Disclaimers:

Things on parenthesis '()' are explanations of something that was written or a word that will be used interchangeably with another, so you don't need to search on google what they mean.

Again, I had two other sections planned but would be too long to read in one sit so I instead separated 'em, this is still going to be a 10k chapter, and next ones won't be so short either, but it's better than having a massive 30k long chapter.

I hope ya'll enjoy these, and yup, these next chapters will be focused mostly on combat, because I need a vehicle for the story going forward.

Minato:

Anxiousness was the only thing he felt right now.

Not joy, not suspense, not pain, no, only anxiousness.

His wife was in extreme pain though, she was grabbing onto his hand with so much force that he had applied chakra to it so it didn't break under the pressure of the strongest woman in Konoha.

He tried his best to remain in composure yet his face showed obvious signs of preoccupation.

In his eyes was the most precious person there was to him laying on a bed, her face with obvious pain, sweat all over, and some damp hair across her.

And just when he wanted to say something to alleviate her, she screamed.

"It hurts ya' know!"

It made him cringe, for he could understand what pain was, but what she was feeling right now was something that couldn't be described by words, or at least not by him.

She was struggling, but because she was going to be a mother, and had to endure.

"I've never seen her in so much pain before." - He said, with a worried yet collected demeanor. - "Is she alright?" - A worried Minato asked like it was a reflex.

An angry face coming from the second-best medic on the north of the continent came.

"She is alright!"

"You just have to worry about the seal!" - Added the assisting Midwife, Taji.

Biwako Sarutobi's shout made him feel a bit nervous, his sweat already covering his face going down to his chin, so he followed the other person's command.

He gulped before leaving the hand of his wife who then grabbed the cushioned armrests of the table she was on, almost crushing them in the process.

Then he placed his hands on the belly of Kushina, though he didn't do much, for one motive that the people present didn't really know of.

The nine tails didn't want to escape.

It wasn't a friend, no. But it had reached a level of trust with Kushina so that it wasn't even pushing chakra out.

For it one time said to his wife "Of all the containers I could have, you are the least bad of them."

So he just checked if the seal was going to break because of Kushina pushing chakra into it to quell the pain, as that distinct red chakra wasn't acting up right now.

He then felt the crushing hand of his wife on his left wrist, she needed some comfort again, he felt hopeless at that moment, he wanted to do something but knew he couldn't.

"But she is-" - The man wanted to keep talking, still troubled by the situation his dear was in but was cut off again by a somewhat frustrated Biwako, who as a mother herself was bored of Minato acting just like his Husband had on each one of the births of their kids.

"Keep yourself together, you are the fourth Hokage, the village leader, act like one!"

That comment made him rectify his spine and close his eyes while looking downwards, as in shame, for the Sarutobi was right, he should remain composed at this moment, for Kushina, and his kid.

Noticing the tilt of emotion coming from the strongest soldier of Konoha, Biwako preferred to comment as to lighten up even if a little bit.

"If a man went through this amount of pain he'd be dead." - Her words seemingly had an effect, as the preoccupied brow of Minato was pushed downwards a bit, so she continued. - "But we women are strong!"

With that declaration he smiled, understanding that indeed, she and all mothers went through all of this to create small miracles, and he should try all to just endure his griefs, to try to stand as strong as she.

And of course, the three women in the room felt a small amount of pride after that, even the redhead showed a tiny grin before again whimpering.

At the same moment, he felt the seal moving.

His soul almost got out of his body, but he quickly pushed some of his chakra into it to repel any outside action, and it served, for the ink that was trying to reunite on the belly of the woman again became a swirl.

"Please, Kushina, you can do this, for Naruto." - He said in a slow and sorrow-filled voice, he wanted this to end soon, to have his little creature near, he didn't want this, all that he had worked for, to be over.

She in turn crushed his wrist with even more force, but he withstood it, the sweat on his face mixing up with a small tear that got out at the pressure of his dear Kushina's grip.

Again, a scream was heard, from the Uzumaki who felt how inside of her, something was moving, tearing her up.

Minato thought it was the Beast inside of her, but no.

"There it is!" - Taji shouted with happiness.

The fourth Hokage immediately snapped and looked to the two nurses.

Biwako had a smile that was pure joy emanating from her pride as a mother, and the feeling to be the one touching a new life.

Kushina's scream turned from grief over her situation to tears of pure rejoicing.

Then he understood.

He saw how the midwives made pressure on the cord and cut it.

Then he saw something that melted his heart.

A small creature that soon began crying.

It had small spots of wet blond hair, was covered in blood and amniotic fluids while his face was decorated by three marks on each cheek, as if to emulate the whiskers or vibrissae of an animal, likely a trademark from the Nine tails.

"He... Naruto, my kid!" - After saying this he closed his eyes, feeling how they got filled with water, his face feeling heavy as blood rushed while his sentiment began to surface, this time it was not worry, but sincere joy. - "I am finally a father!"

A feeling that he had dreamt of for as long as he could remember, fatherhood. Taking care of Kushina's siblings was one thing, and his now parents-in-law only could say so much and it all paled to what he was living.

He wanted to take him, hug his kid immediately and never let him go, for he finally was in the outside world, ready to grow, along with him and his mother.

But he knew there was a procedure, they first had to check him, get rid of the placenta, but by the looks of the Sarutobi Matriarch it was all good, her chakra-covered hands had run through the small body of the child.

"Taji, please get me the weight, let's find out how heavy is our little flash." - She said with a smile while she held the still crying Naruto, clearly mad that he was being held by neither of his parents, as the lack of that warmth indicated.

And her student did, she went to the left side of the room while Minato looked at her, in case she didn't find it under the cloths hiding so much equipment that they had used before, in both the birth and the obstetrics-related visits.

Kushina on the other hand, pushed herself to incline herself to have a look at her little son, she had waited months to see him, she was almost desperate to lay her eyes on his dear kid.

"GET AWAY!"- She instinctively screamed with pure agony at the sight of somethi- no, someone who almost lacked any humanoid characteristics outside of its shape.

A simple robed figure that now had his kids on its arms, with a paralyzed Biwako at its side.

It was pure dark 'skin', for it looked like an entire void, with a navy-blue cloak covering its body and there was no mask, no face, no eyes to be seen, just its also black arms that held the baby, the newborn Uzumaki which felt strangely at peace in the care of this person.

The scream though got the attention of not only Minato, who got paused, absent of any kind of rational thought as he tried to process what was happening, and Taji who got a tanto (small sword) out; but of eight ANBU operators too who made an appearance on the room once they heard the scream, channeling chakra and preparing their blades to attack to this intruder, surrounding it.

But whoever this was, was smart, for it moved its left arm to the kid and tickled his cheeks like it was playing with him, and no one moved a single muscle, a showing that it had the opportunity to kill the baby if provoked.

"Please! Let my Naruto go!" - Pleaded Kushina, now feeling desperate, moving herself trying to get a look on her baby which she still hadn't even got a view of.

Gone was the joy on that moment, and the sentiment got deeper as the figure then moved its left hand with its index finger moving side to side, a simple no.

The Sarutobi matriarch immediately tried to slash the body of the creature with a chakra scalpel, but the finger of the thing touched her forehead and again made her go numb.

At that moment, Biwako fell to the ground, unconscious.

"Sensei!" - Screamed Taji who moved forward to catch her but was stopped by the hand of Minato grabbing her by the neck.

She was going to protest before she saw the hand of the figure now pointing to the forehead of the newborn.

Kushina this time began tearing and jumped to the figure, trying despairingly to get her kid back.

To no avail, for the figure then moved its hand to touch her forehead, making Kushina fall to the ground, just some centimeters shy of an ANBU who tried to grab her, only for the figure to point at the kid with the same index finger.

A simple act that made the Fourth Hokage look with hatred at his subordinate who retracted his arm and again began channeling chakra to attack this newcomer.

Minato felt like he was going to explode, he knew he needed to act, he still felt chakra on Kushina, so she couldn't be dead, but this situation demanded movement, not only observing, yet he only clenched his fists.

What would he do? He would kill himself before letting his Naruto get hurt but...

So he instead demanded. - "What do you want!?"

No one expected a real answer, the ANBU instinctively began preparing sealing jutsu to contain the figure.

"The nine tails."

A simple tense, of a severe voice which carried force, like the Third on his war speeches, or worse, Tobirama's entire battleplan discussions if he remembered Hiruzen's ramblings correctly.

The message? It was outrageous too.

"I won't give it to you." - Answered Minato, who now began flaring a pair of seals on his hands, from where three-pointed kunai appeared. - "Please just leave my kid, and all of us." - A single second after that, he frowned, and began channeling chakra into his system. - "Otherwise, I won't appeal to words."

It was clear, he was angry, angrier than he had ever been before, just for his anger to be suppressed by the fact that the guy had his kid, but he waited a single moment so that it answered to him.

"So be it."

Immediately the man took Kushina by the throat and used her as a shield, for Minato had already rushed and was about to pierce the creature with a Kunai.

The yellow flash twisted his body to drop the Kunai and teleport to it, appearing on the back of the man who had already turned to face him, his kid in one arm and his wife on the other.

And just as the Namikaze saw how a trio of ANBU tried to grab it, the figure just jumped and threw a frontal kick that sent Minato directly to the wall, creating a small dent where his head struck.

A surprising amount of force, equally as surprising as the figure just melting into the ground along with both of his loved ones.

He wanted to scream, he propelled himself to catch the dark robes of the man, but... When his hand touched the cloak he couldn't grab it, for it had become a small puddle of gooey mass that smelled like raw meat and maple syrup.

One of the operators approached him, trying to console the Hokage.

She tried to say something but Minato looked her directly to the eyes, with pure desperation on them, his face turning pale and then flushed with blood now rushing with chakra unleashed by the clear opening of the first gate.

Minato wasn't going to restrict his strength, not now, there was no window for retreat, he had to fight to absolutely annihilate that man, or thing.

So the ANBU walked backward, lifting her hands as a means to distance herself even further from the infuriated Minato whose eyes now had a yellow hue surrounding them, and his pupils were horizontal.

He got up, grabbing the Kunai that had fallen to the ground after using it; and he disappeared.

For he had a seal on his wife.

So now he encountered himself in a place he didn't recognize as anything but a mere clear in the middle of the forests surrounding Konoha.

Next to him was Kushina, laying on the floor, her belly being touched by one hand of the thing, and Naruto still contempt on the arm of this filthy creature.

[How is he-] - He questioned himself as he knew this was some sort of way to make the nine tails go out, but he didn't quite understand it.

Nevertheless, he had to act, so he prepared a Rasengan and moved it to the face of the man and also flung his other arm to catch Naruto to get him out of the fight.

But instead of taking it, from the figure emerged one not equal to him, like a clone would, but using the exact opposite colors as the original.

The Rasengan demolished the figure though, a senjutsu enhanced attack converted it into absolute nothingness, as if it had evaporated into the chakra that composed it.

The dark one just kept standing still, making Minato even more perplexed, for not even in his wildest dreams had he imaged something like this.

He wanted to scream, liberate anger and try to hold his kid once again, and so he tried to punch the throat of the creature to thwart its standing in the upcoming skirmish he thought would come.

Instead, he saw a pair of pure red eyes looking at him from under the eternal darkness of the hood, with three dots decorating it.

[Sharingan.] - He thought without a single doubt, he had encountered enough of their users to not discern it from other Dojutsu.

Oh no.

He immediately threw five kunai at the outline of the man to stop his possible movements and another to its head to kill him, pinpoint accuracy and the point-blank range was enough to secure it and he saw how they impacted, he was quicker than this creature in combat speed it seemed, and he had used that to kill his foe.

With apparent pain, given by a grunt, the creature dropped his kid and his wife, and it fell to the ground.

Minato grabbed his little Naruto, cushioning him with chakra and immediately placing a small kiss on his forehead, he felt relieved, he had him, he had something and he would give his life to protect it, even if he lost her it, he would still be competent, for his child was alive, the warmth of his dear son gave him hope.

Soon he tried to touch Kushina, place a finger on her to check her outside of her pure chakra; she disappeared as if she had never existed.

The natural chakra then confirmed something, his boy wasn't in his arms.

And some ten meters away from him, was the man, still holding Naruto and having Kushina being siphoned out of chakra.

[What kind of genjutsu is that? Sage mode should aid even against those of the mangekyo!] - Internally screamed the man, feeling his body go numb as he seemingly failed his task, the happiness he felt by grabbing his kid for the first time; being fake.

Until a small detail, he noticed when he turned to face the attacker.

It had one white eye and another still red.

He knew about the legends, but after Madara, few knew these techniques, and Fugaku had told him, only those that awoke the next step of the Sharingan or got to be Senior Jonins even had a concept of how to cast them, let alone perform them, which he thought only a handful on the Uchiha and the other clans could.

"Izanagi." - Mumbled Minato, surprised, now knowing that this one at least had connections to the village or the clans that sprung from the Uchiha and Senju.

But who? Who was this attacker? It had visible sharingans, that dismissed most of the Fuma clan whose diluted versions rarely became full-fledged ones. The Hagoromo had one Byakugan and one Sharingan, so they were left out of doubt. Maybe some of the Kurama, a Chinoike, because otherwise, only some select of the Uchiha could do this.

He got tense again, recovering his spent blades to again strike at this man, but his theories did not stop as he moved to engage.

This man had to know about what was happening, of Kushina being a Jinchuriki, of the birth of his kid. Those who checked those marks and had a pair of Sharingan were only two ANBU, which were present as his bodyguards, and Obito, who would never do a thing like this.

So there was no option in the village, save for someone who could get this information.

Kumogakure shinobi, who liked to steal sharingans from Uchihas during the war, maybe, but that wouldn't answer how they knew about the Izanagi.

People from the Demon continent? Maybe, but legend had those eyes imbued onto the Uzumaki, and there wasn't any known migration thereafter, which would again, come with the problem of the technique just used.

And the only person that also had this... Power, that he felt thanks to the sage mode, were Kage.

Few Sharingan users could rightfully say they carried as much chakra, and the only one so contrary to the village to do so was:

"Are you Madara Uchiha?"

Was the question of Minato, who saw how the figure now flared with a pure white crescent moon in the middle of its face as if it were a smile.

"Yes, but not quite."

Eerie.

Yet, Minato did not push further, for he knew what the creature was doing, he had to stop him first.

Thus he rushed again, propelling himself with a stride from his left leg and moving his right arm forward, armed with a wind-enhanced Kunai, ready to slash.

This time the white version appeared, but instead of absorbing the attack, it wiggled itself, deforming, turning into goo that went under Minato's arm, like a projectile aiming to tackle his legs.

And so it got stuck to him, and almost made Minato trip, if not for him using the Hiraishin seal he had on his wife again, turning his hips to send a kick to the face of the supposed Madara.

But again, they disappeared, reemerging meters away, the figure this time with two white eyes instead of one.

It had spent its eyes to do this.

The Yellow flash landed and immediately charged up again, noticing how the white creature rushed to him too.

A mere speedbump.

But it made a single hand sign and a tree trunk appeared out of nowhere, slamming Minato's belly, making him gasp for air.

[Wood release, strong enough to attack me in Sage mode.] - He evaluated before putting a seal on the newly formed tree and again disappearing to face the main foe. - [If this isn't Madara I will have to question Orochimaru later]

But in front of him were two white versions this time, and they each got a dark crescent moon on their faces before being united by the third who arrived soon.

He had to deal with these first and might god help him so that he does it quickly enough, Kushina was strong, but she could die, although the slow and methodical method the attacker was showing might reduce the chances of her chakra-network failing.

Nevertheless, it was time to act.

One tried to slam a Bo (Staff) into his eyes but failed, as Minato grabbed it and used it to slam another one's throat with it before placing a hiraishin seal into it and sending it with a chakra-enhanced throw into the chest of the middle one.

Impressively enough they regenerated instantly, the left one melting to try and grab Minato's left side, while the other two rushed handsigns.

He teleported into just centimeters of the middle one's face and headbutted him, his senjutsu-infused body managing to melt the head into nothingness, effectively killing the creature.

His companion then threw a fireball at point-blank, which Minato responded with teleporting to Kushina again, just to be pushed away by the melted one which got a hold of his arm and injected some kind of energy which by the feels it gave would affect him on horrible ways if he wasn't on Sage mode.

After that, the right one again came, with the Bo of his companion, and swing it to the fourth's right shoulder.

[Such force.] - True, he wanted to scream, for that hit felt like one of the Raikage's slams.

In pain, he closed his eyes for a moment, letting his guard down for another hit, this time to his temples, which made him trip down.

But he still could sense things, thanks to the Nature chakra.

And so he felt the seal he had imprinted and fell right on top of the figure with the staff he had marked before.

After he jumped back and noticed how the melted one wasn't with him anymore and had reformed into its humanoid form again, weird, uncanny, but this whole situation could only be a wild dream.

"Just a little longer, Hokage sir, then we will have our fight."

The words from 'Madara' provoked not ire, but the pure rage inside the soul of the man who nevertheless limited himself to frown, feeling like he couldn't stop things but he would try anyway.

For that matter he grabbed the head of the construct on the ground and before it melted and tried to numb his arm; he threw it directly at the dark one, who looked with two new sharingans, yet instead of using Izanagi to stop the attack; absorbed his white version like it was a Haze clone of Orochimaru.

[Impossible, that's something only the greatest medics can do only.] - The mere thought of a regenerating Sharingan was astounding, something he should try and give to the Uchiha, for thus they would drive Konoha's power to the sky.

It was a shame that the ability was of a being he would kill the second it was away from his wife and kid.

And the other jumped to keep on the attack; this time forming a sort of claw on its arms which it used to intercept a retaliatory fist from the Kage and send its own to the rock-like skin of his forehead, it still hurt, but he didn't even flinch at this.

Instead, he ducked, letting a second attack fail and giving him the room to spawn a shadow clone by using the 'Horn' one-handed sign; which kicked the back of the creature, leaving a hiraishin mark on its lower back.

But it quickly turned, using Minato's arm as a way to bash him against his clone, dispelling it, the smoke creating a small window in which he again Hiraishined to his wife, only to be met by them disappearing and the white figure being absorbed by the dark one.

"I am almost done."

Perfect.

Minato smiled, earning the figure a sort of scare, for it looked directly to his eyes, without pushing chakra.

And so Minato threw a Hiraishin Kunai as far as he could, and then teleported to the man, directly grabbing his left arm, and then, poof, transporting to the Kunai, dropping the hold of it before again going to his wife, where he caught just in time little Naruto, who fell to his arms, crying instantly as he did not feel the warm arm of his unknown kidnapper.

Or at least, he didn't after he felt it falling to the ground, creating a dust cloud visible from where he stood, he would immediately go after him, but not before placing her wife and son in a safe place.

Then, the heart of the Hokage this time was running with happiness, for he had recovered his kid, and Kushina's seal was still there, with a small yet noticeable amount of the Kyuubi in her, a speck, but good enough so that she survived.

All going so well.

He immediately kissed his still blood-covered kid, his sweet forehead receiving some relaxing caress from his father was enough to calm the kid who tried to open his eyes before feeling cold and crying again.

"Calm down son, daddy is here, do not fear." - He tried to say in the most emotive way he could considering the wave of emotions he had inside of him.

Just as he saw how his mother began opening her eyes.

"Give me my kid!" - She screamed, grabbing Naruto from Minato in a violent way, hugging his child with tears in her eyes, her legs moving erratically to get away from the man in front of her, apparently not knowing she was safe.

She tried to get up while she whispered things to her little boy, moving her view from there to there, her sleep perception still not getting used to her new position.

Until her eyes met the blue ones of her husband.

Then, the relative darkness of the forest, this clear where she was, the obvious remains of a fight.

She smiled, understanding what happened.

"Dear..."- A small voice came from her, weak sounding, as her tears were now accompanied by a faint smile.

Minato's rage disappeared, he did not care for the attacker, he didn't feel him anymore, so he deactivated sage mode and immediately opened his arms to surround his family with them, he got up and gave one of the most sincere shows of affection he ever had given.

The heat from both parents made the newborn smile, and the hair of his mother covered his head from cold, so he closed his eyes, and then his instincts guided him to search for the warmth of both.

"My Naruto... Is here." - Kushina said still not believing it all.

"And I will make sure we all stay here." - Her husband confirmed, kissing her nose bridge, where sweat had trapped some hair that covered her face.

She in turn squinted her eyes, dropping a few more tears before nodding and finally giving out a smile.

They remained there for some seconds, just silent, enjoying the moment.

Minato even transported them to one of his safehouses, some ten kilometers away from the Uzumaki main compound outside of the Village.

There he felt secure, and his family too, for Kushina sat on a chair and began breastfeeding her little kid immediately, her face still fixated on the pure joy of everything being alright, there not being a menace, or at least not an immediate one.

Even if the lingering fear of if that guy was really neutralized the yellow flash wanted to have at least some moments with them both, before having to do something else, for the chakra of the nine tails would regenerate eventually, and if it reforms on the wilderness; he'd have to seal it on the upcoming years.

And so they rested.

They took photos.

And they hugged.

Until they felt a tremor.

Kushina immediately hugged Naruto with even more force and began to sob.

The wave of killer intent flooded the small house and made the kid cry.

Minato felt devastated but wasted no time to get on his Hokage clothes now, taking a peek on one of the windows; noticing the big reddish creature far away.

It had not died, and it was faster than it seemed, Madara was alive and well, and had liberated the Kyubi.

His eyes shrunk, and he felt his teeth almost exploding as he felt again that pain of your most loved ones being under attack. He had fucked up. He was supposed to be collected, the perfect shinobi, but here he was, he had taken too much time with them in an effort to not crush their souls, and to get to touch the happiness of being a parent if only for a moment.

Madara was going to die tonight.

"Go, dear." - Said Kushina to comfort her husband.

He immediately turned to face her, resolution clear on the looks that he gave her as he took the mantle of the Hokage from one of his seals and prepared to jump to one of his seals on the village, all to be interrupted by a sharp pain on the back.

Oh no.

"Of course, he will go." - Then, almost as if this voice felt how Minato was about to react, it left out a small giggle before being impaled by a dozen spears, all with suppression seals on the tips which pierced the limbs and the middle body of the creature that once Minato turned, was in the middle of the safehouse, immobile; trapped by one of the security measures Minato had installed.

Kushina looked terrified, only for a second that is, for she got visibly angry, her mouth showing her gritted teeth as a pair of chains perforated the shoulders of the creature, enveloping it and with impressive force; detaching them, liberating a sort of white fluid that embedded the floor as the arms turned into it too.

She was about to smirk, but her peripheral view noted Minato's eyes again turning to that orange hue, meaning this foe was far from defeated.

And sure enough, it began laughing.

Still immobile, its crescent-moon-mouth still there along with the sharingans, but not emitting any visible sound even as it was heard by even naruto, who squinted his eyes at this.

A Rasengan was formed on the left hand of the Hokage, who then saw how the sharingans turned into something else, Mangekyo of some sort, for it had a pattern similar to that of Old miss Naori but with inverted colors; or that's how he could describe them.

"Do not, you will endanger your son."

For as much as Minato now stopped smiling and felt the need to unleash all of his chakra to kill this man, he nodded, understanding as he reintegrated the chakra to himself, he was right, the Rasengan clashing might cause splinter to damage Kushina and Naruto, not that she couldn't defend herself, but she couldn't use rotating palms like the Uchiha to stop them all.

"Now, please." - After saying that, the seals on the spears exploded and he turned into a puddle of the white substance on the ground before again becoming the dark creature it had been before. - "That hurt a lot, and I don't want to kill you, Lady Kushina, so refrain yourself from intervening."

The revelation came as a shock, but before Minato or her could ask, the Madara's crescent moon disappeared and it moved its index finger, making the already tense Hokage get even stiffer, and Kushina to hug Naruto with more force, surrounding him with chakra chains.

"Damage has been done, and I can destroy the village as it is, but I want one thing," - After, it pointed to the Yellow flash. - "Fight me, if you win I will let your kid and wife live, if you don't, I'll make him mine."

"What's the catch?" - Asked an intrigued Kage.

The moon again appeared on its face. - "You'll die regardless, so your last effort on earth must be worthy for me to respect it."

"Say I go to deal with the Nine tai-"

"No."

Silence kept going on for some seconds, low-pitched screams and the roars from the beast far away from them the only thing being heard aside from the breathing of the people present.

"The village will deal with it, I want to fight the man whose strength rivals those of the old Matriarchs of times of legend or if you truly have surpassed Hashirama, who claimed that title, as your Third does too. I need to know if there's another human with the power of the Celestial beings that reign us. Aside, I have fai- no, certainty that they will do something, focus on your chore here."

A simple answer, carrying the same serious yet somewhat calm and jovial tone of this Madara.

Minato knew he could get a better result, but this was really someone who at the very least was as strong as him, and it easily had as much chakra as some of the tailed beasts.

So he accepted, he knew he would secure the future, the Village and his family were in the same place for him and he agreed, Hiruzen wasn't senile yet, and the forces were under the charge of Fugaku...

"Where do we fight."

"Outside, I want no witnesses, especially if ANBU are coming to see you."

They both nodded, and the figure walked to the exit, and like it was a ghost, passing through the wall.

Not feeling the seal he had imprinted on it Minato had to use Shunshin to arrive next to the masked figure.

They were suddenly in between the woods on terrain not under the sovereignty of Konoha.

And then it became plain, a shockwave destroyed all the forest in some hundred meters, the safehouse nowhere to be seen, though he could feel this Madara and him were probably a kilometer from there, something that should be impossible.

"So many secrets you'll never know, like the Creation of all things."

Silence, Minato focused on the back of this creature.

"Imagination to reality. Only cost? Chakra."

Again, he kept listening, planning on how to take on this guy, who probably had most of the abilities of the Uchiha if it was truly him.

"The Kurama clan can't use even half of the opportunities it gives them."

"You seem to know a lot about Konoha, you Madara, why have you decided to attack now?" - Quickly asked Minato, to satisfy his curiosity, and tell the third, as he prepared a simple paper with a small tale of what was happening, not wasting too much chakra to write it, as to not make this creature suspicious.

It now faced Minato, the power of this Sharingan pouring deep onto this Sage of the Frog's view.

"I lied."

[Lied, about what?] - Thought the fourth immediately, arching an eyebrow while he clenched his fists again, feeling his three-pointed kunai ready.

"I am not Madara, I am the will of the Rabbit Goddess."

"Kaguya of the Uzumaki legend?" - Minato asked, thinking on the figure that supposedly reigned the earth before being defeated by the Sage of the Six Paths and his brother and going to the moon, a story from which the Hyuuga, Senju, Uchiha, and their offshoot clans descended according to the redhead's storybooks.

A simple affirmative nod is what he got in answer.

Then, suddenly the voice changed, deeper, without emotion save for what could only be described as glory as it pointed to the moon.

"My mother shall oversee all of you from her throne, and I, her adalid, will make sure she arrives there, and you are ready to be pushed into her demands; or be put in her service, as my..." - As he said, from his body again emerged those white copies of itself, this time some forty, all sporting the same clothing, but before he could verify their chakra signatures, they all merged to either the ground or the main one again. - "Fellow Zetsu has been put through."

[Intangibility, knowledge of folklore, story, clans, secret jutsu, insane speed, and abilities, this is obviously Madara, there can't be someone like this if it isn't he.] - The mind of the Fourth repeated. - "So, what is your name, Zetsu? You were never Madara?"

"Precisely." - While it talked, a sudden spike of chakra felt from the back of this... Zetsu. - "I just wanted to spook you with that name, I am not male, not female, just a will with a name."

"And please tell me, what will happen with those who merged with the ground?" - Inquired Minato, not feeling the chakra signature of those high-level clones.

"Do not worry, they won't interfere in the battle, nor the current rampage of Konoha."

Good enough for this moment, he would later be wary and would probably ask the Yamanaka to help and track the whereabouts of those things.

In a single second then it came, a show of force, for this Zetsu, was in front of Minato extending its arms as if it wanted to grab his shoulders.

He quickly blinked and moved his left arm in a slicing move upwards before jumping, the natural energy of Minato severing one of the limbs of the fake Madara who failed to grab the fourth Hokage.

He then landed on the ground and looked how after a groan another arm replaced the one that had been cut by him.

[He doesn't have durability, nor could he see the use of frog kata.] - Minato mentally noted before preparing a small plan of attack.

This time, he rushed, sending a trio of Hiraishin Kunai to his opponent while he ran, one pointed to the middle of its body and the other two to the sides.

Again, the crescent moon appeared a smile.

"Do not take me for a fool." - It said before from the ground a root grabbed Minato's left foot, making him trip and lose a bit of concentration which let Zetsu counter the Kunai with a wood wall to where the Fourth transported. - "I have seen your fights."

After that, he was sent far away by a massive fireball sent by his enemy.

[He can do jutsu without handseals! That is a level of mastery of chakra surpassing almost everyone.] - As he fell to the ground, the pain being an afterthought by the sage mode's resistance. - [Lord Third, Me, Orochimaru, Tsunade, Miss Omoshiroi... But... Wood release, this Zetsu either is related to the Senju or... No, it doesn't matter, he has abilities Orochimaru would dream of, I only need to focus on killing him or stop him and then seal the nine tails.]

After that, he summoned a scroll filled with Hiraishin Kunai, gifts from Lord Danzo Shimura, and threw it into the air before shunshining towards Zetsu, who was running towards him now.

Once in front of him, he touched its right shoulder, grabbing him, sending a pulse of chakra to push him downwards as he sent a hook to its gut with his other hand. The quick movement proved violent enough to blow off the torso of the creature that immediately fell to the ground, leaving a foul smell.

Now was the moment.

Snake, Dragon, Tiger, Rabbit. - [Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu!]

A stream of fire quickly came from the mouth of Minato, the fire chakra mixing with the air and provoking a cleansing flame that burnt the goo that his enemy had become.

Soon infernal screams came from the puddle which summoned a gigantic stone wall, almost forming a hill, to protect its creator.

[He isn't impervious to damage then, pain means damage.]

And sure enough, it soon came from the other side, bearing a pair of staffs made out of a pure-black material that the sage mode told it was pure chakra.

Now its cloak had been apparently burnt, and the height of the creature had been severed by a noticeable margin, he had done some damage.

And just as he was about to be attacked, he let out a small smile before jumping, for five Kunai fell over his enemy and many others around them for those that he had thrown before now completed the third step of his plan.

After, a Rasengan was formed on his left hand, and he jumped to again attack his enemy, knowing he could end this right now, this Zetsu might have some strange and good powers, but he didn't seem like a real frontline fighter, like a person who has only watched fights and exercised instead of practice fighting.

But as the spinning ball of chakra was about to hit, he was surprised by him absorbing it, simple as that, the chakra disappeared and integrated into it.

Nevertheless, the palm of Minato got to hit the neck of his enemy, further pushing one of the knives, making his enemy gasp before making something punch Minato several meters away.

In the flight after the attack, he closed his eyes, processing things for a moment, he had quickly overrun the defenses of his enemy, it was clear that the initial engagement he could have defeated him easily, and weirdly enough, it seemed like he couldn't cast Izanagi, maybe because his attacks weren't necessarily lethal, but he jumped to again fight to find answers directly, only to notice the blue nightmare that had punched him. A skeletal arm.

The Lightning Mirage Platoon had its fair share of Sharingan users, four of who unlocked Susanoo's, one of which still lived, Inabi Uchiha; so he knew how strong they were.

"Sir Minato, you truly are strong! This is my first fight in two centuries, I am still without refinement, but even then I can admire that you indeed have the sense of fight and speed on the leagues of the legends I've seen."

Flattering, but suddenly the crescent moon turned into a normal mouth, showing normal human teeth, strange for someone who claimed to be so old, and it showed discomfort as he got the Hiraishin kunai out of its body.

"But I thought I had more of a chance, now I will have to kill you, you know too much, and are far too dangerous."

He was going to say something similar, Minato felt the biggest drawback of his version of Sage Mode, he was incapable of raising chakra enough to do more than some minutes, similar to Lord Third's lack of Ying chakra to balance, so he had to fight quickly.

"Allow me to present you the power of the eyes of the descendants of Hagoromo, and the power it conveys."

Sure enough, a flash of dry dust came as from the ragged body of his enemy came a ribcage of pure chakra to surround him, then a spine which gave home to a head which promptly was covered in some sort of ornamental armor as the rest was filled with sort of fibers that covered the chakra-bones, then, armor, and finally, the arms were created, all then covered by a dark-blue coat, similar to the drawings of lady Naori about the Armored Susanoo.

It was massive, easily the size of a two-story house, or your average Jonin's 'tank' animal summon, yet it carried so much more energy.

"And it isn't its final fo-"

The fourth didn't let him finish bluffing, Minato had transported to one of the near Kunai and slammed it onto the side, natural energy penetrating and successfully sending it against its user's abdomen.

Then, he felt how his skin tingled, and in his mind, the image of a fist above him appeared, he sensed he was about to be crushed, and thus he jumped to another Kunai, some twenty meters away.

Dirt was thrown everywhere, and it stuck to the hair and face of the Hokage, for Zetsu had slammed the ground with so much force that Minato would have been utterly demolished by the strike, sage mode or not.

Afterward, he thought of how to defeat it, he had to pierce it, wind jutsu were the obvious solution, but he could absorb chakra... But it probably wouldn't work if it was covered by the Susanoo, which was made up of chakra.

But what if he could go to perfect Susanoo? All the abilities it had shown told that he just might, so it was better to be sure, use a safe strategy to continuously attack him to force his chakra to run out.

[Wind Style: Air Bullet] - Five of them went to attack the armored beast, who just tanked it, showing cracks, but not ceding to the attack.

"Underwhelming." - Sentenced the grave voice of Zetsu.

Maybe it was, but the attack confirmed his suspicions, so he took a deep breath before again teleporting to one of his Kunai to attack knowing one of the weaknesses of his rival, he appeared in front of his enemy who immediately drew a chakra Katana to swing it to the Hokage who jumped jus enough to land on it, using his own energy to grip onto it and end up on the left side of the chakra-avatar.

There he jumped and directed his right index finger to the front, charged of lightning chakra, so that when Zetsu counterattacked with a punch from his mighty Susanoo's other arm...

Sizzling was heard.

[Thanks Ay for lending me this.]

Concentrated chakra punctured the knuckle of the blue fist's middle finger, and when Minato expanded his hand inside of the hole it had made on the armor, it cracked the rest and soon it just exploded, eliminating not only the arm of the Susanoo but of Zetsu, who immediately screamed before pushing chakra out, a surge that made the fourth Hokage retreat again.

[And that thing still doesn't use Izanagi, it is like it is testing his abilities rather than using it to their fullest.]

What a contradiction that a roar came just as he finished saying that, power making him tremble this time.

His senses got clouded as he felt again a surge, this time, of something that made him feel even smaller.

Yes, the chakra in that thing was enormous, easily as strong, or stronger, than the nine tails.

It got up quickly, and start down at him before swinging its Katana, with an aura of fire to cleanse of what the blade couldn't touch.

Minato was now seeing the Perfect Susanoo, wings that ended like blade-carrying arms on its back, and an even more ornate armor, more so than the venerable Ninshu Samurai of the Iron Country, decorated even further by a Tengu-looking face.

But enough of admiring it, he had to jump to evade the sword again.

Until he felt the fire burning his sandals and feet, lightning his Hokage robes in fire, even as he was above the sword.

Then a hand slammed him against the ground, the screeching shock of the sound-barrier breaking lifting some of the dirt of their combat area and propelling the kunai embedded onto the ground to other places, far away from where the fight was going on.

Minato felt how his ribs broke, be it a lucky punch, or that he was finally outmatched; it still was a hit that crippled the yellow flash, for his flesh ached with the stone-like bones now prodding muscles and hurting the lungs of the Kage.

Then, his back touched rockhead (bedrock), his spine almost snapped, yet he clearly knew how one of his legs dislodged as a hard spike was pushed through his left thigh.

Sage mode did bring durability, and Ay proved that he could on a regular basis hurt Minato with deep wounds, but this was another level.

For the first time in years, he finally felt that he was the one that would die, that was in danger.

But he did not care, for he was fighting so that others survived, if he died, he would do so after giving up his best, for that was one of the principles of the Will of Fire.

So while he felt pain for the hand that still pushed him through the ground, he managed to 'feel' one of his Kunai and teleport to it.

He tried to stand up instantly, but...

{Gak} - A simple groan left his mouth before his eyes squinted and he opened his mouth to let out a scream.

His left was utterly destroyed, the bone visible, the muscles cut, only some small ligaments uniting both parts.

And from the energy inside him, he could sense how fragments of bone pierced his bronchia.

There was no medic to help him right now.

He could use chakra to replace some, but it would be ineffective, too concentration-intensive.

But he could offset that with Sage Mode.

And he needed to react quickly, for when he looked up, he was one of the arms of the Susanoo already moving to smash him again.

A quick push of chakra to circumvent the need for handseals and the Transformation Jutsu (Henge) was able to repair the damage on his body for as long as he maintained that focus on the replacement body parts, but even then he couldn't stop feeling pain, for most of his muscles had been damaged on that simple attack.

So he dashed to another Kunai to evade the fist of the Susanoo, and he saw how he was facing the back of it.

But one of the wing-arms that it had swung a sword at him, the heat quickly scorching the area and making Minato try to get another kunai to transport to, as he saw how the previous one was being annihilated by a fist of the Susanoo, in an eruption of earth that almost seemed like the explosions of a salvo of battleships.

Yet he couldn't concentrate well, most had been dispersed and thus he had forgotten, and having to deal with the henge meant that his range was severely hampered.

So instead he tried to evade.

Jump, then grab to the blade, expulsing lightning to take a hold on it even as the heat tried to expulse him.

After, he ran its length.

"I won't fall for the same trick two times." - Zetsu sentenced as another arm moved to catch him.

He felt it, so to counter he made a shadow clone, which jumped upwards while his summoner was hit by the crushing palm of their enemy.

It kept going forwards, Zetsu not feeling threatened by this single objective, not even as it managed to get on the neck of his Susanoo.

All because the real Minato was being toyed with, slammed against the ground, superficially this time, creating a swirl pattern with the Sage of the Toad.

Zetsu thought that it was because that puny thing couldn't do anything considering the petty amount of chakra it had.

And he was right, for when he saw the Formula on its cloak, the real Minato jumped, with a Rasengan.

From a single point, it punctured the armor, the moving chakra drilling, and when it finally made a single, atom-sized gap; the energy poured like an explosion and managed to push Zetsu away from his Susanoo, disintegrating the avatar.

The Hokage landed gracefully along with his clone, and deactivated his sage mode, for he couldn't maintain it any longer.

Was it enough? Probably, a senjutsu-enhanced Rasengan should be normally able to cripple Ay, one of the ten people he considered the world's strongest.

Then he was hit from above, by a single heavy fist.

"Earth Spear."

Zetsu was fast.

And he was strong.

Minato landed on the ground and saw a kick going against his skull so he propelled himself backward and was shocked by a fireball impacting his torso, followed by a tree root coming from the ground like a spike and impaling the belly of the Kage.

And now he wasn't covered in Natural energy, his intestines were totally pierced, and his spine almost snapped in half were it not for the pair of centimeters that separated the wood from the vertebrae.

Next, boom, a punch impacted his throat, leaving him breathless.

That snapped the concentration out of him so that when he touched the ground again his leg cracked.

Then he fell, and suddenly felt his leg go numb, he tried to move it, but when he looked down, it was only half of his thigh on his control.

He opened his mouth to scream, he finally felt an impressive amount of panic and was outright a nervous wreck, all furthered for his body ached with his injuries amounted during the battle now taking a heavy toll.

Though, there was no rest.

His rival straddled above him, a mischievous smile in its void face, the Sharingan still flaring as dots on the darkness of its shroud.

A gasp came from him as Zetsu headbutted him and then struck his throat.

When another punch was coming from him he reacted, he barely avoided it by moving his head forwards and then pushing to roll away from Zetsu.

His lack of one leg impeded him to get up, but he could still resist.

"You run?" - Asked the cloaked figure. - "Where is your energy?"

Minato kept silent, and got his last Hiraishin Kunai out, preparing to slash Zetsu or nullify his attacks with some of the seals he carried.

"I see." - After, it walked near the Kage, but it didn't attack, it even turned off the light of its sharingans and its mouth. - "You are strong, you managed to show strength on the league of the middle echelons of the Celestial beings, where some of your so-called deities stand, or where my mother stood at her peak."

Tones that he didn't understand, references that Minato kept on the back of his head, but the thought of having to defend himself carried over them, passing over these new facts.

"But, you lack the stamina to act," - After that it crouched in front of the Kage, who just kept there, planning, knowing that he couldn't reliably do damage now, not in this state. - "you are meant to do lightning strikes, now I understand why you focused on speed. You are weak, your flesh is weak, you don't have muscles, you rely on chakra and swiftness, emulating the power of those who have inherited the strength of the stars while you do not possess the ability to maintain that facade."

Insults, he was mocking him with relative terms that he didn't care for, as they were too big for him to understand and to believe, but he did note that Zetsu wasn't lying, not fully, he lacked Yang chakra, and his body complexion was always feeble.

"No response?" - The deep voice of Zetsu asked, this time with a notorious sarcastic tone. - "Not even questions about me?"

A window to distract him.

"Ejem..." - The pained tone of Minato expelled as he sat on the ground, his pain aching, on the background the sounds from fighting on the village, where he noticed another tall figure dealing with the Kyubi, demonstrating that he was right about them being able to deal with it; something that furthered his resolve to try to end this. - "I do."

The left hand of Zetsu showed its palm as a gentle way of saying "Speak."

And so the Kage frowned and asked. - "Why have you told me everything, showed me that you have dojutsu you shouldn't and knowledge only some should have?" - Afterward he breathed heavily, feeling numb, the chakra he was containing inside to both quell his injuries and prepare his last stand making him tire even more.

A moment of relative silence came.

Slow winds coming from the village moved the hair and cloak of the people there.

Then the mouth of Zetsu formed another smile.

"I thought I had answered already," - After, he pointed to the cut leg of Minato. - "you won't survive. The life of your wife, son and village is what is at play."

A small giggle came from a quick idea that came into his mind. - "Is your sharingan's ability to see the future?"

Stragenly, Zetsu laughed too, showing a somewhat human mouth, its eyes even opened, showing this time yellow iris without pupils, kinda like how the byakugan looked at a distance, but in that weird color reminiscent of some Dojutsu of the south of the continent.

"Heh... If you weren't a roadblock now, I would have liked to speak with you, for in ten years you would have achieved strength surpassing all save for one of the beings that have touched this earth."

Praise? Was it genuine? Was it all genuine? Looking back at it... It didn't seem like a fluke to distract him.

He felt weirdly comforted by these words, taking a sip of pride to relieve him on this pressurizing moment.

"And who is the strongest?"

"My mother's previous master."

Shocking, if its story was true, Kaguya had someone above her, that alone planted so many questions.

"Do you realize I don't believe you?" - Said Minato, confronting Zetsu on that theme.

The hand of the figure now turned to point its index to his mouth.

"But I am sorry, it doesn't matter, you know I've shown superior to you, you had the opportunity to defeat me, but you lacked information, and more momentum." - After saying that, Zetsu finally got a sort of pike out of his sleeve. - "That alone should prove I am a force above you."

"Yet you praised me."

"There's a difference between knowing the facts and being discourteous, you are worthy of praise, but here I am, alive."

"Hm..."

Minato closed his eyes then. Zetsu tilted its head to the left asking what was happening.

"I am sorry." - Simple words to then reveal a hundred clones, all boasting surprising power levels, equal to that of the white copies that his rival had thrown before.

The last effort of Minato.

And sure enough, they began battling quickly, the spiked Zetsu rampaging through the copies that slammed rasengan after rasengan, kunai after kunai, lightning after lightning, and slash after slash, ripping apart its body while the original focused on one thing, gathering.

"Stupid ninja, and their dirty way of fighting!" - Shouted Zetsu while he began ramping up his defensive game, his lackluster ability in martial arts or taijutsu showing as the beating the clones gave him made its wood release and blades' attacks pale when comparing the damage it was doing.

He had little inside of him, the Fourth Hokage had almost no chakra, but he had to make it.

He had remembered how Jiraiya could have easily killed Orochimaru if not for him weakening his own attack, a single senjutsu punch to push all the natural energy away, preventing negative effects while also damming your capacity to act later.

His only way to act now was that he couldn't even summon the Gamabunta to help due to the amount of chakra he had used, and how quickly things had developed, more strenuous than the battles with Ay and Bee.

So when he saw the blue arm of the susanoo pushing away his clones in an effort to clear the way to the original, he knew what he had to do.

Konoha was safe, his kid was with Kushina, fuck everything, this was his job, no matter the cost he was going to deal with it.

In his body, all connections pushed chakra both of his last reserves as he opened whatever gates he could to gather the last scraps of energy left inside of him, and what he gathered in the seconds his clones had given him for this, and his eyes turned again to emulate the frogs, Sage mode showing itself on the body of the Kage.

Down to the last cell of him was determined to act, his soul prepared for the impact for his rival had the pikae pointing directly to his heart.

Then he lost himself to the flow of the action.

His eyes now open, looking directly at the face of the now sharingan-using Zetsu, who now had a look of utter fear.

Sensing, he felt how he could almost touch everything, not like sage mode usually did, but rather he could pinpoint what happened hundreds of kilometers away, as he could feel the same presence he had felt when he visited Uzushio with Lord Jiraiya, or the soldiers of Kumo he had signed peace with, memories that flourished and helped to explain why was Zetsu so fearful.

All that he couldn't sense before he now could.

And on his fist, there wasn't the force of the blow to save his village from this man stronger than himself.

Rather there was a rod, black like the cloak of Zetsu.

And it pierced, destroyed, absorbed, and pushed.

But he didn't bode, he knew he had to keep on attacking.

He pushed himself, feeling how he again had a left leg again. this encouraged him to go further. yet instead of chakra, for he did not feel any inside of him, a pair of black orbs impacted the arms of the figure that was already flying directly to nothingness, its body dissolving as it couldn't contain itself, and the energy that composed it dematerialized for it had been overwhelmed by a power that pushed limits.

"Six paths." - He heard from Zetsu before it disappeared into an explosion far away. And on its mind were theories, about how, if Minato had connections to what, but the answer never came to him, as he felt the worst pain he had ever felt, and so he remained almost lifeless, if for some seconds at least.

Minato was going to question what it meant, maybe it was a connection to what his power really was.

Yet before he could answer that properly, he fell to the ground again, puking blood once he touched the dirt.

Just as that power came, it went away.

Was he going to die now?

All the things going now on his overextended, shredded body... Said yes.

Even worse was that he slowly felt how he couldn't move certain parts or had lost sensibility.

But it was gradual, like a fire slowly going through grass.

Exactly like Fukasaku had told him. He was becoming stone.

"Not here." - He muttered.

He had accomplished his first mission, defeating Zetsu, yet his other one, resealing the nine tails, was on the air.

Was he going to leave it to the village too? To find a weakened Kushina in a secret place and seal the nine tails? That was stupid, he loved them, but he could do the last effort.

For he was now happy, the future looked bright, he had done everything right to have a better world for the next generation, which if the words of his enemy were true, was meant to be leagues above whatever celestial being was going to meddle with them.

And so, he was going to sacrifice with the last act.

That sudden surge of power had allowed him to feel the battle.

He teleported to the seal he had in Lord Third.

His stone-covered body surprised most of the giant amount of people surrounding them, or better said, the Nine tails which lay on the floor, contained by countless adamantine seals, tags, and Hyuuga members channeling chakra to numb it. Even Monkey and Slug sages of the Sarutobi and Senju clan were aiding in restraining the beast.

Konoha seemed damaged, but it had seen worse.

He smiled as he touched the nose of a clearly pained beast.

Who would tell that the strongest of the tailed beasts would one day be in this situation?

Bah, he at least got to see it before dying.

And then he disappeared again.

Kushina rushed outside of the building, carrying a sleeping Naruto.

Her scared face told what she felt at this moment, she wasn't going to let Naruto be turned into a Jinchuriki.

So she held him with even more force and channeled chakra just in case.

But no, not this time, he wasn't going to argue.

He got rid of his Kage cloak and showed his neck being turned into gray, cold matter.

She understood immediately while she began to cry.

It was a quick process.

And soon she fell to the ground along with her son, her soul crushed, will to live severed, and her chakra disrupted.

Above her was a little kid, bearing an eight trigram seal.

Next to them? The smiling, yet torn sculpture of a man.

And in the darkness lurked one figure, pained, destroyed and moved its hand to reach the kid, like a kid claiming a candy.

But it was stopped by a massive force that somehow managed to break its bone-less right arm.

Hiruzen got there first.

Oh, and yeah, I am referring to Zetsu as it or they, but most people are used to they being plural so I won't for this time, but be aware, in the future I will use it.

And yeah, the next chapter will be Hiruzen and Konoha's side of the battle against the nine tails and what happened immediately after Minato died! Keep in tune!
