Going Home For The Holidays
A/N: I was planning to post this in Christmas but me being busy with Senior High, I almost forgot about this fanfic so here it is, hahaha sorry that it's late
Percy
Nothing interesting had happened this past days, well except for the time a troll had entered the castle. Also, the fact that Hermoine, Weasley and Potter suddenly became the best of friends.
He remembered that both Hermione and the Weasley can't stand each other but now, like he had mentioned earlier, they are now the best of friends–well, except for the fact that both of them still argue like a married couple.
Percy swears that Potter looks like a third wheel in their trio.
Speaking of friends–
He looked up to see both Annabeth and Hermione discussing about a spell they had found in a random spell book.
He doesn't get it. He could clearly see that the blonde haired girl really enjoyed both his and Hermione's company. Yet, Annabeth is still in a conflict on what she thinks about their friendship.
The same thing can be said to him. Why is he still sticking with her when she doesn't considered him a friend.
Maybe, his just tired of being alone.
Letting out a sigh, Percy looked down and squinted his eyes. He was reading a book and it's really hard to read it! Dyslexia is such a menace! Oh how much he wants to curse it. Hhm, he should ask one of the professors to enchant the book to maybe read itself while he would just listen to it.
Anyway...
Annabeth must have noticed his struggle since she pulled out her wand and casted a spell on the book. Then, suddenly all English letters were translated to Greek.
Meanwhile, Hermione has her jaw dropped.
"Annabeth, what did you do with the book!?" She gasped and the blonde haired girl just smiled.
Chase in response to the brunette was to lift up her book in front of Granger's face. Then, she pointed on one of the pages of the library book that was once English, but were now Greek.
"Calm down, Hermione." She begun; then, pointed her wand at the book and the letters returned back to English. "Both me and Percy have dyslexia, reading English is hard for us, but we can easily understand Greek." She explained and added, "Also, I have asked permission from Madam Pince to do this, just as long I don't damaged her book." She reassured the brunette and once again with the flicker of her wand, the letters were once again Greek.
Hermione just nodded in understanding, "Oh, those letters are Greek." She said in awe; then, a smile appeared on her face. "Sorry about my surprise. I didn't know that both of you have dyslexia." She apologized and continued, "Since both the two of you were excellent students, I didn't notice that you guys have a reading problem."
Percy was about to comment when Annabeth snorted, "Percy just excellent in practical, not written." She teased and this made the Jackson complain.
"Hey!" He shouted and a small smirk appeared on the blonde haired girl's face. Then, Percy added, "It's hard to focus on reading when you have A.D.H.D!" He retorted and Annabeth just rolled her eyes.
"I have A.D.H.D too." She commented and he just crossed his arms.
"But, it's different because you're you!"
Just as Annabeth was about to reply. Hermione quickly chimed in, "Wow, you two have two disorders that can reall hinder your studies, but both of you adjusted and did great!" She awed, "That really is amazing."
This was the first time Percy have been complimented. Whenever, he was in his old schools. He would be teased, berated and mocked by his other fellow classmates.
So, hearing a praise from his fellow classmate. He couldn't help but blush and it looks like he wasn't the only one who seems bashful by the brunette's compliment.
Glancing at Annabeth, she still have her stone cold face, but if you look closer. One can see the softness in her gray stormy eyes.
"It really isn't..." said Annabeth, quite trailing off. It was clear that the girl was unsure. But, he could still see bursting pride in the girl's eyes.
Annabeth Chase is complicated. He doesn't understand her, like he couldn't understand her reason when they had talked on Halloween. This girl is really complicated. Why are girls can be so complicated...
Who was he kidding. Annabeth Chase is the most complicated girl he had met.
Before he could rant in his mind, he was cut off by Hermione's voice.
"I'm curious though." She started, as her eyes stared at the translated book. "How the two of you copy notes in class..."
Percy snorted at that, "I can't really copy notes in class. With my dyslexia, I might wrote everything wrong in my notebook." That was his response, while Annabeth in the background shook her head.
Then, a sigh escaped her lips. "Well, it is true that copying notes are hard. Especially those teachers who likes to write in cursive." Percy shivered at that, reading those kind of hand writing hurt his brain. "I can still take notes, but only a little amount. Though, I always go to the teachers and asked for notes from the lesson they had taught." She explained and Hermione quirked up an eyebrow.
"Where did you get the permission to do that?" She asked and Annabeth responded with this.
"My dad had wrote to the school about my two disorders." said Annabeth and Percy nodded at this.
"The same thing can be said to me." He stated and added, "My mom also wrote to this school about my dyslexia and A.D.H.D."
Hermione nodded in understanding after hearing this, "I see..." She was about to say more when she was cut off by a familiar voice.
"Hermione!"
Because of that, three heads turned towards the direction if the voice and they saw Weasley and Potter.
The redhead was the one yelling, "We have more things to do, come on!" He shouted and the brunette responded back.
"Okay, Ron!" She shouted; then, casted her eyes towards Percy and Annabeth.
"Until next time, guys." She said, as she begins to gathered her things. When, she was done. Hermione bid her goodbye to them before running off towards her friends.
When Percy and Annabeth were all alone, both of them continued their homework. But, when he was about to glance back to his book. He caught a glimpse of curiosity in the blonde's eyes before it disappeared.
"..Timeskip.."
It was a day before Christmas break and Percy finds himself boarding the train. They got back by boat and like his first time coming to Hogwarts, he is being accompanied by Annabeth who he teased that she just wanted to be with him. Though, she denied his teasing and answered him that the train would be full and sharing a compartment with him would be a wiser decision.
Anyway...
Percy remembered that Hermione wants to sit next to Annabeth, but since her fellow Gryffindor housemates had already whisked her away. Well, that plan failed and despite the poker face that the honey blonde haired girl wore, he could still see the little disappointment in her eyes.
Anyway...
The train finally arrived and both of them boarded the train. A lot of students begin to enter and it was so crowded that it was hard to move, but luckily, Annabeth had managed to quickly pass trough the crowd and found an empty compartment.
When Percy had finally made it towards where the blonde was. He already found her reading a book with her owl Saffi on her right. With a sigh, he sat on the seat across from her and decided to fell asleep throughout the ride.
Annabeth
Annabeth and her father had finally made it home. They travel via by using the floo network that connects Britain and America. Her father had said that traveling floo would make someone sick but because of how her body is strengthened by all the training done in camp. She could say that she didn't feel nauseous at all.
The few days back at home was okay. She bonded with her younger brothers even if it is just being the same room with them while she is just reading her book.
Her stepmother didn't look angry at her like before. There was a look of concern in her eyes before being replaced by a stern glare. At least, she wasn't talking behind Annabeth's back for once.
Meanwhile, there's her father. It made Annabeth really happy–even though she doesn't show it–that they were bonding. He had asked how school was and she told him everything.
And when she told him about Hermione and Percy. He just smiled at her, "Glad that you're making friends." is what he said and Annabeth couldn't help but flinch.
Percy understands that she is conflicted with their relationship, but Hermione–
Annabeth felt guilty since the brunette really thought of her as a friend, but she doesn't know how to reciprocate that. People around her always left her. Though, she's still bonding with her dad but she knows that there is still that distance between them.
Then, there's also Luke. A boy who was like an older brother to him. She hates the fact that everyone in camp assumes that she has a crush on her older brother figure because she always turned red whenever he is near.
Well, they don't understand and they never will...
...Timeskip...
Oh, how stupid of her. To think that everything will be okay. She should have known better when it comes to herself. She only brings trouble to everyone and most of the time, someone close to her almost dies or really dies.
Her family's home got attacked by monsters. She tried to defend everyone and in the end, the house was too damaged and everyone sustained an injury. That's when her stepmother shouted at her out of anger while her father stood there and watch.
It went for five minutes and Annabeth's heart broke when her father didn't do anything to defend her. He just sent her this sorry look before grabbing her stepmother and her half-brothers. Her father guided the three back to their home, leaving Annabeth outside alone.
She watched them walk away and this scene reminded her of her own trauma. 'Great job, Annabeth. Once again, everyone left you.' She bitterly thought before going back to the house.
Entering her home, if she calls this her home, she saw her stepmother and father arguing.
"I thought that you sending her away would make everything better!"
"Honey, please..."
"No Frederick, don't honey please me! Can't you bring her back to camp so that we can all be safe!"
"Dear..."
"It would save us all the trouble–"
Not wanting to hear anymore, Annabeth quickly walked up the stairs and towards her room. She begins to pack all her stucf and pulled out a drachma from her pocket.
"Well you know who to call..." She sadly sighed, making her way outside so she can summon a rainbow. When she had done the deed, she returned to her room. She let out a sigh once more, as she fell to the ground. She pulled her legs closer, as she hid her face.
Saffi tried to comfort her, saying different reassuring words. Annabeth was grateful at what her friend owl was doing, but there's nothing you can do in this messed up situation.
"..."
Chiron had received her call, she was gonna get pick up today and now she's outside waiting for her ride. All her family members were outside, both her brothers and her father were sad to see her go while her stepmother didn't meet her eyes. Her father looked guilty and Annabeth decided not to say anything.
When the van finally arrived, there were no goodbyes even as the vehicle drove off.
It's fine, is what she said to herself. Oh, she shouldn't have been to optimistic. It hurts, it really does. She should be used to it now, but...

Her and Argus had safely returned home. Yeah, Camp half-blood is her real home. The only place that she wouldn't be a burden. A place where she could do different activities and be free, even though it's not mostly true.
Days had passed once again. It was fun in camp, but she felt alone. Don't get her wrong, she loves her other siblings and the other people in the camp, but the loneliness is still there.
Reading a book in her cabin, she was called out by Luke who was outside her her cabin.
"Annabeth, Argus had fixed up the van. We're all ready to go to Olympus!" He informed her and with that, the blonde got out of her bed and fixed herself up.
Saffi who was on her table, flew towards her to sit on her shoulders. After everything was done, she went on her way. She's not the one to hope, but she wants this day to be not bad for her once. Also, she hopes to see her mother there.
With that said, she walked out of her cabin and went on with her day.
