Sesshomaru made his way up the hillside till he found the place that held the woman supposedly meant for him, or say they say.
He had high standers.
Of course, the moment he entered he knew who it was.
Her back was to him, she was knelt down, just waiting in the dark. He took the torch and lit the light, not only to signal he was there but to get a better look, just to be sure his sense was not playing with him.
"Kagome,"
She quickly looks at him "Sesshomaru?" She stands, she does not remove her vail "Is something wrong?"
He can't believe this. He wanted to say his father lied but he knew better, but that didn't mean the demon had not left hints everywhere for Kaede.
"You see me and think something is wrong?"
Kagome was confused and then it hits her like a ton of stone, and she backs up "You?"
He stares at her, contemplating. She turns, goes back, knees down and waits. Her fingers dig into her dress, both outcomes will leave her with a fast-beating heart.
"So, you will accept this fate?"
Kagome looks at him "That is not for me to decide My Lord,"
"Speak openly,"
"Did you father do this?" She speaks freely,
"You think so?"
"I'm not unaware of his affection towards me,"
"So, you thought this may happen?"
"No,"
He slightly narrowed his eyes not fully believing her,
"I mean, it crossed my mind for mere second, but I dismissed it,"
"Why?"
"You can deny me easily so what would have been the point?"
"And send you to spend your life alone with a dishonored name," Perhaps had she been someone else that would have been a easy out.
She looked away "There is a reason I never chose, even when your father and Lady Kaede asked of me,"
"You were given a choice and did not choose?"
"I guess this would anger you, if I had you would not be standing here,"
"You would not have chosen me?" It wasn't asking in a vain manner and yet it still was a vain question but not
She looks his way again "I, I just wanted to be chosen,"
"Given the choice, any other woman would have chosen me,"
"Are you angry because I didn't?" He was confusing her, but he often did when he spoke.
"I do not like being fooled,"
"I will go," She stood and tried not to be sad. It wasn't shocking but still rejection stung.
But as she moved to pass him his arm came out and caught her around the waist. She looked up but he could see nothing through the vail. But if he lifted it, that was it.
But something in him wanted to see her eyes, to see her face. He wondered, were their tears under there or was she relived. All the got from her was nervousness.
His free hand went to the vail but she quickly grabbed his hand "If you-
"Be silent,"
She slowly let her hand fall in obedience. He slowly lifted the vail and let it fall on the floor behind her. Her hair fell down in waves around her and he looked into her eyes.
There was something in them, but what he didn't know. But there were no tears, maybe a slightly hurt looked and something else.
He took note of her red lips and ran his thumb across it to remove it. He disliked it as much as she did.
"Would you accept this?" He asked lowering his face to hers,
"Would you?"
He yanked her hair a bit "Answer my question onna,"
"Hia My Lord," Like she could say no, not that she would but this was going to be interesting.
"You would be foolish not to,"
There was that sadness again, no matter he would replace it with something else.
Perhaps more shock, his lips met with hers.
