...
Food was laid out before him. One wouldn't know it by looking at him but Giran was a decent cook. Giran insisted on feeding him whenever they had the chance for a sit down meal.
Katsudon had been made as it was Izuku's favorite. No matter how many times Giran made him food it always brought a half smile to see the man with his sleeves rolled up in his kitchen. If the underworld could see him now they would think they had lost their minds.
"Kid," came Giran's slightly annoyed voice, "Shut up."
Izuku snorted, "Guess I mumbled that huh?"
"Yes."
Izuku had to bite his lip to keep from bursting out in laughter. It seemed that his mumbling never fully went away. Now it only came out when he was distracted or was comfortable around the another person. That currently only applied to Giran.
Currently on the table in front of Izuku was a letter. It was heavier than he had expected when he originally picked it up. There was a bulge in it indicating something was inside beyond simple paper. On the back of it had been UA's seal.
Unlike most hero hopefuls Izuku did not immediately open it. Instead he brought it to Giran's place unsure whether or not he wanted to know if he passed. A part of him hoped he didn't just so that he didn't have to deal with the kids. Being an assassin in a school full of teenagers was a disaster waiting to happen. In the exam alone he had to fight against every instinct within him to not kill the blue haired boy. It would only get worse being in a full classroom.
Giran brought two plates piled with food over. The mouth watering scents made his stomach growl appreciatively. A faint look of amusement was given. Izuku glared in response but his hands were already reaching for the plates.
There was a wave from Giran and they both dug into the food. As expected from his friend the food was perfectly made. It filled him and left him feeling perfectly satisfied but not overly stuffed.
When they were done Giran took the plates away. This left Izuku to glare at the envelope. He couldn't put it off much longer than he already had. Giran would want to know if he made it into UA. If they had actually pulled off the insane plan.
Giran said with a growl, "Don't just stare at it. Enough time has passed. Open the damn letter."
Izuku glowered at them but still he reached for the letter. He tore the envelope a disk fell onto the table. As soon as it made contact it lit up and a projection came to life.
"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!" All Might's smiling face beamed down at Izuku.
This time he was unable to suppress a shudder. Izuku could not stand the Number One Hero. Despite what his public persona he was a quirkist. He would discourage anyone without a physical quirk from becoming a hero. But only in private away from the eyes of the press.
Izuku saw one such time not long after he came back to Japan. A boy with a mutation quirk had asked if he could be a hero. All Might had told him, no. No he could not be a hero with a mutation quirk. That he should be more realistic and go for being a police officer.
That was impossible for him. Izuku knew that this kid wouldn't be able join the police force. At least not without going through extreme prejudice. Any decent job would take one look at him and refuse. In the end he would become what they called him. A villain.
After All Migjt left Izuku dropped one of Giran's cards into the boy's jacket. He ensured the boy had a chance at a decent life. Something that the Symbol of Peace should have tried rather than telling the boy to give up.
All Might continued on, "You managed to get 67 Villain Points in the exam! Well done, my boy! Normally that is enough for you to pass the exam. However that is not the only criteria for examinees. You were also awarded Rescue Points during the exam! And you, Midoriya Izuku, managed to gain an astonishing 50 Rescue Points!"
He was right. They did have Rescue Points which was good. Unlike most of the applicants he knew this. Giran's sources were rarely wrong as their lives depended on the information. That would ensure he had a place in the school.
Another being appeared on the screen. It was a rat bear thing. Oh oh no. That was the last thing he needed. Without meaning to he had caught the attention of the rat God of UA.
The rat said, "Congratulations! 117 Points puts you at the top of the list! Not only that, but you've broken the record! I look forward to seeing where you go. Welcome Midoriya, to your Hero Academia!"
Izuku said after a moment, "Giran I hate you."
"No you don't."
"Yes I do."
Giran laughed and the hackles on Izuku's neck raised. This man was starting to piss him off.
Giran said sobering up quickly, "This is perfect. With that score you will definitely be in class 1-A. That is the exact class that I need you in."
Izuku questioned darkly, "And what do you have planned for me?"
Giran sighed, "There is a group planning on attacking UA. They are planning on doing an attacking at the first USJ trip. Their goal is to kill All Might."
"Why do you want me there then?"
"Protect the students," ordered Giran in a tone that made him stiffen, "Personally I don't give a damn what happens to the Symbol of Peace. He is a bastard and deserves whatever the hell happens to him. However I don't believe in hurting kids."
So that was it. It wasn't like he could argue with the logic. He didn't like hurting kids either.
"Fine," he said, "I'll protect the kids. But don't expect me to stay longer than that."
Giran's gaze softened slightly as he replied, "Of course not. I would expect nothing less from Jason Bourne after all."
