CHAPTER NINE
He was becoming a father—a father, he had a child on the way, and he wanted to be there every step of the way. Leaving Tamaki's place, he couldn't wrap around his head how he was feeling, though knew he didn't like their situation right now at all.
Hinata was engaged to some man, while pregnant with his child— he didn't know who this man was, just knew her father was forcing this marriage onto her because of their fuck up. As much as he didn't want to be a part of that situation though, he had to be in the middle with this baby of his on the way. He wanted to get to know her better before anything, including the birth of their baby, yet now… he didn't know how to approach the first step of that.
And he couldn't just be forceful with her, that much he knew from how she stuttered up a mess at his simplest attempts at getting to know her— which was starting to bother him too much, so he decided to try and be friends for now.. Though it wasn't like he had much to offer her as her fiancé did right now. At least the man could provide a roof over her and the baby's head, as right now he was in a rush to meet up with his fathers' realtor to try and convince him to push an eviction back.
Fugaku… his father as a gift rented out this two-bedroom house for him and Sakura when it was shared that they were expecting a baby and paid two years of the mortgage for them. When he told them Sakura was ecstatic, while Sasuke knew the only reason why he truly bought them a place was that his mother forced him to show some kind of support in his life—that and because the man didn't want any newborns destroying his furniture, running around in his tidy little mansion.
When they lost the baby… it only became a sad reminder to them inside those walls that their attempt at starting a family together failed, and his father had no remorse for them— reminding them every other month how he won't be continuing the payments on the house— Sasuke just didn't know the man would refuse to pay the mortgage one day and not let him know of it!
He was currently four months behind, and the realtor finally reached out to Sasuke to let him know that he had to either pay his late fees on top of this month's mortgage before the end of this month or to well, pack his shit and get out. The man was known for being a total jerk off as well, and the last thing Sasuke wanted to do was meet up with this man to negotiate his living situation to talk about the money he didn't have at the moment. It all just seemed pointless to fight for with everything else going on in his life right now…
Sitting in the afternoon traffic in desperate need to shut his racing thoughts off, he found himself saddened as usually when his father would pull a stunt like this he'd be more prepared and less caught off guard having Sakura by his side to help with the unexpected..
Because at this point his options were looking like moving back in with his parents if he didn't swallow his pride whole enough to get himself a roommate— though he felt that would let it be known by everyone that he and Sakura were no longer together and he did not want to have that conversation— nor did he want anyone asking about why or how they were over and felt like getting a roommate would only draw everyone's attention to that—or the pathetic conversation his parents were most definitely going to bring up, questioning him on how long he thought this break between them would last..
Tsk, maybe eighteen years? Who knows, he was becoming a father, not a husband like Hinata was becoming a fucking wife— Subconsciously, he gripped the sides of the steering wheel, undoubtedly showing how much he did not like this news. If she was becoming a wife to a completely different man, then why did he and Sakura have to break up because of this pregnancy?
It was… Starting to seem like some stupid fairytale he built up in his head— Where he left Sakura, his significant other of YEARS to get with this woman that he met once, who took him aback at first sight. In this fairytale he built up, he wanted them to raise this unexpected baby together, striving for a happy family where he'd eventually try to propose to Hinata, possibly adding another addition along the road— But no…
This fairytale was all crashing down, uncovering his reality that boiled his soul because instead of him pushing himself for a future with Hinata for their baby, he was being handed a child that he could possibly see on the weekends? Maybe every other holiday? Now, he knew it was more than just this delusional fantasy he had for Hinata that led to him ending things with Sakura, like her hiding this pregnancy from him to begin with.
It broke his trust with her again, and out of everyone, she knew how much Sasuke held growing a family of his own close to him. Her keeping this from him for her own selfish excuses just reminded him of why they were broken up to begin with— Finding himself a little content in these small struggles he found himself in right now..
It was later in the day, and she found herself returning home with a hand full of groceries, and a Kiba behind her—it was when she pulled into her parking lot at the local grocery store that Kiba pulled up in his motorcycle next to her thanks to Tamaki's worrisome self. He insisted on helping her grocery shop and return to in his words, "the hellhole" to put them away.
They were just getting the last of the groceries in before he took in a deep breath and placed the bag on the overfilled counter. Hinata looked back and smiled, placing her two items up with a clap of her hands as though that was hard work. "We did it." She praised, getting an amused raise of the eyebrow as they both began to take their winter attire off. She appreciated Kiba for his overprotectiveness at times, as she genuinely didn't know how she was going to go grocery shopping after her doctor told her to not lift and overexert herself, yet knew the questions were about to roll in now that it was just the two of them and they weren't focused on gathering food.
"We did part two, now… for part three. Putting everything away." Kiba remarked, causing Hinata to groan in annoyance and him to laugh, "Nooo, my least favorite part." She groaned out, laughing as she slugged her way towards the first bag, and he took the one next to her. "Me too," he said, watching as she then opened all the cabinets to put her canned goods away. "I'm not really a huge fan of this mitsumame because of the red beans, do you like red beans?" Critiquing the can in hand, she looked up and him as he looked down and scoffed,
"Yuck, I take them out every time-
Right?! But I like the paste-
Oh, you're weird." Kiba laughed out, causing her to pout as he went for the fridge. "I just could never get over the fact that they're beans… and sweet-"
"Oh, my kami, and that's why I like the paste." She laughed with him as she shook her head. "Toneri likes mitsumame somedays after work though, so I thought.. yeah." Shrugging at that, her voice faded out. Not wanting to discuss anything regarding Toneri with Kiba, knowing how angry he'd get. Though she was too late, as the tone in his voice suddenly lowered as he asked,
"Yeah… What about Toneri actually?" Closing the fridge, he leaned against it as she sighed and bit her lip, wishing she could take back words. "Ca-Can I not bring him up in normal conversation?" She genuinely asked, looking back at Kiba as he nodded in reassurance. "Of course, you can, I just wanted to know… what's got you running back to this guy?" He asked once more, causing her brows to furrow.
"Wh-What do you mean by that? I-I came back be-because I love him…" She stammered, "We-We've been together for-for years now and-
No offense, but me and you have been friends for years now, might I add longer than he's been in your life, and never have I ever hit you-
Kiba…" She breathed out, thinking to herself, 'Here we go..' as she then defended the man she loved with a shake of her head, "He-he's never hit me-
Fucking slapped you—anything!" He angrily corrected himself, closing his eyes to ignore her saddened orbs at his tone as he then tried to calm himself. "Look, all I'm trying to say is for how long we've been in each other's life's, never has violence against you crossed my mind, it's actually been the opposite of that, I've been protective over you— which, ya know, is healthy between people in relationships and friendships like ours?" He thought he should clarify, knowing how Hinata grew up. He was starting to assume she was just used to unhealthy and toxic men at this point..
"So despite how much you love him, and how long you two been dating, what.. what is it about this guy… that I've seen hurt you makes you want to move back in here with him?" He asked, gesturing around the penthouse they stood in as she stared up at him numbly with her hands against her chest. "Is it this place? His mommy's money? His looks? The sex?— Because from the stories Tamaki has been telling me lately from him harassing you in your bathroom-"
She cut him off, shaking her head at that as she went to defend, "Ki-Kiba, it-it's not like that-"
Though he continued over her attempts, "To-To bruising your fucking wrist—" He went to reach for either wrist, though she pulled away frantically— only proving his point more in the small silence that followed after. She held herself close as she stared at the ground, refusing to regain eye contact with him as she found herself upset with how she just reacted. "Hinata… he's showing signs of abuse… and I'm concerned-"
"Do-Don't be…" She forced out, "He.. he-he's never.. intentionally-" She went to defend her fiancé once more yet tripped over her words once Kiba scoffed this time at her attempts. "Please—" He scoffed out, "Don't tell me he's never intentionally hurt you after I was the one who saw his handprint swollen on your face that night. He's lucky I didn't kill him then." Reminding her of that night of weakness, her eyes began to burn up as she then turned all her attention back towards the groceries. It was about time to start dinner…
Of course, it had to be Kiba that she ran to that night— innerly, she found herself regretful of that night. Knowing he'd want to know eventually what happened, and even knew the brunette would eventually grow tired of Tamaki being the messenger between them and would interrogate her himself about everything. He watched her back and frowned, wishing to help her before he deemed it too late..
"Look Hinata… I'm not trying to act like I know what happened, okay? Because I don't know all that happened that night, but it seemed bad.. and all I'm trying to do now is be here for you and help before something like that happens again... So I need to know... why are you wasting your time with some abusive prick who slapped you that night?" She was asked out of the concern and found herself lost for an answer as he continued on, "Because again from what Tamaki's been telling me he's been harassing you in bathrooms, snooping through your things, bruising your wrist—! Hinata, you don't deserve what he's been putting you through-!"
"Kiba..!" She weakly voiced, feeling a tear stream down her cheek as she balled her fist in defeat. "Please… I-I don't want to get into this right now…" She whispered out, closing her eyes only for more silent tears to fall out. He went to reach for her but stopped himself as he was afraid of her frantically freaking out on him again— unknowingly, they shared a frown.. She wanted to voice what was going on with her but knew Kiba saw everything as her decision and as her kissing her father's ass when that wasn't her case at all.
This was an arranged marriage, he was forcing them to marry each other despite their own decision on trying again in their relationship, and if she chose not to marry Toneri… her father would've forced her and Sasuke to marry one another, and she knew nothing of that man! If anything, he could've been worse— and she feared that more than trying to make it work with her boyfriend of three years..
He didn't mean to bruise her wrist! And he apologized for it, though she already felt stupid for attempting to lie to Tamaki about what happened about it and didn't want to even try with Kiba— though wished the brunette kept her mouth shut.. She didn't want Kiba to worry more about her, knowing he was still upset about that night and what happened to her then.
"I-I'm sorry. I just… really don't want to keep explaining why I'm with the man I-I love…" She excused, shaking her head in disappointment as she then wiped her tears away. "I-I didn't want to-to worry Tamaki, so I lied… be-because th-the bruise.. really was just an accident." She voiced, though felt differently within from his words. "He-He's upset th-that my baby isn't his… Though I-I can guarantee you he-he's not abusing me.." Turning back at him, they made eye contact briefly before Kiba looked away in disbelief. "So, please… Stop." She pleaded, holding herself up with the counter as her eyes trailed back towards the ground.
"My fa-father would only force me upon Sasuke, a-a drunk just like Toneri, if not worst if-if we can't make this work…" She mumbled out, placing a hand over her belly as she felt her eyes begin to burn. "He-He wants to-to kill my baby, Kiba… Every-Everyone wants to kill my baby…" She sniffled out before breaking down, causing her friend to pull her into his arms as she wept.
"I'll never allow that bastard to do that to you..!" He reassured her as he rubbed the back of her head with one hand, and clinched the other.. "I'd marry you my damn self before I ever let him harm my little niece or nephew in there." He promised, angry that he knew the only reason she refused to run away from Toneri and his obvious abusive tendencies for her own sanity at this point, was because of her father and his shady business.
He didn't want any more bad news surrounded around his business ever since his wife went missing twelve years ago, and the man-made sure his children didn't bring any either— in the papers, the Hyuga family was known by reference to Hashimozo Hyuga, the Hyuga grandfather who founded housing agencies in this town— when he passed away, his business was passed down to both his sons, despite his eldest complaints at first.
Hiashi and Hizashi were these identical successful twins, scamming Konoha's capitol idiots by overpricing cheaply made homes. Hizashi was known as the womanizer, as Hiashi was known as the loving and supportive father whose wife abandoned them— though with the stories Hinata's told him on those vulnerable nights together, he begged to differ Hinata's mother decided to abandon her three children alone with her abusive husband!.. But the papers didn't have that scoop—
"I'm sorry for bringing it up.." Kiba breathed out, holding her tight as she sobbed within his arms. "I'm sorry…"
He found himself disappointed over a few things right now. Like his college studies, his jobs paychecks, his father, and well.. himself. He was greatly disappointed in himself, sitting at a bar stool wondering why on earth would he ever think to trust his father with helping him out—in any way. He should've been out buying boxes, though found himself in such disbelief, he felt like he deserved a drink or two..
Turns out, his fathers' realtor, super big asshole. Granted Sasuke the minimum of two weeks to either pay two months' worth of overdue rent or two weeks to basically move out—and it wasn't like Sasuke had four-thousand dollars just lying away between his couch cushions. It felt pointless to even try, as his father still hasn't returned any of his calls today. He knew if he was the born first, things would be different—But instead of getting angry like he usually did, he shot back his drink in pity—having no energy to release his frustrations..
This all was his fault at the end of the day—He was the one that got the stranger pregnant, he was the one that caused this distraction on his studies, and he was the one that ended things with his only support system— It seemed easy in his thoughts to jump back into the saddle, focusing on his studies and getting a two-bedroom apartment, but it was all those small details that held him back.
Like the moving process, and the explanations he's sure everyone would want— He didn't want to explain anything to anyone. He just wanted to move on with his life in silence, as no one seemed to care about his wellbeing, just cared enough if he could benefit them in any way.
Growing up it was always like that—even before his parents decided to adopt Tamaki as their own. His father would only take him out to events for business opportunities as his mother would offer him up to men's horny daughters for clout and business opportunities for his damn father. There's nothing benefiting them right now though, so of course, his parents were unreachable. That, and he was sure his father shared what he walked into the other day with his place being thrashed from the night before. His mother had a knack of becoming m.i.a for a month or two after every breakup of theirs, excusing herself because of her own emotions… supposedly.
Lifting his glass up, he was gifted a refill that he made magically disappear within seconds. He knew he drove here, and knew he had to drive back home, yet his glass was generously refilled, and he knew he wasn't going to just let it sit there. He pulled his phone out, intoxicated from the drinks upon arrival, and began dialing numbers— His parents were pieces of shit, and neither of them answered—but he wasn't surprised by that.
At this moment, he was drunk. Taking back another shot as he went to call his brother yet got no answer. This was normal in his life, being told by his brother and parents that if he needed anything from them that they'd be there for him, yet whenever he'd call, they'd never pick up their phones. He saw Itachi just earlier today, and yeah, he could've excused the man not answering his call because of him being newly married and all, but he thought with Itachi being the only family member he told about his struggles, he'd actually answer his call for once…
"Tsk," He left a voicemail, hanging up from Itachi to try and call Tamaki—though, to his surprise, she didn't answer him either. Earlier when they saw each other, she was upset with him, accusing him of not putting in enough effort in being there for Hinata and the baby—Though when he tried expressing to her his own struggles with everything, she was so caught up in her frustrations that made him think she intentionally didn't want to speak to him now.. which bothered him so much, he gestured for a refill.
Swirling that refill around, he skimmed through his contacts—passing up Naruto, his estranged best friend, his professor, his sister-in-law, his ex, and.. Hinata… Dialing up her number, he took the shot back in preparations of hearing her voicemail—in all things pure, he just wanted a ride home, at this point tempted to call Sakura as he knew Naruto was still out of town, though when he pulled the phone back to hang up, he heard a light voice answer,
"He-Hello?"
He was surprised, pleased even— "Hey." He replied, listening to the sound of a faucet run until suddenly it was turned off and she whispered out,
"Um, is everything o-okay?" She questioned, shutting a door behind her as he groaned. "I-I can't really be on the phone at the mo-moment-"
"I need a ride home; I'm drunk and stranded." He voiced before she could excuse her way out of helping him, "I'll pay you, I just can't pay for a cab." He offered up, causing the woman to gently sigh— taking a moment of silence before answering in reluctance, she said,
"Um.. okay… I-I can.. I can help you." She answered with a knock on her end, rushing out— "I-I'll call you when I-I've arrived— I-I have to go-" she said her goodbyes as Sasuke replied nonchalantly,
"I'll see you where everything started at." She hung up the phone after that, causing the man to undoubtedly smirk as he saw Hinata in a brighter light— as someone who seemed reliable. Looking up at the bartender, he raised his glass, thinking to himself how he deserved one more drink for the road before this midnight-haired woman showed up to rescue him from himself..
She was sitting across from Toneri, watching as he cut up his fish before each bite of rice. Ever since he came home, she found herself studying him—studying to try and see how he was feeling tonight as she could ask him, yet his answer would never match his mood. He came home, took a shower, and here they were sitting in silence. Not once did he ask how her day was, or what she did today—
Kiba… he was in her head, telling her how she deserved better than what she's been receiving for years, and even accused her lover of being abusive… which she'd debate from time to time.. but never was she forced to see a reality that confused her heart so much. His actions… were unpredictable just as they were abusive… and though not always physical, came the invisible collar around her neck that made her feel controlled half the time.
"How was your day honey?" She asked, taking a bite of fish as he shook his head. It was every other day where he'd want to have a conversation during dinner and other days where he'd want to eat in silence. It didn't bother her as she grew up with her father being the same way— though knew once her little one became old enough to express themselves and their days, she'd want to know everything about it.. "I'm sorry, I-I'll wait until we're done…" Apologizing, she finished the last couple bites of food before getting up to clear her plate off when her phone began to go off on the dining table.
Looking up from the faucet, Toneri dusted his hands off before reaching for her phone as she panickily rushed back— He picked it up, staring up at the woman as he then glanced at who was calling her. "It's that man you slept with." He spat out, pressing the off button to silence her ringer before loosely handing it to her. She looked down at him with saddened eyes, upset that he was still angry about her sleeping with Sasuke while they were broken up..
"He-Hello?" She answered, connecting eyes briefly with Toneri before making her way back into the kitchen. "Hey." He replied as she watched Toneri throw his napkin on his plate before standing to his feet, causing her to bite her lip before she turned the faucet off and made her way towards their bedroom. "Um, is everything o-okay?" She whispered out, shutting the door behind her as he then groaned in her ear. "I-I can't really be on the phone at the mo-moment-"
"I need a ride home; I'm drunk and stranded." He voiced, causing her to think, 'Of course, he is…' as he continued to blab on, "I'll pay you; I just can't pay for a cab." He offered up, causing the woman to gently sigh. She didn't want his money; she just wanted this baby to have at least one parent with their shit together… Here she was leaning against her bedroom door to keep her fiancé out, while he was drunk again. Taking a moment to herself to debate the odds, it wasn't until the knob shook where she reluctantly rushed out,
"Um.. okay… I-I can.. I can help you." She answered with a hard knock behind her— "I-I'll call you when I-I've arrived— I-I have to go-" She said her goodbyes, pulling the phone away as Sasuke then said, "I'll see you where everything started at.", Causing her to groan as she then turned to unlock the bedroom door—Toneri burst in, making her take a step back. "Ton-Toneri, what ar-are you-"
"Why did you come in here?!" He angrily asked, looking around the room as though Sasuke jumped through the phone. "Have you two been phone sexing all day?! Why are you being so secretive-!"
"Wha-What?" She questioned, taken aback by his accusations. "Why-Why are you-you overreacting-?"
"Don't tell me I'm overreacting when all you've been doing lately is lying and cheating on me! You were being weird this morning and now you can't talk on the phone with me in the same room!? Did you two make plans to fuck again or something?!" He angrily asked, then yelled— "Since you can easily fuck him, and not me!" Slamming his fist into the door behind him, she jumped in fear. Pulling his fist out like nothing, he then angrily pointed at her. "You're just so fucking ungrateful—I took you back, yet you answer to his beck and call!-"
"I-I only came in th-the bedroom to try and a-avoid this!-"
"Bullshit, Hinata! You expect me to believe your shit!-"
"No! Be-Because you never do! At-At this point, I-I'm just expecting to-to be abused!" She yelled at him, causing his eyes to widen and his fist to tighten before flattening altogether. She looked at him with her brows furrowed, and her cheeks reddened from irritation. "This… This is abuse, Toneri… Th-The yelling, the calling of-of names… you are abusing our-our home." She expressed to him, gesturing towards the door as she fought back tears. They looked at one another before she stared at the hole in her door and couldn't help but frown, as her fiancé closed his eyes.
"Abuse…" He grumbled out, laughing at that comment alone—to which her stomach turned. "I'm not abusing you." He defended himself, taking a step at her as she took a step back before he yanked her hair in his grip, causing her to gasp. "If you want to consider this as abuse, then I can consider every single time you go out with that guy you fucked as abuse against my heart!" He declared, glaring deep into her soul as she tried pushing him away from her. Gripping her chin, she fought to free her face. "Ton-Toneri, le-let go of me!-" She cried out, "I love you!" He yelled at her, "Despite you being a fucking whore!" He spat out, throwing her on their bed as he then went towards the door.
Fear. It settled within her as he went to close the two of them in. She pushed her hair back and looked around for her shoes, wanting to escape before his jealousy rage got the best of him. To think if she didn't answer Sasuke's call, her night would've been going differently—but she didn't regret it. The man was drunk, and she couldn't have just left that alone—hell, she would've offered Toneri to come with.. but now she needed to figure out how to escape the man.
He slammed the door shut as she went to retrieve her house shoes, but alas it was too late. He began to strip off his pants as she got up to run into the bathroom, though he caught her by the wrist. "I want you first." He demanded, pulling her towards him causing her to gasp. "Right here." He whispered in her ear, nibbling on it before brushing his hands up her stomach and back. "It's been months… and you even fucked another man… I need to claim it back…" He insisted, causing her to freeze up once he then bit at her neck.
It was strange and felt uncomfortable. How his hands that were so rough a minute ago, was now gently caressing her tummy low towards her covered vagina— it didn't arouse her, didn't turn her on—she simply felt numb to his touch. He rubbed her clit through her yoga pants, though she didn't gasp, she didn't moan, she was disgusted—and pulling back, she told herself that she needed to get away from this man before he tried anything else.
"Ca-Can I… freshen up?" She asked, looking up at him as she placed her hand over his. "If-If… we do have sex, I-I don't want fish on my breath…" Excusing herself, he nodded in agreement.
"You're right… I should freshen up as well." He agreed, making his way towards the bedroom bathroom. "I'll be quick." Closing the door behind him, Hinata took in this moment to rush towards the closet. She wasn't dressed for the winter weather and dreaded that all of her clothes were packed in her duffel bag still— Toneri was eagerly getting ready to have sex in the bathroom, and with the thought of him being willing to have sex with her if she consented tonight or not, she decided with herself to pull the bag out towards the front door.
Slipping her house shoes on, she threw her coat on and placed her shoes in a pocket each before she frantically gathered her car keys and made her way out the door silently. She dragged the duffel bag of clothes towards her car, leaving a trail within the snow as she unlocked the door. Her running away right now wasn't because she didn't love the man, nor was it because she didn't want to be with him anymore, but because… he was abusive.
She made her way into the car, and before she could pull out, Toneri opened the front door. Standing there in his boxers, he glared at her causing her to frown before she drove off—making her way towards Sasuke…
Genuinely, she felt bad. It wasn't her fault that Toneri was jealous, though she couldn't help but not to blame herself for some of his actions— He saw her as some whore who can sleep with strangers except for him, which pained her, yet she knew his thoughts about her didn't excuse him to talk to her in any way, or to force his way onto her— She wanted this to work out, especially with their wedding being any day now based on Toneri and her father's plans, though another part of her wanted to keep driving.
Drop Sasuke off, and just leave town—she could raise the baby just fine alone.. though knew she'd be regretful not having Sasuke in their child's life. Making her way back towards this bar, she dreaded this becoming a routine in her life—being told to meet where it all started by Sasuke. It was sad that they met at a bar and sad that they conceived a child from it. It all started there based on her relationship failing and them being reckless—it wasn't a magical meeting, just a reckless one.
Pulling into the bar's parking lot, she went to redial Sasuke only to connect eyes with the man—He sat outside the bar door, smoking a cigarette to its butt before throwing it out. Looking away from him, she shyly fingered through her hair. Still feeling roughened up, she just wanted to unwind—wanted to feel something other than this extreme anxiety that clouded her thoughts. She didn't want to know what was in store for her once she returned home to Toneri, nor did she want to think what he would be thinking right now—She just wanted to help the father of her baby, and wanted to feel safe if not just for an hour…
Sasuke made his way towards the car, tapping the hood of the car before jumping in the passenger seat. "Thanks." He breathed out, rubbing his hands together as she turned the heater up. "It's too cold to walk."
"No worries…" Looking at the man briefly, she began pulling out. "Um… So.. wha-whats brought you here again?" She asked, biting her lower lip as he looked at her for a second before scoffing.
"Tsk, not that it matters to you—but I was drinking my sorrows away." He admitted, reaching in his pocket for his pack. "Do you mind if I smoked?" She looked at him in disbelief as he then picked a cigarette up with his lips and lit it, "It helps with nausea-"
"Sa-Sasuke, I-I'm pregnant-"
"I'll roll the window down." He exhaled, causing the woman to cough as she rolled both of their windows down. "One cigarette won't kill you." He said, causing her to shoot him a small glare before focusing back on the road.
"Wha-What's happened?" She asked, recalling earlier when things seemed fine. "You-You said how you needed to meet with someone-"
Inhaling the smoke, he argued. "Yeah, and I did—My father screwed me over for the last time, I just thought before I fixed another one of his fuckups, I deserved a drink." Leaning back in the passenger seat, he began to rub his temples. "Why stress over four-thousand dollars, when I can get drunk over thirty?" He questioned, causing her to frown as she couldn't disagree with his thinking on that… He puffed on his cigarette some more.
"Four… thousand-dollars?-"
"Tsk, that's me rounding the total up. I'd still need two-three hundred on top of that before the foreclosure hits.." He explained, exhaling the smoke as he talked through it. "I can only pack and move the hell out at this point… probably getting a two-bedroom away from everything.." He thought out loud, taking one last puff of his cigarette before throwing it out the window as his words sat with Hinata—intriguing her as she found herself with nowhere to go at the moment..
Yeah, she could try crashing at Kiba's again, but after their conversation earlier about the last time she did that, she wanted to steer clear of the man and his lover. She already knew she couldn't rely on her brother, and her little sister wasn't even in town—she genuinely had no one to go to… For a second, she thought about crashing with Sasuke—but saw him as a drunk right now, and she couldn't be around that right now… who knows how he acted this intoxicated.
"Um.. well, I-I hope that works out for you…" She said, glancing at the man only to notice he's dozed off. Sighing to herself, she rolled the windows up and drove in silence—confused with herself. What was she doing? She hasn't taken a moment to sit down and think ever since she ran out of Toneri's penthouse. Was she supposed to sit here fearful of her fiancé? Or was she supposed to escape him indefinitely? Her original plan was to drop Sasuke off home safely to return back to Toneri, but now—she genuinely feared going back.
Sasuke wasn't her fiancé though, just some drunk that knocked her up— She couldn't rely on him to keep her safe. She needed to return eventually, just… not right now. Pulling into Sasuke's driveway, she glanced at her bag in the backseat before gently shaking the man woke. "Hey… we-we're here." She breathed out, causing the man to shoot up with widened eyes—They connected eyes before she smiled at him and he looked away, groaning as he struggled to stretch in her tiny car.
"I feel sick.." He grumbled out as she unbuckled his seatbelt. Stumbling out the door, she watched as he struggled to keep straight and made her way out to help him—still in her house shoes, she threw his arm around her and walked them towards the front door. "Where are my keys?" He asked, fishing his way through an empty pocket as she looked in the other, unlocking the door for them shortly after— She tried to find a light switch, but to no avail, she ended up walking them to the nearest couch to drop him on only to plop beside him.
"I'm… exhausted." She panted, resting her head back as Sasuke laid out on his stomach, unconscious yet again. She told herself not to fall asleep with him, knowing she had to prepare a trash bag and some water, yet.. when she told herself to sit up, it felt impossible to do. She had a long day, filled with a lot of back and forth—she tried her best today, and yet it still didn't feel like enough— Sometimes it felt good to do nothing or stress about the next person or move—She could stress herself about being better tomorrow, or… she could keep her eyes shut in this dark living room and breathe that she and the baby made it through another day…
How was thaaat? Just an ending editor's note to thank all who read to the end and FINGERS CROSSED that the next chapter comes soon! ^^
