Here is the next chapter of my story. Please read and review love Sag x
AN: I just wanted to clarify that Harry is with Padma in this story because I got so tired of reading stories like this where he either instantly goes to be with Hermione or worse yet again Ginny. I am sorry but I just don't feel he and Ginny work. I wanted to be different and do something interesting hence this pairing.
Harry knew he wanted Padma but wondered if a marriage contract was the way to go or not? He decided to throw caution to the wind and ask Sirius about it. Sirius was stunned to say the least. He said most pureblood families would accept nothing less than a marriage contract. Harry had been left with no choice but to lie slightly to Sirius. He told him about needing to marry someone at age eighteen over the houses he'd inherited but then lied saying he'd looked at a list of pureblood families and felt that the Patil's were a great match. He'd selected Padma from the list. He himself would need to meet up with her father something he wasn't looking forward to doing but Sirius said he'd be with him for support. Oddly enough when Harry had separately asked for an actual list of purebloods and their children he'd been presented with one so his lie became a reality. He was relieved about that as he hated lying to Sirius. Harish Patil was at home when he got the notification to come to the bank for a marriage contract meeting with the Lord of another pureblood house. He was stunned as he'd not seen it coming.
Actually he'd been in negotiations for both of his twin daughters and it would be interesting to see which of his daughters this Lord wanted and why. He would go with an open mind. He told his wife Pooja about it and she agreed to go with him. When they entered the office at the bank and saw none other than Harry Potter in there they were rendered genuinely speechless once they were told his name of course. They had gone to school with James and Pooja had been in his house and Harry didn't have crazy hair or glasses but did look very like him none the less.
"Hello and welcome. I'm Harry Potter. Now as you can see I have conducted a blood test and discovered I inherited from a few pureblood families. I was informed I would need to marry after school at the age of eighteen and asked to see a list of purebloods and their children which I was given. Your family does many good things and I like the way that it looks. I am very sorry I am not experienced with these things so all I will say is that I wish to select your daughter Padma to marry and I will give her anything she wants for it!" he said nervously as Harish watched him intensely before laughing his head off. Pooja looked at him sternly which only intensified his laughter until it eventually tapered off naturally.
"Oh Mr Potter, Harry, that was terrible but I seriously admire your honesty. You haven't had any experience with this and yet you still gave it a shot and a decent one at that. You are the first person to approach me about my girls who has said that the one you are interested in is her having anything she wishes. Most of these things are about the contract and bride price or dowry and I can see that this is not a priority for you. How very curious indeed. First of all let me say thank you very much for considering my Padma as you have. Usually families discuss what they can get out of it for themselves and you have not done so. I know you will want something so we will get to that later on. Now let's discuss some more options. Lord Black you may join us. I know you're his godfather so I will assume you are here for moral support!" he gestured as they headed towards the table and chairs which had been provided on which there was now a tea set waiting for them. Sirius agreed that he was there to lend his moral support to Harry.
Sirius however looked absolutely mortified that Harry had just blurted everything out because even he wasn't that direct. He should have realised of course that Harry would need instruction in how to do this and felt very stupid that he'd not realised this beforehand. Once they were sitting and they'd all fixed themselves a cup of tea how they liked it Harish turned again to Harry a smile on his face.
"First things first Mr Potter you said you did a heritage test here so please tell me which families you inherited from" he requested as Harry smiled brightly. He might have done it wrong but at least he was being given a chance to prove himself here.
"Of course sir, I inherited from the Peverell, Addlemore, Darkmore and Axel lines" he answered as a stunned Harish sputtered and dropped the cake slice he'd been carrying to his plate on it roughly spraying cream on the table in the process before seeming to come back to himself again and blushing. He waved his wand to clean up the cream. Harry wondered if he'd said the wrong thing here. Pooja cleared her throat and Harry looked at her.
"I'll be honest with you Mr Potter most of the people currently looking into marrying our daughters don't have more than two families they are head of and yet here you are the head of four extraordinary houses. If I had seen anything coming it wouldn't have been this. If I was to allow my darling Padma to marry you which surname would she be expected to take?" she asked as Harry smiled brightly at her. She looked just like Parvati but with Padma's smile. She was very beautiful. The fact that he'd not yet asked for anything for himself was a huge bonus. So many people were so selfish that they often thought solely of what they could get from the marriage and not anything about the girl they'd be marrying. Harry hated that so much. He did have something he wanted from them but he didn't think it was too much to ask but only time would tell.
"Please call me Harry. I don't think it would be wise for her to take the Potter surname as no one needs that kind of attention. Hell even I don't want that kind of attention but here we are none the less. I would rather give her the choice and have her select whichever name she would like to choose. I am not foolish enough to believe her being with me would simply be accepted by everyone and so I wish to rectify that if I can. I would like with your permission ma'am to have something legal in writing drawn up stating that she may never be targeted for this reason by anyone unless they wish to suffer the full extent of the law and both of our families combined. I want anyone who considers doing something bad to her to suffer relentlessly until they learn not to fucking screw with us!" he ranted pausing to drink some of his tea before continuing with a blush on his cheeks.
"I'm so sorry I cursed just now I am just very passionate about this. I just don't trust people to believe me capable of choosing my own partner without coming to all kinds of stupid assumptions such as she must have poisoned me or something. Who the hell am I to dictate what she should call herself! It is this kind of subservient nonsense I hate. We should be equals or nothing and I do mean that. I would only ever want her safety you must understand this!" he said as Pooja reeled a little bit. For a young man he had such sensible and mature thoughts. He'd thought of things she hadn't even considered which embarrassed and annoyed her slightly even if he was right. Harish was very impressed he'd thought so far ahead. He didn't know what had happened to Harry so far in his young life but he clearly had serious trust issues which did mean that everything he said was very logical something he as a prior Ravenclaw really appreciated.
"Ok Harry now I know nothing in this life is free so I'm asking you now man to man to lay it all on the line for me. What is it exactly that you want from me?" Harish asked getting right to the point. If he could find out what Harry truly
"I want political support in the Wizengamot no matter what I choose to vote on. I've been reading on it relentlessly and going through all of their laws and I wish to somehow bring in a law of my own which I want your support with. I am not about to come to this world unprepared for any eventuality. I mean you fail to prepare and we all known you're preparing to fail. Mama didn't raise no fool as the muggles would say. No one will ever take advantage of me ever!" he said very passionately pausing to take a bite of his cake and moaning at the luscious taste of it. It was truly divine after all.
"I want to pass a law which states that it is strictly forbidden for any auror to use any of the unforgiveables only. As I said I have read over laws and reports and all of them state that prisoners or criminals were only stunned and that they escaped shortly thereafter. I couldn't believe how shocked people were over this issue...bloody fools. At least if aurors have more power we'll be more safe and cutting out the darkest spells known to man will go a long way in getting it passed in the Wizengamot" he said as Harish looked very stunned at what Harry was asking. It was quite clear he'd done all of his research and what he was saying was correct. Even Harish himself thought that the aurors were stupid for constantly being shocked that prisoners got away when they'd only stunned them because it was all they were allowed to do. I mean every stunner eventually wears off and they would know this yet they were still stunned. It was so stupid. Sirius himself was shocked that Harry had read so much. There was a major difference in being told someone had done something vs actually seeing it in reality. He was super impressed with Harry. He felt that his godson was doing a great job at expressing himself and was very proud of him. He'd clearly thought a lot on what he wanted from a relationship in the future and it was impressive to say the least.
"For example I overheard some people talking in the pub once and they spoke about the diffindo spell for cutting or pruning roses if you like. The lady said she'd been attacked by a death eater and used this spell on his neck to end his life before he could end hers. I looked up that spell and it's a light one! I just wish to be able to sleep better at night. Also I wish only to support laws and bills which make logical sense and actually helps those who need it and not selfish pureblood bigots in high office!" he snapped as Harish looked stunned.
"Well Harry you certainly know what you want and I am surprised to say that it aligns very closely with what I and my family support. We like laws to support everyone. I may be a pureblood Lord and a strong one at that but even I know that without instruction all muggleborn people fail. We can't ask them to be perfect and fit in if we are not willing to educate them on why we do things the way that we do. I knew your mother and she was a great student. She always helped people no matter what their blood status and even helped me from time to time. I have always admired for that. Now if I am to come up with this contract with you, you must submit to questioning under truth serum!" he instructed as Harry panicked internally but looked cool on the surface. He couldn't risk that he'd lived this life before to come out.
"I will take the veritas serum but first I want to read the questions!" he instructed which Harish said was fair. He took the veritas serum after he was satisfied with the questions.
What is your name?
Harry James Potter is my name.
Will you support Padma unconditionally in every choice she should wish to make?
Without question I would support her to the ends of the earth.
Would you ever force Padma to do anything she didn't want to do against her will?
I have no death wish so obviously I would not. Anyone who does so should rot in jail forever.
What do you want to do for a job once you're older?
I actually don't know yet but I want whatever I do to help people in some way so maybe a counsellor or a healer.
What is your biggest fear?
Dementors are my biggest fear because they suck all of the love and joy out of the room and eventually leave people an emotionless soulless husk of their former selves. No thank you.
Would you financially support Padma if she declares she wishes to be a house wife and mind the children instead of working?
I would do anything she asked of me but I don't doubt that she would be smart enough to have many jobs if she wished to do so.
With the questioning over Harish was satisfied and agreed at once to formally draw up the contract within Gringotts. There was a space left where Padma would eventually fill in which surname she would like to take once she knows that answer. Padma could do anything she wanted to at any time she wanted to and with whomever she liked. Cheating was forbidden under any circumstances for both of them but this did not include being under the influence of certain spells or potions which could happen based on who he was alone. They were not to have children until at least the age of twenty four so they could live a little first. Padma was inhibited in no way whatsoever except cheating of course. That night as Harry went home part of him felt very whole indeed. Her family was great opening their arms to him and accepting him where he was. They didn't ask him to change and would be inviting him over for dinners and parties they would hold in the future. Yes he'd be expected to dress traditionally but it was likely either Pooja or Padma herself would help him out there unless the formal event they attended was not an Indian one. What a great day it had been.
