Summary: Takes place after Season 4 Episode 5 "Breaking Glass" but before/during episode 6, "Family Business". Initially, this story was going to take place before the next episode, but I had this idea about an alternate version of the episode. What if, Killian was taken by the Snow Queen in between episodes and Emma and the gang is searching for him as well as information on who she is and her connection to Emma. Since I have decided to write an alternative to this episode, I did go back and use some of the dialogue from the episode. Please remember, I do not own these characters (OBVIOUSLY).
Author's Note: Okay, so I lied. Chapter five was NOT the final chapter. I hope it was clear that that scene was happening almost simultaneously with the second half of the last chapter. It might not have come across like that. What did you think though? Do you think I've gone too far off the reservation now? How are the characters reading? Do they sound true to themselves? I love getting your feedback, so I appreciate and welcome notes. I hope you're still enjoying the story! Get ready for this new chapter!
Chapter Six
David's truck approaches the bend in the road just before the town line.
"Dad, stop the car here." He turns, looking at her confused. "We need to approach quietly, in case she's still here." David nods, agrees, pulls over, and parks at the roadside."
He takes his gun from its holster and looks at Emma. "Where do you suppose Henry is now?"
"Hiding, I hope."
Looking around quietly, they don't see anyone in the area, including Henry.
"Henry!" Emma shouts his name in a whisper, just in case. "Henry!" she calls again.
She takes out her cell phone and dials his number, hoping to get lucky. As the phone rings and rings, she and David proceed forward towards the ice wall. Killian is inside, waiting for them.
The phone rings and rings and rings until suddenly, she hears a click and then Henry's panicked voice.
Henry sits next to Killian, running his hands over his arms and pulling his jackets tightly around his pale blue body, warming him. His phone rings and he sees it's Emma, praying that there is enough of a signal for him to answer.
"Mom! Oh thank god, you found us. He's so cold. You need to get us out!"
"Henry, she trapped you inside there too?"
"After I texted you, they caught me spying on them and…"
"They?"
"Yeah, the Snow Queen and Mr. Gold."
Hook shivers violently next to Henry and it reminds him that they need to move quickly.
"We can talk about this after you get Hook out of here."
"Good call kid. How's he doing?"
"He's really cold. I can't get him to stay awake for very long. He's really pale too."
"Alright. I need you to put the phone next to him and then keep him as warm as you can while I figure out how to get you out."
"You got it, mom. Hurry!"
"I'll try, kid."
Back at the Sheriff's station, Regina and Snow return to find only Belle waiting there for them.
"Well, we didn't find anything useful at her ice cream shop. Nothing that could help us locate her, anyway." Regina announces to an empty room.
"Belle? Where is everyone else?" Snow asks, looking around, cautiously.
"I spoke to Killian. Emma and David went to rescue him."
Regina chimes in this time. "Well, where has that pirate been this whole time? At least now we can focus on the task at hand."
"The Snow Queen has him," Belle says. "Trapped inside of an ice cave. We assume that means the wall at the town line so that's where Emma is now."
"And Henry?" Regina asks.
"He wasn't with you?"
"Would I be asking, if he were with me? No, he was supposed to stay with Robin, but of course, he ran off. I assumed he came here."
"Well," Snow starts. "Maybe he stopped at Grannies. Don't worry, Regina. We'll find him."
Belle stands and heads out the door. "Where are you running off to, bookworm?" Regina asks.
"I need to find Rumple because I fear that he's had a hand in some of this. I'll be at the shop if you need me," Belle says.
"Wait, Belle!" Snow shouts after Belle. "Why don't we all go together. In case there's any trouble.
David is outside of the truck now, pickax in hand, and he is chipping away at a section of the ice wall, in the hopes of creating a large enough hole to pull them through. Emma takes a second to collect herself before speaking into the phone "Killian? Are you there?"
Killian hears Emma's voice. He's curled in a tight ball on his side and his hand is so cold he can't seem to get it to move towards the phone. Finally, he gets his arm and hand working. He grabs the phone and painfully works his way into a seated position. His body aches from the cold and his head is pounding from the wound at the base of his skull.
"Swan. It's good to hear your voice, love."
"Oh, Killian. Thank god! I've been so worried, trying to find you and then Henry said…well, I'm really happy to hear your voice too."
With a pained smile and a weak chuckle, Killian asks, "How did you know where to find us, love?"
"Belle…and then, Henry. We're here outside the ice wall at the town line trying to find a way in. I think my dad has almost cracked a hole in it so we can pull you out and…"
Killian sits up a little taller now, realizing that their rescue team is in the wrong place."
"Emma. We aren't at the town line. The Snow Queen has us trapped in her lair. I don't know where exactly, but it's in the woods."
Emma hears what Killian is saying and immediately moves the phone from her face to tell David to stop what he's doing.
"Dad! Stop! Drop the pickaxe. We need to keep moving!"
"What's wrong?" He shouts back.
"They aren't here," Emma replies.
Post-Chapter Author Note: Okay, have I taken this too far? Are we still enjoying the ride? You can be honest. I keep thinking of new twists and turns for Killian and the gang. I love seeing your feedback so please keep sharing your first impressions, overall thoughts, and general words. Please, be kind though. Writers love feedback, but I must remind everyone that kindness is key.
