru who smiled at the little boy so warmly; he couldn't help but adore the alpha demon.
They arrived back to the apartment rather quickly, with Tanner and Rea passed out from all the excitement. They managed to haul all the gifts, and left over food and treats back upstairs, the four of them walked up the flight of stairs, as he opened his apartment door quietly, not wanting to wake the children. Kagome and Ryu tucked all the bags, and boxes neatly in a corner in the closet and said their goodnights before disappearing into the hallway. He looked over at Sesshomaru who held Tanner tighty; the sweet scene warmed his heart.
Sesshomaru placed the little boy in his bed, and tucked him in tightly before waiting for him in the living room. He carefully put Rea in her crib, before turning off the light and closing the door; he sighed and smiled at the silver haired demon.
"Jeez I'm beat" Inuyasha said, stretching his arms, he looked over at the clock.
Neon lights glared back at him, 8:38pm.
Sesshomaru hummed, and cracked his neck before he said "I second that! How do ya do this all day?"
Inuyasha laughed warmly, and leaned against the wall smiling at him as he said "They make it all worth it"
Sesshomaru gingerly walked over towards the door, and grabbed two plastic white bags. He looked over at the beta, whose eyes were closed and his head tilted back.
"I bought you a little somethin'" he said nervously, he opened the bag and held it out to the snowy haired beta.
Inuyasha cocked his head, and dropped his gaze to the bags held tightly in Sesshomaru's hand, he tentatively reached out for the bag and opened it. Inside he found paint brushes, charcoal, oil paint and a large sketch pad, his eyes widened and darted up to the alpha demon.
"What's this"
"I remembered back in college that you wanted to play around with paint so I stopped by one of those art supply stores. Figured with me around, you'll have some time to create again"
Inuyasha stood stunning, his mouth agape as he tried to process the words that left the alpha's mouth. He bit his lip, and tears pricked in his eyes, he swallowed shallowly and said softly "Sessh you didn't have too"
He smiled brightly, and reached out grabbing the beta's small hand sweetly, he said "You deserve to follow your dreams Yasha"
